My girls and I went for ladies night on Thursday and that was the best $30 I ever spent! The waitresses were great, ambiance nice and the food and drinks were too good! I got a few of the expresso martinis and a few orders of the oysters. Everything was tasty! My girls loved everything too! I will be back!

Pretty restaurant but sucky service. Took an hour for our drinks to come to the table. We were missing an appetizer and 2 of the 2 people in my party never received their entree. They gave us plastic utensils. Just a mess. I love supporting my people but would never come back here for dinner. Maybe a drink by the bar and that's a strong maybe. I ordered the brussel sprouts- crispy and tasty. Definitely recommend. The lamb chops were nothing special. If you like bland fatty chops then these are for you.

Very berry French toast

This was my second time visiting Frnds. The first time I came in the evening, but this time I stopped by for brunch. I ordered the Very Very French Toast with sausage and eggs. The French toast was $10, which I thought was a fair price for brunch, and the total for my meal came to about $21 which seems pretty cost-effective overall. However, the drinks were outrageous, $20 each and mostly filled with ice. My boyfriend ordered the exact same thing, and our total bill came out to $105. I honestly don't think we ate or drank that much to justify the price, though I can't say I'm completely surprised. Also, gratuity is automatically added to the bill. Not sure if I'll be back.

Love love this concept. Cute restaurant to vibe out. The parking was super easy as I found street parking right across from the restaurant. They have a huge bar and lots of seating inside. Happy hour is from 4-7p and they have a pretty decent selection of items to choose from. The brussel sprouts had a good char and honey to them. The sauce isnt needed, thats how good they were. Okay, and since Im trying to revert back to pescatarian, I tried the lobster risotto. It did not disappoint! Huge chunks of lobster, they didnt skimp on it at all. Our waitress came around and asked if we wanted anything else before happy hour ended. It was very mindful of her. Immaculate vibes, nice music and it wasnt very loud. I would definitely revisit.

frnds! how many us of have them?! wow! i finally made it to girls night thursdays at frnds. it's advertised as $2 oysters and $2 martinis. frnds is located in west u/rice village along the strip where urban outfitter's used to reside and across from lululemon. i arrived around 5:30 for happy hour and it was maybe four other tables inside. we were greeted by the hostess and walked over to a table. i love the layout and color scheme. i sat in the chair and hated it. only because in order to be comfortable i had to position my legs to the outside of the table. nevertheless, i was comfy. the happy hour menu has a nice food and drink selection. we ordered the flight because my friend wanted tequila in her martinis and i ordered an extra dirty martini with three olives. the lychee martini was very good. the watermelon was overly sweet. i ordered an extra dirty martini with 3 olives but they were out of olives. the martini was poured nicely and tasted great even without the olives. the hookah service was exceptional as well. he was able to describe the different flavors and even advised what to do in case we didn't like what we chose. it's a separate service so he took payment directly. our server (i can't remember her name but she had curly hair, long brown tapered square nails and glasses) was very attentive and made sure to check on us as she walked by to her other tables. later in the evening it began to become a little busier. we ordered raw & chargrilled oysters, chicken tenders, french fries, african jollof rice bowl and crab fingers to share for the table. i'm moreso of an east coast oyster girl but i enjoyed the chargrilled. there were also good but my preference is east coast. the chicken tenders were well seasoned as well as the fries. although crab fingers are listed under shareables, i don't recommend sharing you receive (5) crab fingers in a bowl with a remoulade sauce at the bottom. it's definitely not papadeaux crab fingers however they were rich in flavor and the sauce was amazing. the star of happy hour was the african jollof bowl. the rice was cooked perfectly with a nice suya spice. the bowl was topped with two different proteins and sliced plantains. i could've eaten another one of those myself. our total bill came to about $55 dollars each with gratuity included. i'm glad i finally was able to try girls night out at frnds.

Over cooked oysters and not so good deviled eggs.

Food is low rate but expensive. We waited 36 minutes to get our order taken. We sent oysters back because they were over cooked and chewy af. Deviled eggs needs dill flavor. Hot sauce over power the Deviled eggs. Brussel spouts were the only thing I would say was good. My friend and I are in our 40s and we were pretty much ignored for college kids coming in.

I came here with a friend right after a Solidcore class (lol, don't judge us). On a Monday evening, it wasn't busy, so we were seated without reservations. We were honestly there for the hookah (which didn't disappoint), so I only ordered a lemon drop martini with some deviled eggs which were actually both delicious, so I will be coming back to try some more food from their menu. The service was great as we had a lot of banter with our server. And the entire restaurant was such a vibe with great music playing! Definitely a great spot for a girls night or a date night :)

Came here to try their new brunch menu. I got the honey butter biscuits & deviled eggs as appetizers. The honey butter wasn't really sweet so I ate the biscuits alone, which were pretty good. They forgot to give us utensils so we had to wait a while before we could find our waiter to let her know. I had the jerk lamb chop and eggs as my entrée and as someone who loves jerk anything these didn't taste like jerk sauce, but overall they were still good and flavorful. It came with eggs and potatoes which weren't really hot. My friend got the steak and eggs and she also said her food was lukewarm. For drinks I got the snatched piña colada, which was a 10/10 & I also got the ocean water drink, which was good too. The ambiance is really pretty if you're looking to get nice pictures & there's free parking, which is nice but overall I'd it's a pretty place & food was good but didn't necessarily give us that "omg we need to come back" feeling.

Happy hour menu

I came for happy hour in a group. We sat in of the booths, and it was pretty comfy and spacious for 6'7 people. The small bites were very good, and the potatoe croquets were my favorite. Very well seasoned and the perfect texture. Service was okay, but a little slow. I ordered an old fashioned outside of happy hour and it was $26. Not sure I would come back outside of happy hour.

Appetizers: deviled eggs & dumplins

My friend & I arrived during the later half of happy hour. Seated quickly since it was just us 2 & we rsvp'd prior. Booth was roomy & comfy. The hostess took some time to come take out order but when she arrived, she stayed on top of it after that, which was appreciated because happy hour was ending soon. All the food/appetizers we tried were really good. Will most likely be back when are in town again & try more.

Came here for a happy hour on a Monday afternoon. It was relatively busy with a few scattered groups of two or three and at least two large parties of five or more during the three hours we were there. We sat at one of their table seatings in the middle of the restaurant, which was easy to chat even though the spacing is a bit more than I expected, so I found myself having to sit on the edge of the tufted seat to eat or hear my companion really well. The music was relaxing and at a comfortable volume that we were able to sit for hours and talk and still have our voices after. The happy hour menu is reasonably priced, although I think the pot stickers could come down slightly given that you only get three. We tried the beef and chicken potstickers - I preferred the beef because I also liked the accompanying sauce. The shrimp deviled eggs were a nice surprise-so good in fact, we ordered a second batch. The brussel sprouts were crispy and not too salty or soggy. I appreciate that despite it being a known happy hour spot, they had spirit-free drink options, and I enjoyed the "Thicker Than Water" strawberry mojito. This is a great spot and welcome happy hour space in Rice Village. I wish it had been here when I used to frequent the area more.

Came for food and drinks with some friends late Friday. We all ordered a variety of shareable! I really liked the brussel sprouts, and the green beans. Service and food was good and the ambiance is always cool. DJ played a good variety would definitely be back

Our server, Camille, took our order and then would disappear for 30+ minutes at a time. At one point, when we asked where she had been, she simply said she was "walking around." Her overall approach to serving us felt extremely nonchalant and inattentive. The atmosphere also made us feel as though the level of attention you receive depends on how much you're spending--particularly whether you're purchasing bottles. The servers seemed more focused on creating a bottle-service experience than providing attentive restaurant service. It gave the evening a very transactional, "pay for attention" feeling rather than genuine hospitality. What really sealed the experience for us happened after we had already paid our bill. A host approached our table and essentially said, "Can you leave now? We need to seat someone right now." There was no gracious transition, no "thank you for dining with us," and no polite explanation--just an abrupt request to leave. For a restaurant with such a beautiful ambiance and good food, the service and hospitality were incredibly disappointing. Guests should feel welcomed and valued from the moment they sit down until the moment they leave, regardless of whether they're ordering bottles.

The origami ceiling, lively bar, friendly staff, unique cocktails, fun bathroom, and photo booth in the corner made for an unforgettable experience. My friend said it was the busiest he had ever seen the place, and it was loud. But we got some awesome drinks that I swore I could've taken pics of -- the lighting was a little crazy, so I think I ultimately changed my mind with that. One was the periscope which was a refreshing and summery gin drink... And I think I tried the naked and famous too because I like mezcal. I had already eaten so I skipped the restaurant the speakeasy's connected to, but I cannot wait to return to Houston outside of a Con so I can really go all out on exploring. I stopped by on a Sunday around 6 p.m. While I Uber'd, I know that you can find free street parking in the area despite it often being busy. Ambiance (3.5/5): The Davenport was packed even on a Sunday evening. To the point where no seats were available. Luckily for me, about 10 minutes in, the lady next to me left so I was able to snag a seat at the bar. There are also high tops and a small patio out front. The Davenport is a pretty chill establishment, but one with a loyal following. Service (4/5): A full bar usually means service issues. There was a component of that here. It took a little while to order my drink and later to get the bartender's attention to close my tab. Given how popular The Davenport is, your experience will likely be the same. Luckily, they make up for it by going above and beyond with their cocktails. I'll get to that in a second. Food (N/A): I was on a liquid diet, and to be honest, while I'm not 100%, I don't think they have food. There was a guy walking around selling boudin though right when I was about to leave. Drinks (4.5/5): The Davenport is known for their martinis so that's what I recommend going with. It's a The Cheesecake Factory-type menu with 40 or so martinis to choose from. Paradox of choice situation. I ended up going with the gummy bear which was a solid cocktail, although a bit too sweet for my taste. Here's what makes Davenport next level... their martinis pack a punch. I always appreciate a stiff drink. And on top of that, they often give you more than your cocktail in a martini glass. There's usually quite a bit leftover so they'll pour that in another glass for you. Basically a drink and a half for the price of one! Given the strength of the cocktails and the quantity, it's definitely a good deal. The Davenport has been around for a while and has become a well-known spot. I'm glad I finally got to cross it off the list. After you down a martini or two, there's an Irish pub right next door and Trill Burger right across the street.

The bartender warned us ahead of time as they pour double here and yea.. he wasn't kidding. It was filled all the way to the brim.. you're getting your money's worth on a delicious martini. Vibe was a good entire time as they started playing some R&B/hiphop... the crowd slowly trickled in. By the time we left it was almost packed! We had a really nice little table near the front so got to see alot of regulars come in. The bartender even gave us a round of shots on the house for being our first time. (It was like a double green tea shot lol) Great experience overall and definitely be coming back if I'm in this area..
