I will happily recommend Bookstore to family and friends and will never use another moving company. I worked with a different moving company 2 years ago that left me scarred for life with how rude and unprofessional they were. I ended up having to finish the job myself (moving my giant couch up four flights of stairs), so when I knew I was moving again, I did my due diligence and sought out a few quotes. Another company quoted me almost $800 and required a 3 hour minimum for the job!! $800 seemed steep and I knew the job wouldn't take that long... Along came Bookstore Movers who quoted me a reasonable $470 minimum for two hours of work and a maximum of $680 for 3.5 hours of work (price breakdown: $140 per hour with 2 hour min. plus a $190 truck fee). I received a quote within a few hours of requesting it. There was no deposit required and the date was booked. I received detailed emails leading up to the move about FAQs, tips for a seamless move, and the names of my crew including contact info for the crew lead. Abdul (crew lead), Niiwayo "Y.O", and Milly were SO fast and friendly. They wrapped every single item with care in drop cloths and got to moving immediately. Despite the 90 degree heat and a total of five flights of stairs, the job was finished in 2 hours. I was SO impressed. I was so traumatized by my last move that I literally had to walk away while they moved the couch in but before I knew it, I got a text from my boyfriend telling me they had fit it through the door and our living room was all set up. I was so relieved and happy to work with them. If and when we move again, (hopefully not anytime soon, lol), I will 100% be contacting Bookstore Movers... and you should too!

This was not an issue of "budget," but rather of expectations set by your company not being met. Customers should be able to rely on a moving service to honor the scheduled time, come prepared, and communicate honestly. Unfortunately, that did not happen here. What's more telling is that several other reviews describe the same experience I had--so this isn't an isolated issue. Instead of addressing that pattern, your assumption is that I "couldn't afford the move"... interesting. While I understand setbacks can occur, dismissing concerns by blaming the customer is not good business practice. My review reflects my experience so that future customers can make informed decisions.

Everything about my experience with Ally Moving deserves a 5+ rating. Getting the estimate is easy and hassle-free. They quoted a fair price. They communicated precise arrival/start times. The 4-man crew showed up on time. They were friendly, attentive. They took VERY GOOD care of my furniture and household goods. They wrapped everything, moved carefully. And, the move was larger than they expected, so it was going to take MUCH longer than the quoted number of hours. The manager, Alejandro, got on the phone with me, communicated with his crew, so he'd know exactly what was going on, and instead of allowing me to pay MUCH more over the estimate, he asked me if I'd be willing to transition to a fixed price for the move. We negotiated the fixed price, which as MORE than fair -- it was generous... He was so concerned about making sure that I had a positive experience. During the negotiations, the crew kept working... They even sent a second crew, at no additional cost to help finish the move. Y'all! This is not my first rodeo. I have moved a LOT in the past 15 years, and I have NEVER walked away feeling like the moving company wasn't shady... The crew was nice, professional, helpful... and THANKED ME when they finished the job. I won't even bother shopping around for my next move. ALLY MOVING is MY moving company.
