When is it OK, to use a electrician that is not licensed and have the electrical done wrong to what should of been a gas unit not electrical. Came in and serviced our apartment and had no plastic covering or vacuum apparently and left a mess in the closet and then covered it back up with our stuff. Idk how much they charge because its through property management but every professional knows you dont do this ever. this is lazy and reflects the whole company; not just who ever you sent out to do the work. This review is far overdue. Frye installed a complete HVAC system and two mini-splits in my house when I bought it. That year it was 110* and my windows were crap at the time. While the HVAC portion of the house was perfect in temps, the splits weren't able to keep up with the heat. Frye and his team came out many times to diag and attempt to fix to no avail. Finally, one fall evening while watching football the house was boiling hot where the splits were. Reached out to Frye for a fix. He and his tech came to the house and attempted to fix, with the mfg's help a few times and finally said the units were junk. Instead of fighting with the distributor or mfg of the splits (and I was geared up for legal issues), Allen stepped up and replaced the units with new, larger units from a different mfg. I offered to pay the upcharge and he declined and instead, did what is right. The entire house is now cool on hot days and Allen far exceeded expectation. Doing the job right the first time is great, but how you step up in lousy situations garners customers for life. Great job, Frye team. read more

We had a 26 year-old system that was working "ok", but really inefficient and wasn't keeping up with controlling the temperature in our home. Allen was knowledgeable and took the time to explain why the current system wasn't working well. He also gave some logical (and inexpensive) suggestions to improve performance, which were incorporated when he and his crew installed the new system. The crew installed the thermostat of my choice. They also built a new platform to move the new attic furnace location away from over our Master bedroom to minimize noise. In addition to the normal temperature delta measurements, Allen also took airflow measurements before and after the install and there was a noticeable improvement, so the suggestions worked. I highly recommend contacting Allen for your heating and/or AC needs. He is super responsive, contacts you when he says he is going to, and just easy to work with. My old Williams wall heater went out and I needed a new one installed asap as my house was gettin chilly! The other heating companies were giving me the run around and one gave me an insanely high quote for what ended being a job that took less than 2 hours. Our mini splits were installed by this company. Right after installation, water started leaking from the duct here and there. Electric wires are exposed not covered at all. Of course, we tried to get hold of Allen. NO ZERO respond. I wonder Allen lost his license after our job for 1 year?? We had to hire other company to fix the problem and we found FRYE's crappy job. Well super bummed in just a few years the a/c unit installed has severely leaked twice, all throughout the garage & outside. The condenser pan which is completely made of plastic cracked & needs to be replaced. The knobs in the unit are also plastic & have cracked. I wanted to install a new smart thermostat for my A/C, but I had to first check for the presence of a C-wire behind my old thermostat. I turned off the A/C breaker, removed the old thermostat and confirmed there was a C-wire. However, after turning the breaker back on the thermostat showed no power and my A/C did not work. I called my home warranty company. The technician they assigned diagnosed the problem as blown capacitors on the compressor unit, a failed 24-volt transformer and defective control board. He quoted an exorbitantly expensive $975 repair bill, of which the home warranty company would only cover $200. The diagnoses made no sense to me, so I called Frye Mechanical for a 2nd opinion. Allen Frye arrived and diagnosed the problem as simply 2 blown fuses. He returned my system to full operational status for $120, including installation of the new smart thermostat I had purchased. Allen is our hero, and he is now our go-to guy for all things A/C. And I'll probably call him first no matter what breaks at our house! Our AC went out over the weekend and I was calling my old AC guy and he was swamped. I called around and places were backed up for a few days and I couldn't wait any longer. I called Saturday night and he called me Sunday morning and came out first thing this morning (Monday) and figured out the issue. I needed a new motherboard as ours had shorted out because water had gotten in it from the evaporator. He called around to try and find aftermarket parts to help me save some money. A/C down for 2 days, finally found Allen on Yelp, the only Ramona A/C professional. Got a quick call back the morning I called and he was able to come out in 45 minutes. Troubleshot to a bad motor (bearings screaming under load) and also a bad relay. A run down the hill, some parts onboard, and a quick remove and replace and the system is humming along like the good old days.
