We entered the restaurant through the hotel lobby/"train station", which was the only option on a rainy Sunday morning. Checked in around 9:40. Twenty minute wait for a table, which wasn't too bad, even though the restaurant appeared to be no more than half full. Borderline five-star experience, with a couple minor exceptions. First, our server was so soft spoken that we could barely hear her. (Either that or just extremely shy with zero personality). We were able to communicate well enough to get coffee and put an order in. An order that took a full 30 minutes to get to us. The food, once it arrived, was awesome. I had the monkey cristo. My friends had the biscuits with chorizo gravy and the farm breakfast, with bacon. All were five-star worthy. I understand the difficult situation facing restaurants today, but it is a pity that staffing is holding this one back from their full potential. read more

They offer a wide array of coffee, tea, and baked goods and I really appreciated their unique names I'm pretty sure you can't find anywhere else. I really enjoyed coming here. The coffee was delicious, which is the main thing I care about with a coffee shop. I had one of their seasonal drinks, called the Firebender, which was a latte with chile and orange. Beyond the nod to one of my favorite shows, it was a fantastic drink. The flavors paired well with the flavor of the espresso itself, and the milk was perfectly foamed. I was a little disappointed in myself for not getting a larger size so that I could have more! I also had their Lemon Blueberry Scone, which was pretty good. It wasn't overly sweet, especially when paired with the coffee, and fruit flavors balanced one another well. It had a nice crumb, too, and held its shape well as I ate it. My only (minor) complaint was that the service was a little slow. We came during a non-peak time, and it took more than 15 min for our full order (which included non-pastry food) to come out. But, since that's generally the pace of things in Chattanooga, it's not much of an issue. read more

The service was a touchdown, the food was an embarrassing fumble. Three of Our party got the eggs, meat, toast and Gouda grits and they were the lucky ones even though their grits arrived cold and congealed. The server quickly replaced them with hot grits and they enjoyed their breakfasts. I got an everything bagel with cheddar, scrambled eggs and bacon. The eggs were cold and tasteless and the cheddar was bland. The bacon was almost nonexistent-a complete disappointment. I asked for mayonnaise to try to give it some flavor and richness-it needs a condiment to up its game. They only had pesto mayo which did not do the trick. The worst was the Cali toast. There was barely a smear of avocado, only one whole egg and then some egg white-and no mozzarella. The bread was so tough that my sister had to fight it to get a piece into her mouth. The menu needs to be tasted and tweaked. The building is beautiful, being an old train station. Unfortunately, the seating is very uncomfortable and hard. Located next to the Chattanooga Choo Choo, this is a great place for a yummy breakfast and well-frothed lattes. My favorite is the Broadbent Omelette and a Havana Latte. Nice place, and we've been a few times before. Coffee is always really good, especially the house lattes and mocha. ....However. Nobody wants to eat out of a plastic clamshell to-go container when staying at a restaurant. Especially one that is trying to be upscale. And for emphasizing the number of farms they source from, one would think they would be more astute not to use single-use plastics. Also, the cold brew I ordered was $3.50, which is no problem. But $3.25 for creamer? I asked for cream and sugar (like everyone does), and on the receipt, there's a charge of $3.25 for "heavy cream." (Which I didn't see on the menu as an extra) That's ridiculous. Simply stupid that creamer is the cost of another coffee. Overall, we will likely pass in the future, sorry. read more

My wife and I stumbled into her honestly by accident as we had plans to go to Stir right next door however, after being told there was an hour and a half wait we decided to walk around till we found somewhere else(we already paid for parking..) We walked in and we're immediately greeted and seated at a table in what's a very cool atmosphere with very high ceilings and spacious seating. Our drinks were amazing and I got a Razeberry Sour that was truly delicious. Our meal came out perfectly timed first with the beautiful charcuterie board arranged with lovely cheeses and pickled okra. The main courses were great portions and very flavorful! I tasted a little bit of everyone's dish and I would've been happy with any of them. Totally great place and cannot recommend enough! Stopped in for a quick to go breakfast today. Tables were limited as social distance requires, so we decided to stand in line and order at the bar. Everything was fine, just not amazing. Frothy Monkey has a location here at the Chattanooga Choo Choo and I have also seen a location in Nashville. This location is really large and it is a very nice space and in fact it is probably the largest and nicest space I have ever seen a coffee shop get so lucky to be in. They also serve food and dessert treats here so really this is more of a cafe than just a mere coffee shop. This establishment was also quite crowded with folks during my visit and it seemed to have the most going on of anything else in the Choo Choo area during my daylight visit to the area. read more

Finally made a trip to the Frothy Monkey and I will most definitely return. The food is absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, they were out of the pasta dish I wanted so I tried the Gail salad with tofu instead of grilled chicken. It was delicious. I've heard the Frothy Monkey is known for their coffee. How can you go there and not see if that's factually correct? I ordered the hummingbird with oat milk and iced. The perfect blend of coffee. As for the atmosphere, the outside seating is perfect for a nice fall night. The twinkle lights add a little magic to the moment. And since we are still dealing with covid, I give the staff 5 stars for cleanliness and mask compliance. Great experience overall. read more

Stopped in for a quick bite on our way out. I got an iced mocha which was one of the better I've had, husband got an orange juice, which was bottled and overpriced. It was nearly as expensive as the coffee - Don't come here if you're on a budget. We just ordered some pastries, which were warmed up for us. They were both great. Very beautiful place to walk into. Not kid friendly. I am autistic and we suspect my son is too. He has a hard time out in public so I never take him to places like this just out of respect for other patrons and the business itself. We live in Georgia and came out to the zoo for a family day, my mother in law badly wanted to come here so despite my better judgement we stopped in to grab a drink. My son ran to an open booth and so my husband and I waited with him to try to keep him content and quiet instead of running a much or screaming and crying. I understand this is a restaurant. I understand the rules of a restaurant. I just wanted to make it in and out without a meltdown and my anxiety was already at an all time high having him in such a nice place. We were not making ourselves comfortable by any means. My 2 year old was just sitting there. This brunette waitress came over and asked with an attitude if we were eating in, I explained my in laws were just ordering drinks and we would leave. She reiterated that this is a full service table and she would have to- I cut her off to repeat that we would be leaving soon. There wasn't a line or people waiting for a table. Again, I understand this is a restaurant, but jeez. Can we just try to have a little compassion? This was just a very quick encounter and it was just so embarrassing and upsetting. It wasn't what she said but how she said it. My son proceeded to cry and scream as I picked him up and carried him out. This is a great place I'm sure for nuero typical people, as for someone like me who would typically stay away from someplace like this, this was a good reminder as to why I feel that way. read more

I just love this place located inside the Chattanooga Choo Choo! They always have great attentive service, great coffee, yummy treats, good healthy entrees and the atmosphere that is so relaxing on a weekend morning. I have been there also when business is really hopping, so full of life and activity! It's wonderful! I don't usually give many five star ratings, they definitely get theirs! There is a parkade on property. There is street parking at meters and a few places that you can actually park are not metered but they are little bit of a walk if you don't mind walking. read more

Well I stopped coming here and was reminded why after returning today.. The staff is pretentious and extremely unhelpful.. We were told to order at the counter and sit upstairs.. there was no seating upstairs.. after we were finally sat my order came up "to go" because apparently people "break plates around here and it's dangerous.." so strange. I carried my own food upstairs in its to go container while my other 3 friends waited for over 30 minutes for their meals and one meal was completely incorrect for my friend with food allergies and intolerance.. needless to say she did not eat her food. The service was awful. You can only dine-in with a waiter or order to-go and leave. When I go to a coffee shop, I'm used to ordering my coffee and sitting wherever I want. The hostess was so rude and mean and made us move to another seat when we tried to seat ourselves within COVID guidelines, away from others. Been going here regularly for the past nine months now, and has quickly become by go-to coffee place. I work around the corner from the hotel and it is very convenient to stop here for an hour and finish up personal projects before going to work, which is made perfect by how quiet and calming it is in the afternoon. The coffee is amazing, and the food is very good. Clearly the people who make these beverages and food know their stuff. Side note: this is one of the few places that I actually have enjoyed a black bean burger at. But the staff are all by far one of the best parts of this place. Huge shoutout to Chuck, Natalie, Kaelyn, Viv, and Madison, who have all taken the time to learn my name and make small talk with me whenever I come in. The coffee was good, however; the service has been subpar. They had no pastries, no soup, no chai. I was unable to order the Avo toast, so I'm not sure if they're out of sourdough or avocado. Service was very slow. The grits were cold and clumpy by the time they got to me. The inside of the garden omelet was mushy and watery. The restaurant itself is really pretty, but I wouldn't recommend coming here unless you just want a cup of coffee. The best part of the experience was the train station it's attached to. read more

I was torn between the salmon sandwich and the chicken gnocchi, but the waiter had already suggested the chicken gnocchi so I decided to go with that. After a 7.5 hour drive, I was really hungry and very excited once the food came out. The pesto on the gnocchi wasn't overpowering and had good flavor, but it was more on the oily side. The chicken on top was delicious and had some lovely melted cheese on it. Most of my pieces of gnocchi had a lot of the pesto on it, but a few bites didn't and the gnocchi didn't taste great alone. This is a cute little place on the north side by the Chattanooga chuchu. Lunch here was very good and the service was better than expected. Parking was available throughout the immediate area and possibly a short walk away. There were four of us. We were seated quickly on a weekend during bunch. (I think we were lucky). Anyway, everything looked so good, I would have waited 30 mins. LOL. The menu was interesting. We had the Farm breakfast, the California, the Bob and my favorite, Architect Omelet. 2 eggs, meat, cheese, veggie and a jam to die for. Just a simple meal that was really awesome. The Bob pancake was nice and big. The California and Farm were really nice and well prepared. You can't go wrong with any of the items on the menu. I highly recommend this place.
