There is a huge parking garage connected to the building for parking. Attended a party here where they reserved the back dining room which was nice, they had TVs and they provided tables for our gifts and favors. Service was great; this is an all Asian buffet with Japanese, sushi and sashimi, soups, make your own mala tang, choose your own meats to bbq, tons of Chinese food, frogs legs, dim sum, you name it! They have a fridge where you can get your own bottled drinks too. Tons of dessert and ice cream! Good bang for your buck, the only thing is if you're allergic to seafood. We had some people at our party that was allergic to seafood so make your own mala tang you had to be careful because of the contamination of seafood items to make or throw into the soup. My friend got soup but found a clam so she couldn't eat it and had to be very careful. Lots of parties for a Saturday, my friend said if you didn't get the private room to bring balloons or something to decorate or note where your area is yours.

I felt like this was really worth it. They have sushi, a good selection of protein and seafood, fried food, soup, dim sum, and around 6 kinds of dessert. They even have malatang which was a nice plus and the thai spicy soup was flavorful. A little strong but still enjoyable. The eggplant, steamed fish, chicken feet, tuna sushi, hot n sour soup were great! Obviously for a buffet the food won't be perfect so it was good for what it was. The vibe inside is busy and the tables are pretty filled even on weekdays but they have a lot of tables as it's huge inside.

Nice cool vibe and the menu had happy hour specials. We had the Baja style fish tacos $14 which was battered and fried fish and slaw. The fish was nicely done. The shrimp Louie $22.50 had nice amount of bay shrimp, egg and avocado. The chicken Milanese sandwich $16 was a bit disappointing though. The battered chicken fingers were a bit dry and the pieces were on the small size, as was the fried chicken fingers $12. The deviled eggs $8.50 was creamy. Could've done without the pickled jalapeño-made it bit bitter. We all loved the griddled sourdough $5 ! I'd come back to check out more of the small bites menu.

We walked in and liked the spot immediately it gave the both of us like a very Oceanside spot, not entirely sure on how to describe it to be honest. Our waitress was super friendly and great in serving us throughout our meal. Both of our favorite things that we ate was actually their $5 happy hour fish tacos. We were so surprised and loved the fact we ate that last. The only thing I was taken aback was that the oysters were not chucked entirely properly and there was one that was pretty bad that I couldn't order more oysters like I wanted to, I think it wasn't as fresh. If I could give a 3.5 I would because of that bad oyster I ate. But overall good spot! And I would highly recommend the fish tacos!

Warm-toned interiors, leather booths, and calm lighting genuinely made this a great experience in itself But of course, the food made everything even better. Loved the complimentary bread and butter. I decided to go with the chicken piccata and this may have been the best I've ever had. The sauce and capers were cooked down so nicely, every ingredient was intentional and nothing was an afterthought. The lasagna was also delicious with an honestly unbeatable tomato sauce. Not pictured but to top the night off, we had their famous butter cake. Oh my goodness. I would go back just for that. Appreciative of the friendly staff and I can't wait to go back!

Thanks to Alberto and the entire team, we had the best time, food, and overall experience. Even though the restaurant was incredibly busy--packed with people and with guests constantly walking in throughout the evening--Alberto never made us feel forgotten. He thoughtfully checked in on us, got everything to us in a reasonable amount of time, and was incredibly patient as I asked questions about different menu items. He even let us know that, although he was busy, we should simply flag him down if we needed anything at all. At establishments like this that have such a high volume of customers, I honestly don't expect service like this. I expect long waits and to spend half the evening trying to find my server. Not Alberto, though. He was kind, professional, helpful, and knowledgeable from beginning to end. As for the food, I had the Pilsner and Joe's Filet of Sole, my friend had the Golden Ale and Joe's Eggplant Parmigiana, and we shared the butter cake with ice cream for dessert. Everything was chef's kiss, including the bread and butter! I would absolutely come back just for the service from Alberto. Five stars, always. You can never go wrong with Original Joe's, and Alberto made an already great experience even better.

So tonight was the night we felt like going out and didn't feel like cooking. We live less than 10 minutes away, so it was quick and simple. We found a parking spot about a block away. Beautiful Mexican artwork covered the interior walls and the place was festive and colorful. The bar had a modern vibe with words above that read, "Si fueras Tequila te tomarias enserio!" which google translates to, "If you were Tequila, you would be taken seriously." Something to ponder about as you're taking shots or nursing your drink. ***OUR PICKS*** ORDEN DE CEVICHE ~ this ceviche was tart and salty, but a nice starter to get your appetite going. It comes with crackers and tostadas. The shrimp was cooked from all the lime juice. Maybe more cooked than we would have liked, but it was definitely safe to eat. 4/5 CAMARONES A LA DIABLA ~ Giant prawns, Mexican rice, refried beans, a salad and 4 handmade tortillas. This was a generous platter and a fiesta for the eyes!!! The prawns were in a sweet and peppery sauce. My guy wanted some citrus to go with it, but the cut up limes we got were really hard and dry! No juice came out of it. So we ate the perfectly cooked prawns as is. They just needed some citrus to lighten up the flavor. The rice and beans were on point and the salad had an unexpected surprise, guava dressing! I love guava, so naturally I enjoyed the salad! And usually with a spring mix, the dressing is too tart and overpowering. This dressing was perfect, where it was sweet and tart with a lovely flavor! 4.5/5 TROMPO DE PASTOR ~ marinated pork grilled at your table side. It comes with a few pieces of pineapples, chopped red onions, cilantro, grilled green onions, grilled prickly pear cactus pads and 4 handmade corn tortillas. We got a little entertainment while eating this dish! The pork was a tad salty, so I would have liked some rice to balance it out. The rest of the condiments and sauces were good. 4/5 Service was excellent and food was tasty! We got some satisfying authentic Mexican dishes tonight and really enjoyed our time at Las Pencas de Maguey!

Food is meant to be shared, but my group all got separate entrees. I ordered the garlic shrimp rice plate, which was filling just for one person. My only complaint was that there wasn't enough shrimp! Flavor was garlicky, but not salty enough. This is probably a good thing, since you can adjust to your own dietary preference. A bit on the oily side (hence filling), but that's to be expected with garlic shrimp. The night we went, there was a birthday party happening in their private room. It was really loud and noisy, so it was hard to hear folks. Our server was nice, but fortunately for us he spoke loud enough for us to hear him despite all the loud music! Parking can be tough as it's in a residential area of DC with most of the parking being residential. So you might need to walk! Overall, I give this place a solid 3.5 stars - tasty food and pretty good service. Knocking down half a star for a somewhat subpar (loud/noisy) ambiance. I'd probably go back again, but for take out only.

My favorite would be the deluxe chirashi box for the wide variety of sashimi and salmon sashimi is my absolute favorite. Service: we've never actually sat down in the restaurant since it looks super small and the tables are really close to each other and they're also typically busy and full. The space is very small, with three tables that seat two or three people and four stools at the counter. We ordered two rolls, the Oh Baby and Mango Salmon, as well as the sushi tacos. The quality and texture of the fish were good. Our favorite of the three dishes was the Mango Salmon roll. The mango paired nicely with the salmon, and the salmon itself was soft and buttery. The sushi tacos were enjoyable as well. The nori shell was crispy and added a nice texture, but I felt like the sauce was a little overpowering and took away from some of the other flavors and ingredients. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and appreciated the quality of the fish. It's a small spot, but worth checking out if you're in the area.
