Everything about this place is just fine. It's a pretty crowded place but I don't really understand why. The plates are overpriced for what you get. $10 for Migas that is ok, when you can get it for $7 many other places and it will have a lot more flavor. $10 for a decent fish wrap with not that much fish in it. They barely fill the soup bowls half way. This is my first time and probably won't be back. There are better places in Austin for the same prices. read more

First time here and I was very impressed. Very friendly staff and fantastic food. Got the Zocalo Buddha Bowl and added avocado with a side of mac n cheese. They were brought to our table within 5 minutes. The bowl was fantastic and quite a large portion. The flavors all went great together. The mac n cheese was some of the best I have ever had. Bad! Poor service, unclean facilities, low quality food. I rarely go to this place without seeing dirty tables, or a waiter missing parts of my order. Because of its location this place faces little competition or incentive to improve. If you want good food go to Josephine house. When you go to Galaxy you'll find that the old adage is true, you do really get what you pay for. read more

I love Galaxy Cafe, but I think I like the south one a little more. They both offer great food (especially breakfast), and great service. Its definitely a funky Austin place and has the best breakfast wraps, and a friendly staff. It won't break the bank and you'll leave full and happy. This location is actually close to where I lived and we went there all the time and I have not one bad thing to say. Now I live closer to the south location and nothing has changed. read more

I finally stepped in for studying, and having only seen it in daylight... I must say... it's rather lovely at night. The inner decor is mod-ern with mirrors all over, interesting silver light fixtures, metal bead curtains swishing and clicking with the a/c above a white, leather curving booth. Also - they put candles *everywhere* at night. There's not much to be said for service - it's pretty much 'fend for yourself,' and order at the counter, but presentation is great for the price. I had a coffee that comes in its very own French press with a side of soy milk and 3 perfectly placed white-chocolate dipped espresso beans on the spoon. Much like my recent trip to Starlite, I just found a cafe/diner with style, a great menu that wasn't coated in just burgers, and a knack for aesthetics. read more

I have eaten a bazillion breakfasts/brunches here! (well, my addiction started at the south location after our bike rides) My biking pals all seem to flock to this place for brunch post ride or run. I haven't heard much good about the quiche though, so go with my personal favorite, The Mediterranean. Their breakfast wraps are also excellent b/c you can choose your fillings. They also serve soy milk with the coffee which is a big plus, although the best cup of coffee is right across the street at Caffe Medici and they don't mind if you bring it with you. I brought a couple coworkers here for lunch, early so we could avoid the lines, and the guys loved it. Normally I'm not a fan of paying $$ for sandwiches, but their fish wrap is incredible, and doesn't count as a sandwich for me. Super great quality for something in a wrap-- good crunch, good tasting; a little light on the sauce on the slaw, but the accompanying side of sauce makes up for it (if I could just figure out how to gracefully dip my wrap in there w/o losing some cabbage, or be patient enough to spread a little on each bite). Only complaint: the wheat tortilla wasn't the best choice for my wrap -- it seemed a little too soft for my wrap, but it's not something I blame Galaxy for. Of course their sweet potatoes rock. Icky food from a great menu. Ordered a veggie wrap. It had been in the fridge quite some time before they plunked it on my plate. Gelatinous tomatoes and soggy. I was wishing I had stopped at Starbucks for one of those chicken salad sandwiches. The second grader I was treating gave her burger a thumbs down. Great breakfast spot if you're going for something quick, simple, and delicious. The contemporary cafe is located in a quaint neighborhood. They make a good iced coffee and the Mexican breakfast which has scrambled eggs, onions, and japlapeno.. kind of reminds me of The Migas at Cafe Brazil but not as good. The corn tortillas that come with is muy bueno. Seriously, that's a good tortilla. I want the recipe! Their salsa is a little weak and not spicy enough. The french toast is yummy. It's made with sliced baguette and topped with lots of fruit. It's very light actually. I need to come back and try their lunch items soon. Love the coffee and service, menu needs to be explored. read more

Whenever My wife wants to eat here, it's really hard for me to get up for it. There are some good spots on this menu. Their turkey burger is the best I've had at a restaurant. I love their Chicken Lime and Roasted tomato soups. The mac and cheese is good and some of their original salad dressings (especially the garlic buttermilk) are ridiculously tasty. But I look at their menu and just don't see a lot of stuff that excites me. Maybe it's because something of the stuff screams "too healthy" for me without really being health food (since it's wrapped in a 350 calorie flour tortilla). I am, however, a big fan of their design concept. As the name suggests, they have this subtle 50's era space thing going on and have a not of nice touches. Metal accents, good lighting, and at this location at least, a little video projection behind the registers. Having said all that, it's hard for me to recommend this place when Zocalo is next door. It's the same owners so I guess I don't feel to bad about making that distinction. read more

I really hope counter service restaurants don't become a thing (or have they already?) I just don't know what to do once I've ordered at the counter and the receipt comes with that tip line glaring at me. Am I tipping for the food I haven't eaten or the service I'm not going to receive? A very nice server brought our food out to us but after that we had to wait quite a while before we could hail someone down to ask about a problem with our order. I should probably give this place one more star because I really liked the atmosphere - really open but not loud, great lighting, clean and welcoming - but the food was just 'meh'. I got the linguine with marinara and meatballs. The meatballs were pretty tasty but the sauce was just bland. Everything lacked salt...and flavor. That said, their kids menu was pretty good and my toddler really liked the fish sticks. The green bean special was undercooked so we were basically eating raw green beans. I sent it back once but they came back with a new dish, equally as undercooked. We just took them home to reheat/cook to our liking. I've heard that breakfast is better so I'll probably be back to give them another try. If anything, we'll be back to enjoy the great atmosphere and what looked like some interesting desserts. read more

I love this place. Their menu is the perfect mix of everything you could ever want. My go to is the Brie and Turkey Sandwich and sweet potato fries. The service is always great. I had a hard time deciding on Galaxy at first. A friend of mine tried to get me to go their triangle location on a few occasions but something always came up. Another friend of mine moved to West Lynn and I kept passing by this location thinking I should give it a try. From the outside it is not terribly impressive and always seemed packed. After my first visit though I became hooked. The grilled chicken sandwich and especially sweet potato fries are really amazing. The menu is pretty simple, basic diner fare. The quality is more than you would expect from this menu though and certainly worth the visit. I will definitely be a regular customer for some time to come. Really, good, friendly people working there as well. Be forewarned that they can get pretty packed during busy periods. A lot of people are a fan of the place. read more

I've been a fan for years. This group is doing a great job offering a quality product that appeals to those of us who appreciate great food but can't always cook for ourselves or spend all of our money dining out. whenever i'm deciding what to eat and the criteria is healthy, relatively cheap, sit-down place, and good atmosphere, my default answer is galaxy cafe. i love this place, specifically the west lynn location. it's a good sign when you walk in and a running club is in line :) they have a great menu with lots of options and gluten free! i LOVE the sweet potato fries, turkey burger, and turkey meatloaf. they also have good bow tie pasta and mexican lime chicken soup. omg and the mac n cheese...cheesy! yummers. i think i'm here every few weeks, and i esp love sitting outside. it'd be nice if there was more parking, but that's the only minor downside. three cheers for galaxy cafe! hip hip hooray! read more

Last Sunday, I found myself in a pinch. I had an out-of-town guest who had a morning flight to catch but needed to eat a sobering meal before getting on the plane. I had a lightbulb moment and thought of this place. It doesn't hurt that across the street is Caffe Medici, home to the best latte in town. We picked up our lattes, and then headed into Galaxy for a light & flavorful breakfast. Wheat bun for a baby burger patty. Eat your heart out if you aren't that hungry. Otherwise spend $15 and then go to whataburger because you're still hungry. The burger was 6.5/10 and I weigh 160Lbs, but what about using your "local fresh ingredients" and making a portion for someone who isn't an infant. You can profit and still throw a little bit of extra meat into your patties. It doesn't take 45 minutes to cook a burger even at lunch rush. Just another example of "at par" food, enjoy if you're a healthy squirrel. read more
