The entire staff treats my Rylee like their own, which truly sets them apart. I had a wonderful real-life confirmation of this when I was at the Santee Concerts in the Park with Rylee. My cats are part of my family, and I wholeheartedly trust the animal care team at Furry Friends!

I'd put off this updated review for some time. I was very happy with the place for a while. But then suddenly they decided to not let me bring my dog there for any services. He used to go for nail trims because he fought the clippers to the point that it wasn't something could do myself. As it was it took four women to hold him down and one to do the clipping. But I worried about his severely overgrown nails causing skeletal issues or other problems. So I brought him back a few times till finally one woman said they shouldn't have been doing that and they won't continue. Fine. Then I called and asked on day play for him where they could watch him so other dogs didn't mount him as he has mobility issues and is often bullied by the other dogs he interacts with. They flat out refused and said that he can't come back. I asked about boarding in the future and was told he can't come back for anything anymore. No explanation or anything. My dog is a big friendly boy who never aggressed or acted out. So no clue why he was denied but I was shocked! It seemed like it was because I asked for day play where he was supervised to prevent mounting and bullying. Which is reasonable to ask for! Maybe supervising the dogs to prevent bullying is asking too much?!! Idk, but I'll never recommend them to anyone else after rejection without cause. Save your time and money. Find a better doggy daycare/boarding that doesn't deny you without cause. read more

I boarded my beloved senior dog with dementia and anxiety with Furry Friends. He is on anti anxiety meds at home already which he needed as he gets confused. I was told one day into it that he was not responding to the additional Gabapantine they were giving him. And that he was crying and barking. I went to the webcam to check up on him and sadly, they had a panel in front of his suite. I could barely see him but he was pacing around his suite. O called to check up on my baby and was told that the panel was so that he will not be able to see outside and disturb the staff and other dogs as he was apparently needing attention. Three days into it, I was told that TJ is not responding to his meds and was too anxious and that it isn't healthy for him. I was asked to pick him up right then and there or we will have to end our vacation and fly back from Hawaii. That he was a distraction to the staff and other dogs. Apparently they had to medicate the dog next to his suite because he started to bark as well. Luckily, my son was home and able to pick TJ up. I am a mom of a senior dog and I felt that he was kicked out because he didn't fit their standard of a well behaved, cute, dog who doesn't bark. Very exclusive hotel. I continued with my vacation although I was so upset that a pet hotel whose staff are supposed to be dog lovers are not capable of taking care of a little challenged dog. If my dog is crying then he must sense a negative environment. I noticed that this hotel is too quick to give Gabapentin just to quiet the dogs. I wonder what they would have done if I couldn't get a flight home soon enough for them. Will they take him to a Shelter? My heart ached for my senior dog. I felt that they rejected my baby. Sure, if your dog is well behaved, quiet and obedient, go for it. Stephanie, I was disappointed that as the resort manager, you did not directly speak to me about kicking out TJ. How would you feel if TJ was your dog? I rarely give a review, but this is an important issue that dog owners need to be aware of. July 19,2025 Tried to email Furry Friends asking for a copy of TJ's medicine record but unable to send as they had blocked me from their box. They not only rejected my dog, they denied me from my rights to a review, good or bad. They didn't earn 5 stars from me. I wished that I had taken a photo of that panel. I have been taking my dogs to the Cuyamaca Animal hospital their entire lives pretty much. It was only natural that I'd seek the same owners out to take care of my furry animals when I'm on vacation as well. It was piece of mind knowing if they had any health emergencies, the vet was in the same building to take care of the. Also since the staff worked for Cuyamaca Hospital, I knew they would properly take care of them and be knowledgeable. This kennel has always been the place where I leave my dogs when taking vacations abroad and I've yet to experience any issues. The Furry Friends resort has grown substantially since it's existence, they moved into a larger retail spot across the way and now have amazing updated facilities. Everytime I've visited I was impressed with the cleanliness and the way staff interacted with the animals. Their prices are a bit higher than many other places, but it's worth it in my opinion and I think others agree as well. The resort is constantly booked with animals and remember to schedule ahead as it's hard to reserve days around holidays and common vacation times. Furry Friends Resort has been the only placed I've recommended to people to leave their animals when away on vacation. read more

I was hesitant to board my owner-protective dog until a friend recommended Furry Friends, and I couldn't be happier. My dog has stayed with Furry Friends twice in the past two months, and I have another stay booked. I want to highlight Alyssa--she is especially great with challenging dogs. Went in with our rabies shot info to get the lowdown For a nail cut. She took the info. and set up a time for the following week, adding that they also do baths. We discussed meds and procedures at that time. I was there talking with the employee at the front desk for about ten min. when scheduling. This week, When nobody called to confirm the day before, I called in to confirm the apt myself. I was told they had "tried" to call to explain their "no fear" procedure, as well as additional vaccine requirements (plural) for the bath. They said they had no apt time on the books for my dog. Further, they don't like to muzzle so if the dog isn't standing willingly, it may be a no go. This was the opposite of what the other employee told me. In addition, Nobody was on my phone log as a missed call or a message left. She just kept saying she tried. She confirmed she had my correct number. Seems like nobody tried. I wouldn't call that bad customer service. I'd call it nonexistent. Perhaps the first woman should have been trained before being left alone to man the operation. Or at the very least, a little more effort made in trying to get ahold of me to explain the real rules? As my dog is older, with surgeries and a cantankerous disposition about his feet, this won't be the place for him/ even though the first employee assured me it was the perfect place. * In response to your response, the point was none of that information was given to me when I came in to make the appointment, explaining all about the dog at that time. You gave me that information when I called to confirm myself a week later. You even said no apt. Time had been set. I assure you, It had. You said you'd called me, yet I received no call to my phone. Oh man! Love this place!!! My Luna Girl is happy (English yellow lab), and I love that they separate the entrances between cats and dogs. It's the same staff, but cats probably don't need the anxiety of an excited dog before their spa day . As far as my Dog's services, she loved it. She was so happy and didn't want to leave. They made it such a hassle for me to board my dog and then the day before I was leaving OUT OF STATE, they tell me " I think it's best if you board your dog else where " . If your dog barks when they put it in the individual kennel, you can expect a call right away to come get your dog which defeats the purpose as others have said. I've had my dog at many daycares and never experienced this. Who would have thought barking when confined would be grounds for termination? We talked about it and determined any place that demands you pickup your dog because they barked must not be all that passionate about serving the animals, so didn't want to try it again. The service was not friendly, and It's a shame they don't take the time to try and get the dogs comfortable. I had hoped to use this place regularly but unfortunately can't recommend it. read more

We had to drop off my grandma's dog here for a couple of weeks while she (grandma) had surgery. I had many questions when I called because I've never used a pet boarding place before. All of my questions were answered and additional useful information was given. I called another boarding place and there were many hoops to jump through before they can accept your pet. It was pretty easy checking into Furry Friends. The fees were reasonable also. There was a standard room for $50 something and deluxe room for $60 something. Our dog was given medication from the vet and Furry Friends took care of everything while she was there. I had to extend the check out date a couple of times and they were so nice and accommodating. One of the times I completely forgot to call and extend so they contacted me and extended the stay same day with no problems. Furry friend also gave our dog a bath and cut her nails during her stay. They do not have hair cutting services here. Our dog seemed to enjoy her stay. We'll use Furry Friends again in the future if needed. read more

Boarded our dog Ellie for 2 nights while we went out of town, we had the suite which came with bedding, a tv, webcam, and a whole lot of space, I believe it was 6ft x 6ft which we absolutely loved. She has cushings disease which increases her water intake and bathroom breaks, we specifically requested she have extra water in her suite and if possible some extra bathroom breaks. This was our first time boarding her since she was diagnosed with Cushings so we were nervous to see how she would do, she is a shy girl and loves to sleep so the fact that she didn't play to much wasn't a surprise to us, because of her water intake and bathroom breaks I was extremely happy knowing they have someone who comes in at night and takes them out (we caught it on camera both nights) I believe around 10-11pm? Which is typically the last bathroom break she gets at home so it worked out great. Nothing but positive things to say about FFR. They have an indoor play area and outdoor which both are great sizes. My large pittie loooovveesss coming here! He starts crying with excitement when we take the turn into the parking lot cause he's so excited. We come often for day care (just so he can play with dogs his size and energy) and have done overnights also. He immediately falls asleep in the car on the way home and the next day is still tired from the fun he's had. He's consistently well cared for and appreciate the caregivers know him. Great place! I did a lot of research into lots of different places. Chose this one because my puppy would have playtime with a select other dogs/puppies, but not get over-stimulated in a cage-free environment. The "cages" (more like cubicles) are spacious and indoors so they're climate controlled. I like that my puppy can have solitary space to nap and chew her bully stick. I also like that they take cats and take care to keep them separate from the dogs to keep the stress low. Staff are very friendly and can handle medical needs of animals. The only two issues I wish were different were regarding closures. They close daily between 12-2p, so scheduling our drop-offs and pickups can be a challenge. Also, they close on holidays, so it forces me to have to add an extra night of boarding than I want to. But the upsides definitely outweigh the downsides, and I highly recommend Furry Friends! read more

We love Furry Friends. We added two dachshund puppies to our family last October and by December I knew I needed help! Enter Furry Friends! I am a crazy helicopter mom and these puppies are my kids. I wanted to find a place that paid close attention to them while there were in their care. FF is the best! They make sure the size and temperament of the dogs that are in the play group match and give me a full report on their behavior each day. We do the half days and when I pick them up they are exhausted. Daycare has also really helped with socialization for the puppies. We love FF!! read more

Furry Friends offers both daycare and boarding for dogs and cats. Our rescue dog has had anxiety around people and some resource guarding issues, but since bringing her to Furry Friends she is improving. She excitedly greets her favorite staff members when we bring her in for daycare. They have been working with her to feel more confident with the other dogs in the play yard. We have noticed that it has made a tremendous difference with her behavior. I can't recommend Furry Friends enough. read more

I came today Thursday April 22 to drop my dogs off with a reservation made weeks ago. My dog was choking on something he ate walking in and they automatically assumed he was coughing. He stop and then kept on coughing because his colar was tight when u pull the leash and they literally refused them. They even had a check up yesterday and everything was fine and they not even coughing. We literally outside in the car and nothing is happening. I came to this place because it had great reviews and being my first time. I will never come here again or recommend it to anyone no matter what review it have. Two big thumbs up to Furry Friends!! We boarded our beloved 13 year old pug for the very first time ever at Furry Friends this past week. Prior to this, we had always had a pet sitter in-home when we traveled. Unfortunately, our pet sitter recently moved, so we began looking for other options. We are thrilled to have found Furry Friends. Our sweet girl did great there and the staff took wonderful care of her. I did a lot of online research, checking out other boarding and pet sitting options, before deciding on Furry Friends. Here are the top reasons I chose/would recommend Furry Friends: (1) WEBCAM - Furry Friends has an individual webcam on all their pet "luxury suites". Our family really appreciated being able to check on our fur baby while we were away. Having webcam access gave us a huge level of comfort. While we were traveling, we had a flight delay, so literally sat and watched our pug on the webcam for about 10 minutes straight one morning. This is what we saw: Our pug is litter trained and did her "business" in her litter box. (Not terribly exciting in and of itself...) But, within 4 minutes, a Furry Friends staffer was in her suite, cleaning out that litter box. That's what I call exceptional service. Seeing that level of attention to our dog made us all feel that she was in the right place while we were away; (2) AMAZING STAFF - In every single interaction I had with a variety of Furry Friends staff, I was struck by their commitment to the comfort and care of my pet, as well as a genuine love for all of the animals in their care. We had our pug do 2 half-day stays at Furry Friends prior to her week-long board, so she could get used to the facility, and we could assess whether boarding would work well for her. So, I interacted with a variety of staff members. They all seemed to honestly love animals. When I picked up my pug after her second half-day stay, the staffer said with a huge smile, "You're here to pick up the pug-potato!" I LOVED that she referred to our dog by a sweet nickname, that she had made up herself. Little things like that demonstrate to me that the staff enjoy and bond with the animals in their care; (3) EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION - From the first time I telephoned to get general information about the facility to every subsequent interaction, the staff were excellent communicators. I asked for confirmation of our boarding reservation in writing...no problem...they e-mailed it to me on the spot. I added some additional services for our dog's week long stay...they immediately confirmed same in writing. I really appreciated that level of follow-up. I found the administrative side of this business to be exceptionally professional and top-notch; (4) FACILITY LOOKED/SMELLED CLEAN - I toured Furry Friends before deciding on whether to board our dog there. One of the top things on my radar was whether the facility looked/smelled clean. Obviously, dogs themselves have a variety of smells. But, I wanted to assess whether the facility itself was well-maintained. I was really impressed with the cleanliness of Furry Friends. It looked/smelled like cleanliness is a high priority; (5) STEPS AWAY FROM A VETERINARY HOSPITAL - I really appreciated that Furry Friends is literally steps away from Cuyamaca Veterinary Hospital. My dog is 13 years old. While she is in overall good health for her age, I really liked knowing that she was in such close proximity to veterinary assistance, should she need it; (6) OUR DOG CAME HOME HAPPY AND HEALTHY - I waited to write this review until our dog had been home for a few days. (Since this was her first time boarding, would there be any unanticipated after-affects??) No! Our sweet girl came home happy and healthy. I was recommended to Furry Friends by a couple of friends and I was excited to take my puppy here for day care during the week and possible boarding down the road. I talked to the facility 2 times days before my arrival and they told me everything I needed to bring and that I could just bring all paperwork on my appt day. Needless to say when I was checking in they would not accept my shot records because my dog was from another state and the breeded gave them his first set of shots. He was 12 weeks old when I got him and he had to have his rabies to transport him. I had my vet give him a new set of shots because of transportation delays just to be safe. They would not accept the records from the breeder. They really should be clear on the requirements for the shot records. I told them I had 2 sets of records upon arrival. It is 40 miles round trip to get him to furry friends from my house and I'm very disappointed! They offered to "sell" me a new set of shots to let him stay and he has already had 2 sets...a set in Oklahoma and a set here. I will now have to find a new day care and I'm going to be 2 hrs late for work. read more

I boarded my dog here for a few days recently. Everyone was really friendly and understanding. I am one of those people who hates boarding their pet, so I try to make sure everything is perfect. I can get a little annoying I am sure, but they were patient. They even let me put my dog in her kennel and place her blanket down for her. When I left Las Vegas and hit a lot of traffic and we were going to be there past closing, they allowed me to come pick up my dog because she was really stressed and they said would do be happier at home with me. They didn't just say no and get another nights pay out of me. They honestly felt like she was getting too nervous and would be happier at home and allowed me to pick her up. That is a sign of great service! They were really polite though and had great customer service whenever I called to make the reservation or check on my pet. My dog stayed in one of the "suites." She got an extra walk a day and a treat. She stayed for 3 days so they gave her a bath. When we came to pick her up she had nice trimmed nails and a bandana on. They give the dogs 3 walks a day. I was allowed to leave her blanket and favorite toy with her. I also got to leave her special shampoo for them to use and her own food. I also really liked the fact that its run by the vet clinic. If anything goes wrong she is in the best spot to get medical care. read more

We love Furry Friends! They take such good care of our boy, Wesley, and are even helping him socialize with other dogs (something the rescue told us he'd probably never do). We bring him there for day care once a week and board him there for longer trips. Everyone is so kind and they genuinely love our little guy. It's like his home away from home, and we can leave him there with complete confidence that he is being well cared for. We also love that they are affiliated with our vet, so if any medical issues were to come up while we are away, we know he'd get the care he needs. We love Furry Friends! We recently adopted a Belgian Malinois puppy. To say he is full of energy is an understatement. I work from home and need to have some peace a couple times a week while I work. I don't think there is enough space for me to tell you how much I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Furry Friends Resort. I first found them by taking my new Chocolate Lab Quincy to the Cuyamaca Hospital 3 years ago. The first time we used FFR for boarding Quincy was about 7 months old, this was our first time leaving our baby and we were concerned on how he would do and called the resort at least two times a day..they were so kind and caring and understanding and we have boarded Quincy there ever since. I know that I'm leaving him with people who love him and will spoil him just as much as I do. And the fact that he is right next door to his vet makes me feel even better. He is always so happy to go there and when they take him he does'nt even look back at us!! About 1 1/2 years ago we started to take him to doggie daycare because to say Quincy has a lot of energy is an understatement. HE LOVES IT!!! In fact when we are almost to the building he starts to whine and cry and he and can't get out of the car fast enough to get inside to start playing with his friends. The staff loves him and when I get him home he is soooo worn out...its great!! The staff also lets me know if they notice something unusual about Quincy (runny stool, cut's, excessive head shaking etc) This helps me a great deal because I can approve for the Vet to take a look at him while he is already there!! It saves an extra trip to the vet!! As far as cost goes, I can't really say if it is more expensive then anywhere else because I've never taken him anywhere but here... and never will!! The way they treat my boy is worth every penny!! I highly recommend them and Cuyamaca Hospital too!! Love the Vets and Staff!! read more

I can't wait to leave this review.... my cat is currently boarding here for 4 nights while I am away in Texas. It was extremely last minute and they were super accommodating. I've worked at a pet resort as a kennel technician before and that place was AWFUL and so I know the ins and outs and what goes on at these places. I forgot who I spoke with over the phone but I called for a tour of the cattery, got there and Haley (sp?) showed me around and was incredibly sweet and reassuring. I adopted my cat from the humane society not even a year ago so I was very hesitant about boarding him but the environment of the whole facility is small and staffed well so I wasn't too concerned about my boy, Rhett, getting the attention he needs and deserves or him adjusting to his weekend living situation. I called to ask them to put Rhett in the play room so I can watch him on webcam, to my surprise, he was already in there being played with! Which I think is awesome because aside from webcam time, he's still getting out of his kitty condo. As I watched the webcam, Rhett was just a little shy but I saw Haley come in and hand one of the other employees his brush and she started brushing him and he came right out and stayed out! The fact that they were making an effort to make him so comfortable was the best feeling ever. I am a FREAK about my boy and yes I am THAT pet owner, lol. But I couldn't wait till the end of his stay to leave this review because I was just so happy with the way they take care of their furry guests. I'm just updating my review after I wrote my previous one (1-29-13). The day after I wrote my updated review I was contacted by the manager of Furry Friends Pet Resort. She was very friendly, addressed my concerns and apologized for my being let down. She obviously cares about her work and I believe she went out of her way to contact me to let me know she addressed my concerns with the way my furry man was treated during his last visit there. This in my opinion is exceptional customer service.
