What a great Spring, Texas find. My hubs and I stumbled upon this restaurant, and I have to say it was superb. A family owned business and managed wonderfully by Paul. Came here on a Friday night and almost every table was taken. Even with a busy restaurant they kept up with the pace of the food. We started off with a Pho roll filled with beef and veggies. It's a nice portion so one order is plenty. My hubs had the Pai Thai which was cooked with all the right spices and ingredients. I had the WonTonPho soup. The server was extremely helpful in explaining the menu. With her recommendation, I got the spicy wonton soup, which was amazing. It had a kick, but not in your face, compromised with great flavor. Finally, a fusion restaurant that gets it right! Visited Fu Manchung on FM2920 based on a KPRC Channel 2 review of Top 100 Texas Restaurants in the Houston area. Did not disappoint! High rating was earned. Upon arrival in mid-afternoon, we were warmly greeted by Paul, the owner as well as the several waitresses. We even met the father-in-law who does most of the cooking. Very pleasant people transplanted from Iowa. Their hospitality was consistently provided throughout our entire visit. We even loved the old school 70s rock playlist that was playing. This is the first fusion restaurant we have visited where the food is excellent. Everything we tried was good to great. My favorite was the spicy pork and shrimp soup with dumplings. My spouse said the Bun bowl was the best she ever had (and we visit a lot of Vietnamese restaurants); it was covered in grilled beef and shrimp. Pho (pha) was good. Only better I ever tasted was at Les Noodles in Montrose. High praise. Best part was that Fu Manchung offers pho in 4 different portion sizes. To Les Noodles detriment, they only offer one giant sized portion of pho. Menu was creatively written by Paul. Very clever and entertaining. Prices were moderate. Restaurant dining area is small but is spotless. Every time we are near, we will definitely stop by. Would rather eat at Fu Manchung than at nearby Corkscrew, it's that good. read more

I would be lying if I said the star of the show here was the food because I would have to say that the girl in the front which I forgot her name was amazing she was very helpful and she treated me with such kindness and respect which is obviously not very common in the customer service in the stream so I would definitely recommend not just for customer service but also the food is amazing. read more

My husband has been dying to try this place out. We finally did last night and really enjoyed our experience. The food was delicious and the service was great. Everyone was super friendly. I came to this place to catch up with an old friend. The reviews and photos looked good so we thought to try it. The restaurant has a nice modern and sleek look. The first things you'll probably notice when you sit down are the names of the dishes. From the "Veggie Tofu-Licious" to the "Rib-O-Flava," everything is so fun and unique. Their milk tea is even "Milky Milk" (lol!). Fortunately, if you feel a little embarrassed saying the entree names out loud, they have them numbered as well. I ordered the L11 "Broke A$$ Ramen" and my friend got the L4 "Vermicelli Boom Cha Y'all." The wait for the food wasn't long and when it came out it looked very good. Portions are also decently sized and I had leftovers at the end. The menu said the ramen would have a spicy kick, but wasn't spicy at all. I enjoy a good burn so I asked for chili oil as well. They brought out about a tablespoon in a small dish for me, and I used it all on just half the ramen. Great food! Our waitress came around about three times to check on us after we received our food, our water cups were filled without us ever having to ask, and everyone we interacted with was so pleasant. I found Fu Manchung on Yelp tonight when I was in search of some Pho. I had been feeling nauseaous the past 24 hours and thought some soup might help. I have a bunch of food allergies and don't typically go to restaurants because it's a pain. I called Fu Manchung and spoke with Paul. I ordered the Pho-Chikanoodles for pick up and explained my gluten issue. He was super accommodating! When I picked up my food, he even checked with me on one ingredient before handing over my soup which I appreciated. The restaurant is really sleek looking, welcoming and clean. Paul and team really do treat you like family. The menu is creative and fun. Chef Taylor did an excellent job with my soup and I couldn't be happier. The soup was flavorful, filling and not too salty. The broth was really good by itself, too. Anyway, I am so excited I found Fu Manchung and the great customer service experience brightened my day. Unfortantley the past couple of visit has left me disappointed to the point I will not be returning for awhile if at all. I would write this place is going to depend on who is cooking. If it's the main chef the food will be excellent. However, I understand you cant rely on one chef alone for an entire restaurant. So coming here will be a hit or miss. Today was definitely a big big miss. I ordered the unusual fugnetti, the vietnamese salad, and the curry chicken. The kids dish was very bland and they ended up not eating or enjoying it like they usually do. The vietnamese salad, the beef was chewy and not grilled well. It was very big shredded pieces. The worse one was my curry chicken. I've had it before and normally it's a lovely style chicken curry with a very light flavor. The one I received today was chunky, heavy, with way too many lemongrass and very big chuck of chicken that wasn't cook properly. The dish was very hard to eat and very gaggy. The presentation was very poorly executed (it was very messy when given to me). I dont know what happen. But really this was not the unusual style that I am used to. Highly disappointing. read more

The menu is really fun to read cause there are interesting items like the macarolles which are macaroni and cheese in an egg roll form. Get the appetizer sampler so you can try the different fun rolls. The pho taste spectacular without msg. Very fresh and flavorful. The Baw Kaw is the name for traditional Bo Kho. Has a lot of good ratings but is lacking in some areas. We have 3 kids and when we arrive we had to order everything at the door prior to being able to sit. They don't have a kids menu so this was difficult to figure out while people are waiting in line behind you. We found fried Mac-n-cheese and the kids had that. The rest of our food was ok but not good. Took 45 minutes to eat after ordering and getting sate. Restaurant was dirty and tables weren't bused quickly. Maybe they had a staff member or two missing but just seemed like the normal operation, nobody hustling. My favorite lunch spot. I've tested and tried this place well over 10x now and have come to truly love it. Paul, the owner, is one of the guys that just gets it and everyone knows it. A combination of excellent hospitality, exquisite culinary design, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. It's even a treat to watch him in action as you eat: he greets regulars and new people alike with just the right touch. Food is always hot, cooked to request (I have bodily issues that have to be accommodated...), and delicous. I personally recommend the ribs. Value is amazing...I feel like I get an above average portion that always leaves me a little over full and regretting those last few bites that I just can't help but eat! Wow! I am impressed, I got the basil beef stir fry and it was delicious! As are their Vietnamese egg rolls. The meat was so tender, with a good amount of crispy veggies and a side of white rice. Was a fan of Fu Manchung prior to the pandemic with its clever twists on some Asian classics but truly had forgotten about it as an option as we settled into lockdown. Tonight restored my love affair and through their family dinner pack options got to taste and enjoy some dishes that I might have missed ala carte. First, the Pho-Licious. I'm a big eater and so soup as my entree rarely happens but the family pack had a heaping helping to share so I had to try. Thin beef slices, millions of noodles, meatball??? Slices in a tasty broth. This is real comfort food. Our pack include shrimp and pork spring rolls that disappeared so quickly I didn't get to taste but their rapid exit says they were fabulous. We added in an order of crabby cream rolls, a creative spin on crab Rangoon, that are silky and crunchy. This family pack served up the Vermicelli Boom Cha Y'all, a household favorite with lemon grass scented beef, shrimp and crispy egg rolls pilled on top of rice noodles. This will make you swear off any ordinary vermicelli bowls. The last entree was Wok'n beef. Just OMG. The most tender, marinated cubes of meet stored fried with onions and peppers that just melted in your mouth. Not being a pepper fan, I dismissed this dish from my realm of options in the past, but I slid those aside and devoured the dish. I think I found another bright side, family packs (and btw, this was one of the most reasonably priced family packs, chuck full of food) that allow you to experience what you might otherwise overlook. The packaging was tight with our name written across all items except one. That one had a big thanks and a smiley face. No, thank you for an outstanding meal.
