Oh my gosh, you've gotta stop by this place on your trip to Winter Park! Pepe Osaka's is a Latin/Asian fusion restaurant featuring tacos, enchiladas, rice bowls, and sushi burritos. They have super high-quality food and fresh fish. The interior is fun, cute, and almost has a club feel. There are adventurous items on the menu, such as octopus and soft shell crab and more tame choices such as chicken and steak. They even have vegetarian and vegan options! The fried plantains are out of this world and our server allowed us to get a couple of an appetizer off menu. They are known for their fried fish tacos and I definitely recommend ordering one. I tried the mix and match combo and with Baja style tilapia, steak tataki, and ahi poke ceviche. It was a good way to try different things. Next time I go, I want to try the tempura lobster! My boyfriend and I spent a weekend in Winter Park and ended up eating here two nights in a row because we dreamt about the food. The tacos were amazing! Wow how have I not already been here?! We ventured in on a rainy evening for happy hour and were warmly greeted and took seats at the bar that had TVs with football and playing sound for the CU game. The margs are half price on hh!! The chips and salsa are DELICIOUS. Partner got tacos and I had the salmon tostada. Portions were HUGE. I couldn't finish mine. Eclectic restaurants with a strange layout. On the left is lots of seating which suggests that there are long lines and waits. There's a middle section with tables and chairs. We wanted to sit there, but got told that staffing was short and that area wasn't open. We were relegated to the bar area where it was all tall table top. I asked for a bar chair (that had a back) for Jon since he was a fall risk. I sat on the hard, square stools. Sigh. Jon ordered a 3 piece enchiladas with salmon. He LOVED the salmon. They were large pieces and the pink sauce was delicious! I ordered the spicy Diablo Octopus in a bowl. While I LOVED the octopus, the Diablo sauce was very weak and one note. I had to use the spicier salsa to give it some pizzazz. My plantain was delicious but kind of hidden under a bunch of rice. There was also a large lemon wedge and 1/2 a raw jalapeño also hidden under the rice. My octopus wasn't as yummy as Jon's salmon. Prices here are super JACKED UP. My Diablo octopus was $39! Jon's enchilada was correctly priced at $28. My horchata was $7. Highway robbery! They also added a kitchen surcharge of 3.5% that was also TAXED. WOW!!! What an incredible meal in Winter Park. We chose this place due to proximity to our condo and it did not disappoint. The menu offers something for everyone. They even catered to our 8yr old and made him plain, steamed edamame. We had two different tacos (ahi poke & carnitas) and the ahi poke bowl. The fresh fish was incredible. We were staying in town and needed food, and this place was within walking distance. So off we went! The server told us that they're known for their fish tacos and their infused tequilas. Based on that, I ended up ordering a cilantro jalapeño margarita. Should I have ordered alcohol on my first night of being at 9k feet above sea level? Probably not. But he sold these margaritas hard. And it was good. I ended up getting the three taco combo -- one spicy tuna, one ahi, and one grilled mahi mahi. The spicy tuna was definitely spicy! The ahi tastes nice and fresh, and the mahi mahi was decent too. The vibe inside was very chill. It was giving "hometown bar." We pulled up here being super skeptical since most of us are from San Diego and/or lived in San Diego, however we were all shook with Pepe Osaka's ramen. We did not expect it to be this delicious and some of us have been to Japan. Apparently one of the chefs lived in Japan for some time and learned their craft and crafted this gem. It is literally a perfect blend of Mexican-Asian fusion. It literally hit like home, like some of the comida mexicana we've had growing up. If you're in the area I highly recommend the ramen! My other friend tried the Mahi Mahi Al Pastor Tacos and he said they were very flavorful. Not to mention, how big the tacos are! I thought they would lowkey be like Tijuana style but they're damn near mini quesadilla size. The employees and manager Rolando were very welcoming and friendly. They chatted with us about the concept of their ramen and origin of their tequila choice. Always drove past this spot while going past Fraser, but today we decided to stop by and give it a try. I might have gotten lucky while coming in, but the owner greeted us and even explained the menu to us which was very helpful. The chips and salsa they started us off with was amazing. A cilantro style green salsa I would buy a whole tub of if I could. The tacos were amazing for only being 2 tacos I didn't think I would get so full from the amount, but man do they load it with fresh fish. We stopped by this place during our trip. We didn't have reservations and they accommodated a group of 12 pretty quickly during New Years weekend. The chips and salsa were yummy but the chips were a bit spicy. The guacamole was good. I ordered 3 tacos because I shared with my toddler. A plain steak, steak tataki and the Mahi Mahi. My favorite was the plain steak to be honest. The steak was really good. The others were maybe too eclectic. It had a variety of ingredients which were not bad, but not great. Came here while skiing in winterpark - the service was wonderful and the vibe is cool in a friendly no frills kindnof way. The portions were huge-- but not all tacos were hits. The biggest hack ever was discovering this gem of a restaurant right off Winter Park's ski area. After a full day on the slopes, I cannot imagine going anywhere else. This place blows every other spot in Winter Park out of the water. The staff? So friendly. You're seated fast, and the portions are massive and the sauce on the tacos is addictive. Best part of the meal were the toasted chips and tuna. The fish in the tacos were really good. The rest of the taco was a sour mess that ruined the quality of the fish. We ordered two meal with spicy tuna as the primary ingredient and both were so incredibly spicy they were inedible. I tried to call them multiple times and no one answered and the voicemail was full. This is the best restaurant in Winter Park... we absolutely love the food, and the service and ambiance are perfect as well. We took our (almost bedtime) 7 month old in around 6:30pm and were given our choice of tables to ensure we could comfortably seat our baby. They are served with sweet grilled plantains... I pulled off a few pieces and gave them to our baby and her eyes rolled back in her head at the first bite - it was hilarious!
