Owner TJ showed up on time, and did great work. We reported to the Home Warranty Company a few days ago as, "not receiving cold air." TJ began on the outside, where the compressor is located. There, he found the unit was not receiving a signal from the thermostat; he also very quickly found a bad capacitor in the unit, and replaced same. Just a couple of minutes needed to verify the thermostat was not working. TJ was ready, willing and able to install the thermostat required by the warranty company, but instead he installed, as requested, the much better Honeywell thermostat we had already purchased. All went well. Good man. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. We were assigned to Pacific Coast Air through our American Home Shield/American Home Warranty claim, and unfortunately, the experience was awful before anyone even stepped foot in our home. TJ called on Tuesday to schedule our appointment for Thursday. The following day, while we were on vacation, I called to ask if there happened to be any Friday appointments available. I specifically told him I was not canceling and was simply checking to see if anything else had opened up. His response was, "No, my next appointment isn't until late next week. Are you going to cancel?" I again said no, I would make Thursday work. He abruptly replied, "Great, bye," and hung up. Our appointment window was between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Since we were staying about 45 minutes away with our two young children, I left a voicemail asking if he typically gave a courtesy call about 30 minutes before arriving, as many service companies do when they provide such a large arrival window. I wasn't asking for special treatment--I was simply trying to avoid sitting in a hot house for four hours with my kids. Instead, I received a seven-minute voicemail telling me he absolutely would not make that exception because he was too busy, that I had already taken up enough of his time by calling twice, and that he had many other customers to get to. He again suggested canceling and rescheduling. When I called him back to clarify that I wasn't trying to cancel and was only asking about a courtesy call, he became even more confrontational. He told me I hadn't listened to his voicemail, said he might call 15 minutes before arriving, but if I didn't answer immediately, he would still show up and leave if no one answered the door, canceling my appointment. At that point, I contacted American Home Warranty because I was genuinely concerned that after being threatened with cancellation multiple times, he might not even show up. I simply wanted my concerns documented. Shortly afterward, TJ called me and asked, "What's your problem? Why are you calling American Home Warranty?" I explained that he had been very difficult to work with and that I was concerned about whether my appointment would actually happen. His response was, "Your appointment's canceled," and he hung up on me. My husband called afterward to try to resolve the situation, and TJ insisted everything was my fault because I had complained before the service was even performed. I've never experienced customer service like this. I pay monthly for a home warranty plan, pay the service call fee on top of that, and this is the contractor that was assigned to us. We never even received service because the appointment was canceled after I raised legitimate concerns about his communication and professionalism. I cannot speak to the quality of his HVAC work because he never gave us the opportunity. However, based solely on the way we were treated, I would never recommend this company. read more

The tech the company sent to our house was incompetent. They sent someone out to our house who spent very little time and then passed us off to another company because our claim came through a home warranty. We had a different HVAC company come out an hour later who actually spent time to find and diagnose the issue. Based on other reviews Pacific Coast appears to work with home warranty companies to deny legitimate claims. Scummy practice. read more

Untrustworthy! He was my second tech that came out to look at my furnace, issued by the home warranty company. I am very glad that I had a local tech come out first because they took photos of certain parts of the unit for reference. Well TJ came out and claimed my issues were related to items that had missing parts (eg capacitor was not held by a bracket) and the claim was denied. Funny thing is I have photos from 3 days before his visit showing capacitors clearly mounted which conflict with the photos he showed me and sent to AHS of unmounted capacitors that likely caused motor issues. I had my original tech come in two days later and do the repair who provided me the original photos he took who also told me the brackets were removed and now missing. What an odd series of events to have occurred. The removed brackets weren't even left behind. I had a weird feeling about TJ when I first answered the door and he just started talking about all the reasons the home warranty company may not approve my claim. He also asked me before he went up if anyone had been up there recently, which i thought was odd and I didn't mention the first tech. Maybe I should have! read more

My landlord has some type of insurance for the AC unit. I requested someone come and check out the unit. She send me a tex "you will be getting a call for scheduling " I guy called and asked "what's your address " I asked who is this, "I need your address to schedule " I could not get a word in and asked if I could speak, I told him "I felt he was unprofessional, rude and had poor communication skills " he told me "I've been in business for 20 years" I hung up!! I called back, looking to talk with the owner, which he denied being one and told me he does scheduling. He went on to say "as a man, you prefer to tell be how you feel, waste time and not set up an appointment to fix your AC"? I Personally don't need to do business with people who can communicate respectfully and be so rude!! read more

These are the rudest contractors I've encountered. Even when calling to schedule an appointment, once they find out that it's for a home warranty claim they completely change their tune and treat you like second class citizens. Same experience in person with snarky comments and requests. I recommend that you treat all customers fairly. Just because you know the warranty will deny the claim doesn't mean that the customer does not need the problem resolved but no one will hire you to do it. Or just don't work with home warranty companies if you are tired of dealing with the customers they send. read more

Incredible high quality service! We have an older ac system and the pacific coast air team was able to find our problem and fix it; our thermostat was shot, furnace circuit board was fried, and the ac unit had a short. Pacific Coast Air was able to assess the problem and get it fixed for us. I would highly recommend this company, especially after working with a handful of other San Diego based heating and air company's over the past decade. read more

We had a service request place through our home warranty company and Pacific Coast Air was chosen to fix our A/C unit. I instructed the dispatcher to pass on to the repairmen what to look out for. A repairmen can out and stated he fixed the problem to my wife. Which later I found out wasn't done. The A/C still not blowing air through the vents. I will have to report them to my home warranty company not to recommend. read more

Pacific Coast air fixed what another HVAC company could not. Great communication, reliable, and knowledgeable and got the job done. What more can you ask for? Good honest guy and definitely recommended! read more

I was very worried about this company responding to my AHS claim after reading reviews on Yelp. Making the appointment was a hassle, they were delayed in calling me to set appointment. So I called them, took 4 calls to get an answer & 4 days out for soonest appointment. Thank God, TJ's performance was GREAT! He knew what was wrong with our AC unit as soon as he heard it running. He had a spare compressor in his truck and got us up and running quickly. He also checked the freon & rinsed off the coils. A few professionals. Thank you TJ! read more

THANK YOU, TJ (Pacific Coast Air), for honestly telling us the truth that the problem is only the capacitor, not the compressor as the previous two technicians stated. You made our day!!!! And thank you for being willing to come on Saturday to help us! TJ was incredibly responsive, went above and beyond to assist, and generously shared knowledge about things I wasn't aware of. Definitely go with TJ from Pacific Coast Air!!! read more

Know their stuff. Was able to replace my AC unit wall thermostat with one that would work for my unit. Fast and reliable.

Tigran was fantastic. He sent a quote on Yelp, then he showed up as promised. The replacement part for my heater was on backorder, but Tigran gave helpful advice and worked with us to find it elsewhere ASAP (weather's been cold!) He made time for us within a day and installed at a fair cost for labor. Efficient, dependable, knowledgable and reasonable. We are warmly grateful. read more

The technician was prompt and communicated his planned arrival time before hand. Upon arrival he explained what he was going to do for diagnosing our issue. Once this happened, a solution was recommended along with options. I chose to have the unit repaired. Parts were available on hand and the repair was done in a timely manner. TJ spent time answering several questions and was very clear in his explanations. Super happy with this service call and would highly recommend. read more

Zero stars if possible. Technician TJ is a bold-faced liar. Assigned by AHS, he came to our house to repair furnace. Our furnace has an ambient air issue where it won't come on if it is cold in attic. TJ shows up at around 4 PM and the furnace works. I explained issue to him and what the display light was doing on the furnace. One short followed by 4 long lights. This indicates an ignition problem with the furnace. TJ leaves since the furnace was operating while he was here and tells AHS that he fixed the furnace. He did not. He went into the attic, came down and talked about everything except the furnace for a half hour. He wouldn't leave. The he told AHS that he fixed the furnace. A lie. The furnace still did not work when it was cold in the attic. We requested a follow up visit and told AHS that the furnace still did not come on when it was cold. TJ came out again during the afternoon and of course the furnace worked because the attic was warm. He did not even come into our house and stood on our porch step and told me that he did not know how to fix the furnace and that he would bring in a technician from the manufacturer to help diagnose. Then he left and again told AHS that he fixed the furnace and it was working fine. ANOTHER LIE. He did not even come into our home and did not even try to figure out what was wrong with our furnace. No manufacturer technician was brought in to solve the issue either. LIAR. Absolutely horrible person and terrible customer service. He is happy to take AHS money and leave people without heat in their home. My wife and I are both retired military veterans and have health problems. Apparently, TJ does not care that he has lessened our quality of life through his cheating ways. I have contacted AHS and requested another contractor to come help fix our furnace. I had to pay a second time for the service visit. DO NOT USE Pacific Coast AC Inc., if you do not like stress and being lied to. Look at the other ratings on Yelp to confirm. We are not the first people this guy has scammed. It is now two weeks without heat thanks to TJ and Pacific Coast. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I will be posting on the BBB after this. read more

They are super fast, efficient and the technician was super informative and great. I asked a ton of questions about the air conditioning and how it works. The technician answered all my questions with great explanations so now I understand how it all works and what to look for. He diagnosed and solved the issue very quickly. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. They are the rudest people I have ever met. They were assigned to us by American Home Shield to fix our air conditioner. When I called to check on the status, the person who I believe is the owner was incredibly rude and disrespectful. He told me that I sounded like I was accusing him of not doing his job and that I can just go and buy the part myself. I tried to explain that I was not accusing him but simply wondering why it was taking longer than his original estimate and that we already paid for the service through AHS and would like the service complete. Approximately 1 week later he called my husband to set up a window period for him to finally fix our air conditioner. My husband spoke to him directly and said that the only time he would not be available was from 2-2:30pm. On the day of the appointment, he called me at 1:50pm and told me that he would be there in 15 minutes. I told him that my husband spoke to him directly and told him that he would not be home from 2-2:30pm. He was clearly agitated and told me that I was giving him no choice but to sit in front of our house until my husband comes home. I wish AHS would read these reviews since it looks like I am not the only one with this negative experience. read more
