Was excited that they had returned to their original location. Equally as excited to Patron them again as we hadn't been patroning them when they became a pseudo pizza parlor at their previous location. What an unfortunate experience. We reminisced about the old days when it used to be good. Got there when they opened for lunch and during our time there maybe 4 or 5 tables we're full. Not crowded. Two people waiting tables. Our waitress was terrible. 10 minutes to get a beverage. Waitress just stood behind the counter with the cash register going through a receipts or something during the time we were there. Not attended to the table she was waiting on. Food arrived and wanted to love it but it was just mediocre and overpriced. Why ask how you want something cooked if they're just going to cook it the way they want anyway. Took quite a while to get the food. Seemed like wait staff didn't care. Felt disorganized. We've eaten at Gallagher's a couple of times. We enjoyed the potato skins for an appetizer last time we were there. My husband had the fish and chips wish which were good. My shrimp and grits were delicious. The ambience is Irish pub and they do a lot of things right. The biggest reason for the 4 stars is service. Quite simply they are understaffed. When the meal started it was friendly and prompt but as things got busier, it became impossible to get anything. Our dessert, which we ordered to go, took almost 30 minutes. We finally tried their food, via doordash, we ordered the fried halibut and chips, and the clam chowder. Despite the roughly 15 minute wait from when the food was done and the driver making it to us, it was so good. I imagine it's absolutely divine eating it fresh and hot in the restaurant. But still the batter was light and still had some crispiness to it, the fish was so tender and flaky and melt in your mouth! The tartar sauce was also very very good. The clam chowder wasn't super chunky, everything was diced smaller which I actually ended up enjoying, and it had a great flavor to it as well. Needless to say the next time we go up to Eureka for business we are definitely dining in restaurant. It's so nice to see a solid option for dining in the area. read more

Gallagher's is a warm, welcoming place with great pub decor and good food & drinks. We always get the feeling from people working here that they are happy to see us, and they seem to treat everyone that same way. :) There is a lot to look at in here, since all walls are covered with charming decorations. Apart from the dining room, there is also a handsome and intimate "lounge" area with big comfy armchairs and a few huge TVs. The food is very hearty & tasty, especially the fish & chips and the Reuben sandwich, and the cocktails are well done. We had probably the best fish and chips we've ever had here! Halibut fish and chips was the special we got an order to share, and a bow of clam chowder. The service was great - we all know Covid has made things a little more difficult... but our server was awesome! The fish and chips were so good! Deliciously crispy fries, perfectly battered halibut, and the fish was flaky and meaty... SO good!! And the tartar sauce... I could have eaten a gallon of it! So good! Our family checked out this place for the first time last week and we'll be returning again. Great service, great food, great drinks. The clam chowder was fantastic. We were celebrating a 21st birthday for twins. The bartender was unfamiliar with one of the drinks ordered, but looked it up and made it flawlessly. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. Love this place! We used to go to their location in old town Eureka but they've moved and the food is just as tasty. Lots of beers on tap and the atmosphere is nautical and comfortable. Most of us liked the pub, but several things send red flags which are hard to ignore: the neighborhood is sketchy, in my opinion. The business has high fences to keep possible undesirables out I guess. My Clam Chowder was not hot, and my Shepard's pie was refrigerator cold on the inside; it tasted good, but having both items out of temp range made me give up. Why go south when you can slip into a friendly barstool of an establishment that's been here forever. Yes, this current location was once known for amazing pizza from the Marcelli's. Guess what? They have pizza here as well. This afternoon they accommodated a group of the remaining members of The California Redwoods Chorale. We sang and toured throughout Europe from 1984-1998 under the direction of Dr. Leland Barlow, Professor Emeritus from Humboldt State University. I was privileged to be in that group as Soprano soloist. Today, age 67, I was the youngest. The food, service and professionalism was unmatched. Went in tonight with my husband and son. Sat down, ordered apps and drinks. Apps came, no plates, no silverware or napkins so we ate with greasy hands until my husband got up and grabbed napkins from the server's station. Our server (man with a greasy man-bun), was definitely on drugs or drunk during his shift. He brought my clam chowder out and set it on the table halfway so it almost fell into my lap, and he brought my husband's pizza and dropped his plate on the floor right next to our feet. He was sniffing repeatedly and wiped his nose and lips several times, all while handling plates, food & drinks. When he cane to clear app plates he reached his whole body across our table (rude) and kept tripping on the step on the ground to get into the kitchen. My appetite was lost so I left 3/4 of my soup there when I left. This place used to be so good, unfortunately we paid $99 + tip for horrible service. read more

In a word: Delightful. We were there on a quiet weekday afternoon and had an early dinner. My mother had the small portion of corned beef and cabbage, which she really enjoyed. I had bangers and mashed and ate way more than I usually do, it was so tasty. Cindy took great care of us and, when we were nearly done, she introduced us to the rest of the crew. These nice young people made a couple of old women feel pretty special. Next time we are looking for a yummy dinner - or maybe just their tempting bread pudding and coffee - we will be back. Issues happen, so constructive criticism: The good: best halibut and chips ever. Really amazing The bad: Credit card machine went down sometime around when I asked for my check. I get it, it happens. I asked the waiter to split my check (work expense etc) and was told "no". Told couldn't process credit, but I don't have cash on me. Five minutes later. Waiter drops check without saying anything. Like I can pay with magic? Another five minutes. Two guys walk in, order take out, and somehow pay using crash kit? I see carbons etc. still (now 20 mins, no update) Offer me a drink. Keep me informed on what's going on and $1.80 in draft Guinness and I'm probably good for a few. Waiter finally comes over, and I just want to leave. Give me some options. Credit card machine finally works. 30 minutes. You keep me informed and I've had another beer and I'm rooting for you. Keep me in the dark, ignore me, and be difficult... After taking an evening walking around Eureka going into the many art exhibits and listening to the locals play music, we stopped here for a late dinner. This little Irish Pub was quaint and old school. I had the clam chowder and a salad and Sara had the Rubin sandwich. Food was good, it was hot and it came to the table quick. The server on the other hand was all business. No greeting, no conversation just in and get it done and out. The bus boys were great. They filled the water glasses and brought out food and removed dirty dishes. I wouldn't recommend our server but the Pub and the bus boys were good. read more

We went to their new location last night and it's cute but the dining Area is to close and lit up like Dennys. The serving staff was overworked and food was not coming out of the kitchen fast enough. We ordered an appetizer; it never came. I ordered fish and chips and the batter wasn't cooked through and the French fries were soaked in grease. They clearly forgot to put the cabbage in any sauce as the cole slaw was just that... cabbage. My mom ordered Canadian bacon and pineapple w green onions and got a cold salami pizza. Good old fashioned irish food, I tossed back and forth between the beef stroganoff and the fish and chips (best in town it said) I had to ask the waiter which was better and he could only tell me it was whether I wanted something a bit heavy comfort food, the beef stroganoff, or a bit lighter, the fish and chips, I went for the fish. the fish was delicious and lightly fried in a light oil. There were 3 really big pieces and very filling. The chips were not good, I didn't touch them after the first couple, not good. I got a cup a clam chowder and it was OK the side salad was full of organic greens, and peas, it was really really good with the blue cheese. Went for dinner last night, Jan 20th. First time since new owners have taken over. What a disappointment from before. The fish and chips were so much smaller and the batter was NOT crispy but limp. Not sure if they batter their own fish anymore or if it's frozen. The fries did not look/taste like the in house cut like they used to serve. More like the frozen ones. The cole slaw was really the best part of the meal. Nothing in the meal like it was before!!! The poor waiter was by himself and it was pretty busy with a lot of tables full and he was doing an excellent job considering that. No silverware on tables, had to ask. Some people got up and got their own. Very disappointing dinner from what we were used to from previous meals. Will try it another time and order something else off the menu to see if it is the same quality as before. read more

I stopped in on my way to work (travel nurse) because a co-worker said it was amazing. It was fantastic. Gallagher's is a cozy Irish pub everything I expected and more. The Ruben was perfection the potato salad was house made with a nice tang to it. The Server Hailey was just plain nice. Attentive and more than competent. The table behind me wanted substitution after substitution she handled it with a calm grace and even had them laughing. If I could give 6 stars I would will definitely be back! read more

Warm, cozy atmosphere with exceptional service. large menu with daily specials...the Reuben Sandwich is the best, the kitchen invents new things like a roasted red pepper base for a new pizza when I was last there. Mark, the proprietor likes to let patrons try things, there is a full bar and a variety of beers on tap such as Guiness, but let us not forget the fish and chips... the best around. It is also hard to believe that tarter sauces vary much but Gallagher's stands out above others. And wow that hot sauce! read more
