Came here on a Saturday around 10am. We only waited about 18 minutes for a table for 2. Not bad for a Saturday morning in Franklin. We ordered coffee to go and walked around a little while we waited. I got the Turtle Latte. I thought it would be on the sweeter side but it wasn't. I didn't care for it very much but no big deal. We were seated upstairs in a quiet room which we liked. Someone came over and poured some water for us and then a little while later someone came to take our order. I ordered the Farmhouse breakfast and substituted fruit salad for the grits. They said they don't have potatoes anymore. When we got our food it looked good. My Farmhouse breakfast was okay. The eggs and toast were cold but tasted okay. The jam they serve with the toast was tasty. The best thing on my plate was the bacon. It was super yummy. My fruit salad had pineapple, grapes and cantaloupe. The grapes were bruised and overly soft. The cantaloupe was past its expiration. The pineapple was good. My boyfriend's sandwich was good he said. The potato soup he had with it wasn't good. He called it dirt soup so I didn't want to try it. Overall I'd say there are a lot of better options in Franklin. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either, hence the 3 stars. read more

Great coffee shop with excellent food options! It's rare that you find a restaurant with great coffee or an amazing coffee shop with delicious food. Frothy Monkey has both! There's a very nice patio to enjoy the warmer weather, that's great for conversation and people watching. I always use this place as a meet-up spot for friends and family who are out-of-towners. There's street parking available and also parking in the back that's very affordable if you can't find a spot out front. The service is great too. We came here on a Sunday morning around 9am and were able to easily get a table with no wait. Service was very friendly and prompt. I love the variety of specialty coffee drinks they have. I tried 2: the Turtle Latte and the Hansel & Gretel (gingerbread) Latte. Both were great, but I especially loved the gingerbread flavoring of the Hansel and Gretel (it was November 1, so officially Christmas season!). As for food I got the Farmer's Breakfast, a typical sampling of breakfast staples like toast, eggs, and meat. This Frothy Monkey has a great location just off Main Street in downtown Franklin, and they have very good coffee, good food, and generally friendly and helpful service. I'm normally a "black coffee" guy, but I've often tempted by some of the creative specialty coffee drinks they have at Frothy Monkey. My wife also loves the Golden Monkey, which features the flavor of turmeric. The food is good with quite a bit of variety on the menu. While I always think of a coffee shop as a breakfast place, they do serve lunch and dinner. Every time I've eaten at Frothy Monkey I've been perfectly happy with my food, but it is never so great that I seek it out. In other words, I go for the coffee first and foremost, which they do a great job with. The service is generally friendly and helpful, though sometimes a little slow. I feel Frothy Monkey is best when you want to chill with your coffee, not when you're in a rush. This is always a neat little coffee shop brunch place that my girlfriend & I like to visit in the Franklin area. We usually grab brunch & a coffee & spend some time studying afterwards. There's nothing super special about this place that stands out to me. The coffee is solid & the breakfast food we order is always delicious, yet pretty standard. Prices are average as well. It is hard to find places to sit sometimes as there is limited seating & it gets pretty insanely crowded at times. It's a solid place to grab brunch or catch up with a friend over coffee, but if you're looking for good food specifically, this isn't a bad choice but it's pretty standard in my opinion. read more

We were only in Nashville for two days and for those two days this is the only place we went for breakfast! The food is so fresh and leaves you feeling full in a great way. I had some of the best food and coffee in the longest time here. The inside is so charming and rustic. Not only that, the service is so amazing. Alvin was a great server and my table loved him. I was super hyped when I got there because it's such a cute spot and the vibes are amazing! I love how roomy it is (it's a converted house) and how it's a cafe/coffee shop, but sit down. The menu is also super well curated and inventive. However, the service wasn't good. We just wanted to sit down for a quick bite and coffee, and it took them around 30 minutes to deliver our one drink and two small plates. Very disappointing. The food was great though, but the iced coffee was unimpressive to me (despite how exciting it sounded on the menu). They also had to come back to our table twice in the process of making our food to let us know two of our orders were unavailable. Strange because it wasn't close to close. The meat was very dry, over cooked, definitely more bread then beef and not very flavorful. The potatoes were cold and tasted like that sat for a while! Just moved here and thought it would be nice to get a latte to go and enjoy a walk downtown. 30 minutes later I was still waiting for the latte. the waiting area is extremely cramped and the baristas (2) were backed up. I held my tongue when one person who ordered after me got their drink. Then a customer who was 3 people behind me complained and wanted a refund. The barista said, "you are just 3 tickets back, it won't be that long. So instead of making the drinks for the 3 people, which I was the next ticket up, they made the customer's 3 drinks right away. so instead of doing the right thing and making the next 3 tickets, they made those wait so they could make him happy. When I pointed out that I had waited patiently for a 1/2 hour for 1 drink and got bumped, their answer was "we are running behind". When she finally did give me my drink, as I was walking out, the barista said in a very sarcastic tone,"Have a good one!". I don't like to complain, but this is unacceptable. My partner stuck with her all time favorite, Golden Monkey. They're house made syrups and local ingredients really make a huge difference. This definitely seems to be the hot spot in Franklin for plugging in and working, eating some tasty grub, and sipping on some quality espresso all at the same time. It is the most spacious cafe I visited while in town, with the most parking options both through a parking lot and on street with no time limits. The staff were decently kind but definitely have that hipster pretentious vibe to them. Luckily I wore my black and white stripped shirt and 8 year old ripped up Converse so I fit in quite well, got my food in a fast manner, and so on. My friends on the other hand were brought their food a little later.. Coincidence? Totally joking all of it came out around the same time, no problems there. While things were a little on the pricier side for some pretty standard breakfast food options, I had the best deal of my Tennessee trip happen here when making the decision to buy the Day Old Cookies. OH MY GOSH THAT SNICKERDOODLE! If you want your life to be changed try this half baked goodness for half the price it normally runs for when purchasing from the Day Old bin.. You with thank me! The combinations of sweet and smooth, flavor packed yet subtle, and crunchy or half-baked is in this cookie. Chocolate chip is good as well! For my meal I had the Architect Omelette with a biscuit side and the Lemon on a Prayer espresso drink from the specials menu. The omelette was satisfying but not my favorite in the world as the sausage kind of tasted like chopped up, store bought hot dogs. If you do get the omelette I'd get bacon or any other meat choice besides the sausage. The biscuit was kind of dry and hard but extremely layered and filling. I only took a few bites as it didn't interest me enough for the calories it was full of. The Lemon on a Prayer was very earthy tasting but I actually really enjoyed the odd combo of espresso, lemon, and lavender. Check it out! Though I came here for a nice meal with friends in the Saturday AM, it can also be used as a wonderful working space upstairs or a bar spot to meet your friends at for Trivia. My first Frothy experience. I know! I've meant to head over to the 12 South location for years but I never got around to it. I am not much of a coffee drinker so I'm not compelled to try all the various shops in town. When the mood hits me, why not just keep it close to home, you know? But this morning found me in Franklin (due to some car issues; always fun) and since I had a few hours to kill, I figured that I would check out a coffee shop, get some work done and take in the local flavor. Inasmuch as possible, I was trying to lean in to the inconvenience. Looking around on my Yelp app, I thought Frothy would offer the best blend of breakfast, coffee, a work space, and a lack of offense for sitting in one spot for hours on end. First thing I noticed was that parking is tricky. Granted, I was here on a Monday morning, but I didn't find a place to park my car. Luckily, my Jedi mindtrick skills come in when they're best needed and I willed a guy to pull out of the spot I needed. If you don't have super powers, you might be doing some loops and/or hoofing it. Second thing I noticed, this was a 2-story pleasure. Awesome. The first floor is more social. You stay here to eat, laugh and do things you tend to do in groups. The second floor, I found, was more fit for solitary work on a laptop. There's a back room made for a large group but there are also two other large spaces upstairs that are dotted with two tops, perfect for getting some work done. Lest I be one of those guys who sips on a water and uses the free wifi, I ordered breakfast: the special and a coffee. Today's special was a garlic/kale hash with garlic, kale, potatoes, red onion, and two sunnyside eggs. The presentation was much more elegant than I was expecting. Once I cut into the eggs and mixed the yolk with the vegetables, I had quite a filling and healthy-ish way to fill my belly. I contemplated pairing this with a tea but my sweet tooth won out and I ordered a turtle latte: espresso, steamed milk, caramel, chocolate, and pecan syrup. Being a n00b, I didn't know to wait to get my coffee before I trucked upstairs. The kind young lady behind the counter brought both my drink and my plate to me. I felt like a jerk but she smiled and told me not to worry about it. As I sit here, writing this review and working on other things, the only ding I can think of is that there are a few uninvited winged guests in the upstairs space. I discovered the source, though, when I went outside on the upper deck to take a phone call: there are plants all around that need pollination. So, the price of an active ecosystem is some bugs buzzing your head. To be fair, however, this wouldn't be much of a problem if people didn't open the deck door and keep it open as they... contemplate life? Look outside? Burp? Who knows.
