I came here during a recent trip to visit my daughter in San Diego. She loves smoothies, and I love coffee, so Fruittitude seemed like it would be a happy place for both of us. They did not disappoint. We wound up coming here on two separate days, and tried the acai bowl, the pitaya bowl, the Mexican hot chocolate, their cappuccino, and their "mushroom coffee." The mushroom coffee was a pleasant surprise - we tried it on a whim, not really knowing what to expect, but it was actually quite delicious and had a creamy quality to it. I enjoyed my cappuccino, and my daughter said her hot chocolate had the perfect spice to sweetness ratio to it. The serving sizes were hefty for both the pitaya and acai bowls - these were definitely full meals, large portions with generous toppings and clearly quality ingredients. The staff clearly put a lot of time and care into making our orders. Possibly too much time, though? If I have one complaint, it is that it took an inordinate amount of time for them to get our orders out, even in giving them some leeway with possible phone and online orders. Let me just say - if you want a bomb acai bowl, this is your place!! They're generous portions, filling, worth the price, and delicious! It was hard to enjoy their acai bowl so much since I usually get them at Juice Kaboose, but the more acai bowl places the better right? I've also tried a couple of their smoothies, one being the greenspiration. The smoothies are good, and you can just taste the healthy! The service is mediocre. The first time I came I was really impressed with the service and cleanliness of the place (some people even study here!), but the second time not so much. Too bad bubbles for the milk tea weren't ready until 930 am hour and half after opening. Once I saw the server prep the acai bowl and smoothie I knew it was going to be good. Peeled fresh and put together elegantly, didn't rush it at all. Turned out to be very delicious, and the granola wasn't stale or rough. Smoothie perfectly sweet, can't complain. Overall this place has great drinks and has great potential to do really well. I ordered a frozen mango lemonade and my girlfriend got a smoothie which were prepared with fresh ingredients and were delicious. They could however make a few modifications to make the place flow more efficiently. I visited on a saturday afternoon and the place wasn't too busy, but they were really backed up on orders. There were a bunch of acai bowl orders which took pretty long to make and several other custlmers ahead of me were pretty irritated as well. There was one male employee who was working on the acai bowl orders and we didn't see another come out till a while afterward who started to work on our drink orders. A female employee came out to make our drinks, but I saw the male employee constantly brush his hair and touch his face and continued to work without waking his hands. I am basing my review on ONE fantastic drink that I am already craving again. My mom and I were strolling around on a hot day in La Jolla, and we needed a cool drink and somewhere with AC to cool down. So glad we chanced upon this place! I told the guy we were hot and wanted something cool and refreshing, and that I like strawberry. He suggested the Strawberry watermelon slush, and my life was forever changed. It was cool and refreshing kind of in the way that cold cucumber water is so relaxing. It wasn't overly sweet, but had enough flavor to make me want to keep sipping. I ended up getting the peanut butter acai bowl and I was pleasantly surprised by the portion size. I was surprised that they blend the peanut butter *into* the acai though? I didn't have much issue with it, because I could still taste it, but I personally like scooping a nice spoonful of peanutbutter with my fruit. I'm sure I could ask for that though! I had their Taro slush with normal boba, it was alright. I won't buy it again because it was not worth the price. The customer service was alright. The girl at the register didn't know how to answer most of my questions and her mask was under her nose. Anyways the taro was good but it was really Icey and milky if that makes sense? I tasted more icy milk than I did taro. The boba wasn't soft, almost like taffy. This place is lovely. I come here often to get work done, and appreciate that it opens early. I enjoy how bright and clean it is, how fresh it smells with all the fruits and veggies, and how the area is nice for taking a quick walk break around the block. There is free wifi and I've never had a problem with its quality. The owner, along with Natalia, Adam and Adrian who work there are all so nice and friendly! I've tried a lot of their food and drinks. I really like the fact that Fruittitude has boba drinks (can't think of any other place in the Village where one can find this - I love their taro and green tea boba slush), and that they carry milk oolong tea, which I usually need to get from a specialty tea shop. It is such a great pick me up during work for good energy and protein. They have sooo many options as well as add-ins like chia seeds, whey powder, coconut milk, and nuts. Also, they're HUGE and full of acai. They're not stingy with the fruit either. It's only around $7 too! At other posh health food type shindigs, it's half the size and double the price. I work in La Jolla and have passed this place before a couple of times (seeing as it opened up only recently) but never ventured to give it a try. I'm glad we did on this evening. The place was quiet and cozy. Nice, elegant decor paired with soft, pleasant music and friendly staff. I wanted to order Thai coffee, but unfortunately they did not have it on the menu. They did have, however, Thai tea, which we promptly ordered. My fiancee ordered hers half-sweet and I order a regular; both were excellent. We then ordered three of their mini desserts, seeing as they were having a Yelp discount of "buy two, get third free." Each of the desserts was delicious, making us wish they had each one of them in a non-mini serving! :-) Overall, this was a wonderful, hidden gem.
