When is it OK, to ignore your written warranty promise? When is it OK, not to complete the written work on the contract? When is it OK, to promise installing a gas mini split system but install electric instead? When is it OK, to use a electrician that is not licensed and have the electrical done wrong to what should of been a gas unit not electrical. If you use FRYE Mechanical than you are saying Ok, to all of this. read more

Came in and serviced our apartment and had no plastic covering or vacuum apparently and left a mess in the closet and then covered it back up with our stuff. Idk how much they charge because its through property management but every professional knows you dont do this ever. this is lazy and reflects the whole company; not just who ever you sent out to do the work. So do better don't leave a mess it's disrespectful and lazy read more

Jayden was responsive, competent & kept us informed during the process of repairing our 5 year old Fujitsu mini-split. Pricing was fair. Frye didn't sell or install the original unit; another local contractor did. Next time I'll use Frye. read more

This review is far overdue. Frye installed a complete HVAC system and two mini-splits in my house when I bought it. That year it was 110* and my windows were crap at the time. While the HVAC portion of the house was perfect in temps, the splits weren't able to keep up with the heat. Frye and his team came out many times to diag and attempt to fix to no avail. Finally, one fall evening while watching football the house was boiling hot where the splits were. Reached out to Frye for a fix. He and his tech came to the house and attempted to fix, with the mfg's help a few times and finally said the units were junk. Instead of fighting with the distributor or mfg of the splits (and I was geared up for legal issues), Allen stepped up and replaced the units with new, larger units from a different mfg. I offered to pay the upcharge and he declined and instead, did what is right. The entire house is now cool on hot days and Allen far exceeded expectation. Doing the job right the first time is great, but how you step up in lousy situations garners customers for life. Great job, Frye team. read more

Every time Frye comes out we are thoroughly impressed. They care about their customers, genuinely. They did not want to bend us over on pricing. They repaired the problem, established expectations and made great suggestions for ways to fix/alleviate our undersized unit. While 2 other companies flat out lied about what our issue was, Frye came out, listened with intent and took great care of us. Soooooo incredibly grateful and appreciative to this company! read more

5 stars from the first initial phone call. Allen communicated so well from the very first phone call and continued to be extremely professional and helpful answering questions during the process. He offered a prompt appointment for an estimate, arrived on time, was very respectful and listened to our individual needs. New AC unit was ordered and the installation was fantastic. Allen and his team were punctual, trustworthy, extremely friendly and efficient. The team explained the different stages of the installation and kept us in the loop with excellent communication. Their estimate and work were 5 stars! Thank you. If you need HVAC needs - please consider FRYE! read more

I am blown away at this service which frankly is extremely rare nowadays. My phone call was promptly returned, an appointment made with follow up text message, and a text from Chris letting me know he was on his way. Chris was professional, on time, answered all my questions, and got my 20 year old failing air conditioner working. He also gave me great no bs info on my options in the future when this unit will eventually give up the ship. I am so appreciative to find this quality of service. It is rare to find such service in today's world and yes-the price was very reasonable and fair! Extremely happy! read more

I highly recommend contacting Allen for your heating and/or AC needs. He is super responsive, contacts you when he says he is going to, and just easy to work with. My old Williams wall heater went out and I needed a new one installed asap as my house was gettin chilly! The other heating companies were giving me the run around and one gave me an insanely high quote for what ended being a job that took less than 2 hours. Allen came out, installed it quickly and I now have roaring heat again. Received his number from my neighbor who was also very happy with his service. Nice, honest, hardworking guy, which is hard to find these days. We will be utilizing him again to install mini-splits in the future. Thanks Allen! read more

We had a 26 year-old system that was working "ok", but really inefficient and wasn't keeping up with controlling the temperature in our home. Allen was knowledgeable and took the time to explain why the current system wasn't working well. He also gave some logical (and inexpensive) suggestions to improve performance, which were incorporated when he and his crew installed the new system. The crew installed the thermostat of my choice. They also built a new platform to move the new attic furnace location away from over our Master bedroom to minimize noise. In addition to the normal temperature delta measurements, Allen also took airflow measurements before and after the install and there was a noticeable improvement, so the suggestions worked. Good price and quality install, so I'm happy to give Frye five stars! read more

Finally, a local company that actually answers the phone, no BS questions, scheduled with my time consideration, arrived early, fixed my issue in a prompt professional manner and charged me exactly what I was quoted which I considered quite reasonable. No BS upsell schemes, just prompt honest service! read more

Great experience. Saw they were recommended in Ramona and gave them a call to check out our Air Conditioning that had stopped blowing cold air. Allen stopped by the next day and was very friendly. He found the issue right away (capacitor - luckily for us, a small quick repair). Kudos to him for not trying to sell us some bigger repair or replacement that we don't need. read more

Just got our new AC system installed and couldn't be happier with service and results. Hard workers with the utmost professionalism and excellent customer service. Allen was very communicative and friendly throughout the entire process from coming out to give us a quote, showing up on time, being responsive whenever we had questions and more. Highly recommend Frye Mechanical to anyone needing HVAC services! read more

Can say enough of Allen and his crew. Very straight forward and honest. He is super reliable and responsive to my inquiries. We have used Allen Frye Mechanical at our business in Ramona San Diego Country Estates and our home. We have swamp coolers at our business suite and he brought one back from the dead. It has not worked in 5 years. At our home we were babying our AC unit which was the original equipment to our house from 1984. He was able to switch out our old system with a new system at a very reasonable price. We work and live in Ramona and we love our local businesses. This is what makes our town great. Thank you to his crew for demo and install in one day as we will continue to use and refer his business in the future. read more

Our mini splits were installed by this company. Right after installation, water started leaking from the duct here and there. Electric wires are exposed not covered at all. Of course, we tried to get hold of Allen. NO ZERO respond. I wonder Allen lost his license after our job for 1 year?? We had to hire other company to fix the problem and we found FRYE's crappy job. Yes, we do have photos for proof. Repair costed $2000. I hope Allen pays this, hahaha. read more

We learned about Frye through our Nextdoor app. Looking for an AC company to install a mini split in our home in Ramona. Allen was super responsive, and came to our home to do a quote the same day we called, and the price was really reasonable. Top notch service with excellent customer support. It was wonderful that he is mentoring his son Jake and we will definitely utilize their services in the future as there was an Immediate response and prompt arrival on the day of service ( which was on the 4th of July) Ultimately this made our experience with this family owned business Outstanding. After inspection of my existing system I asked for a quote for a new system so we would be prepared should this 25+ year old system go down and Allen was very prompt in providing that quote. read more

i would recommend this company hands down. as i'm only a tenant, i can't say anything about cost, however most landlords look for the best price they can get ! my wall heater was red tagged on dec. 21st. my landlord contacted allen and he located & installed my wall heater dec. 22nd at 9:00 a.m. amazing service since it was christmas weekend the next day. he cleaned up all around his work area. i ask for a few business cards, as i will recommend him to friends & family, along with a few property managers i know. thank you so much for a job well done. bobbie b. read more

Yesterday (a Friday at nearly 3pm) our A/C went out. I called Allen at FRYE and he answered promptly, was very friendly, and said he would be out the next morning at 9. He show up right on time and our A/C was fixed within an hour. He was very honest, fixed the problem, and didn't try to immediately sell us a new A/C even though we definitely will need one down the road. If you're in need look no further than FRYE! read more

So thankful I called FRYE to come look at my non working AC. Allen not only responded on a Sunday evening, but was able to look at it by Tuesday morning. My original contractor did a messy job on my split a/c unit. I had a weird feeling that it wasn't installed correctly so I called Frye Mechanical. Alan came the same day I called and saved my unit! GRATEFUL !!! Honest, price quoted is what I paid, BEST price, on time, neat, respected our property, complete clear communication and trustworthy. I first met Allen Frye at my work place. His company installed and maintains the systems there which work beautifully. Allen is really nice and approachable. I asked him if he did residential as well. We set an appt. to estimate a price on a whole new system. His estimate was the best. He charged what he quoted and installed exactly as he quoted. We had a flood in our home last summer and our really old floor furnace was toast. We needed ducting installed along with the new system. So, in a total of 2 days we have heat and a/c !!! Super happy !!! We will definitely recommend Allen anytime we have the opportunity. 5 star all the way Thank you guys read more

Well super bummed in just a few years the a/c unit installed has severely leaked twice, all throughout the garage & outside. The condenser pan which is completely made of plastic cracked & needs to be replaced. The knobs in the unit are also plastic & have cracked. We were unable to get FRYE Mechanical to return our calls & have since worked with another company. read more

As summer quickly approaches I knew that I couldn't get through another summer with window a/c units. I contacted Allen and he came and gave me an estimate within a day and was on time, communicated and kept in mind my budget and listened to my concerns. I got a second quote just for comparison (I don't know what the heck I am doing lol) and Allen was half price!!!!...not a few hundred dollars less...HALF THE PRICE!!!! I told him I wanted to get it done and he came out 2 days later to install. It was done in no time and once all installed he explained to me how the system works and made suggestions on how to be most energy efficient. Thank you so much!! read more

My ac went out and Allan came out same day and got it up and running in no time. Thank You so much Allan!

I was referred to Allen Frye by a friend whose in the business. I'd already had quotes from ASI, Ideal and others. Allen was half the price of ASI and he also installed two furnaces for me as well. I encourage anyone interested in heating and air conditioning you must call Allen Frye!! I've talked to several friends I referred and everyone's happy. Don't get sucked in by ASI and their expensive commercials. read more

I wanted to install a new smart thermostat for my A/C, but I had to first check for the presence of a C-wire behind my old thermostat. I turned off the A/C breaker, removed the old thermostat and confirmed there was a C-wire. However, after turning the breaker back on the thermostat showed no power and my A/C did not work. I called my home warranty company. The technician they assigned diagnosed the problem as blown capacitors on the compressor unit, a failed 24-volt transformer and defective control board. He quoted an exorbitantly expensive $975 repair bill, of which the home warranty company would only cover $200. The diagnoses made no sense to me, so I called Frye Mechanical for a 2nd opinion. Allen Frye arrived and diagnosed the problem as simply 2 blown fuses. He returned my system to full operational status for $120, including installation of the new smart thermostat I had purchased. Allen is our hero, and he is now our go-to guy for all things A/C. And I'll probably call him first no matter what breaks at our house! Thank you, Allen, for your great service, fair price and honest work! read more

Our air conditioning unit was blowing out the same air temperature outside into my house making it hotter inside. Alan came out on a Sunday and I had a new air conditioning unit on Monday. Allan is the epitome of what you would hope for when you need help. We purchased our home this past year and quickly learned it was not taken care of properly. Our furnace was of no exception. Our first tech came out (found off yelp) only to quote us $2,000 to clean the unit and $4,500 to replace it. Fortunately we decided to get a second opinion and were incredibly blessed to have been pointed in Allan's direction. He took the time to extensively check out our system and with his knowledge base fixed the monster. After further thought we decided it would be best for the safety of our home and family to have a new unit installed and he made us a priority to have the brand new unit installed expeditiously and at an extremely competitive price. Our experience with Frye Mechanical was painless and refreshing. We would and will recommend them to everyone. read more

Our AC went out over the weekend and I was calling my old AC guy and he was swamped. I called around and places were backed up for a few days and I couldn't wait any longer. I checked out our local community forum and a lady had recommended FRYE and said they were very quick and reliable. I called Saturday night and he called me Sunday morning and came out first thing this morning (Monday) and figured out the issue. I needed a new motherboard as ours had shorted out because water had gotten in it from the evaporator. He called around to try and find aftermarket parts to help me save some money. Unfortunately the parts weren't available but the cost of the parts I needed wasn't too bad at all. He headed to Lakeside to pick up parts and he's headed back to install now. The owner, Allen is the person I dealt with. He's extremely professional but down to earth. He's definitely my new go to guy for AC. Fast, super reliable and fair. read more

A/C down for 2 days, finally found Allen on Yelp, the only Ramona A/C professional. Got a quick call back the morning I called and he was able to come out in 45 minutes. Troubleshot to a bad motor (bearings screaming under load) and also a bad relay. A run down the hill, some parts onboard, and a quick remove and replace and the system is humming along like the good old days. I thought I was going to have to replace my 19 y.o. system but she's got some life left and that's OK with me. Very knowledgeable and professional. Highly recommend. read more
