So this was a cool little place I happened upon of course in Yelp. I want to take my employees out for a quality cheeseburger and found this one well rated. this restaurant is situated in the middle of the business area in Downtown Amarillo. The young woman that waited on us was very nice very quick and they had an up-to-date POS system for taking orders which was pretty cool. I like this place it has a nice Decor very nostalgic reasonable pricing and a fairly large array of lunchtime Fair. I ordered the aptly named Gutbuster. This is a ridiculous three Patty burger with Swiss and American cheese lettuce tomatoes sliced onions pickles mustard ham turkey and my favorite bacon. Now unlike most Burger Joints this place does an Oklahoma style onion burger which makes the patties bigger and way juicier. The way the cheese is cooked for ends up giving you this delightful wafer of cheese around the edge. now when I say this is a big burger understand that I have huge hands and even in my massive hands it was a struggle to hold on to it. but no one piece of the burger overwhelm the other everything was oddly well complimented to one another every component easily able to be identified as you were eating through your sandwich and all of this was situated on top of a kaiser roll. Now the roll in and of itself was the only downfall, not that it was bad the flavor was fine however I think because of the amount of juice Grease and overall weight of the burger and it's toppings something more along the lines of a ciabatta roll or maybe even an egg style role would have been a bit more substantial and would stand all of the deliciousness this burger has to offer. With my burger of course I had a side order of fries these appear to be hand cut fresh fried and delicious as well. on the side I ordered a Chicago dog which features a what I believe to be a quarter pound Nathan's original hot dog stacked with all the traditional Chicago ingredients. So you have the full two slices of tomato the yellow pepper and celery seasoning cucumbers pickles stone-ground mustard and onion all coming together to make a delicious hot dog. Well I did not personally order them my employees enjoy their own specific sandwiches. One order the mushrooms and Swiss burger and said it was the most amazing Mushroom Swiss burger he'd ever eaten. another ordered their spicy Burger unfortunately I cannot remember its name and said that it had just enough heat to make him happy while it did bring a little bit of sweat to his brow. and another one of my employees tried the Texas cheese steak with onion rings once again echoing the sentiments of the rest of us everything tasted amazing. I most assuredly will stop by and try a few more Burger as oddly enough the gutbuster nearly wet my appetite for more. read more

Furrbies I have driven by it lots of times but one day my shop Forman And another guy invited me to go eat lunch with them they took me to furrbies down town not a lot of parking but the burgers are great sense then I've been back to try some other things ( ham and cheeses,good fries good hot dogs I haven't had anything bad oh if you like it hot they got that to so hot you have to sign a release form hot hot you need to see why most people that work down town eat there for lunch read more

This is a quiet little place you can go to eat. It has a little bit out of the ordinary burgers like the green Chile burger, or you can choose to just have a regular cheeseburger. The service was good and we got our food very quickly. I would give it a five star rating if it had just a bit more variety, but otherwise it's good! read more

A bit off of the beaten path in downtown Amarillo, Furrbies is a quirky-- some might say funky-- greasy spoon sort of place. Menu choices are limited, although burgers, cold and grilled sandwiches, hotdogs and a few daily specials are offered. Pricing is downright inexpensive. Order and pickup at the counter, then settle-in at one of the half-dozen (or so) tables. For what it offers, Furrbies food is served in average-sized portions, and is good. I had a grilled ham and cheese special; ingredients were fresh and the sandwich well-prepared. There isn't any "wow factor" at Furrbies, nor is this something you'd expect. Also in the mold of a greasy spoon, service is just a bit crusty, but welcoming and friendly. The kitchen won't win any awards for their speed, but there were no unreasonable delays. Whether awaiting your order or eating, the signage and chosen wall decorations are sure to catch your attention. Framing the counter are numerous handmade signs directing patrons with nit-picky gripes to alternate eateries in the general neighborhood. No doubt, these are intended as tongue-in-cheek touches of hominess, but their quantity raises the fundamental question of who is actually being nit-picky. Wall décor presents a variety of feature areas, each loaded with memorabilia of a particular geography or popular culture genre; "New York" and mid-'70's punk music were the two that I best remember. While absolutely nothing raised questions regarding cleanliness or hygiene, the appearance of Furrbies is a bit dingy and worn. This is a part of their charm. Furrbies has great sandwiches, yummy homemade desserts and a daily lunch special. They are close to where I work, so I call-in orders to pick up. They have a great green chili cheeseburger and they have these potato wedges called jo jos ~~ they're the best. I've had several kinds of desserts there, too and they were all wonderful! Especially the chocolate sheet cake. The guys who work there are all very helpful and personable and there's always something interesting to check out on display. read more
