I needed to replace a "vintage" bathroom ceiling heater/fan/light combo and expected the worst. Didn't have a good experience with them. Don, who is the president of the company (according to his business card) came to our house for a problem with the fuse box. He checked it out for about 5 minutes and said he's worried if he tried to change the fuse he would do damage to the box since it is stuck. Then he said I should call someone else and then charged me $165. He did tell me before hand that that was his service-call fee, but I would have expected a little more effort than a five minute seemingly cursory check without any real results (at least to my satisfaction). He also upset one of the neighbors when he arrived by driving through a restricted section of the complex around some barriers. The neighbor yelled at him but he seemed oblivious. He's an older gentleman, polite but in my opinion not very helpful or effective as an electrician (perhaps his son, also named Don, is different). I called another electrician, and this is not an exaggeration, but he fixed the problem in 10 minutes. In my opinion you should avoid this company. I certainly regretted contacting them. I work in the construction industry and did a lot of work looking for the right team to retrofit my 1920s Tudor home with updated electrical wiring, grounding, and GFIs (where applicable). From the first walk through with Don Sr, I knew I had the right people on board. Don Jr worked with me in devising a plan that didn't include work that the code didn't require and work I didn't need for safety or functionality. Then Louis Berger managed the entire project. He was friendly, trustworthy, and meticulous in his work. If you are having electrical problems, CALL EDISON FIRST. The number for Southern California is 1-800-611-1911. My husband called this guy by mistake. He charged me $140 for the service call. Then told me that I could get reimbursed by Edison because there was a problem with their power line. Edison stated that they have never reimbursed for other electricians. This is the first time I have written a review. I would have been okay with paying $140 for the service call. But I don't like being lied to, so I am out to warn you not to waste your money like I did. CALL EDISON FIRST. They will come check it out for free. read more

My wife and I had some work done that did not meet or expiations at all. There were a total of 4 light fixtures we asked to be replaced. One was in tough location but I had explained it prior to them sending anyone out. First, I had to call due that they did not meet the window of arrival. Late by an hour of expected time and did not call to let me know till after I called Tony. Get there and the guy tells me that he can't do the light that was in the stair well. (the one I explained was tough) Ok, have 3 more to do. Did the one at eye level, no problem. the other 2, not so lucky. The one over the door does not even turn on and the second is so uneven and crooked, it looks really bad from all angles. Tony was supposed to call back the next day to schedule the guy to come out and finish. (was going to have him fix what he already did) but Tony never called. Tried to call Tony, voicemail. Give not indication on message that he is out of town or has nobody to follow up. Had to call 3 time to finally get someone to settle my account. As a Local small business owner, I try to look for other local business to use to support the local community. I don't usually use yelp to search for services like electrical services I actually used Angies list but that is another topic within itself. But I was so impressed with the service I wanted to drop a line on all media sites. So I had a large store remodel where I wanted to upgrade my lighting to more efficient led lighting, new hvac, new equipment, new sign and pretty much rewiring my whole store as I had it completely gutted and rebuilt and since the building was built in the there was just a rats nest of of old electrical work. I just wanted to get it completely redone as everything else was getting an overhaul. I called Fullerton electric and I was impressed to speaking directly with the owner Don Holly. Anyways while speaking with Don and talking about his experience and other projects he has done, I was very impressed to hear that they specialize in commercial, industrial and residential. Don came down and walked the job and gave his quote which was reasonable considering the size of the project. I expressed to him the importance of sticking to a time frame as there would be other contractors working along side which if you have ever had multiple contractors on the job at once it can sometimes be like having multiple beta fish in one tank. Not the case with fullerton electric. Mike and Brian were the technicians assigned to the job great guys they were always the first guys there and last ones to leave. They stayed on task and were always there in a supporting role to other contractors prepping and energizing the equipment as it was installed making sure all circuits and outlets are labeled (very important). The lighting that was installed was great don definitely understand the lighting color heat as when I have seen other places that have converted to led lights it generally has a bluish color and looks odd and cold. Once again Fullerton Electric had this down the led went in and you cant even tell that my recessed lights use only 10 watts. The attention to detail of making sure that all the lights were perfectly in line was great and I couldn't have been happier. The project took just under 3 months and fullerton electric was there the whole way through. To me having them there day in and out really made me feel the value and care that fullerton electric has for there community and other small businesses. After the project was complete I love my new store and most importantly everything is working great, the new led lighting has saved me on average 200 dollars a month. They are my go to electrician. I own a business in Fullerton and was distressed that the power to my building was randomly shutting down. First it was my 2 air conditioners, than started traveling to overhead lights and outlets and operator staions. I called several companies that would not commit to coming out the next day, and it is a heat wave. My computers cannot survive the heat. Don seemed like a great guy when he came and did a site analysis. Said he would give me a call the next day. I waited and did not hear anything back for a few days and decided to give him a call to see what happened. He stated that he didn't call because he wasn't interested and wouldn't make money on the job. I asked him to give me a quote that he would do the job for and we can work from there. The next day he called with the quote which was very reasonable, he also took off $150 as I would provide my own dimmers. I gave him the okay on Tuesday to proceed and he said it might be possible to install on Thursday and Friday. Thursday comes along and I still have not heard back so I give Don a call. He stated that he was way to busy and would be able to do the job on Weds and finish on Friday the following week. I was okay with this and set up for 8 am on Weds. I called Don yesterday to confirm installation for tomorrow and he stated that he will not do the job because he wasn't making any money of the job. Honestly, Don has trouble calling customers back as well as holding himself accountable to his promises. I do not leave negative feedback but I felt it was my obligation to inform the community of his blatant lack of customer service. read more

We hired Fullerton Electric to install recessed lighting in our home as well as several security lights outside our home. They showed up on time and the 2 gentleman that worked in our home were really sweet and professional. It took the whole day to install everything which, was actually a lot faster than I had expected. I was so please with the job that they did and I love our lights. My only complaint is that they didn't inform us that they would be leaving 2 large holes in our walls and several small holes around the recessed lighting. I was furious when the 2 workers began to leave without patching up the holes and they told me that this sort of thing happens all the time. One of the workers showed me a form that I was supposed to sign prior to the work being done and it mentions on there that they are not responsible for holes in drywall but luckily I was never shown that form and I didn't sign it. I thought these guys were awesome and that they did a terrific job but the 2 large holes in my walls made me so upset that I couldn't even enjoy my new lights. The workers left and a few days later I wrote a long letter to Don Holly, the Owner. He couldn't have been nicer and wanted to make us happy so, the next day he sent a worker out to our home to patch up the holes for free. I am truly thankful that they did this and I would recommend them to others but I would also make it perfectly clear to ask whether holes will be patched up and to look at all documentation prior to signing. Also, getting a typed/handwritten quote rather than verbally over the phone would have been helpful. read more

Earlier today (a Sunday) we experienced an issue with our breaker box that was potentially pretty serious and couldn't wait until normal business hours. I called several businesses that claimed to be open and/or offered "24/7 Emergency Service" and was met with either no response, no call back, a text messages asking me what I needed, or my favorite, a guy who told me that he'd like to help, but couldn't because he was doing "family things". Fortunately, I finally found Fullerton Electric. Don came out within 30 minutes of our call, diagnosed the problem, and fixed the issue. The owner was very friendly and pleasant to deal with over the phone. Our electrician Jeff was polite when he came to check out the problem. Long story short, after Jeff was gone we discovered he had missed the main source of the electrical problem we were having. We called back and they got Jeff back out very quickly. They waved the service call fee for the return visit and completely acknowledged that they should have identified this on the first visit. We paid for the parts and labor and everything has been working perfectly for a few weeks now. A company's integrity is shown best in how they deal with problems and complications; we were very impressed with their professionalism and willingness to rectify the problem immediately. I used Fullerton Electric on one prior occasion and was reasonably satisfied with the work---even though the young electrician took longer than expected to do the job and had to redo some of his work. This week I needed some additional electrical work done and contacted FE for a bid. I reached Don who remembered me from the last job and after a short conversation referred me to Mike in the office to provide my information and job description. I asked Mike if someone would be coming out to provide an on-site bid and he responded by saying "we will see what happens." That was a week ago and nothing has happened. I contact contractors only once to see if they want my business. If they don't have the courtesy to return my call then I don't want them near my home. Don is a very nice man---much like the proverbial car salesman before you sign the papers. But something is wrong with a company who will not return a call to a repeat customer. yeah, not happy with customer service. first strike was how don kept referring to my install as a small job, as if they were doing a favor... don did not want to come out for estimate but wanted to give me a range and ask if i would commit. second, it took them a week to call back with a date to install while on the phone don said he'd call next day. third, install was set to begin in the early morning but got a call few minutes before, that they'll be late by one hour. not good. i arranged my time for them to be here. i canceled the service. i would not recommend these guys. flakey. read more

Today I was working in my newly vacant condo and noticed that the sockets weren't working. After a half hour of trying, I could not figure it out. I called Don and asked him to bring someone over to take a look at it. However, Don suggested that we trouble shoot on the phone to see if it was something very simple. He took a stepwise approach with me and we were able to get the electricity flowing again. I have used Fullerton Electric and worked with Don Sr. and Jr. three time over the course of a couple of years. I can honestly tell you it has been a pleasure each and every time and they give new meaning to the phrase "great contractor". I would never call anyone else for my electrical work. They are on my speed dial! Recently, I tripped a circuit breaker by using to many power tools in the garage and with all my effort could not reset it. I called Fullerton Electric's emergency number since it was after hours. Don Jr. walked me through the breaker reset at the same time giving me a little education along the way about circuit breakers. He stayed with me on the phone until it was fixed and I was satisfied. The cost? NONE. Previously, Don Sr. helped me rewire a ceiling fan to operate from two switches (one for the light and the other for the fan). This was done on the phone at no cost. Prior to that, the Fullerton Electric team rewired 220 to 110 in my back yard. They were efficient, provided high quality, and the cost was less than most others that I had received quotes from.
