Great little shop. Yeah, it's $24 for a guy's cut, but it's worth the $24 here versus the $15 I used to spend at a barber shop down the street, and the $50+ that another nearby salon was charging. Don't bother making an appointment. I waited for 40 minutes. The lady who washed my hair was eating some chinese food that stank the entire salon, while I was waiting. After she finished her lunch proceeded to wash my hair in their super-low-neck-braking chair (I'm a tall guy). Any attempt to stand up meant a push down. I'm not into S&M honey. Then the girl cutting my hair was also into the sadistic side of things. I had to ask her to be gentle with the comb, maybe I reminded her of her dog or something... she was really hurting me. Then she tries to sell me the magic gel that "I'll never find out anywhere else in the planet". I guess they must have a basement workshop. I went to this place because some others had spoken well f it here. So, I ventured in, and took the leap. They shampooed my hair, and then I got my hair cut by Eileen. She said it was going to take only 10 minutes, but it took her more like 30! She didn't seem to have any inspired ideas, and in the end it was getting so annoying I just decided to leave, However, I felt she'd tried, so I thought I'd give her a $5 tip. Also, I planned to tip the shampooist. While I was having my hair cut, my wife was talking to the shampooist and another guy who appeared to work there, though his role wasn't clear. At some point, during this long ideal, he offered to go get coffee for everyone. However , everyone apparently excluded my wife and I. The final shock came when they were finally finished. I asked the price and she said $30. I said I was surprised by that, since it said on Yelp that their fee was $25. She mumbled something and then came up with a story about how that was a special, So I paid the $30 and forgot about the tip. If I had tipped, it would have just been for effort, not because she'd given me a great haircut or anything. I certainly won;t be going back there. I used to get my hair cut for $15 on Kings Highway. Now I'll go back there. My wife also will not be going there to get her hair cut and colored, like she would have if they'd treated me decently. read more

I had a great experience here. My stylist colored my hair exactly how I wanted it, and was very attentive to my needs. I had a yelp coupon and they already received the email, and did not require a print out. My deal was $50 for $75, and my services came to $80, and they didn't charge me the extra $5. Yesterday was my first time there, so I'm not giving it 5 stars until I go back a few times so I know it's consistent, but this is was great. I needed a last minute haircut, and no salons are open on Monday's in Park Slope, it seems. This place ended up being a lot cheaper than my normal salon, but NOTE they did charge me $30 (for a men's haircut), which is more than the $25 I've seen floated around here. Sebastian cut my hair, and he did a great job. My hair isn't the easiest to deal with, but he was unfazed. I'll definitely be going back to give it another try. I found this place online after searching for a place to get my 2 year olds haircut. The website advertises that kids cuts are $30, but $25 on Monday's. I called to see if I should schedule a Monday appt or could just walk in. The woman who answered the phone told me they're closed on mondays. I asked then which day there was a deal on kids cuts, and she said there is no deal, the cuts are $35. When I pointed out that all of that information isn't consistent with the website, she said maybe I had the wrong website (no- that's where I got the phone number) and said she was too busy with a client to deal with me on the phone. Horrible place, they actually gave me a hair treatment different then what I originally asked for, my hair is frizzy and all broken from the "treatment", I will have to wait months until it goes back to normal and I can have it fixed someplace else. Got a great cut today from Nicole. She and I talked a little about what I wanted and then she gave me the cut. This is one clean cut, no chunks missing, no uneven trims, everything shaped very well. I got the cut for $20 which might be the slow monday special. Even at $24, which seems to be the normal price, this cut is worth it. I've lived in Park Slope a little over a year, and had to find a new local place to get my haircut. After paying $65 for a really good one...once, I went through a couple mediocre spots before finding From Head to Toe. I gave Mary a few considerations for my hair but she's a total professional and perfected the cut quickly, while chatting the whole way. I've been to two other stylists there that were also great and don't see why I'll be going anywhere else anytime soon. I had just had a horrible bang trim at badlands and ended up at head to toe hoping for a good eyebrow wax. I confessed my disappointment to Mary and Jocelyn and they hooked me up! Location - South Slope, Brooklyn The worst $150 I have spent. Their Groupon keratin treatment is a scam and I would rather burn my money the next time than go to them. It all starts with a $99 Groupon purchase. Then you pay $25 for every two inches. So even if your hair is 2.5 inches beyond should length, you pay $50 more. But you don't mind because you expect a good result considering you are paying more. Then you are promised "beautiful, silky" hair. If your stylist is Lauren, she will refer to everything about you as "beautiful". So much that the term has lost its meaning to me. The promised "beautiful" hair probably don't mean anything because there is no result guaranteed unless you purchase the conditioner and the shampoo from their salon. I recommend that if you make the god forsaken mistake of getting a keratin treatment from them, then you do purchase the conditioner and shampoo from them, so that when you get zero results after your wash, you can go back to them. I made the mistake and they told me that I was lying about washing my hair with their recommended shampoo. Obviously I am crazy that I would spend all that money on my hair and then not purchase a $40 set to maintain it. They then accused me of buying a cheap, Chinese rip-off shampoo-conditioner set instead of the original one. Every time I tired to tell them that I had been getting the treatments for a while now and I knew the whole regime, they interrupted me and said that they couldn't take me for my word. The whole experience made me feel stupid but I feel sorry for them, that they are capable of providing such a substandard service! read more

While giving me hair treatment, Lauren went away for 30 mins on a stroll. When she returned she kept licking on a lollipop which she held in one hand while giving me the worst customer service and hair treatment with the other. THIS PLACE LEFT BLISTERS AND OPEN WOUNDS ON MY SCALP-DO NOT GO AT ALL COSTS. I NEVER write reviews but this was necessary for the health and interest of any woman looking to get their hair done. I came in with ombre hair, which means that 3/4 of my hair was already a golden blonde. I asked to go completely blonde and Mary the colorist with "23 years of experience" agreed to do it. She needed to put bleach on my hair which was completely understandable but shortly thereafter my hair was turning yellow. Mary panicked and continued to put toner and various colors/chemicals on my hair for 3+ HOURS. While completely frying my hair mind you she decided to tell me that she didn't like how long my hair was, how much of a job it was for her to turn my hair blonde and along with her assistant consistently push various treatments and products on me in the meantime. Her assistant mind you was doing half of these various dye jobs on me while Mary handled other clients. I told them multiple times that my scalp hurt and as a professional they both should have recognized that they should have NEVER used 6-7 toners on my scalp/hair after bleach. That is unheard of. It's a miracle I am not bald right now. After SEVERAL hours and being continuously updated by Mary of what a pain in the ass my request was to her my hair ended up RED at the roots, WHITE in the middle and BLUE at the end of my hair. I was a walking American Flag. She told me this was the best it was going to get and dismissed me. I paid just to get out of there and when I woke up in the morning 1/3 of my hair had fallen out, my scalp was COVERED in open sores and completely burned red in addition to my neck and ears where they had sloppily let colors and bleach land while coloring my hair. I called first thing in the morning at first being respectful and thanking them for their efforts but demanding a refund because I don't know how much the cost of repairing my hair will be in addition to any type of medical action I might need to take for my scalp and Mary being the maniac that she was completely attacked me over the phone screaming that the cost of chemicals she used on my hair cost double of what I paid and refused to refund. Unfortunately I am an adult and don't waste my time or energy with temper tantrums so I hung up on her and began looking into other salons that could fix my hair. The new salon not only fixed my hair but they did it in 40 MINUTES. This place will cost you double the money in the long run if you go and completely destroy your hair 100%. This place is garbage. The women who work there leave the door open while they all smoke cigarettes outside so the entire place reeks of smoke. One time I went there and it smelled like they had all been smoking inside. It was filled with visible smoke. They used to have a girl who was great with eyebrows(why I went). She quit and I kept going out of convenience. Once the owner/manager did my brows. Totally uneven no shape. That time she made me wait 10 minutes while she fought on the phone with bill collectors, should have stopped going then. Went back one more time. I have never in my life encountered a more outrageous customer service experience. I called to schedule an appointment for a straightening service I saw on Groupon. The woman I spoke with on the phone, Crystal, told me that my service came with a free trim. When I got to the location, the owner, Mary, rudely scoffed and rolled her eyes at the price I was quoted, told me my "free" trim would be $50 and said: "Crystal is not the boss, I am" and "Crystal is not here." Mary also refused to even look my way as she was barking at me; she was coloring another woman's hair even though we had an appointment scheduled at that time. OMG. It was worst experience ever. I called 2 weeks advance to make appointment. I came 10 minutes before my appointment and Lady named Mary told me that I have to wait. I was waiting for 1 hour. Are you serious! 1 hour wait, because they mess up with appointment time. After 1 hour waiting, they washed my heir and put me under heir drying machine. The air was so cold that I asked them if they can dry my heir with regular hairdryer. They told me that they are busy and I have to wait. After 20 minutes waiting to dry my heir they finally start taking care of me. After all of that they charged me $200 more. I am doing Keratin all the time, and regular price is around $200 (I have heir till my shoulder). I told them that it should be cheaper maximum 50 more dollars ($25 for every 2-inches past shoulder length hair). Mary looked at me and she said that I should be happy because it is Halloween day and they are very busy and she did very good job. SO RUDE AND UNPROFESIONAL!!! By the chance she did VERY BAD JOB!!! So your looking for a review for Head to Toe? Well look no further. I will start out with; Knowledgeable, Friendly, Sincere, Accommodating and their only objective is to satisfy the client. I had messaged multiple salons in this neighborhood to receive information regarding my needs and wants. Nicole was the first and only response at first, see this is Brooklyn and "we want, what we want, when we want it". Can you feel me? Well needless to say the Women of Head to Toe, Mary the Proprietor and her lovely staff of ladies, Deane, Nancy and Nicole jumped through hoops for me. They made me feel comfortable from the very start. They listened to my requests and made proper suggestions for fulfilling my intentions. When the task was complete and not until I was satisfied with the finished coloring process that my experience began to take a new turn. I left the salon feeling I had accomplished what I had set out to do but while back at home I had later realized that, I in fact needed a different result. I immediately called the Salon and explained my concerns. Mary was totally attentive to my questions and said to me, that my "complete satisfaction" was her only concern. She suggested that I come back into the Salon as soon as they opened the next day and she would do whatever it takes to make me 100% satisfied. Mary and the women in fact made me feel like I was the most important person in her Salon. They went above and beyond their call of duty for me. Not only was the price I was quoted, the price I paid, but the 2 1/2 hours I was there the next day to make me happy was performed with no extra expense. I thought I was going to in cure further expenses but Mary made it perfectly clear that was not the case. I am a person who believes in doing the right thing no matter what and so is Head to Toe. I never take the time to write a review for anything but this experience compelled me to do so. So if your reading this looking for a service they provide, then look no further. 5 Stars doesn't begin to tell the story but hopefully I have. You will be more than happy you found Head to Toe and they will make you feel part of their family. So in conclusion whether your a Park Slope lifer or new to the hood, you have found a place where everybody knows your name. Cheers and be well. I went here not to do my hair but to see Jodi. Jodi is new here and does facials. And to be 100% honest I must say I don't think I'll ever need to go on a hunt for someone to help me in my skin journey. Jodi was phenomenal, she's everything you'd want in a skin specialist. She's professional, detail oriented, and really takes her time in everything she does. The whole experience from the moment I stepped in to the moment I stepped out- phenomenal. She had me fill out a questionnaire to be able to cater to my skin needs, instead of just making an assumption as to what I need and giving me a generic cleansing, exfoliating, then mask. She told me step by step what she was doing so I wasn't lost during the process. She's exactly what Parkslope needed, since the only other facial place is across the street which I don't recommend. I will continue to see Jodi, and recommend anyone of any age to go and at very least get the groupon special which is a basic facial, and consultation. I also came back to utilize the promo on groupon for the 99$ keratin treatment. I saw a low of complaints on the fine print stating 25$ per every 2 additional inches below the shoulders- which is reasonable if you ask me. William did my hair and he was very sweet and professional. He took his time taking care of my hair and was not pushy with getting me to do other services- only have genuine advice for the integrity of my hair and how to maintain it. based on the reviews below, i went to from head to toe this morning looking for a good inexpensive men's cut. first, the inexpensive haircut is no longer. the base price is $40. second, the quality of the cut was not good. dull scissors (that snapped my head back three times) and a sloppy and uneven neck & around the ear cleanup. is it better than a $15 cut on 5th Avenue? slightly. but if you're willing to pay $40, go to Dvir Salon on Bond Street where you get a wash, a great cut and all the other amenities. read more

I go to this salon for a hair cut and style on a regular basis because they are so good. If you tell them what you want, you get it. They do have some suggestions, but if you do not want what they propose, they will not do it. If you show them a picture of a hair cut, you will get just what the picture looks like. They listen, they try and they succeed. I love this place because despite my difficult hair Mary has cut it in ways that always look great, and I've gotten at least 3 different hair cuts with her. She is sincere when you ask for her opinion and you can tell that she cares about helping you and making you happy and wants you to leave feeling satisfied. The owner of this salon really listens and cares about pleasing the customer. She colored my hair 3 times. The first time it came out perfect and I was soooo pleased since it is hard to get haircolor just right. The next time it came out too red and I wasn't very happy with it but when I went back the next day she cheerfully, no problem, went to work and fixed it - no extra charge. The third time the same thing happened and I was worried I would get a reputation for being difficult or too picky but nope, she did it over. Each time she took careful notes so as to do everything the same and I know she did but it didn't react the same way. I can't explain what the problem was, but I can say she is definitely willing to stand by her work and do her best to get you what you want. I also take my son there for haircuts because he trusts her not to cut it too short and to respect his wishes more than mine. he won't get his hair cut anyplace else. It is not the cheapest place you can find but for Park Slope it is pretty reasonable. For some reason i always find parking within a block or two which is GREAT for no-Park Slope. read more

Wow, okay, so this was one of the worst experiences I've had in a salon. First of all, the woman who did my hair, Mary, was eating french fries when I walked in for my appointment, and seemed annoyed that she had to stop. Much to my shock and horror, she didn't even wash her hands before touching my hair. She remembered nothing of the lengthy convo we had about a week prior about my hair, so we had to have the whole convo again. She sped through dying my roots, and immediately ran back to her food. Then, she tells the underage/unlicensed shampoo girl to do my blowout because another patron walked in for a process. Halfway through the blowout she interrupts to finish the job, which was probably because she saw the appauled look on my face. I can not express enough how violent she was with my head. I have never been in such pain from a blow out before. I said "ouch" a few times, but she didn't let up, which led me to believe that it was intentional. When she got to the top of my head, I noticed that many of my roots had not even been dyed, and when I pointed it out, her response was "Oh no honey, that just looks like that because it's still wet." It was at this point that I gave up. In our initial convo, she told me it wouldn't take more than an hour, but i was there for OVER three hours. She also told me that the cut, dye, and blowout would cost $100 in total, and that she'd throw in a free glaze, but it ended up being $120. I went to this place because I'm in grad school and very short on cash, but this will end up costing double, because now I have to go get my roots done properly. Worst experience ever. First, its obvious the previous post from Janelle G. is a posting from one of the stylist pretending to be a customer, which shows how shady this salon is (with your one post). I've been to this salon before through a Groupon deal that advertises keratin treatment for $100 dollars. For this visit I had significantly shorter hair so I was completely suprised when I received a bill for $100 more, especially since I confirmed the price with them over the phone, before I came in, and they have the posting on Groupon and a huge sign in the window advertising the price. When I asked my hairdresser to explain the bill, she immediately got defensive and said they charge $25 more for each inch past the earlobe (the posting says past shoulders, I have shoulder length hair). When I expressed my dismay at the sudden price change and I was going to write a review on yelp another stylist decided to chime in "if I didn't like it I could get the FUCK out". I told them I wouldn't pay $200 for an out-of-the-way salon who's stylists need to take cigarette breaks every ten minutes and curse at me when I ask them to itemize the bill. The stylist then said I was a "dumb bitch who didn't know how to read Groupon correctly" to which I replied I've been to school, I know how to read do you". They all continued to curse and insult me while I was paying my bill. Its obvious this is their scam, to jack the price up after you receive the services with some bogus excuse. I had no problem paying the money, I had a problem with the false advertisement and them getting belligerent when I tried to ask about the bill. "Janelle" also forgot to mention I paid the bill even while the three miserable hags were berating me. If you want to spend your money at a salon with confrontational, argumentative stylist who have no concept of customer service and spend every ten minutes sucking on a cigarette this is the place for you.
