Fantastic set done my Tina at G Nails. Her and Kieth have always gone above to make my dream nails come true. Highly recommend this spot. Great prices, amazing attention to detail, and overall great people. Their salon is always clean and relaxing. I cannot recommend them enough!!
Best Nail Salon in Davis. GO HERE!!!!!! They are understaffed because of the pandemic, and as a result, do not do walk-ins, but by appointments only. You can easily get an appointment for the next day. My appointment was for 12:30, was seen right away, and I believe I was out ~1:45. I made an appointment for a mani/pedi, no gel. Not only did Keith give me a long and strong massage, hot stones that were actually hot, callus removal, lotion, hot towels, cuticle care, etc, but watching him effortlessly put the polish on, in seconds, was so satisfying!! We talked the whole time and he told me about his kids in college and their career goals and aspirations, along with how hard it's hit their business during the pandemic. It really makes you want to support this business, like many Davis locals do. The female nail tech was super friendly as well, smiled and asked how my day was and asked what shape I wanted, asked how I liked it throughout her shaping my nails as well. They accept cash, card, Venmo and Zelle. Entire treatment was $43, without tip.
Update: just want to show you guys how good it looks a month later. No peeling or chipping, just grown out they did such a careful job shaping my nail to what I wanted. They're always so good to my nails and do such a good job with gel, it lasts for a while (3 weeks) the only reason I get them redone is bc my nails grow out. Annnnndd all for $25 love th
I've gone to G Nail twice for dip nail extensions and had appointments with Tina, and both were very pleasant experiences! It took 3 weeks before I had any lifting and needed a fill and I work with my hands a lot so I was surprised. Tina always makes sure I'm happy with the nail length and shape, and always does an amazing job!
3 weeks later and still going STRONG! These nails just won't quit. I have a lot of grow but I'm rolling with it because not a single nail has chipped. I'm not sure how they did it. I'm super active and not the most careful person in the world and they're in great shape.
I went there to remove my acrylic nails. The lady didnt soak my nails first, instead she tried to take it off brutally by using other fake nails. THIS IS NOT THE PROFESSIONAL WAY TO REMOVE ACRYLIC!!!BUT THEY SAY IT'S OK !!I told her it hurts so she soaked the other ones remained. I asked her why she didn't use it at first, she said because it takes too much time to remove it. (so she rather makes her customer feels extremely painful than using the proper way)After soaking my nails, she used the drill and accidentally went to deep that hurt my actual nail. It was too painful that I screamed and told her to stop. The guy (manager?) asked me to leave and told me this is how they remove acrylic nails. i went to other nail salons in davis and they said what she did was a total bs and she was just trying to save her time. Look at my nails they look so awful. No apologies. No compensation. But ask me to leave with a really bad attitude.

3 WEEKS LATER I didn't take a picture of my (gel) nails when I first got them done but it's been 3 weeks and they haven't chipped or started lifting. Service was great and prices are pretty fair. They take walk ins but I recommend making an appointment anyway. read more

* Horrible communication. * Horrible service. * Make (double) sure they understand what you want to be safe and not have a crappy experience like I did. Horrible experience. Took a couple family members here to get their nails done. The lady at the front couldn't understand what we wanted even though it seemed straightforward. After about 5 minutes of picking a color it seemed like she knew the girls I brought wanted acrylics. Shortly after the girls sat down to get their nails worked on, one girl realized that the person doing her nails started to paint her real (very short) nails and was confused. She said she wanted fake nails and they didn't seem to understand. Then they replied to her rudely that it would cost $50! We said no thanks we didn't want to pay $50 for fake nails and then they charged me $10/girl because they "cut their cuticles." What a joke. It seemed like none of the employees there that day spoke English well and it was incredibly frustrating. This is unfortunate because I've had positive experiences in the past getting pedicures there. Will not be back. read more

I went for the first time to G-nails and could not be more pleased! I called ahead of time and made an appointment for the following day. I highly suggest making an appointment as when I was there the nail technicians had to tell customers they were booked for the day. My gel manicure was perfect, she spent a lot of time on my nails, an hour! I will definitely be returning. read more

Got an acrylic full set and asked for a cloud design, which Tina did so well! They accommodated our party of 3 super well and definitely worked for quality even though we put them behind schedule. read more

Don't come here! So many red flags!!! I went here for the first time on Monday and my experience was not too bad. I had Keith do my nails and he was careful with shaping my nails. It cost me $25 for gel on my natural nails and an additional $8 for 6 pieces of small jewels on two fingers each (I thought that this was a bit pricey, but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt since I was new there). I left somewhat satisfied since Keith tried to accommodate to any of the fixes I wanted throughout the process however, the jewels just looked really chunky due to 3 layers of top coat and small bubbles formed. A day later one of the jewels that I got on my nails came off (due to a lack of bind from the coats to the actual nail) and I decided to come back that day and have them re-done. I came in already expecting a charge. The lady owner of the store said it would be $3 to add a jewel back on and $6 to just take the jewels off and repaint all together. I decided to just add one jewel back on since adding them on already cost me $8 and I couldn't justify $6 more. Another male technician tried to fix my nails this time. His English wasn't the best and I guess he couldn't really understand what I was asking of him. He added more layers of paint to the nail with the missing jewel since the paint did chip off with the jewel, but he did it in a way where it came off really chunky. It's really hard to blend the paint in on a small spot without it looking obviously redone. He kept adding more top coat and more layers of paint to the point where my already bulky jewels became big blobs of top coat. The color also had a clear line from where the new layers of paint were compared to the original paint. He tried added more paint onto the other finger with jewels (which were perfectly fine) with more layer of paint and top coat and made it worse. At the end of it, including my original paint, I had a total of about 13 total coats of paint and top coat on one finger and it looked really bulky. Eventually, I couldn't see myself being happy with the results since it came out really bad that I just asked him to take it all off and do a regular coat. He started rushing the process since he had a new customer come in to do a pedicure. He was rough when he was buffing out my nails and applied the coats of paint unevenly. After all of that, I noticed more things that just didn't sit well with me. -He didn't bring out a new set of clean tools -Brought over clippers that were in the pedicure section to take off the jewels on my finger -Didn't clean anything off from the station from the previous customer -The feet tubs did not have a plastic bag lining which could cause transfer of foot fungus from other customers -They accept card BUT REALLY emphasized cash was better. I wanted to pay with card since I wasn't sure if I had enough cash and he asked the owner how much to charge me. She said to charge an EXTRA DOLLAR for card transactions under $10 which is ILLEGAL. On top of that, they were about to charge me this charge WITHOUT telling me (also illegal). I only noticed when he typed in $7 instead of $6 and I had to ask why. Shops are only allowed to charge max 4% surcharge to compensate credit card transaction fees. My fix cost me $6 and with a $1 surcharge that is a 16.67% surcharge. I unwillingly searched for enough cash to hand over and left. Sketchy business tactics. Overall, I paid $25 (gel) + $8 (jewels) + $6 (original tip) + $6 (fix) = $45 for a basic gel manicure that they should have gotten right the first time. I left tearing up and so frustrated that I'm sitting in my car right outside writing this. TLDR: pricey, poor tech, scammy, unsanitary, and illegal charges. read more

Went here twice. Once for a pedicure, once for a full set. The place was relaxing and they really took their time on you. I felt it could have been a bit cleaner, like having liners in the foot tub's. I also didn't like that the foot tubs had no spa. A lot of the chairs were taped and old but the massage feature still worked. They played fun music like Mamma Mia and Greece. The people who worked there while professional we're not overly friendly. There was no price list on the wall so I didn't even know how much my manicure was and it was more than I was expecting. Overall I'm pleased with the results. But no obvious sterilization and some hygiene along with run down equipment has me hesitant to return. read more

I've been to soooo many nail salons and have finally found one I'll be sticking with! They did a fabulous job painting my nails. I got a gel manicure and a pedicure. Both of which were great and relaxing. They were able to do both at the same time which was really good for me as I was limited with time. My toe nail polish is still perfect 2 weeks later and my manicure is absolutely chip-less and still perfect after 2 weeks. Just grown out as expected. Will be going back to get them repainted! Great array of color options as well. Photo 1 is my manicure right after I got it done and the second photo is still perfectly painted 2 weeks later! I cannot stress enough of a great job they did with my manicure. I've been too so many places that paint nude colors unevenly. So pleased! The pricing is just about the same as all salons. read more

Love this place! I wanted to treat myself and get my nails done before graduation and my friend had recommended me this place. I am so glad she did! I made an appointment for 10 AM and was out of there by 10:45! Super fast, but that isn't to say they did a horrible job. Keith did my nails and he did an amazing job! He took his time and was very careful. It was everything I could have asked for. I got a gel manicure with a light pink color and silver ombre. Wanted something neutral, yet glam for graduation. I am SO HAPPY with how they turned out. I can't stop looking at my nails! I got ombre on all of my nails and the total came out to $32. A normal gel manicure is usually $25. Not a bad price difference for getting something a little extra. I will definitely be back here the next time I get my nails done. I highly recommend booking an appointment and going earlier in the day rather than later. I called on a Wednesday afternoon at 12 PM (the day before my appointment) to see if I could go in a day earlier to get my nails done, but the person on the phone said it was pretty busy. If you do go in the afternoon, give yourself plenty of time in case there's a wait! read more

I've been here a couple times now, and I love my nails every time I leave! I almost always make an appointment, and I've never had a problem with timing; though that might be because I usually schedule before 11am. I admit that sometimes they can take a while (the longest I've been here was for a refill for almost 2 hours), but I think it's worth it because I'm obsessed with my nails afterwards. The picture is from the most recent time that I went! The shape is so perfect and consistent, there's 0 bubbles, and I'm really just happy with it overall. I've tried some other places before, usually just whatever is near me at the time, but I think this place is one of my favorites because I feel like they usually put a lot of effort into doing a good job. read more

This is my absolute favorite nail place! The technicians are very sweet and extremely knowledgeable. They were so patient with me as I took my time to choose a color. Once the nail polish was on one nail, they checked in to make sure I liked it. They offered to remove it and allow me to choose another color if I didn't. They took their time and made sure my nails were perfect. The tropical pedi was a much needed "spa day" type experience. It includes a nice scrub, massage and hot stones. I've been coming here for a few years and it's always a wonderful experience. read more

This place is amazing! I've been coming here on and off for the past couple of years for my pedi and gel manicures and I always walk out feeling like a superstar. The staff is super friendly and talented, and Keith is absolutely superb. While you're here, take a look at the beautiful photos on the wall -- Keith, in addition to being a fantastic manicurist, is a great photographer, and all the photos were taken by him in Vietnam. So cool! I had to post a review for this place after today -- I got a gel manicure with the special reflective 3D effect and it looks stunning -- I'm so happy with how it came out! read more
I made an appointment a week before coming in last Friday. As per yelp recommendations I got a gel manicure with Keith. When i walked in he was already helping someone else so I waited 10-15 min before starting my nails. I didnt mind as its graduation weekend and its understandable. We finished the manicure within 45 min which was GREAT! Keith is amazing, he pays attention to small details and makes sure to treat your hands/nails with care. My total came to $30 before tip ($25 plus $5 for design i guess). I'll definitely be coming back but i HIGHLY recommend making an appointment before hand just to make sure you are accommodated. read more

i usually never review places but i had to give a shoutout to nancy, who has done my nails twice so far!! she is very clean and meticulous with her work and the first gel mani she gave me lasted a whole month, with not much chipping!! my nails usually break within the first two weeks of getting gel manis because nail techs will just pile on layers of the gel polish but nancy takes her time to make sure each layer is super smooth and thin, which leaves my nails super lightweight and healthy!! i came again today to refresh the old blue set she gave me and my nails were the longest they've ever been, which means they've been super healthy even under the gel mani she did for me. she did a really great job with my new green set, which looks amazing. not to mention, nancy is also the sweetest woman ever and i love our conversations!! you are looking for a really great nail tech, come to g nails and ask for nancy, you will not regret it!! :-) read more

Probably the best nail place in Davis, but for full transparency, it should be noted that I haven't been to any other nail place in Davis besides here. It's because I have no need to. This place is great, there's no harsh chemical smell, and the people there are all friendly. The lady who does my nails is very skilled and always able to do what I ask. I always have a full set on, and I am very particular. For the past three years I've been going to my nail salon in Sacramento (see review for GG Salon) but upon moving to Davis I figured it would be more practical to explore my options within this city. I stumbled upon this salon based on other Yelp reviews/recommendation from a friend. First impression: Very clean and more on the upscale end in terms of decor and ambience. Lots of stations and manicurists on staff so the wait wasn't too long. They do accept walk in's AND they have an ATM on site. Kudos to them for that. I got my fill and polish change with gel paint and gel powder with gel protective coat on top for $35. I'm sure you can find a similar service for cheaper but its been a week and my nails still look shiny, shapely, and like I just got them done. BEST NEWS: they offer a 10-day guarantee, meaning, if within 10 days of getting your nails done there is something you are unhappy with/they messed up and you're just now noticing, they will fix it free of charge no questions asked. Amazing. Tina did my nails and was very thorough and paid attention to the details. I am extremely happy with the services provided and am happy to have found my new nail spot in Davis. Highly recommend checking this establishment out!! read more

Went in for an acrylic/gel polish fill and was very pleased with the result ! She made sure that I liked the shape of my nails and kept asking me if there were any adjustments I'd like to make. Very wide selection of gel polish colors too. She took her time doing my nails to make sure they came out perfect ! Would 10/10 recommend ! read more

As much as I want to give this place five stars because I LOVE LOVE my pedicure. There were plenty of red flags that made me question whats up with this place. So let me illustrate my experience. The moment I walked in, the place looked clean, organized, and the selection of nail polish was excellent. They even had my favorite color: OPI Dulce de Leche! I was very excited to see it on their cute apple nail-polish rack. Wyn or Lyn I don't remember her name exactly, seated me. She was an excellent pedicurist. The massage that she gave me was probably the best one I have received from a pedicure. I requested the basic pedicure, which included hot stones and a hot towel. This was so relaxing, can't wait to try their upgrades. Wyn did a great job painting and shaping my toe nails. I am telling you she is good at what she does and is super sweet After all of this I am waiting for my pedi to dry, and the lady adjacent to me is getting a full on mani and pedi with two people working on her. Next thing you know the individual working on her mani kicks my sandals out of the way. ARE YOU SERIOUS? I couldn't believe it, and to make matters worse he kicked them into some oil substance and now my leather sandals are stained. I wasn't too thrilled. At this point I am already annoyed. I go to pay and try to use the OptTown 20% off a pedicure discount. They tell me it is invalid. ARE YOU SERIOUS? As a business I felt that was extremely unprofessional because it is FALSE advertisement. They didn't even match it. Maybe if I had made a bigger deal about it they would have but i just paid my $27 and left. Ps I think pedicures are usually 25 but i got a cute little flower design. I do see myself coming back because of Wynn. I was just a little disappointed as a first time customer. read more

I've been getting my nails done for over 10 years and this is the very best nail salon I've ever been to. I would even drive in from the Bay just to get a full set here!! Always well shaped acrylic that look natural. Quick in and out but busy on Saturdays for sure! Owned by a great couple that really care about the quality of their work. I highly recommend read more

I don't usually write reviews, but even for a booked afternoon before a holiday (Thanksgiving) G-nails did an amazing job and I couldn't be happier with the results of my nails! I had a set an appt. @ 4 and got attended 15 mins after by Tina. (I suggest making an appt.) She was very attentive and made sure everything was to my liking. I asked for a full set of gel acrylics with a coffin shape. Tina even helped me pick a shimmery gold for the holidays which I absolutely love! My gel acrylics cost me $45 without a tip. read more

Absolutely love this place! Been here a few times here and there over the last 4 years, and always left completely satisfied. There are also like over 500 colors to choose from, and they're conveniently organized on the racks by color shade. Today I decided to come back for a fill, and a pedicure. I've been to many nail salons in Davis, and I have to say this place has the most affordable prices and they give great service. The lady who did my pedicure was very thorough and precise, and actually gave me a 10 minute wonderful massage. We all know every place claims to do 10 minutes, but only does 5... So I'm sure you can imagine my excitement. I was the very last customer of the day, and my nails took longer to finish than the store was open for. But Tina still took her time, leaving my nails flawless. She made them look and feel like a new full set! Keith is awesome too! They're both super sweet and funny. This is by far my favorite nail salon in Davis. Looks like I'll be getting my biweekly fills and monthly pedicures here from now on! read more

Tina did my gel manicure today and it's by far, the best manicure I've had in FOREVER!!! A lot of times when you're getting gel nail polish, they do a half-ass job on the actual manicure. It looks messy and he gel tends to peel sooner than it should. My nail beds and cuticles look so CLEAN! I'll be back for sure! read more

Tina and Keith do an amazing job and are wonderful people! I usually come in with a design on my phone that I'd like and they are awesome at replicating it with great attention to detail. My previous full set lasted about 3 weeks without chipping or losing polish at all, so I just got a fill this time. Always a pleasant experience read more
