I really liked this place. I was in Winter Park with friends for the last snowboarding trip of the season and we drove by this place and the colorful mural grabbed my eye. The interior was very stylish as well. The food was authentic and reasonably priced and the drinks were strong and tasty. There were some guys outside building a patio which should be an awesome addition as the weather gets warm. I'll definitely come by again in the future!

There's a certain kind of disappointment that stings more in a small mountain town, where the options are few and you just want one honest meal. Azteca used to be that--a solid plate of beans and tequila to cut the cold. But this last visit? A cacophony of chaos. We were sat next to a window we didn't ask for, serenaded by a waiter who whistled like a bored canary in a prison yard. The nachos came bone-in--literally--and the margarita tasted like a frat party hangover in a plastic cup. Bathroom? Apocalypse. The kind that makes you question every bite. This wasn't just bad food--it was a loud, oblivious mess served with a smirk. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere that still gives a damn.

Realizing that a lot of pictures of the food here are mine....maybe I should get busy on a review. I just stopped in today on Black Friday and the place is packed! Literally, there's a line now and no empty tables. The new owners have revamped the menu (which was always excellent), but the quality has improved with a little higher pricing. The meat quality is great, the margaritas are excellent, lots of fresh tasting ingredients! We usually eat here during any trip to the Grand county area. We love the food and the service! The new menu is missing a few things we especially liked like Colorado Pork green chili. My husband said it's replaced with a green tomatillo sauce....yikes! We also miss the pollo Vallarta dish. What's good? Well, just about everything we have ordered has been fresh and tasty. The caramel flan is the best I have had in my life! I also love the skinny margarita here! Carne Asada is probably my favorite of the menu choices, but like I said, you can't go wrong with this new menu! Parking lot out front is free, across from Safeway in Fraser. PS: if you need that Colorado pork green chili, go to the Granby location. They are the previous owners, I believe!!

Many reviews here mention the rude servers and I have to agree. I could tell that all of the servers were busy, they were running around. There was even a sign on the door mentioning be patient and kind to the servers, but that is a two way street. Like another review mentioned they are not really accommodating with making orders customized (especially if you are vegetarian). They do have a vegetarian section of their menu. I ordered the enchiladas de espinaca (spinach enchilada) and it was ok, not amazing. Another member of our party ordered a vegetarian burrito - it came with steamed veggies that were mostly unseasoned. There were also a lot of flies, probably because the door is kept open to the outdoors. Would not return.

Mural as you walk in. Gorgeous.

Who knew our favorite Mexican place in Lakewood is also owned (partially) by the amazing folks who also own and manage Azteca?!?!?! Total score! This was a great way to end a perfect day on the mountain. And, as always, I way prefer authentic Mexican food to any other. The chips were crispy, loved the cabbage blend offered with our salsa and the house margarita? Perfect. We were treated to Chili Colorado - perfectly cooked chunks of beef lounging in a spicy (keto friendly) red sauce. And if your all about the carbs, you'll also appreciate their enchiladas - I had the Suizas variety (tomatillo sauce and sour cream), also very tasty! And once you're on a non keto kick, why not indulge and go for the flan. Yep, also yummy. So.... if you're near Winterpark or right next door in Fraser, you absolutely must stop!

This restaurant was VERY busy - which is a great sign for a family eating establishment on a Sunday evening. Despite there being multiple parties ahead of us, the staff was attentive, kind, and worked as quickly as possible to get us seated. Once seated, the staff was personable and the food was delicious. In a society with so much commercialization, it's great to see a family eating establishment good and strong.

Good spot to watch sports games too, they have a lot of TVs around. Ordered the double ditch burger with onion rings, and a house marg. The burger was awesome. Definitely messy and was falling apart by the last few bites, but well worth it. The green chiles were a nice touch for some flavor and heat but not overpowering. Definitely filling and the move after a long ski day. The onion rings were good too - nice and crisp. The marg was strong and a fair price. Overall had a great experience here and would recommend and return.

The second time we arrived and saw it was him, I was like oh great. he started off snarky but as we ordered more food and drinks and relaxed and actually because really nice to us by the time we left. If the weather is nice enough I suggest sitting on the patio. They have a gorgeous view and plenty of seating. We tried the Juantons and they are served with their spicy green chile. It was too spicy for me so we got a side of queso and it was perfect for dipping in. I would get these again. The margs are good here too. Pretty strong.

The experience I had at this establishment was deeply disappointing and honestly unlike anything…read moreI've encountered before. Our group of seven set out to enjoy a meal together, but what we faced instead was a cascade of errors and outright disrespect from the waitstaff and management. To begin with, the server mixed up an order, which admittedly could happen in a group our size--but the nature of our requests made the errors easily avoidable and, just as importantly, simple to correct. Five of us ordered essentially the same thing, differing only in small details like scrambled eggs with or without cheese. When we politely pointed out the issues to the server, we were met with an unprofessional and rude response. At one point, he even went as far as telling some of our party members that they needed to "pay attention." This attitude alone soured the experience, but things only deteriorated further from there. For instance, when one person's eggs--which had been incorrectly prepared with cheese--arrived with no cheese, we kindly requested they be remade. Shockingly, the waiter refused outright, stating he would not redo the order nor remove it from our bill. If that wasn't bad enough, he went on to suggest we would receive poor service like this regardless of where we dined--a claim entirely untrue based on our many other dining experiences elsewhere. Given the escalating tension, we asked to speak with the manager to resolve the situation. Unfortunately, the response was even more disheartening. The waiter brusquely declared himself to be the manager and outright refused to take any action to address our concerns. Hoping for someone with more authority to intervene reasonably, we then requested to speak with the owner. However, the owner was equally dismissive and maintained that his server couldn't possibly have spoken to us in such a disrespectful manner--even going so far as to deny any wrongdoing entirely. When I pointed out that the server's behavior suggested he might have been having a bad day but ought to remain respectful to customers regardless, I was met with indifference. I tried to explain how critical customer service is--especially when tourists like us choose to spend money supporting local businesses--but it seemed to fall on deaf ears. Ultimately, things reached a breaking point when another guest at the restaurant ask us to leave, as no resolution. It was such a shame because, truthfully, the food itself was quite good. Unfortunately, no amount of culinary quality can compensate for the poor treatment we received from both staff and management alike. To think that we originally planned to purchase some of their locally made jam as a show of support for their business--it now feels inconceivable that we'd contribute any further after such an appalling episode. To sum up: while the food may meet expectations for taste, the dismissive attitude makes this establishment one to avoid at all costs. If you value being treated kindly or even with basic professionalism, steer clear and take your business elsewhere where it will truly be appreciated.
