    Shrimp & pork dumplings
    Queen O.

I had an impromptu lunch date here and it went pretty well. The interior design is so nice. The service was very quick and everybody who helped us was nice. As an appetizer I got the shrimp & pork dumplings...10/10. The dumplings were so flavorful! For my entree I got the Malaysian chicken curry with a level 2 spice. It wasn't spicy at all to me, but it still was very flavorful and even when I reheated my leftovers the next day, it was still delicious. It came with a side of roti with their curry sauce. I enjoyed the roti, but I was not a fan of their curry sauce as it's more on the sweet side instead of savory. Overall, I had a good experience here and I'd definitely come back probably for happy hour.

Came here for lunch on a weekday. The entrance features bright neon signs that give a modern, downtown food hall vibe, and the interior is very spacious with plenty of seating. Our server was cheerful and friendly, and made recommendations from the lunch menu. I ordered the Nasi Lemak. While the coconut rice wasn't as fragrant as I expected, overall the dish offered great combination of flavor and texture. The curry chicken was tender and flavorful, the peanuts and fried egg added the crunch, the cucumber added refreshing contrast, and the sambal had the unique flavor. I'd definitely be back to explore more of the menu!

Very good! I see why it's Michelin star. Place is huge, so lots of room for large parties and even a room that looks like you can rent out. Food is delish! Our server was great and since it was our first time, she gave amazing recommendations. I went with my husband, cousin and his friend ordered multiple dishes for us all to share. Some of the dishes were kinda spicy, but the flavor was so good I didn't care! Would highly recommend eating here.

First time visiting and first time trying Malaysian food. Absolutely incredible food and service. We had shrimp dim sum, roti and curry, Haianese chicken and every bite was outstanding. The service was on point , there's a full bar and each sauce was super fresh and house made. Each item seem to bring new but comfortable flavors if your already into SE Asian flavors! Can not wait to go back

We ate at phat on the way back from a christmas trip. We arrived around noon and it wasnt busy The restaurant was tucked away in a very cosy spot and it is huge. It is very nice and fun inside Service was great Dishes overall was very good. Fish was delicious but not ikan bakar. It was more like sweet and sour. Tofu was good but I think they gave us the vegetarian option. Kang Kung was good too but sour. Kuey teow was good. Nasi goreng was good too. The drink was good but very small Disappointed there was no dessert . I really hoped for an ABC.

My first time in Woodlands and found Phat Eatery with the top-rated Malaysian Authentic dishes that I tasted so far. Service was attentive and pleasant. Typical Malaysian restaurant with dark timber wood and natural light from the windows.

Roti Cani - the curry sucked but the roti was spot on. the roti was Flaky and Chewy. Laksa - no Bueno. Not spicy. No seafood taste. Just coconut curry flavor. Prickly pear watermelon - so good. Too good. Curry chicken was the bomb. Tender. Flavorful. No adjustment on sodium level because it's pre-made though. I used this curry for the roti. Mee goreng was so good. Meat was so Tender. Salt and basil beef was okay. Nothing special. Flat noodles were good too. Nothing special but hits the spot for routine rice noodles. Chicken and mango was whatever Scallops were eh Skewers were so good but on the expensive end of the menu compared to other items String beans good texture. Asked for less salt and they accommodated! Great customer service - they open the door and close the door and walk you to car when raining!! Clean bathroom and dining area Open kitchen concept Been here a few time and it's consistent.

I gotta go all the way and give them 5 stars! The food is out of this world! This was my first experience with Malaysian food, and it did not disappoint. Everything we had was hot, fresh, and bursting with flavor! I'm literally drooling now as I write about this place. Here are the entrees we had (and I would recommend each of them): Curry Vegetable Casserole Mango Chicken Sizzling Tofu We also had some sort of mushroom appetizer, but I can't find it on their online menu. All I can tell you is that it was tasty as hell, and as addictive as crack! The ambience is very nice, and the service is top-notch. If you go, ask to be seated in the patio area - it's glassed in (and air conditioned), but you're basically sitting in the woods. It's awesome. This is a great date night place. Everything was great! They have beer, but I don't recall if they have a full bar (liquor).

Had been wanting to try this new offering for The Woodlands, knowing about the reputation of the chef/owner and location in Houston. Last minute decision and popped in on a Friday night around 7:30P, was surprised they weren't busier although it is a big space (formerly Fuddruckers). Promptly greeted and seated. Open kitchen concept with an industrial warehouse feel. Clean and minimalist. If you're not familiar with Malaysian food, no worries the menu is easily discernible by anyone. You'll be surprised by the extensive bar offerings, especially an impressive list of Bourbon. Service was friendly and attentive. Waitress was knowledgeable and helpful in making recommendations. My only complaint was the size of bell jar glasses for iced tea should have been larger.........lots of trips for refills. The food came very fast, was fresh ingredients and fragrant. My wife doesn't like spicy food so they brought me their house made hot sauce that I added to my plate. Loved it! Had just enough heat with a slight sweetness. Enough of a variety of healthy food options to suit anyone's tastes. We will definitely be adding Phat to our regular rotation.

An impromptu dinner date with my husband landed us at Phat Eatery. Truth be told, this place has been on my list of places to try for a while. It certainly didn't disappoint. We took advantage of the Houston Restaurant Weeks menu, and got some delicious food. The atmosphere was awesome. We got seated with a few of the kitchen, which was cool for us. The service, especially the manager, was welcoming and friendly. Our server was a bit slow and didn't come by much to check on us, but I could tell he was overwhelmed, so I gave him grace. It's not an easy job. I'm looking forward to going back. Especially since they have happy hour until 7pm.

This was our celebratory meal to end summer. I've been wanting to come here for a while now. Plenty of parking in their lot. The ambiance is nice. There's a room with lots of windows so you can have a wooded view of the surroundings while dining. We got a waiter in training together with the trainer. Both were very nice and attentive. I saw they had a happy hour menu between 5-7 pm so I decided to capitalize on that as prices seemed a bit on the high side after looking at their menu online. We got the Phat sliders for $10 on the happy hour menu because I wanted to try the rendang but didn't want to shell $26 for it. Well I don't think I got the essence of it from the sliders. The beef was horribly overcooked. Dry, hard and thin. The bun was good but overall the slider was a bit of a disappointment. We also got the Houston Restaurant Week menu for $39. The beef roti canal was lacking in flavor. The roti was good but I can make the same thing from frozen rotis from Costco that taste just as good. The salt & pepper calamari was meh. A little soggy. And way too many onions. I mean I love onions. But it was a whole lot. Like a thick bed of onions. I wish there were more calamari instead of filling the plate up with onions. The waiter had brought out all 3 of the above dishes at the same time. He asked if we wanted the Malaysian chicken curry to come out now or later. I know why he asked that. Because some guy complained about everything coming out super fast while he was on a date there. Well it was just me and the kiddo. So I told him to bring it out mainly because I didn't want it sitting under a heat lamp drying up. Well in theory I think my strategy was good. But boy was that chicken dry. The sauce was not very flavorful too. Again, a bit of a let down. For desert we wanted the teh Tarik tres leches but apparently they sold out two days ago. Not sure why they didn't make more over the past 2 days as they said it's made from scratch. I wanted the pandan mango sticky rice then, but alas that too was sold out. I know they use mango and they use rice for some of their other dishes ... so like how could they be sold out? Sigh. Anyway the only thing left was the roti pillows. Ack. I was kinda roti'd out from the appetizer. They were ok - just kinda tasted like beignets. Someone complained about there being a fly problem. Well yes in fact we did see fly in the dining hall as well. It didn't land on our food but did zip by annoyingly several times. Overall for me it was a very mediocre meal that made up for it with good service and a nice setting. Don't know that I'd go back again but glad I visited.

Got to try their newer location for lunch and it was great. Surprisingly the service here was even better than their original location, which is saying a lot because the service there was very impressive. The food was amazing again. This time I tried one of the chicken rice dishes called Nasi Lemak which was so tasty it was hard to stop eating even though full. Heads up the menu are not the same at both restaurants so make sure to check ahead if you have a favorite dish. The location is bigger but they still maintain the same ambiance in the front restaurant. Extra seating in the back was well lit and open but lack of decor made it a bit antiseptic. I'll keep going back for sure, which really is my strongest recommendation.

I've frequented the Katy location several times, but this was my first time trying the Woodlands location. Had a great experience! The menu is just about the same (with a few exceptions, not everything available at the original location is here yet according to our waitress) and the decor is also identical, but the vibes are slightly different. While the Katy location has a more moody, intimate energy, this location is open, brighter, and airy, with a rear dining room with massive windows showcasing a beautiful view of the woods that give the Woodlands its name. Food came out SUPER quickly, which I wasn't expecting for a Sunday dinner. Everything was high quality and had the correct spice levels we requested. Highly recommend the Roti Canai- so indulgent, fluffy, rich. I'll alternate between ordering the Coconut Prawns or the Malay Hor Fun depending on what I'm craving, and both are always consistently so good. And today I tried their Pandan Colada mocktail for the first time off the Happy Hour Menu ($7 during happy hour vs. $8 any other time of day), and this one blew me away. I'll be coming back for this drink expeditiously. This location is beautiful, parking is easy, and our waitress, Kayla, was lovely & informative! So glad I don't have to drive all the way to Katy for bomb Malaysian street food. - Ambiance: 5/5 - Food: 5/5 - Service: 5/5

We got the roti canai and salt and pepper calamari as appetizers, and the sizzling tofu, beef rendang, CK teow as entrees. - Sizzling tofu (6/5): A MUST TRY! I've never had tofu with this texture before. The outside is slightly crisp and the inside so light and fluffy, it feels like bitting into a cloud. The tofu tastes like a creamy egg soufflé and the sauce is savory and salty with pieces of sauté onions that add a nice crunch. The presentation was also very striking with the server pouring the sizzling sauce over the tofu. It's just such a beautiful dish that I would go back solely for! - Beef rendang (4.5/5): Overall a delicious and hearty dish. The beef was very tender and juicy, and there was a generous amount of it. The potatoes soaked up the sauce very well and made the dish extra filling. I forgot if we got to pick a spice level, but the dish had a nice kick to it and wasn't overwhelming spicy. - "CK teow" char kway teow (4/5): This dish had a lovely char tasted to it that made it very addictive. Just a nice savory noodle dish. I think my only complaint was that the portion was on the smaller side - Salt & pepper calamari (3.6/5): This was a pretty good calamari. The calamari had a light and crispy exterior and was pretty tender and seasoned really well. The chunky veggies were a nice touch texture wise. - Roti Canai (3.6/5): the Indian bread was so nice and flakey, I could've eaten it alone. The curry was also really tasty and flavorful, just a little bit watery. Service/ambiance: Service was excellent and they gave us so much rice. The restaurant was dimly lit, giving it a nice ambiance for dinner or a date night.

As I dug deeper, I read Jando's glowing review word-for-word and found myself salivating. Well, I ventured out to S. Mason for lunch, found the place easily, appreciated the ample and free parking, and walked in. I had read before that they used to be closed on Tuesdays and Saturdays, but now they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays but open for dinner on Saturdays. (See my photos.) Anyhow, we walked in and found the place homey. Nothing fancy - just a nice, clean, homey Malaysian restaurant. Not too big, and not too small. We placed our order of roti canai, stir fried flat rice noodles, seafood sizzling tofu, and topped it off with a Malaysian milk tea. Oh my - we were satisfied and stuffed as a party of 2. We ended up boxing up almost 40% of the meal. The roti was near perfection - crispy, hot, flaky. The dipping sauce was perfectly seasoned with the right amount of heat. It included chunks of chicken and potato. You must absolutely order this one. I love me some stir fried flat rice noodles so we got that one with chicken. Overall, it was excellent. Portions were a tad smaller than I would like for the price. Also it could use a little bit of hot sauce so we asked for a side of sriracha which they gladly and quickly brought. The sizzling tofu - OMG so good. I can't even explain it. I just love it so much and the portions are huge. I'm not sure what the vegetable flavor would taste like but we tried the seafood one and have no regrets. Lastly the milk tea was just because we felt like splurging and it was also a great decision. The tea flavor itself is deep and the overall drink is very nice. We got it iced. And an honorable mention - we ran into Uncle Chin (at least we assume it was Uncle Chin) and told him his food was amazing. I think he really appreciated it. He seems like a super nice guy and I want his business to do really well. If that wasn't Uncle Chin then we talked to a random person and raved about the food... Almost each time I've dined here I was the only customer or among the only people dining at all. The roti canai is among the better versions I've had since being in Texas. The bread is perfectly flakey and is a lethal combo with their nicely spiced chicken curry. Equally impressive was the laksa, which featured a heavy dose of coconut milk and a broth that could cure any winter blues. Their generic chicken curry was everything but as it packed heat, flavor, and plenty of soft potatoes to go with the texture bomb of the white rice. Both the beef and chicken satay impressed, as did the char kway two which was only a tinge only with plenty of 'essence" in the wok char (#2). The only dish that didn't hit was also the most expensive one, which was beef rendang, one of my all time favorite dishes. All of the dishes had decent portion and the flavors were good; the beef rendang was definitely not as good as I remembered from the OG store but the nasi lemak and stir fried noodles were a hit. Great food option for the area!

The service is pretty good, the waiter was attentive and the food came out pretty fast. The place is a bit small but still spacious and had a lot of tables open when we arrived. The beef rendang, Hainanese chicken, Nasi lemak, and roti canai are gone and replaced with mapo tofu, braised pork, cumin beef and lamb, etc. Don't get me wrong, I love Chinese food but I eat it too often and wanted variety by coming here. I settled for the Sizzling Malay Tofu (luckily the only thing I was craving stayed on the menu) but the price was $18. I found the price a bit steep considering the ingredients are very cheap and the portion was okay. The dish itself tasted the same (except they replaced the seafood with minced meat) & the texture of the tofu was perfect. The waiter was hovering quite a bit which made my meal less enjoyable. Very sad that I came when they were testing out their Chinese menu. I don't think the pivot is good since people come here for Malaysian food.

In spite of arriving and being seated shortly after opening, we waited for over an hour for our food, and this seemed the case for other diners as well. This is in accord with other reviewers' experiences. That's a long time to wait. Ambiance was typical of strip-mall hole in the wall. Restrooms were amazingly clean. On the other hand, the service was friendly and the food was excellent. We ordered the soto ayam (chicken noodle soup) and ayan penyei (smash chicken). The soup was quite flavorful and loaded with veggies, a nice texture and easily a meal - not your typical chicken and noodles soup. The smash chicken dish appeared to be a roasted free-range chicken, fall-off-the-bone tender and with crispy skin and a great flavor, which paired well with the accompanying rice. We were both quite impressed with the food. Overall, great food, but a horribly long wait for it. We'd like to return, but have to plan for the wait or maybe order to go. I'm giving it 4 stars for the excellent food, but should probably knock that down to maybe 3 for the wait.
