Ham and Navy Bean Soup with Shrimp Salad Sandwich and chips Half Soup Half Sandwich
Jay G.

Really enjoyed our lunch here! It was a great overall experience with attentive service and fast food delivery. My wife did the half soup/half sandwich combo with the Shrimp Salad Sandwich and the Ham & Navy Bean Soup. She really enjoyed the shrimp salad and said the flavors in both dishes were well-prepared and seasoned. The soup had a ton of ham, though she noted she would have loved a few more beans in the mix. I ordered the Shack Burger (medium rare with cheddar and bacon) with a side of hand-cut fries. The burger was a winner, a good-sized patty cooked perfectly to temperature with a nice char-grilled flavor and perfectly melted cheese. The fries had great texture (crispy outside, soft inside) and flavor, though I do wish they had arrived a little hotter. Our waitress was attentive and kept checking in on us. We will definitely be back to try other dishes, ideally on a Monday for "Burger Day"!

Cool little bar! It's a little tight for seating but we found some space at the bar. Plenty of TVs for sports and good drinks- I had an ipa and my friend had a white wine. The food was good bar food, we tried the Reuben egg rolls and the chicken wrap- they did run out of grilled chicken somehow but subbed tenders which actually made it taste really good.

Sat at the bar for happy hour and was pretty happy with their happy hour specials! $8 food options is a pretty good deal! I had the wings and shrimp specials. Everything was delicious. Could use more seasoning on the shrimp. The vibe is local dive bar which I like for a chill HH. Parking is in the back and enter through the stairs under the awning.

Referencing the 'bar', not the restaurant. Catonsville. If you like useless 'bar tenders' that are drunk and only 'see' regular customers and completely ignore new customers, this is the place for you ! ! !

So I ran across this restaurant just looking for something different. This restaurant has a setup for a restaurant, and then you have your bar side with the tvs. The people were very friendly and had a nice atmosphere. The food was good. I had a burger that was juicy and cooked well with a side of French fries. It was a nice place for me to stumble across. Stop by and check them out.

The Buffalo Salad

Went here before a comedy show and they did not disappoint. We ordered the Three Amigos Dip Tray and could not stop eating it. This tray had the right amount of Chips for the 3 dips and made you want more. My sister ordered the Buffalo Salad and I ordered the Rueben...yummmmmy. The buffalo chicken on the salad was tender and juicy with fresh lettuces and toppings. My Rueben was made to perfection. Tender with each bite, fries are the best I have ever had, salted lightly and crispy. We forgot we had margaritas to drink...lol. Our waitress stayed on top of things and we gave her a great tip. Will be going again when in the area.

I've driven by ths place for the last 3 years and finally decided to stop in. The Parking lot is behind the building. There is a small driveway up the hill/behind. Kind of tight but big enough for 30+ cars. They have an outdoor tent set up for persons who would rather dine outside. You go DOWN the stairs to enter the Grill. Once met there, there is a small hallway and the waitress led us to our table. The dining area was really clean. had the perfect ambiance of light and decor. We esp. loved the painings of Baltimore. Farther down the hallway were the bathrooms and at the end was a Bar. There is also an area at the front of the bar that looks like a porch- where ppl can go outside to. I'm assuming it's for people to smoke (this area can be seen while driving by) Came on a Friday night around 8PM. The bar was pretty full and lively. Dining area had silent TVs playing. Jamie, our waitress, was super nice! I had a Blackberry Sangria, which was good. Had a bit of fizz to it. I also had the Steak salad $14, with vinegrette on the side. Steak seemed to be medium well. A few times I couldn't chew thru the steak lol and almost had to spit it out because I was tired of chewing and afraid of swalling because I might choke. I wasn't completely hungry so it filled me up but I wouldn't get it if I came in starved. My niece had something like a Sheppards Pie. Came with a crisp side salad. Then the pie was delivered in a cast iron skilled on a plate warmer. It was hot! But she said it was really good and ate it all :) The kitchen staff were rather loud and we could hear every. single. cuss. word they were saying back there. We sat at the first table at the entrance from where you walked in. The dining room tables were pretty spacious. the bar area looked full with no social distancing. I would like to try the bar area on a warm day (post covid)

Wings (hot)

The place is hidden, parking in the back of the building. I used the back entrance in the parking lot , no host. A waiter just told us to sit anywhere and she'd get to us. My social anxiety not knowing where to sit or who to ask for help lol but thats a me issue. The place overall is nice , they have a bar section with sports playing on the tvs , even the dining area has tvs playing. The waitress was really nice and gave my husband and I refills on time. She checked in multiple times and was in good spirits. We had the wings for appetizer and they were THE BEST wings we've ever had 100000000/10 . Will definitely go back just for the wings. I ordered the chicken sandwich and my husband ordered a bacon cheese burger which were both good. Chicken sandwich was a 8/10 and the burger was a 6/10 just a basic burger nothing to stand out. We will definitely go back again to try some other items on the menu. The price was good too. We paid 42$ for our meals & drinks.

so I've lived in Catonsville for many years. I have never been to this restaurant. So, a group of high school friends from the 70s gathered there for a BI monthly lunch. I was totally blown away as to just how good of a restaurant it is especially one with such a local flare and bar crowd. food was well presented and beautifully served by Kelsey. A great waitress though a group of 12 still gave Independent checks. My ham and turkey club was perfect. The french fries were great and the small was the best I've had in a local restaurant in many years the shrimp salad was marvelous and we had a wonderful time and will be coming back, I encourage anyone regardless of where they live to stop by and have a great lunch or dinner at this super restaurant

Left happy with a belly full of the pork nachos and fish & chips! Beer is decently priced compared to restaurants downtown - a plus.

Our party of 6 did not have a reservation and ended up waiting about 1.5 hours on a Friday. The hosts seemed a bit overwhelmed with the busyness of the evening - not sure if they just needed some extra hands on deck. Outpost has good cocktails and mocktails. The wings are a go-to for us and the burger does not dissapoint at all. However the star of the show at our last visit was the Brussels sprouts!! Sooo flavorful and crisped up. Highly recommend. Vibes were comfy and cozy, with a neighborhood bar feel where if you're a regular they probably know your name and drink order. Parking is very tricky because this restaurant is in a residential area. My bf got the halloumi carbonara but unfortunately it was quite salty. Not just the crispy halloumi bits but the actual noodles and sauce as well. I got the brazillian picanha and though there was a miscommunication about the meat temp, it was promptly handled and I enjoyed the steak itself. The sides of mashed potatoes and asparagus however were a little weak compared to the steak itself. I can't explain it but the seasoning felt a bit off on the horseradish mashed potatoes. Dessert was excellent- we split the chocolate guava tart.

I don't write reviews lightly, but what happened at Willy's has crossed every line of safety,…read moreprofessionalism, and basic human decency. My fiancé and I have supported this local spot for years. It used to be a reliable go-to. But over time, something shifted--and now I know exactly what it is: the cook, Laura. On 11/28, I ordered steak and eggs. What I was served was not just unappetizing--it was dangerous. The steak smelled rancid, oozed a grayish liquid, and had visible discoloration. We flagged it immediately. Today, we returned to follow up and were horrified to learn that Laura had been explicitly told not to use those steaks because they were spoiled--and she served them anyway. Let that sink in. Why wasn't the meat discarded? Why did she knowingly serve it? Is she untrained, negligent, or something worse? And more importantly--why is she still employed? This isn't an isolated incident. Months ago, I stopped in for a quick lunch and became violently ill within the hour. I had to pull over to vomit and missed an important business meeting. I suspected something was off then, and from that point on, I would call ahead to make sure Laura wasn't cooking. Recently, I gave her the benefit of the doubt. That was a mistake. There's a level of disregard here that feels personal. When I asked to speak with her after learning about the spoiled meat, the staff refused and smirked like it was a joke. It's not. This could have led to hospitalization--or worse. This is a public health issue. Laura's actions were reckless, and the restaurant's failure to act is inexcusable. I'm mortified, furious, and deeply disappointed. Willy's was once a place I proudly supported. Now, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Until there's accountability, I won't be back--and I urge others to think twice before risking their health here.

This is a familiar place that updates the look and menu now and then, yet still feels like home. We often get a beet salad when it's available. Matthew's is scrumptious, with tender sweet juicy roasted beets, tasty grilled chicken, red onion slices and fresh spinach, tangy crumbled bleu cheese, and delightful candied walnuts, complimented by tart raspberry vinaigrette. By the way, it's gluten-free. We loved the rich cream of crab soup du jour, full of crab lumps and full of flavor, with a little spice from good old Old Bay. Delicious and dreamy. Their quesadillas were served a la carte as an appetizer, loaded with savory roasted chicken, heavy with a mild cheese and a lightly spicy flavorful thick red sauce, rolled in tender lightly seared flour tortillas. Generous and satisfying. Matthew's building dates from around 1862 as a station and hotel at the end of a horse-car line, before electricity! It's been through around 5 names over the years, and has been the Parsons family's Matthew's 1600 since 2004. We've felt comfortable and welcomed here for decades. It has plenty of free parking in their own lot. By the way, many of their already reasonable prices are discounted a little if you pay cash.
