Love this little spot. Lots of parking and it's never too busy when I visit (I've come during the weekdays around 8-9 and sometimes weekends around 11). I'm always helped by this kind woman who has the warmest smile on her face :) this is my 4th or 5th time here, it's near my work so it's convenient for a quick bite. Food is always made pretty quick, I'm never waiting long. Eggwich deluxe with bacon on a cheese bagel is my go-to. I wish they had more sweet treats like donuts or pastries, but it's probably for the best that they don't, I would've gained a crazy amount of weight by now Pics are from my most recent visit, the woman working gave me a little cookie ! Never got this before but it was good . Stopping by to grab a bagel at this place always brightens my day! Food & service included. Hope more people try it out!

Spinach Mushroom Eggwich Breakfast

I came to Fresh U on a rainy Wednesday morning. There were 2 staff members behind the counter and 1 other customer but the store was extremely quiet. The store has an eclectic set of furniture. The staff were both very smiley and kind. I ordered the Spinach Mushroom Eggwich (~$7.40) on a plain bagel and it was prepped quickly. It was good, but I felt like the bagel-which was missing something. Salsa? Salt? Hot Sauce? The plain bagel itself had a very gummy texture. Similar to a Thomas bagel. It wasn't my favorite. If I do come back, I'd try a different bagel.

Nice and convenient place to pick up a quick bite! This was right next to a salon I was at and it hit the spot. I picked up a ham and cheese bagel. They were generous with the filling and the bagel was nice and toasted. I should have asked for some hot sauce or salsa on the side because it was a bit plain, but other than that this was a nice quick bite to grab. I'll come back and try some other flavors if I'm in the area!

Nova lox (no tomato)

Great local spot for a nova lox bagel. This shop is large, clean, and has the friendliest service! I came in at noon and they were on their last bagels for the day, but I was lucky enough to snag the last everything bagel for my sandwich. The owner also threw in a free cookie for me :) The texture of the bagel had the perfect chew and complimented every other part of the sandwich. The spread was velvety and the salmon was tasty, there was no sign of that slimy consistency that I've come across at other bagel shops before. I'm so glad I found this place, I'll need to try out their other bagels and sandwiches soon. I also saw that they have a bagel box that consists of 12 bagels and 2 schmears, so I'll definitely be stopping by here the next time I'm grabbing bagels for the office!

Trying out another breakfast to go place. Ordered the Vietnamese iced coffee since I was super tired. To eat I ordered the Eggwich W/ Sausage on a cheddar cheese bagel. The sandwich was warm and the cheese melted so perfect. I will come back.

Pretty tasty sandwiches! Chipotle Chicken Avocado #3. The Bread is so soft and the sandwich itself has a fresh taste.

20 oz. Vietnamese Iced Coffee + Eggwich Deluxe Breakfast
Mimi S.

Small mom and pop shop located in the Lawrence Plaza right next to Subway. Came here because I was craving a bagel sandwich. I ordered the Eggwich Deluxe (breakfast all day btw!) and a Vietnamese coffee. The bagel was pretty good and soft; I actually got some spice from the jalapeño cheddar. There's a variety of bagels to choose from. The Vietnamese coffee was just okay; I didn't taste that distinct strong and sweet flavors from the coffee & condensed milk that VN coffee is known for. Overall, quick service and reasonable prices. Next time I'll try the spinach eggwich.

The craftsmanship of the cake was impressive. The crepe layers were very delicate and well-made - it actually reminded me of the quality you find at Lady M. As for the taste, it definitely sparked a conversation! Our group was divided: some of us (myself included) absolutely loved the sweet and salty combination, while others in the group found it to be an "interesting" experience but realized they prefer a traditional sweet cake. If you enjoy savory-sweet flavors and light, airy textures, this is a must-try!

The staff was friendly and patient as I took my time selecting pieces! I ended up choosing four to share later. Each slice is around ~$12.50. - Salted Egg Meat Floss -- (4/5) This is similar to the classic meat floss buns from Asian bakeries! It wasn't sweet and I was pleasantly surprised by this. - Chocolate Sesame -- (2/5) I wouldn't recommend if you wanted sesame. This just takes like chocolate, which was still good! - Pandan Raspberry -- (5/5) This was the favorite of our group! The raspberry is very tart, so it helps balance the cream and tastes fresh. Couldn't really taste the pandan however. - Peanut + Red Bean mochi -- (4/5) This one does have a layer of silky mochi on top that stretches and provides some chew with each bite. It's not too sweet, perfect for those craving a classic Asian dessert taste palate. It's a turn right off Lawrence express, I wasn't expecting the location to be so close to a busy street. Yet, the store itself was quiet and also spacious. A lot of tables to sit at.

I learned the wedding cake flavors aren't the same flavors they have at the store in cake and cupcake form. Luckily when speaking with the young man, he said "we do have wedding cake kits right now". We happily purchased one right away, but wondered how fresh they could be if they had it on demand. Yup, most of the cakes were super dry and hard. The chocolate cakes also didn't have that deep chocolate flavor. Admittedly, we do not like buttercream and wedding cakes usually are limited to that as well as fondant. Every option here is buttercream based so we weren't huge fans, but leaned toward more the tropical flavors: mango, passionfruit, lemon. The mocha, hazelnut and caramel were pretty tasty too. Props for the princess cake!

As you walk into the specialty bakery, the ambient vibe is stark white and clean. A shelf of bagged cookies are to the right-hand side as well as a beverage cooler next to that. Towards left facing into entrance is a display case with a number of varieties in their specialties: jar cakes. Basically a small mason jar of a cake and crème filling. Step inside a couple of feet farther to see the case of all other baked goodies made that morning. Pistachio croissant looks more like a bear claw. It's buttery rich with a touch of salt caramel. Focaccia breads come in a few savoury flavours; it's offered in a (square) slice or half of a slice. Artichoke and goat cheese slice was full of artichoke chunks plus asparagus with ample pockets and dollops of goat cheese. An extremely tasty item. Triangular turnover "Samsa" contains beef, chicken or veggie filling. Chopped beef and onion were inside the pastry I got. I also sampled some of their gourmet breads -- jalapeño cheddar, tomato cheddar and country wheat. Everything tasted really good. Oatmeal cookies are bagged in pairs. Apricot raisin oatmeal cookie was full of raisins and apricot pieces. They make four or five different fruit and/or chocolate varieties of oatmeal cookie. G.K. also bakes smaller 2- to 2.5-inch cookies "amaretti", recommended to go with tea. Those come four or five to a package. Other cookies are on display near the cashier. Fair warning: prices are on the higher end, but the delicacies are of elevated quality. To find the shop in this plaza, look for Wells Fargo Bank, and GK Pastry is just to the right-hand side.

Never thought I say this but TikTok brought me to Basquia Bakery (inside Mega Mart, a Korean…read moresupermarket). Well kinda... I usually get the same item at Basquia Bakery: Korokke, a Korean style fried bread with a crispy panko exterior, filled with savory mash potatoes. For $3, it's a good deal for a snack. Some of Basquia Bakery's baked goods are not labeled so I would have totally overlooked their Korean mochi bread if it weren't for TikTok. Last fall, Korean sweet potato mochi bread (goguma ppang) went viral. For months, the commercial frozen ones were sold out at Korean markets. The supply has since been replenished (along with frozen kimbap) but if you can't commit to an entire bag like myself, then this is for you. Plus, this may be the only bakery in NorCal selling freshly made Korean mochi bread. M E N U Along with mochi bread, Basquia Bakery sells cakes (slice + whole), roll cakes, fruit tarts, cream puffs, bread, buns, k corn dogs, etc. For drinks, they have non-caffeinated lattes (e.g. black sesame and beer). M O C H I B R E A D Available in pairs ($4) or a variety box of the five flavors ($9). I went with the latter. Visited Saturday morning around 9:45 am and the had about a 50% supply left. Can we talk about how adorable these are?! The mochi bread is shaped based on their flavors. The mochi "bread" is mochi with a chewy exterior filled with a mashed filling. This is my personal preference but I like mochi that has more of an elastic, bouncy QQ chew which this didn't quite have. The texture did improve after air-frying the leftovers. Flavors: * Sweet Potato // 4 stars Looks and tastes exactly like the real deal with sweet, fluffy mashed interior but hits different with the slight gelatinous chew. Tip: Eat this with kimchi. It's adds a delicious tang and heat to contrast the natural sweetness. * Corn // 4 stars Enjoyed the creamy corn filling with kernels for texture. * Potato // 4 stars Savory, creamy mashed potatoes. I wanted to pair this with a steak. Lol. * Chestnut // 4 stars I love roasted chestnut but this has cinnamony, chocolatey notes from the dusting of cocoa powder + cinnamon. There were chunks of roasted chestnut. * Kabocha // 3 stars Again, tasted like the real deal but too sweet for me. Overall, glad I tried this cute novelty at Basquia Bakery. I'm now convinced to buy a bag of the commercial frozen ones, yanno for taste test comparison purposes. ;)

I've been coming to La Patisserie in Cupertino for years, usually when I'm already in the area…read moreshopping. There are a lot more fancy dessert shops around the Bay Area these days, but somehow I still come back for their Guava Cake. It's actually a strange craving. I don't think about this cake every week. Sometimes I completely forget about it for months, then one day something goes wrong in my brain and suddenly I NEED a guava cake. I've had this cake many times over the years and that's probably what impresses me most - it really hasn't changed much. Same fluffy cake, same very fragrant guava flavor, same bright old-school appearance. Maybe the angle of the whipped cream piping has changed a few degrees over the years, but I'll allow that process deviation. The guava flavor is the main reason I keep buying it. To me, it tastes surprisingly natural and close to real fruit. I've had plenty of guava desserts where you immediately get that artificial syrup/flavoring impression. I don't get that here. The guava is strong and fragrant, the cake itself is very light and fluffy, and the mousse and glossy guava topping give you that fruit flavor in almost every bite. This is definitely an old-school cake. It's not trying to be Lady M or some modern Instagram dessert. And that's fine. A good traditional cake is still a good cake. Usually I'm buying the whole cake to bring to someone's house, so I've watched a lot of first-timers try it over the years. Guava is guava - some people think it's on the sweet side, others love how fragrant it is. But somehow this is the one guava cake I've brought around that pretty much everybody ends up liking. And one comment I hear a lot is how natural the guava flavor tastes. It's around $70 for a whole cake now, which definitely isn't cheap. But if I'm paying that much for cake, at least give me something I can actually remember the next day. This one I can. If I'm planning to pick one up around 4 or 5 PM, I normally order earlier in the day. I've learned not to conduct unnecessary cake-inventory experiments. After all these years, La Patisserie's Guava Cake is still basically the same cake I remember. Dr. C long-term stability study: PASSED. Whipped cream piping angle may have experienced minor process drift. No CAPA required.
