Pitbull in the Skyy
Tiffany J.

This place is such a vibe! It's divey with an older crowd. Based on the clientele, one would assume that this is a Black owned business but it's not. The staff is so chill and laid back. They have good music playing, and it's not so loud that you can't have a conversation. Everyone already knows how strong the drinks are. I thought the drinks at the Clear Lake location were strong (and they are), but honey, one martini will knock you on your ass if you aren't careful. Consider this your warning. The martini menu is extensive. I had a Pitbull in the Skyy (vodka, grapefruit, lemon) and it was good. Against my better judgement, I decided to order an Aviation martini. I enjoy a good Aviation, but nothing could have prepared me for the potency of The Davenport's Aviation. The bartender (who I later found out is also the owner) said he didn't have the maraschino cherry for the garnish. I'm not a fan of cherries, so it wasn't a big deal. The drink was good, but the amount of booze in it was ridiculous. I needed help finishing it because I wasn't going to let a good drink go to waste. Needless to say, I apologized to my liver when I made it home. I've known about The Davenport for years, but I somehow missed the memo about the concert tickets. Shout out to my cousin for filling me in!

If you're looking for a lowkey chill bar this is it! You can post up outside or find a nice secluded intimate table inside. If you're in the mood to be social they have a decent anoint of bar seats. This red light lounge has strong drinks, friendly staff and some good music. I wish they had better parking options. But I love a lowkey spot to grab a drink

This makes the best Ranch waters in the city hands down. If this is first time pace yourself and drink responsibly

The best place in the city to get drinks hands down they poured the hardest atmosphere is great. The clientele is good. Best quality and liquor. Trust me you don't wanna be anywhere else.

Nice chill place for drinks and a convo! The drinks are pretty strong and they have plenty of specialties to pick from. The service was really nice as they are not rushing there art as mixologist. It was a nice night to have intimate conversation both inside the location and outside on the patio.

Mango Tango definitely on point!!!

A good spot to either pregame or just chill out and kick it with good people. I have reviewed this spot previously when I 1st moved here. If you are wanting a good martini this is a must to get it from here. It's not big you have bar seating and high table seating perfect size. Music playing,if you haven't experienced it make sure you put it on your list! Thank me later after you try a drink!

I came here on Sunday, pack and busy to say the least. The drinks were strong and delicious. The music was bumping. I'd like the try the other one to see if it's a better fit for me.

If going twice in two nights when visiting from L.A. isn't a testament to a great bar, I don't know…read morewhat is. I ate at Norigami Tuesday night and it was great as were the cocktails served up at the nextdoor bar called Hidden Bar. On Tuesday, I tried the Thai Chili Ginger Margarita ($13) and it was great, complete with a hunk of candied ginger which I "gingerly" consumed throughout my drink experience...see what I did there? Next, I had the Three Dots and a Daiquiri ($13) with Rum, Lime, Velvet Falernum, All Spice and Pineapple and it was very similar to one of my favorite tiki drinks, the Three Dots and a Dash, complete with 3 luxardo cherries. To finish, I had the absolutely incredible Golden Laurel ($16) with Gin, Italicus Bergamot, House Greek Botanical Bitters and Sea Salt. It is equally beautiful served with a clear bay leaf and delicious. Last night, I was guided by the friendly bartender to try the Et Tu Banana" ($15) with Banana Bourbon, Spiced Pear, Creme de Banane, Campari and Citric Acid. I was a little worried about the cocktail being overly banana-y but it wasn't at all. It was a fantastic drink. For my last call, he recommended the Left Hand ($13) with Bourbon, Campari, Sweet Vermouth and Chocolate Bitters. Again, fantastic. Both nights, the bartenders and drinks were fantastic. Ambiance is nice with moody lighting. They even have a bidet toilet seat in the bathroom! Hidden Bar is a "hidden" gem, for sure. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

They even have a selfie ring light on the wall, which is such a fun touch for pictures (because if you didn't take pics, did you even go??) Now--fair warning--we went on a Friday night and it was PACKED. We were lucky enough to find seats, but it was so crowded we could barely talk without yelling, and we were basically shoulder-to-shoulder with the people around us Other than that, it's a really nice spot to grab drinks, hang out with friends, and get some cute content. Would I go again? Yes... just maybe not on a Friday night

The drinks were solid, and the overall atmosphere was definitely a vibe. We went on a Saturday evening, so it was pretty crowded, but once we found our spot in the Gold Room, we stayed there most of the night. Great music, great energy, and a unique concept. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something different for a night out. Not sure how it took me this long to stumble in here. Parking is what it is downtown so, there's that.

The lighting is dark, intimate, and behind every level and door, there is something else going on. There is an element of discovery in every corner and a new adventure on every floor. Ever watch the movie Tron? There are some areas of BCD that feel incredibly futuristic with neon-lit interiors and a legitimate sci-fi feel in some areas. The areas are ass follows: The main bar with a DJ and a spacious dance floor, the red room with a visualizer setup of big bass and pulsating lights, the gold room with a speakeasy feel and a curated cocktail menu, with the secret room that is a unique space behind a certain set of doors. Most of the music on the main bar is good, the DJs are energetic, and the bartenders are efficient while professional. It's not the easiest place to photograph anything, but the different (hidden) spaces make it a worthy destination for discovery. The one area that I don't love is that they rock automatic gratuity. I do love how diverse the crowd is on the weekends, which is a testament to the city. Drinks are solid, but the speakeasy drinks are the ones that stand out the most. The latter definitely comes at a price, but beware that some drinks may have all the presence but not enough of the substance. __________ My photos: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/behind-closed-doors-houston?userid=ysCBsXWPB-LAiewVS3jZfQ

For my cocktail, I selected the a classic apple martini (I know, "who still drinks those still?" Lol...I do...nothing wrong with a classic dahling). Great times and worth the check out. The service stood out right away, very welcoming and friendly, and the food came out extremely fast, which was a plus. As for the food, it was decent overall. The onion rings were also good, just needed a little extra seasoning to really bring them up a notch. Overall, it's a solid spot for happy hour with good prices, generous portions, and great service.

It is not sweet nor bitter. This drink is perfectly in the middle. Spicy peach wings: 10/10.. I got them breaded and every bite was full of flavor. It was not too sweet and not too spicy. I highly recommend getting these. Brussels sprouts: 8/10.. They were good but nothing truly wowing about them. The sauce is what makes them great and it does have bits of bacon. Spinach dip with crab: 8/10.. this dip was amazing... except for the crab.. the crab meat was not good and tasted too much like the ocean. Crab is supposed to have a slight sweet taste to it. It's probably because I lived in Maryland and know how crab is supposed to taste. Texas got crawfish on lock but crab... eh.. I say get the regular spinach dip.

These are all $17 but the bartender mentioned that they also do a happy hour until 6:30 during which cocktails are $10. I will definitely come back for this another day. We also got the Carajillo shots, a cocktail that we normally enjoy, and while they came in cute little long steamed shot glasses, and were tasty, the strength of the shot was honestly just like a tiny portion of the regular cocktail. I would skip this next time and just get a full size version. Gratuity (20%) is added to all tabs in addition to a credit card processing fee (3%).
