I'm another one of those Living Social kind of girls. And when I saw the deal they were offering, it was too good to pass up. I finally booked my appointment, which was pretty early on a Saturday morning, so when I got there, RoseAnn was still getting the room ready. No prob, and no thanks to tea, coffee, or water. This wasn't my first rodeo, so I got comfy in the chair while she did my eyebrows-and she used hard wax to my surprise. I've never had hard wax used on my face-nether regions yes, but not for the brows. I hadn't been keeping up with my brows, so when I looked in the mirror I couldn't believe that I had eyes under them! She changed the shape up a bit and I was very happy with that. I really liked Rose Ann in general. She was professional and cool at the same time. She's a chatty girl, and made me want to be chatty back. I could tell that when she asked questions she was genuinely interested. Either that, or she's a good actress. The Brazillian was one of the LEAST PAINFUL I've experienced. I'm not sure if it was because of the hard wax, or because she really knows what she's doing. Probably a combination of both. And I felt like I was less red coming out of there, I'm guessing that's because of the hard wax. They offer a 25% off your next appointment if you book right then, so I did. So in 8 weeks I'll be back to do it all again. The girl at the desk who booked my appointment was super nice. And very unpretentious, as those front desk people in salons have a tendency to be. read more

I have been going to fringe for the last year and really enjoy it. I work with Christina, who is fantastic. She is an excellent listener, is technically very competent and always a great experience. My hair is always looking great and I walk away feeling better. No pressure to buy a bunch of products, like some other places. Parking usually easy right on Milwukee. I've been going to see Andrew Tartara for about 2 years now for highlights and haircuts. He's never steered me wrong and does a fantastic job every time. As a blonde, it's rare to find someone who can do a near perfect head of hair every time. The fact that I receive tons of compliments on my hair speaks for itself. When my hair texture dramatically changed after having 2 kids, all of Andrews suggestions for color and products have proved to be the right ones for my thick, curly and sometimes unmanageable hair. I have been trying to find a good salon for the past few years and was constantly switching trying to find the right fit, I am kind of picky about my hair! I started going to Fringe over a year ago and I have to say that they're simply the best! The front desk staff has always been accommodating and friendly. The prices are fair and I think you sincerely get your money's worth. My stylist (Ashley) is a great listener and very talented. I will be coming back here as long as I live in the Wicker Park area. I have gotten one fantastic haircut and one terrible haircut at Fringe. Wintre gave me a great cut, and I went in a few months later to get the exact same cut- I brought photos of myself, and three photos of how I wanted my bangs to look (long, straight, a bit over my eyebrows). I got butchered! She cut the bangs way, way too short (by nearly an inch)! I now see that the layers are completely haphazard and messy (in a bad way), almost as if she started the cut but didn't finish it. To put it into perspective, I've never called to complain to the salon about a haircut, but I did it after getting this chop job. Luckily, the owner, Dawn, was super nice and understanding, and offered a full refund for the cut. That's the only reason why I give Fringe that second star in my review. However, I cannot recommend going to see Wintre. She's very sweet, but I don't want to go to a hairdresser that could be so inexplicably inconsistent. read more

She continues to consistently do an amazing job and I'm pretty confident she could make an ogre's skin look fantastic! Five Stars is kind of excessive but slutever... they earned it. The staff at Fringe is incredibly professional and dedicated. I have Patrick cut my hair. He's the kind of stylist that you totally trust. If you ask Patrick to get creative on your hair you can be confident that he'll create a one-of-a-kind look that will make you happy. I trust him completely which is not the case for most of stylists I have had in Chicago. Often I just ended up looking like their boyfriends. Patrick doesn't do that to me. In fact he once cut it a little long for my taste... I told him and he spent and extra 30 minutes re-cutting it. He's my hero. My partner lives in LA but when he's in town he always makes sure to visit Patrick (I think its because of Patrick's super sexy hair washing method). I must also mention that the support staff is always very helpful with scheduling around my nuts life. I think about 30-40% of my friends have him cut their hair. We're addicted. Fringe is also located in a great part of Wicker Park with vintage shopping, cheap food, and easy public transportation. read more

The miracle that Molly pulled on my hair was unreal. I came in with a faded ombre of about three different colors, (don't use Ion dye at home, folks) and I walked out with a gorgeous, even, frosty white/grey bayalage. She was very down to earth, easy to talk to, and this was probably the fastest hair appointment I've had in my life. The salon is very open and clean, and you don't feel claustrophobic around other clients getting their hair done. Everyone was super friendly and accommodating too. OMG! I got the CBS $99 special for full highlights, toner, and haircut. I am a first time client to this place, and I had an appointment yesterday with Kasia. SHE WAS AMAZING! I have a fairly simple style but my hair is thick and I can't imagine anyone wanting to do a full foil on me, but she took her time and did an impeccable job. She did not try to rush me out like most stylist, but was super friendly, and talented. I had an appointment at 6pm, and was out at 9pm. I know it is long, but with this hair, I am used to it. I did not have her do a full blow out on me because I'm sure her arms were going to fall out, but I know she can do a fantastic blow out too, so I will be back soon for that! I absolutely love RoseAnne. I hope she never leaves Fringe while I live close by. I know, selfish, but I can't help myself. RoseAnne does such a great job taming my 'brows-gone-wild. I just feel so much more well-put together after she's waxed my eyebrows. I've been to many salons/spas/beauty bars in search for the best brow tamer, and I now always return to Fringe. RoseAnne really makes sure her work is perfect before you leave the salon. She's also friendly, professional, and just sweet as pie. I think the longest I've ever sat waiting here before my appointment was ten minutes. And that happened once out of the 15 or so times I've been here. It definitely seems more like a salon than spa here. So if you're looking for an ultra relaxing oasis, this is not the place to go. But it's a great place to hit for your monthly (or every other month) quick upkeep. I have been going to Fringe since the beginning of the year. It started off with April being a wonderful receptionist and I've come to know her as more than that! She will always try to get me in and if she doesn't she's so nice about it that you feel like it is a win anyhow. She sets the tone for the entire place - always going out of her way to make you smile, show you how to use a product and answer any and all questions. I purchased a Gilt City and had my nails done with Gigi before vacation and I will NEVER go anywhere else. She truly has a gift and my nails get complimented all of the time!!! When you use your Gilt City you also get 15% or 20% off products that day and they had a special for 50% off a haircut...so naturally I got my haircut with Kevin. I've been going to him since then. This place is truly a gem and I hope April sticks around because she is amazing and runs that place so well. read more

I'd just moved to Chicago from D.C. and was looking for a new 'do to go along with my new neighborhood. I wanted to change my color up from honey-toned highlights to a deep red and I'm SO glad I did. I was set up with an appointment with Patrick and he gave me a very detailed initial consultation, being careful to explain every step of the process. He did a great job with the foils and bumped my color up to a darker brown in between. He also did this amazing glossing treatment which made my hair super shiny and really let the color show through. Patrick is clearly a talented stylist and colorist with a personality to boot. I would definitely go back to Fringe Salon (and already have an appointment scheduled). I found Amy 5 1/2 years ago when looking for a stylist that could help me go blonde and I have not looked back! She took me platinum, chopped off 10 inches, and has given me a more than a few new styles/colors over the years. I've followed her to a few salons as it's hard to find someone I trust with my hair, and am so happy that she landed at Fringe - because now I get to go to Fringe. While it's a bit of a further trek for me, I love the products, the people, and the energy. It's great to have a salon that offers skincare and nail services. I have not experienced the salon here, but I had the most amazing 90 minute massage from Lena. I get massages on a regular basis from a spa/therapist in Lincoln Park, but decided to try some place new due to location and I think I've found my new home. Lena listened to the discomforts I had been experiencing and effectively remedied everything in one session. I walked out of there feeling like a new person! She is incredibly skilled and professional in her trade and I recommend her to anyone looking to physically and emotionally benefit from massage therapy. Lena, thank you again! I walked in off the street to get my nails done once, noticing they did Chrome gel manicures, and now I love Evelyn and would never consider having anyone else do my nails. She's extremely thorough and professional, but she's also super fun to talk to! She'll redo something immediately if you ask, or if she's not happy with it. She and the other nail artists there can do just about anything you ask for. They can usually fit me in on the same day or within a few days. The white and purple decorating scheme emphasizes the salon's clean, relaxing atmosphere. Fringe is my go-to place for waxing. I've seen both Danielle and Susan. I'd say they're equally great. Friendly, professional, and both know how to make it as quick and painless as possible. Danielle is newer to the Fringe team, but experienced and very good at what she does! My most recent visit was with Danielle and as always she was so friendly and accommodating.
