Not impressed.. I had an issue with my lights flickering and I saw their truck in my neighborhood so I thought I would see if they could help. I am totally understanding that they have a $79 fee to come out and investigate your issues. I had Ezekiel come out and after viewing the rooms he told me that it is most likely the can lights will need to be replaced with the recessed lighting and that he would replace the two that are flickering. I was okay to sign that I would pay $353.00 to get those replaced. He came back about ten minutes later to tell me that both light cans are fine and don't need to be replaced. I was very happy thinking that I just saved myself a large fee to get them replaced. I asked him what would be the charge and he told me that he is billing the $353 that I signed for. When I asked him if he replaced them anyway he said no we don't carry that size anyway. I repeated what he originally told me and he said he was sorry and said "I misspoke". I ended up paying $353 for nothing but just advice to get lower watt bulbs. read more

Seems like we can't go more than a year out two with something on our aging home going kaput. This time it was a ceiling fan that wouldn't turn on out of any more. I wanted to swap out a regular wall switch with a dimmer switch so we could tame the blinding flush mounted LED ceiling light we have. There was no ground wire to be seen and I don't like to play around, so I called Berk's. We've used Berk's repeatedly over the last 15 years for all sorts of electrical issues, and they never fail to be great. Ezekial showed up at the house today and he was friendly, polite, efficient... everything you could ask for and then some. He did the work and explained it to us - and I'm glad I called. When we contacted their office Jennifer was very helpful in getting the work scheduled and providing updates on the arrival of the assigned electrician. I called Berk's Electrical in the City of Orange because I needed a new outlet in under my kitchen sink to power my dishwasher and disposal. Additionally my breaker failed after 35 years also had to be replaced. I provided GFC for each appliance that would shut off immediately and is an important safety in a kitchen environment. I had booked the service call for the next morning, however a slot opened up that afternoon. The problem was diagnosed in 20 minutes and I approved the estimate. This is my second time using Berk's Electrical service. Last year, one of my outdoor wall light was on and off randomly and I called Berk's, they sent Ezequiel over to check it out. Ezequiel quickly found the issue and removed the bad ballast and switch the light to LED one - simple and low maintenance for long term. Last week same issue happened to my another front wall light. Well to say I am disappointed is an understatement. I'm unsure why they have high ratings when they can't follow through on Yelp with a quote or call. I submitted a quote request from multiple electricians via Yelp and got same day (actually same hour) responses from all but Berk's. I had 2 come out that same day to give us a quote on our project t and another scheduled for the following day. They stated a 100% response rate within 2 hours. Lol - well that surely isn't true! I called Berk's the following day and was greeted by Allison. She stated she didn't see the Yelp request and they only have 2 technicians so they don't typically go out to give quotes. She suggested I text pictures of the area needing work and to include my name and Yelp on the text. She then said as soon as they receive the texted pictures that she would expedite it and set up the quote. I texted the pictures a few hours later and heard nothing. The following day - no response. I messaged them back on Yelp stating I have not received any response. The next day I got a text message saying sorry they missed my Yelp but they got my pictures. Then I received a voice message from Allison later in the day asking me to call her. I called back that same day and got their voicemail so I left a message. Well that was 4 days ago and I've never heard back from them. I'm baffled they have been in business so long if this is how they provide customer service. We obviously went with another quote to get the job started but I'm disappointed with their lack of courtesy and response. I would not recommend wasting your time and begging them to quote your job. I can only imagine their reliability or dependability if you actually were to hire them. read more

Rael Berkovitz responded quickly and came out to figure out exactly what had to bed done. His explanation was very clear and the price reasonable so agreed. His crew Steve Martin and another guy (forgot to get his name) came out when scheduled, worked diligently, patiently answered our questions, and got everything done in two and one half days, and left everything clean. We had a few issues that had accumulated. I saw a Berk's truck in my neighborhood (Long Beach). I looked up their rating on Yelp and called on Friday. They scheduled to have Steve Martin come out to deal with the items on the list. The main issue was that we had some work done in our kitchen and the outlets were not flush with the all. Steve looked it over and recommended that we replace all three outlets (since they were pretty old). We took his advice and we are glad that we did since there was something wrong with each one. We now have three outlets that work and are up to code. All done very quickly and professionally. The price that we paid was very competitive. We also had issues with a circuit in one of our girls' bedrooms tripping pretty often. It looks as if there are too many outlets on one circuit. Steve looked over the situation and consulted with the main office. That will be a larger job so they will send us an estimate. We are also looking into getting an outlet added in a front bedroom. That may also be a larger job and we will get an estimate from the office about that. All aspects of this visit (from the helpful staff on the phone and the professional service that Steve definitely gave us) makes it so that we will continue to work with Berk's. I experienced a GFI problem in my garage. I called Berk's to replace it. When the electrician, Steve Martin, got to my house he ran a complete trouble shoot of the circuit in my garage. Steve determined that the existing service demand exceeded the circuit breaker capacity. Steve explained in very a understandable manner what the problem was and what it would take to remedy the problem. The estimate to complete adding another circuit and GFI was very reasonable and the work was completed in a timely manner. Steve Martin was a very personable, polite and professional electrician. Steve showed his knowledge and experience in diagnosing the problem and fixing the problem. All that and in addition Steve left the workplace cleaner than when he started. We searched for weeks to find an electrician to find the problem with an expensive chandelier that went dark, and to add a couple of new outlets in our home. The chandelier was particularly problematic as it is hung from a 13ft. High slanted ceiling. Despite their request for a $195 diagnostic fee, waived if we hired them, I felt some comfort with the sincerity of Theresa, who spoke with me by phone three times. Jose Gomez, our assigned electrician, was not only highly professional, but personable, and highly skilled. He figured out the chandelier mess in about 30 minutes, looked at our outlet needs, and came back with an estimate that worked (diagnostic fee waived). We needed to have an electric vehicle outlet installed in our garage so my husband John contacted Berk's electrical. We have used their service a few times and have been very happy with them. Steve Martin arrived to do the job within the window provided and he was very professional, friendly, neat and careful during the installation. It went faster than I expected and I am really happy with the finished job. Steve took the time to show me the new breakers that he installed in our panel and how to properly reset them. He also labeled them neatly. He then showed the outlet to me and tested each opening with a meter to demonstrate that it was properly grounded as well as providing the correct voltage. I've used Berk's for over 12 years for the electrical work on our house. I've never been disappointed with the quality of their work. Our house is older with some aluminum wiring, and they know how to work with that and bring it to code. Most recently, Jose spent two days on a wiring overhaul for our bathroom remodel, and was able to prioritize parts of the work so we could get inspections tightly timed. He's diligent and contentious, and super polite. For some urgent unscheduled follow-up work Jeff got Omar out right away to take care of it. Omar too was friendly, knowledgeable, and was able to double check some things for us. Everyone at the company I've worked with - from Jeff to the folks in the office - are always friendly and willing to discuss our needs.
