5/4/22 Francisco from Berk's felt bad about charging my mom $220 to change the lightbulb in her closet on 5/4/22. She lives alone and thought there was a short so called an electrician to help. Ended up being just the lightbulb was burned out. He changed it for her with a lightbulb she provided. Now one year later almost to the day her handyman neighbor comes over to investigate why the closet light is flickering again. He thought it was probably the fixture needed replacing. Took off the bulb cover and finds the bulb is sitting there broken almost falling off the socket. So Berk's electric walked away last May having scammed my mom for $195 (after the "senior discount") for a 15 minute house call, and all she got was a broken lightbulb. Thankfully her neighbor changed it for her out of the kindness of his heart. No charge, as a friendly electrician should have done. I will credit Francisco cuz it sounds like he was a nice enough guy but what an awful policy he upheld to profit off of such a simple fix. read more

We are in the process of selling our home and had a plumber come out to install a pressure release valve, but they loosened the ground coming in the water line. Guess what, the loose ground popped our electrical circuit. I called Berk's in a panic and they dispatched Mike Habib immediately. I can't speak more highly about Mike. Francisco did great work today! The wiring for the lighting in our bathroom was bad, and he not only diagnosed it right away, he installed a brand-new switch area and made sure that it is up to code! Also, he took a look at our stove top hood and recommended that we replace the hood. And, he also examined some of our outdoor lighting and made sure that it is working, and in addition he recommended that we install LED fixtures outside, so that they can use much less energy and save us a lot of money! Francisco showed up on-time, showed himself to be very responsible (and responsive to all of our questions), very polite and courteous, and he provided a very detailed work certificate, clearly showing what he did today and what he recommends we do next time. The most recent electrician we had was Francisco...he was sent out to install a plug for a new range- we had the power (capped off wires) and thought we only needed the plastic plug cover installed- what did I know?! After he checked everything, he discovered the existing power was too strong for what the range required. He explained everything very clearly before he started the work and asked for permission to complete it (because it needed more work than I originally thought). Today I paid nearly $400 for a service call. We phoned the company while the tech was still here and asked them to break out the charges. They refused. We asked, "what is your usual fee for a service call"? He said they couldn't say. In other words, the tech fixed our doorbell, checked to see if there was voltage coming to our oven, then charged almost $400 while refusing to explain their charges. We'll never use them again and you shouldn't either unless you want to pay a lot for very little. read more

What a great group! I called Berk' s the day after Memorial Day and actually spoke with a real person. She was friendly, courteous and helpful. I explained to her that my landscaper wanted to complete the sprinkler wiring and that he needed an outlet installed to complete the work. Without any "tap dancing" I was advised she could have a "tech" out to my home within an hour to an hour and a half. ( heard that before). One hour later "Omar" was at my door. I explained to Omar what I needed and he went right to work. Omar explained to me exactly what he was going to do and he did it in about an hour. We had a problem with a dining room chandelier that was solved quickly. Kyle Hively was prompt, knowledgeable, cleaned up after his work. He also took care of replacing a remote device for a ceiling fan in a bedroom. We are getting a quote on some new undercounter lighting in the kitchen as well as replacing some old smoke forwand look forward to another good job. UPDATE! Based on our previous experience we decided to have the company comeback and do a much larger project. We replaced all the smoke detectors in our house and put in a carbon monoxide detector. They also replaced our old undercounter lights with modern LEDs. We also had them put in new kitchen lighting in a china cabinet and new lighting over a serving counter between the kitchen and dining room. Kyle did the job efficiently and professionally.
