The food was good; but I have had better. I had the scallops special with a side of spicy broccolini. It was little too spicy and over powered the broccolini. I think it was over priced for what we got. The environment; however, was gorgeous! Service was on point, which it better have been as we were the only ones there until half way through our meal.

We ate here for Thanksgiving the service was not good. I was unable to have my water glass filled and that was all I was drinking. I believe Luca was our server. I had the mushroom cavatappi with shrimp and my husband had the turkey breast lunch along with the beet salad and Caesar salad. The dining room and hotel look very nice.

Great service. Very nice and professional staff. The food was great. The best food. The grouper was really good. The lamb chops were juicy. The risotto was tasty. The dessert was sweet. The restaurant was beautiful inside the hotel. Music from the lounge was nice it was live . Our server was great. The manager and hostess were too. We really enjoyed the food and service

Service is excellent and friendly but not obsequious. Great cocktails and wine list. I had the foie gras terrine that was v good and generous portion. The main was tile fish. Disappointing as the fish was v dry. Stand out was the flourless chocolate cake that was rich and decadent. I would give it 3.5 because for fine dining, the main needs to be excellent. And v heartbreaking because app and dessert were outstanding.

Appetizer - PEAR SALAD - Great taste and wonderful portion. Nothing bad to say about the salad but it wasn't overwhelming great either. Nothing necessarily special. SHE CRAB SOUP - The soup was very good. This is what I will be getting every time in the future, great balance of flavors and not at all "fishy". 10/10 for the soup. Entree - Shrimp Burger - I have never had a shrimp burger to compare but i cant imagine a better one. The lemon aioli paired perfectly with the burger. This is a must have when you come here. Kings Club - Average sandwich to be honest . Nothing bad to say but nothing great once again. Definitely not bad by any means, but not special. Dessert - The macaroons came with an entremets in the middle, quite amazing the raspberry and lemon mixture was well balanced and provided a very light and delicious dessert. Service - 10/10 super polite, exchanged silver-wear and plates promptly and checked in often. We only gave it a three because of the following... - Choices were very limited... more of a clubhouse vibe with very great service and a top notch chef. - Fries were once again clubhouse level, no truffle or extra options. But I would like to say the service and preparation of the food that is available was a 5/5.

Now that we can enjoy the incredible ambiance of the indoor dining space at Gabrielle and the Hotel Bennet I felt an update was in order. Elegant and refined space with the true ability to talk to one another (harder to find than it should be!). Great lighting and changing seasonal decor makes for wonderful photos as well. Service by JD and maitre d' was spot on. Never rushed or overly conversational. Great wine list (some amazing Pinot from Williamette Valley). High point of food choices were the crab cakes , truffle frites w lemon aioli, and risotto with shrimp added on. Chef trying a new bread service- I missed the baguette but everyone else asked for more of those corn muffins. If you have a special occasion to celebrate- I love this place. It will not be cheap. It will be memorable.

Upscale, fine dining restaurant located within Hotel Bennett. I live in Charleston and have dined here several times and the service and quality of food is always consistent. They offer both indoor & outdoor seating options . The dining terrace overlooks Marion Square and is the perfect spot to take in the sunset on a cool Summer evening. If you want to dine outside make sure you request this with your reservation. The hotel does not offer free parking but you may be able to catch an open meter along King Street. As of April 2021, meters are free after 6pm. The hotel does offer paid valet. As of April 2021 the valet rates are : $40 - Overnight Valet $12 - Day Rate (for guests enjoying the spa or dining) $18 - Event Rate (for guests attending a hotel function) Be sure to check out Hotel Bennett's rooftop bar Fiat Luxe as well as their champagne bar , Camellias before or after your dinner at Gabrielle's.

We had dinner here when on our first night at Hotel Bennett. At the end of a long travel day, I would have thought we would have loved anything and everything we were served. My gnocchi was tasty... yet drowning in sauce which made the butter flavor overwhelming. The Camellias signature dessert had great texture and taste... so at least there was a sweet ending to the meal. Service was phenomenal. That said, we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time, so we didn't have anyone competing for our server's time.

Sad "lump crab" croissant. It was a very bland crab salad with no lump meat or crab flavor.

I'm a regular visitor to Charleston, but had never been to Poogan's Porch. How did that happen?!…read moreIt's delightful! Poogan's Porch is a couple blocks off the main Market/Bay path, but it's still close to a good number of hotels and historic sites. It was a casual 15 minute stroll from my hotel right on E Bay. The service and food were excellent and the setting is inside a finely converted historic style home. We had a reservation for brunch on a weekday, but it wouldn't have been impossible to walk in that time of day. I would assume that it gets busier on weekends and in more tourist seasons. There is an option for outside seating, but in the Charleston heat and humidity, we opted for sitting inside. My friend and I each got cocktails and entrees. Cocktails were generously sized and reasonably priced. I was right to get the cajun remoulade on the side of my Fried Chicken Sandwich as this allowed me to dole out my spice as I could tolerate. My friend's Chicken and Waffles were fluffy and moist. The seasoning on these boneless chicken tenders was *chef's kiss*. Here's the only thing that I will mention as a drawback: The bathrooms. I understand this is a converted house and the historic-ness is part of its charm. However, when your women's bathroom has two stalls and one of the toilets isn't screwed into the floor and you cannot close the door without straddling the bowl... there's an impact to your enjoyment of the restaurant. I would emphasize this even more when the waste basket in the bathroom is overflowing and there are multiple hosts at the host stand waiting for customers to come in. If you haven't been to Poogan's Porch, it's worth a visit the next time you're in Charleston.

Especially enjoyed the combination of Brussels Sprouts on a bed of pureed parsnips. We had the flounder and the Gumbo for our entrees. And while they didn't look very substantial, we were quickly full. The ciabatta and parmesan butter that we couldn't resist may have had a little to do with that.

The fish and grits were ok. They too were bland and needed salt. A LOT of salt or any other seasoning. The okra, Lima beans and corn that come in this dish also tasted like it came out of a frozen bag. There is no seasoning in this dish whatsoever. Unfortunately this place was a miss and we won't be returning. Also the bathrooms look like a porta potty. You know the cheap plastic that porta potties are made out of? Everyone was so personable and attentive. For appetizers, the beef carpaccio was my favorite. For entrées, we ordered the pork chop, tuna, duck, and lamb -- and we all shared bites. Everything was delicious. My pork chop did come out a little dry, but when I mentioned it, our waitress didn't hesitate at all. She immediately took it back and insisted on bringing a new one, making me feel completely comfortable about saying something. While I waited, she brought me a complimentary soup, which was such a thoughtful touch, and the replacement came out quickly. The manager personally brought out the new dish and waited while I cut into it to make sure it was perfect. She even came back later to check again. That level of attention to detail really stood out. To top it off, they brought out dessert and a round of champagne for the table. I wasn't drinking, and they noticed -- so they brought me a mocktail without me even asking. That kind of attentiveness is rare. The inside looked beautiful, and I'd love to sit inside next time to experience the full vibe, but outside was perfect -- not too cold, not windy, and overall just a great atmosphere. We were seated on the first floor in a room near the street. We loved how each room had a different ambiance to it! It really is a beautiful restaurant with a lot of charm to it! Our waitress was very nice! She was very helpful with her recommendations and very attentive. My husband and I both ordered drinks and my daughter ordered a Shirley Temple. Her Shirley Temple was extremely grenadine heavy, which I think they assumed they were doing her a favor, but she was a bit overwhelmed by how sweet it was. They serve it with a Sprite instead of Ginger Ale, just FYI. For dinner, I of course had to order the She Crab soup. Believe the hype! It was the best She Crab soup I had in Charleston. It was sheer perfection. I ordered the Skillet Chicken Cutlets and my husband had the Braised Beef Short Ribs. His dinner was delicious, the short ribs were so soft and tender and just melted in your mouth. I enjoyed the few bites of his more than my chicken, even though my meal was still good. There was A LOT of corn with my meal, but everything had such a great taste to it. We rounded the dinner off with a piece of Pecan Pie and vanilla ice cream which was very good as well. This restaurant is definitely on the more expensive side so be ready to drop a pretty penny. Overall, it was pretty darn good, and we will probably be back!
