I got a brow wax and brow tint from Mandy. Mandy took her time and noticed that my brows were uneven and where I needed more growth. She explained to me how we could grow them out moving forward. I typically breakout after a wax but I didn't break out at all. She also gave me an awesome brow tint. At other salons I usually feel the brow tint is too heavy or fades after a day. This was just right, I haven't used a brow pencil in two weeks. She is really great to just talk to as well. Highly, highly recommend. read more

I went there as a hair model for a Bob haircut as they requested. I waited and waited as the stylist prepares, waiting for owner to join her for an evaluation of my hair. The owner decided I wasn't a good candidate since the stylist was not ready to cut any other Bob cuts other than a straight one length Bob. What a waste of time; SO unprofessional!! read more

Ms.Michelle, my style soulmate. This girl has taken my cut and color to a level I didn't think possible. My hair is super fine and I've forever been left with annoying "holes" on the sides that just do not blend. Michelle has helped me grow out a terrible haircut and I've actually enjoyed the process. My color is beyond fabulous as well. Her balayage skill leaves me speechless. I'm a natural dark brunette and tend to turn brassy when I have highlights. She Mixes her magic and I come out with the beautiful blonde tones I've always dreamed of. Seriously though, this girl is the real deal. To top it off she is one of sweetest girls I've ever met. I feel totally rejuvenated when I leave her salon. Love it. read more

Yo:u - Hair Salons Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Yolanda is the best! She cuts & colors, and houses a space full of love, openness and art.

Grooming splurges are pretty rare for me. My ceiling is usually about 40 bucks since my style is a simple men's cut, but Yo:u may have changed my whole perspective on primping. Got a $65 cut and beard trim, but I've never received so many compliments on my appearance in my entire life. Yolanda is the owner and totally makes a traditionally female dominated environment comfortable for a dude. She's excellent conversation, a huge Chicago Bulls fan, and from what I've heard around town, one of the best stylists in the entire city. I don't doubt it considering my girlfriends reaction after I returned home. She loved it and is excited to get in there herself. The place only recently opened, but will triple as an art gallery and event space once the i's are dotted and t's are crossed. Even though it's a little more than I'm used to spending on looking fresh I think all the compliments I've gotten in the past week justify the price tag. read more

Everyone. Stop whatever you are doing and go see Yolanda. I got a terrible color a couple of weeks ago and she has truthfully transformed my hair, and I can honestly say in 32 years it has never looked better. Her gorgeous salon is neat, invited and her receptionist is equally as charming. Lovely art, fantastic bumble&bumble products... But seriously Yolanda. The lady knows her hair. Everyone's hair. She is also a barber (how cool is that?!). I've lived in Chicago for ten years, frequented various wonderful salons, but none compare to Yolanda and her sheer talent. read more

A supremely talented artist has created an extraordinary space in Yo:u. Yolanda is by far the best hair stylist I've been to which is why I'd follow her anywhere (in Cook County, maybe beyond). Her new salon exudes warmth, accessibility, and love. As always, her skills with hair are outstanding. I receive compliments for months after each appointment. Also, my hair is so much easier to manage under her care and she provides useful tips to keep it looking great. Looking forward to many more visits! read more

Michelle Michelle Michelle.... how I love thee. If she wasn't married already I would get down on one knee. She deals with my hair neurosis like a pro, is totally unflappable and so very talented. I'm definitely a difficult client who likes to change hair color often. Michelle is not afraid of a challenge and takes on creative or corrective color with gusto, but she does beautiful natural color as well! She takes her time and sees a process through from start to finish, which I appreciate. Plus she's just a really cool individual and we talk about our cats so what's not to love (ask her about her amazing fat cat Bubbas). I implicitly trust Michelle with my hair and confidently recommend her to anyone and everyone. read more

Yolanda is a brilliant hairstylist and an inspiration. Besides cutting/coloring my hair- she has styled many artists/models and worked for years and years before owning her salon. If you want someone who is gifted not only technically but creatively- please book an appt now. She really knows what she is doing as a hairdresser and businesswoman. All of us should strive to be as dedicated to our craft! read more

I loved my first experience at Yo:u! Mandy has been waxing and tinting my eyebrows for over a year at another salon, and I'm so happy she stayed in the neighborhood! I was also pleased with the tint that she started using. It has been over 4 weeks since my last appointment and my eyebrows still of a warm tone - which is tricky in the summer. Yo:u is a beautiful open space and everyone who works there is extremely welcoming and talented. I'm thrilled and am actually going back today for round 2. Thanks Mandy! read more

Literally the best haircut and color I have ever received. Yolanda did a fantastic job, and she made it super clear how much she cared and wanted to make me happy with me cut/color. I also didn't give her a ton of direction, so she basically had to figure out what I wanted and what's best for my hair. And she nailed it. read more

Absolutely recommend Yolanda, she is a super star and has been cutting my hair for the past 3 years. I still drive all the way from the suburbs for her services! read more

Such a fantastic experience through and through. I was warmly greeted and felt instantly drawn to the art and decor. The shop has an incredibly open vibe with subtle personal touches and photos that give you a cozy feel. Yolanda and company created this inclusive environment even while I waited for her to finish her previous client (I was early). We're all friends here! My shampoo and scalp massage was super relaxing and then Yolanda went to work her magic. She says, tell me what you like, what you don't like, what we can fix, and then she's off and snipping. She nailed my blowout and always makes me feel like a million bucks. As a chick with curly hair, I'm super cautious about who touches it. I feel so lucky to have found her because not only is she skilled, she's such an enjoyable energy. read more

I absolutely love Michelle! She is so talented and works her magic! Michelle has done make up and hair not only for myself, but my family as well. She knows what works with your skin/hair, and what does not. Whenever I have the opportunity to go to Michelle I know I'm going to look and feel fabulous. I HIGHLY recommend this wonderful stylist. You will not be disappointed! read more

I absolutely love this salon! I recently started going here and could not be happier with my experience. It's very clean and cute, they offer great beverages and the staff is amazing. Michelle is an amazing hair stylist who never disappoints! I love what she has done with the color and cut of my hair. She really takes her time to make sure the outcome is perfect! I would highly recommend both Michelle and the salon! read more

Yolanda has been doing my hair, my sister's hair, and my mom's hair for the past 5 years. She is truly an artist and I can't say that I have ever trusted anyone with my hair more than her. Both my sister and I make special trips into town to see her. The best part is that her haircuts grow out SO nicely. She calls it "lived in" hair. Absolutely go to see her. She is so worth it. You will not be disappointed. read more

Best haircut in all of Chicago. Her level of skill rivals some of the best haircuts I have had in New York. She listens and executes perfectly! I'm obsessed ! read more

This place is fab! Best haircut of my life...even my husband noticed! Not only am I happy with the service, I love the salon. It's really cozy inside & right by the highway. I couldn't ask for anything more. read more

After recently moving to Chicago I was in desperate need to find a new reliable hair place. Yolanda came highly recommended, and she absolutely lives up to the hype. Firstly her salon is an eclectic mix of art, music, and design. It does not feel like the typical barber shop or salon, it feels more like a place I would go to relax and socialize with friends. Yolanda herself was smiling from the moment I met her, she has such a warm presence and her passion is obvious. After a few haircuts she has really gotten a feel for what I'm looking for, making suggestions to aesthetically improve things along the way. The entire staff is always friendly and accommodating, the whole experience is always great. I will absolutely continue to go back. read more
