We enjoyed our meals. Steak burrito and chicken enchiladas. Margs were decent.I forgot to ask for flour tortilla instead of corn though. Nice patio and we could take our dogs. I'm giving this place 1 star because the customer service was extremely disappointing. The employee who helped us was rude and had a noticeable attitude throughout our interaction. When we politely approached her to address the issue, she shrugged it off and walked away instead of trying to help or resolve our concerns. In town for a few days to hike, stopped here for dinner and were not disappointed! The inside is very cozy; great atmosphere, and the furniture is so solid! Don't typically add that in a review but it looks hand carved. Food was so good we went back for dinner the next day! Aimée had the pregnant donkey both nights; a burrito with a chile relleno in the middle. The first night I had the chile verde, which was outstanding. Huge chunks of pork, and the verde was terrific. Fantastic vibes, especially after skiing. Went with a large group and waited 35 minutes, which was reasonable for it being a Saturday. Service was very friendly. Drinks and food portions were huge - hits the spot after a long day on the slopes. As other reviews said, it's a great sign when the parking lot is full. The service was phenomenal and the food was not only delicious but a great value for the price. We were hungry after a hike and were looking for a place to eat. The parking lot was full, it was a beautiful night and there was outdoor seating so we decided to give it a try!! It was amazing! Great chips and salsa. Everything on the menu sounded delicious so it was hard to choose. Ended up with the chicken taco salad and the taco platter. We always love to stop at Azteca. We had combination plates today, and happened to make it in for happy hour where a house margarita is $3 and change!! Normally, they are about $6.25 which still is a great price! You can get a pitcher for just under $30. Our combination platters had a chicken tamale, crispy relleno, and an enchilada. There was Colorado sauce across the selections, and it was delicious!! It's served with rice and beans. At the time of this review, it is $13.25, great price for a lot of food plus complimentary chips and salsa. Private and free parking! Whenever we recommend to our friends places to go eat lunch or dinner, Azteca is at the top of the list!! Happy hour is 1pm-4pm at the time of this writing. Ok, edit for happy hour is now 2-4pm. A local favorite in Fraser! Fuego Azteca has awesome Mexican food and friendly service year round. Whether you want to come eat outside in the summer or grab a warm meal after skiing, this is your place! I got the combo plate of a tamale, chile relleno, and an enchilada. All were tasty and I especially enjoyed the tamale which was not too dense and had good flavor. The green chile here is great and I'd recommend smothering your burrito with it (or at least getting a cup on the side!). The tacos were as expected but the pinto beans that came with the tacos were incredible-- spicy and flavorful! The margaritas are good and you can request ones made without a margarita mix. I really enjoy Fuego Azteca. I've only ever been to this location. Their pollo veracruzana is delicious. My family enjoys all their chicken dishes honestly. Be aware, though, they sometimes will charge an automatic tip regardless of how many are in your group. We were in a group of four, and they charged an automatic 20% without telling us, though we noticed. Our friends were a group of three, and they were charged but did not notice. One time, they told us ahead of time about the automatic 20%, but the first time they did not. The food is great, though, and the service is good for a mountain town. read more

We really enjoyed our visit to Fuego Azteca. We had tacos and all the meat(carne, lingua, and carnitas) was really flavorful. My wife is from Michoacán and was very complimentary of the carnitas. About 1 year or so ago we quit going to this restaurant since we had experienced the worst molcajete EVER (they used to be awesome there) simply because the waiter & cooks were too lazy to inform us that they had run out cactus, beef & short on beans (I can't remember if beans were one of the items missing or scant portion) resulting in a pretty crappy molcajete...thinking back we should have just said we do not want to eat it & send it back but both my husband & I prefer to give 2nd chances etc!!! The best way to handle a shortage of ingredients is to simply apologize for the shortage & offer other food choices!!!!! Anyhow we went back the other afternoon & thought we would give it a try again (mostly because our favorite Mexican restaurant, Don Dany was closed) & the food was not bad....needless to say we did not order a molcajete! The waiter in the bar area (not the bar tender) was kind of angry looking & would just throw the menu's down on the tables...making a slapping noise which with that & his somber, non smiling, somewhat uncaring & angry attitude made him come across as rude & uncaring. Don't get me wrong, I understand that people have bad days and overall he did a decent job of waiting on us, but his attitude was enough to make us not want to frequent this restaurant again! Managers need to train wait staff on how to have manners regardless of what kind of crappy mood they are in! Take the effort of just laying the menus & silverware down like a normal waiter & smile at least once or twice....quit making patrons feel like they are bothering you!!!!! read more

After a long day of skiing, we needed some fuel. Called ahead for setting (highly recommend). Most Winter Park restaurants close before 9. Staff was very personable and helpful. Two stars are only for a polite server, but he was NOT attentive at all, and location to our hotel. HOW DOES THIS PLACE get good reviews? The salsa was watery and HOT !!! Then you get the enchiladas and the sauce was SOOOO sweet and just tomato and sugar. Literally this place can only get good reviews because the type of people that go here do not know how to make, or ever had, good Mexican food. Tamales were big and dry, not like mine homemade. First time here, last time here, and prices were outrageous. Go across the street and get a microwave Mexican meal at Safeway instead, then make your own margarita too. Visiting the Fraser area for a few days, my family was hungry after a day at the Hot Sulphur Springs, didn't have time to do much research, just saw this place, driving through. After looking at another Mex place down the street that looked deserted, we drove by this one again and It looked busy so that's usually a good sign. Figured we'd have a wait but our party of four got seated immediately. Place was warm and busy, everyone seemed happy. So far, so good. Complimentary salsa w/ chips was good and spicy, but you only get one set of them for "free", keep that in mind. I don't think I've ever been to a Mex place that didn't offer unlimited chip/salsa, and we've been to quite a few all around the US, but whatever, not a huge deal. The prices were high for Mex, but figured maybe the food was bomb, like the salsa, so we ordered a white queso for an app and three of us got burritos and one got some enchiladas. The $7 queso, I kid you not, tasted like it came from a can you get at the grocery. Food came out fairly quickly. The burritos were called "large" on the menu. and were $15 so expecting some bomb ass Chipotle type action. Nope. Slim, medium to small sized. My wife, and youngest, got the chicken fajita burrito and kept saying it was mostly onions, very little chicken, and very little peppers. They both did swap out the red sauce that came poured over to a white queso with no comment but "no problem" from the waiter. My meal was OK, but again small and I found myself hungry and eating the chips that came with the queso at the end. The real problems started when we got the bill. Best I can tell, the two burritos that got the sauce swapped were charged at $5 MORE than menu price, so $20 a piece! Or the menu was wrong, OR they just up-charged for the hell of it. We were tired and ready to go, and from the sound of it they wouldn't' of cared anyway, so we just paid (close to $100), with no tip, and left. The extra $10 we were not informed of or just overcharged for can be their tip. To my surprise, when I saw the charge come through the next day, they had ADDED at $10 tip onto my bill!!! WTF.... Wow, now that's crossing a line.... scuzzy as hell. Folks don't go there and support this BS, the actual owners I 100% doubt even know what Yelp is, so this review is only for potential customers. Expensive tex-mex for folks who don't look at what they are getting, and don't care about ingredients or the bill I guess??? Pathetic... read more

What a spot. I ordered a carnitas burrito that was the size of a small child. It came out in less than 10 minutes and I cleaned my whole plate; even after munching on their tortilla chips and salsa during my short wait. Very affordable for the portion. A party in the dining room left their work cap on the ground and a server returned it to them as they were leaving. Stand up stuff. Will be back for more. read more
