Extremely Honest. Very Innovative. Hard Working People. Recently had an A/C issue. Called 2 local companies (to be named later). They both mis-diagnosed the issue and said if I paid $6,000 or $6,200 they could fix it today. I called the good & honest people at Hi-Tech, and you should too. A tech was out here the next day (during HOT July) & diagnosed it properly. The Unit was tilted, so the water could not go into primary drain line. The unit was leveled, and a $300 part needed to be replaced. When Shaun the tech heard that the part needed to be ordered, he came out (free of charge) 9PM on a Sunday night so my son & I could have AC on a hot night. Kari & Jen in the office are honest & hard working. They saved me $6,000 and saved the day in less than 24 hours. Thank you & God Bless all of you. read more

I received a couple of quotes from well known companies and Hi-Tech was the best. As they were informative, patient and wore shoe covers inside my house when other companies did not. They are a small business and the amount of care I received when my unit went out was amazing and like no other. All I can say is "WOW, fabulous service!" We are having excessive heat this weekend and our A/C decided to conk out on us yesterday evening! It wasn't pleasant! It sucked actually! I really thought I was doing to die! We were suffering to say the least. I was really stressed out as it topped out at 109 degrees yesterday and another 109 degrees today as well! We have a dog, two cats and three little birds I had to help keep cool too! I felt it was a hopeless situation as it's a holiday weekend. I mean, who is willing to come out on a holiday weekend? We managed to make it through the night. It wasn't just the heat but the heavy smoke filling the air from the fire. We did a search online hoping to find someone who would be willing to come out and fix the unit. We were pretty sure it was the capacitor that went. We found Hi-Tech Air Heating and Cooling. It said they're a 24/7 operating business. I called around 7:30 am and left my details with their answering service. Within 20 mins, Jennifer rang me back! She had Cisco our tech here with a 2 hour window! I was impressed! I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming or died from the heat! Cisco arrived at our house by 9:30 am!!! He was awesome! Very professional, polite and knowledgeable. Oh, did I forget to mention, quick and attentive? I couldn't ask for a better tech, really! He was our savior! I owe my life to this company, truly! My review updates just get worse and worse. To recap, the workers came to remove the insulation they had installed behind my PTAC unit, and make sure the a/c was working for the summer. They announced that there was sufficient freon, and left. However, as soon as I turned the unit on I discovered the compressor would turn on for about 8 seconds and then revert to fan-only for about 10 minutes, continuously. Within 10 minutes of their departure I called Hi Tek, who told me the workers could not return for another week!! After calling a couple of days later I was able to get an appointment for that Saturday, between 11-3. Saturday arrived, and when I didn't hear anything, I made several calls throughout the day to find out what the status was. Each time I was assured that I was on their schedule, and I would get a callback with an update but that never happened. Finally, by 6:00 p.m. I was told that the workers were no longer answering their phones, and there was nothing they could do. It is now Monday afternoon and they never called back to apologize or to schedule another visit. I should point out that the person I spoke with on the phone told me he was aware that I had written an earlier version of this review which mentioned their lack of organization in confirming phone appointments, so making me wait from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. with no one ever coming may well have been his form of retribution. Or else it's simply ineptitude-- neither of which are qualities you want in your a/c repair person. Be Aware: They are also operating under the name "PTAC Repair NYC." They are both listed online, and have a different phone number and address. But when you call the number for PTAC Repair NYC you get connected to Hi-Tech. That seems extremely deceptive. My recommendation would be to avoid both! On the plus side, the workers are extremely polite while they're "scr**ing you," so if you don't mind wasting your time and having unreliable service as long as you're treated nicely, it might be worth giving them a try. Maybe you'll get lucky and they'll show up as promised and even discover what's wrong with your air conditioner!! read more

Received same day service by tech Nick. He was on-time, polite, clean, professional, and explained everything. My Heat pump failed unexpectantly. Some rodent chewed thru the wiring. He replaced a part, cleaned out the electrocuted victims and the cost under $290.00. I appreciated the excellent service. I would highly recommend them to my family and friends. Hi-Tech Air did our new HVAC system almost two years ago. We relocated the furnace to the attach, sealed off old vents, created new vents, added extra vents, and installed a QuietCool whole house fan. Everything has been great with our system, we've had them out to balance it. The company is extremely professional, punctual and knowledgeable. Most recently we had to have someone come out today because since adding attic insulation, the house fan is blowing back air into the house. They determined we need a new vent installed. I like that they handle all aspects of this without me needing to figure out what I need to do or where I need to go. Will update after the new attic vent is installed. read more

So, I need to replace a thru the wall ac unit in our condo. I call Hi-Tech make for service tech to come out. The sales & operations manager took the call. I gave her all the specs from the metal tag, with model & serial numbers. In the first email sent all the specs, and pics. Jen arrived on time. Took 15 mins if that to measure up as I had already had the chassis pulled from the sleeve for her to look. There first estimate was over priced for the equipment needed. While we were going back & forth I called AJ Madison. They have the unit that will fit. Sadly I was informed by Jen that 1. They don't install equipment that the owner/customer goes out, and buys, 2. I send the info that AJ Madison sent me in an email of the unit. They claim they cannot buy from AN Madison. With all the excuses if we cannot they came back with a price 1 1/2 Times more then the values of said slide in ac chassis & sleeve. It does seem these companies have you over a barrel when you have to have thru the wall AC units replaced. I look else where. It's like they don't want residential customers that aren't spending yards of money. Then they want to jack of the price 1.5 to 2 time the cost of the unit itself. read more

I have to give a huge shout out to Hi-Tech Air Conditioning, and especially to their serviceman, Hadeer . He went above and beyond to give me great service, even coming for a 2nd visit to complete the job on a Saturday when he didn't have to. I had received a ridiculous quote from a different company to drain a clogged drain line and do other apparently unnecessary work. Hadeer took the time to explain the real problem and he did very good, clean work. I am confident that my monthly utility bills are going to go down because Hadeer's suggestion will make my unit more efficient. It's already 5 times more quiet too because it doesn't have to work so hard. As a single woman, I am always skeptical that I'm being taken for a ride, but Hadeer was very honest and an obvious perfectionist. It's nice when a company advertises 24/7 that they actually are. I called another company in Carlsbad and after leaving a message on voicemail, never ever got a call back. Hi-Tech has an after hours service that actually answers the phone. She took down my issues and info and had a technician call. He was out within about 3 hours and promptly found the problem. We had issue with cooling system. We called them and the receptionist Kari picked the phone, she was super friendly and helpful, send us the technician on a same day. Technician Chris showed up on time, and figured out the issue within 10 mins. He also recommended us the better type of filter that saves energy and cost. Hi-Tech recently replaced my 36-year old Heat Pump. I had taken 3 bids and selected H-T because of their professional demeanor and very good price. They had previously helped me with a "bandaid" fix. I found them to be honest and fair. My power bill dropped by almost 45% once the new heat pump was installed--fantastic! Last weekend, the A.C. stopped working. I called and their weekend service connected me with a technician. Casper was great on the phone and showed up at my place in less than 2-hours. I was surprised and very pleased to learn that he was actually a Hi-Tech team member. The problem was very minor and he had me cool and calm in just a few minutes. One of the best experiences I have ever had with a service company! Honest! Fair! Local company! Called early afternoon and the super friendly receptionist put me on hold for like a minute and when she came back and said that a technician would be out later that day, I couldn't believe it. It was the hottest day of the year and I had already made several unsuccessful attempts to procure assistance with our struggling unit. The technician showed up at 345 (awesome; less than 3 hrs later!!), he came in and advised us of what he thought the problem might be, but that in order to fix it, he would have to return the next day. The technician returned the next day, on time, as promised - and I don't know, but I think he is a magician!! in 2 hours my previously "UNREPAIRABLE" unit (which we were told by two previous companies) was transformed into an amazingly efficient machine, I could chill meat in my house if I wanted to!!!! He took the time to actually troubleshoot and not UPSELL me! He didn't take advantage of our circumstances - OR the fact that it was 97 degrees in my house! He was professional and FAIR! Price was absolutely reasonable, but above all the service was great! He cleaned up after himself and assured me in an hour or so I would be feeling the difference. It is amazing! Initial call in was very friendly and set up apt. after I asked about a service charge, was given a price and told the SC would only be charged if I declined the estimate. In brief, I was not given an estimate in advance, ended up being charged more than the $120.00 per hour I was quoted. No need to diagnose the problem, I already knew what was wrong; I paid $179.00 to have MY CORK, put into my HVAC unit and $5.00 worth of PVC pipe rerouted, while I waited for an estimate for the parts needed to effectuate the actual repair. I had to call and E-mailed twice, to get the estimate to correctly replace the parts and told, I was charged the "standard residential rate" despite the fact that I called and informed the office I was not given an estimate, during the billing process and again quoted $120.00 per hour! I am really disappointed in the poor business practices, and would never recommend this company. They have friendly staff but it's a total rip-off. read more

Great communication from office staff (Kari). Kept me updated as they worked with my tenant to coordinate the repair. Very easy to schedule and work with. While they had to refer out a portion of the repair to a plumber which I was not happy about, Jen the office manager went out of her way (I did not request this) to make things right and ended up refunding me a portion of the service charge. Kary was very professional, competent, honest, courteous, patient, and easy to talk to, welcoming, non-judgmental, knowledgeable, and helpful. Bottom line, she was able to able to gain my trust and confidence in your company by alleviating my major concerns through honest and direct conversation. I truly appreciate Kary for going the extra mile to answer hard questions. When she didn't know the answers, she took the time to get the answers and got back with me in a timely manner unlike the other customer service representatives from other businesses, which just referred me to their technicians to answer my question. Being passed around to several people only to repeat yourself over and over again is really not a fun experience, especially when it's not necessary. Kary saved me from having to explain the problems to a bunch of people by taking the initiative to communicate my concerns directly to their experts. I have a knack of discerning dishonest and incompetent businesses. Let's just say I'm more than your average all around handyman. As to John, your field technician, I really enjoyed working with him. Much like Kary, John is very professional, knowledgeable, competent, courteous, honest, easy to talk to, direct with customer relation skills. What I really appreciate the most about John is his ability to put my concerns (e.g. dishonesty and incompetence) at ease. He didn't try to up-sell me anything or recommend unnecessary repairs. He actually made meaningful and honest recommendations and advice on issues concerning the repairs on my HVAC system. He was even happy to give me a lesson and walk me through exactly what he is doing, ensuring that I'm comfortable with every steps he makes. Fortunately for him, I already know the problem even before he uttered his diagnosis; hence, he didn't have to answer a million questions from me. And like I said, I'm a little more than your average handyman. For me the most important for any business I deal with, is the quality of its people and the product they deliver, service or otherwise. This is the only way such a business can earn the trust and loyalty of a valued customer. Well, at least for me, this is the only way I would even consider to do business with a company. Anyhow, I can truly say that my experience with your company has been exceedingly great. Consider me as a loyal customer!!! My Complicated split system with condenser outside and evaporator coil in the attic failed on a hot Friday evening over the Labor Day Weekend. I called Hi-Tech early Saturday morning, and the technician arrived within an hour. He spent about 20 minutes evaluating the system and then told me that the condenser motor capacitor had failed. He said he had one on the truck. He replaced the capacitor and the unit worked. Very pleased with the response and the expert knowledge. read more

We recently bought a condo in San Diego with floor-to-celing windows, which of course get a lot of sun, and so we decided we could use more AC vents for the few hot days we need AC. We were a imaging a very complicated job, because one of the vents needed to be branched through a closet. We were delighted with the work that HI Tech Air did for us because their Service Technician (Chris) was able to figure out how to do it all with a minimum of change to the existing situation. The work was done very professionally and carefully, with attention to detail like getting things aligned cosmetically, so it really looked good in the end. At one point we actually asked him to redo something which we had asked for, but changed our minds quickly when we saw it, and he redid it for us with no problem. Afterwards he cleaned up very carefully. The work was excellent, the professional demeanor was very reassuring, and so we are just really happy that now we have extra vents! And with less fuss than we ever imagined!! read more

Our AC Unit kept tripping the breaker so I called this company because of a recommendation. They sent a service tech the same day which was Monday. Was told they would be here within a certain time but would give us a courtesy call. The technician arrived towards the end of the time frame with no courtesy call. He checked the unit and told us that he could not repair and that we would need a new unit. We were charged $150 but I had a $50 coupon. So it was $100 to just look at the unit. He explained that he would pass the information along and the company would call with a quote. So I followed up Monday afternoon and the office staff explained that the sales representative was out of the office and took my husbands email and said the quote would be sent the next day. On Tuesday I called due to receiving a text that a service technician would be arriving between 1-3. I was told it was a glitch. So I asked about the quote. The person on the phone explained that they were waiting for the vendor to call and they would email the quote Tuesday afternoon or first thing Wednesday morning. My husband finally called today(Thursday) and they finally sent the quote. Also explained that it would take 3-4 weeks before the unit would be built. None of this was explained up front. read more

I had Hi Tech evaluate our A/C unit. They told me their was a freon leak, the system needed cleaning and the total cost would be $1,300. I called for a second opinion. The second company cleaned and inspected the unit for $60. No leak was found and the freon level was normal. Beware of Hi Tech. read more
