Double boiled soup of the Day... so good!

Ming Yuan is a hidden gem! No frills, no sparkling clean carpets, no fancy decors, no black tie service... BUT EXCELLENT FOOD AT GREAT (Cheap!) prices!!! Come on, where can you get a Live Crab, cooked Salt & Pepper style... and only for $48!?! It goes by each crab, not by the pound. And yes - you can pick out your favorite crab from the tank. ;) Their dishes are all on point on both freshness, flavors and most of all - the wok hay!! So good!! Highly recommended!!!

I was here with family for lunar New years lunch. SUDDENLY the table across from us stood up to take photos of the CEILING. As I look up to see what the fuss was about a black MOUSE was slowly making its way across the walls. Everyone at this point, had their phones out capturing this. I lost my appetite. I definitely do not recommend y'all come here at all. STAY. AWAY.

Great food and customer service. It gets kind of loud, but I think that was our table. A gathering of brothers is rare! Enjoy the dishes!

We came over to Ming Yuan after a friend of mine ended up going crabbing earlier that day, we had a few extra Crabs that needed to be cooked, and Ming Yuan will do it (of course, for a price!). We ordered a couple of items such as Honey Walnut Shrimp (Always a hit!), Roasted duck, Crab Meat and fish Maw Soup, and an extremely delicious beef rib. Every item we ate was a hit. I personally am always a fan of Honey Walnut Shrimp, and as I said earlier, a superb hit! The service was quick, we walked in and the table was ready for us, handed them the crab and asked us how we'd like it cooked, after a few minutes of choosing a few more items, the food slowly came out, it wasn't an extremely busy night, about half the tables were empty which isn't abnormal for a regular Monday Night. It was a nice and pleasant ambiance, and there was a group in the back having a birthday party, and even though we were right behind them, they were not loud at all. The stars of the shows that came out were the 4 crabs that we had cooked, and wow, they were delicious! With a table of 7 and 2 kids, we could barely finish all the food, but did enough! We boxed everything up, had desert and paid the bill, definitely a great place to come to for dinner!

We've been here before and it was decent, but this last time, it was mediocre at best. Maybe we ordered wrong? Or they changed chefs? And on top of that, there was a 15 minute wait for a table on a Thursday afternoon. And we thought waiting meant good food! Unfortunately, NOT! I'll start with the good and work my way down. ***OUR PICKS*** FRESH SHRIMP CREPES ~ these were ok. The crepes weren't thin though, but you get some good jumbo shrimp. 4/5 PAN FRIED RICE NOODLES ~ This was filled with eggplant and pork. We should have marked which one we wanted as they had 3 options. They just gave us the first option. This was good, however the noodles on top were quite oily to get it crisp. 3/5 BEEF CREPES ~ average crepes with typical smooth beef filling that's like a paste. 3.5/5 BEAN CURD SKIN ROLL ~ didn't taste fresh and the shrimp was a bit hard. 2/5 FLAKY EGG TARTS ~ tiny egg tarts with barely any custard! It was sunken and when I bit into the tart, it was kind of wet on the bottom. The crust was definitely flaky, but the custard was lacking and had a sour note. Probably one of the worst egg tarts I've had. Thankfully, my stomach took it ok. 1/5 BLACK SESAME ROLLS ~ this one tasted store bought from the freezer aisle. Just didn't taste fresh. 2/5 When dessert ends your meal with a bad taste in your mouth, it just ruins the whole experience. Sorry to say, this might be our last time here.

This place was a unexpected spot for me, I've walked past it a bunch of times but never stopped. Come to find out a friend hits this spot all the time was his family. He made it clear we needed to get in there. First off the fried rice was on point, chow fun fry was pretty good too. I also took a chance on the fried pumpkin (hella good) & salt and pepper wings was hella good too. Take your family to this place

An early b'day dinner for my wife and my mom, we crammed around a round table and ordered a set menu and added an order of Peking Style Pork Chop. We had: BBQ Combo Platter - 4 - decent Sauteed Dual Seafood w/ Yellow Chives - 3 - scallops had no flavor Sauteed Beef Fillet & Mixed Mushrooms - 5 - best dish of the night Bamboo Pith & Seafood Soup - 4 - not fans of pith but soup was hot Sea Cucumber w/ Mushroom & Pea Sprout - 3 - Sea Cucumbers had no flavor; pea sprouts were tender Whole Peking Duck w/ Buns - 3 - not much meat; decent buns Fresh Dual Lobsters w/ Ginger & Scallion - 3 - small lobsters Steamed Live Fish - 2 - worse case of fish prep ever, some organs were still inside the fish. E-Fu Noodle w/ Yellow Chives & Mushrooms - 2 - enough chives to see, not to taste Peking Style Pork Chop - 4 - second best dish of the night (Desserts) Red Bean Soup - 3 Almond Cookies - 3 Sesame Cookies - 3 Definitely a good variety of food but the value simply wasn't there.

Wanted to try a different location that serves Chinese food. We went for dinner. It seemed to have a couple big tables considering it was a Thursday. We ordered: Pork belly clay pot, steam egg, beef, oxtail clay pot, vegetable dish, tofu with mushroom and vegetable, noodle dish, and roasted chicken. My favorite was : pork belly clay pot, steam egg, tofu dish , beef and the roasted chicken. Yummy. It got mom's thumbs up. So I would definitely go back maybe try their dim sum.

Had an early Christmas dinner here with family. We were at two tables in the back separate room. We did the banquet menu for $538 for 10 people. There was a lot of good seafood in the menu so price seemed fairly good for what you get. Service was typical, not amazing but not terrible. Food came out really quickly, but then the dessert took a while for some reason. Other than that, no complaints. Loved all the food. The parking can be tough here, but there is residential parking nearby; it just gets full sometimes too.

They open at 10:30am and it is packed with people. Whole party needs to be present to be seated. If you go on a weekend be prepared to wait at least an hour to get seated. Waitress will hand you a number and you have to wait to be called, if you miss your number they will move on to the next party. We had a total of 8 people in our party. Food was fresh, hot, and flavorful. Recommendations - All the rice rolls were delicious! Shrimp was full of plump shrimp. Beef was soft, tender, full of meat. BBQ pork was also packed with meat with very good flavor. Fried donut was standard but Iike that they give soy sauce on side so it doesn't get soggy - Spareribs very meaty and full of flavor - Chicken feet also very flavorful and it was soft and tender - Shanghai dumplings are plump, meaty, and full of soup - BBQ pork buns had a very nice bread crust and filling was tasty What I wouldn't order again - Shrimp Dumpling, comes with three and missing the snap that you get then you bite into it - Beef Noodle Soup, very plain with not enough beef and alot of rice noodles - Taro Dumplings, very dense and not enough filling Another con is that because they are so busy you feel rushed to eat and leave so it's hard to sit and enjoy your meal. Very loud in the restaurant as well. Wait staff is also not very attentive since they were so packed and we had to flag multiple waiters to get ice water refills, extra napkins, and hot water refills for our tea. I would come here again but maybe on a weekday where there isn't as much of a crowd. As we waited a lot of people left to go elsewhere because they were deterred by the long wait.

Roasted chicken and soy sauce chicken
    Tiffany D.

This year for Thanksgiving, we decided to eat chicken instead of turkey. It was a great decision to purchase from Ming yuan. Their roasted chicken is perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The flavor of the soy sauce chicken is very fragrant, not just straight up soy sauce flavor. The chicken they use is the Asian type where it's leaner and has less breast meat. It was very well executed!

I've been here multiple times with large group my family (~16 adults) . We typically have two tables and we order the 10 set special. There were times where the items tasted great, but other times somewhat bland. It's not very consistent. It's good for large group, but the inconsistency deters me to come back unless grandma specifically request this place. Parking in the area may take time to find, but there's always a few on Crestwood Drive.

We placed our orders and settled in to wait for our dishes. As we chatted and shared stories, we noticed that the table behind us was receiving their orders and sitting down about 10 minutes after we did. We started to see plates arriving for other tables, prompting us to investigate the status of our food. Upon checking, we discovered that our order had been lost. After waiting for half an hour, we were informed that they had misplaced it. Consequently, we had to place our order again. Let's dive into the details of our dishes: - #210: Roasted Duck Burrito: The burrito lacked substantial duck meat, and the wrap was not warm as it should have been. - #405: Shui Mai: This dish was consistent with the taste of other Shui Mai we've had. - #409: Chicken Feet with Black Bean Sauce: Regrettably, we never received this dish. - #416: Har Gaw: This was the last dish served us. It arrived steaming hot, but the wonton skin wrapper was thick and chewy. - #421: Spare Ribs in Black Bean Sauce: The ribs had a sweeter flavor than expected. - #504: Fresh Okra Poached with Garlic & Scallion: The okra was not slimy and had a pleasant taste. - #304: Hand Roasted Suckling Pig Slice: The slice was incredibly tender and crispy. - #312: Crispy Tofu with Garlic/Herbs: The tofu was crispy, but some of the coating that wasn't fully fried with it tasted a bit raw. - #808: Crispy Fried Taro Puffs with Pork: These were crispy and warm. - #802: Fried Glutinous Dumplings with Dice Pork: The dumplings were crispy and warm, but the pork was minimal. - #711: Stir Fried Beef Chow Fun: The dish was good, and the meat was tender. Throughout the meal, our waiter kept checking on our order and relaying messages in Chinese about the dishes still needed for our table. After two hours, we decided to cancel the chicken feet. When the bill arrived, I expressed my dissatisfaction with the service, and the waiter responded with a series of "ok"s. After a few more "I'm not happy" comments, he removed the "service charge" and informed us that we could decide whether to leave a tip or not. We did leave a tip, but here's my tip to you...take your chance #dimsum #chinesefood #koipalace #disclaimermusicisnotmine

No water, just pure concentrated flavor. The restaurant gets its name from simmering, one of the essential Chinese cooking techniques, and you can taste that philosophy across the whole menu. The Dry Pot lived up to the hype, but the real surprise was the skewers. Beef, lamb, and chicken, intensely flavorful and rich. I can't stop thinking about them. The potstickers were also way better than expected. Usually a throwaway order at most places, but here they were juicy and packed with flavor. The beef pancakes were fantastic. Golden and crispy on the outside, juicy flavor bomb on thes inside. Both crunchy and a little chewy (in the good way). Came back a few weeks later with friends and ordered the whole grilled fish, which I'd been eyeing since my first visit. It looked magnificent, but it didn't really pop the way the other dishes did. If you love fish it's worth trying, but the dry pot, skewers, beef pancakes, and dumplings are the stars here. We also got a few veggie dishes which were all great accompaniments...but nobody is here for the veggies. A few practical notes. They have a beer tap but it doesn't work, so if you're into beer, they've got a few options by the bottle. Parking is easy since it's in the Serramonte Center, and you can combine it with a trip to Jagalchi, Target, or whatever else you need. Both times I came there was plenty of seating. I'll be back soon, and next time I'm getting the dry pot with their handmade noodles.

They are located in a strip mall near several different food places, bakery, and a bowling alley. This is a solid dim sum place, with no frills and reasonable prices. You order off a printed menu that's in Chinese with tiny English subtitles. You can also order off their regular menu if you want to supplement the dim sum dishes. Their food is very good, and some dishes were excellent. The service was pretty quick, and before we knew it, all our dishes were out with almost no room on the lazy Susan. The standouts for me were: + Steamed custard buns (piggy buns) - I ordered these for the kiddies, but dang they are so good. The custard filling is so velvety, it's almost like pudding. I think I detected a hint of coconut too - yum. + Beef chow fun - this had a really good wok flavor and the noodles were less wide than most. The noodles didn't clump either, and the bean sprouts were still crispy. + Roasted pork belly - the skin was so crispy and the pork was juicy. We ordered most of the basic dishes like har gaw, sui mai, noodle rolls, turnip cake, stuffed eggplant, chicken feet, etc. and they were all above average. My only complaint is if you don't read Chinese, the menu is a little hard to navigate. The English subtitles are so small that if you're looking for something, you have to scan the front and back of the menu trying to find the item. I was looking for sticky rice in lotus leaf, but found sticky rice roll and thought it was the same thing. It wasn't. The sticky rice roll was not bad, but I found the rice drier than when it's in lotus leaf. We ordered a few things by mistake because the English subtitles were not that descriptive. Overall, a great alternative to more popular places like Koi Palace. The menu may not be as creative as Koi, but you don't have to deal with the lines and you still get great food.

Most Chinese restaurants will accommodate a guest request so long as they have the ingredients and they know how to compose the dish. How they work out the pricing may be something else. At the table immediately behind my mom, I heard the guest ordering a Hot & Sour Soup, add Won Ton. One of my favorite mash-ups! We ended up having a very nice conversation over lunch. Of course, we ordered the same soup and the price they charged was a reasonable $16.95. I've had some places try to charge me for two soups which I think is ridiculous. We also ordered a Seafood Chow Mein and a Chicken Dry Fried Chow Fun with Yau Chow Sum. All three dishes came out nice and hot. The flavors were on point very satisfying. I goofed and didn't a picture of the Chow Fun because it came out last and I was already tucking into my Chow Mein. Mom enjoyed it so we'll be back!

Spicy House is my go-to spot! I come here so often the servers recognize us and already know what…read morewe're going to order. I LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEE the dry fried chicken and the Szechuan spicy beef. The chicken is crispy, packed with flavor, and super addictive, while the spicy beef is rich, bold, and has that signature numbing kick from the Sichuan peppercorns. I usually also get the honey walnut shrimp when I want something a little sweeter to balance everything out, but if you're trying this place for the first time, you really can't go wrong with the dry fried chicken and Szechuan spicy beef. Just a heads up, it's not just spicy, it's that numbing heat, so definitely get some rice on the side.

Spicy House is quickly becoming my new favorite Chinese restaurant. My husband and I stopped in…read morearound 2:00 in the afternoon, and even at that hour the place was pleasantly busy, which felt like a good sign right away. We both ordered lunch plates. He had the black bean spicy fish with white rice, and I chose the mapo tofu with fried rice. Each lunch came with tea, a cup of hot and sour soup, and an egg roll. The soup really stood out. It wasn't just a thin broth with a few scraps floating around. It was a genuine, comforting hot and sour soup with real ingredients in every spoonful. That alone made the meal feel thoughtful and complete. The portions were satisfying and well balanced, and everything arrived hot and fresh. My husband enjoyed his fish, which had good flavor and a nice texture. The mapo tofu was exactly how I like it. The tofu held its shape, which made a big difference. I do not enjoy overly soft tofu that falls apart, and this had a firmer bite that worked really well with the sauce. The dish was clean tasting, with a steady heat that was noticeable but not overwhelming. It had spice, but it did not overpower the dish or linger too aggressively. There was no pork, which I appreciated, and it still felt complete and satisfying without it. What made this meal especially meaningful for me is that I had just gotten out of the hospital a week ago after dealing with malnutrition, dehydration, and several health issues. I had not been eating well and had lost over 80 pounds in the past year. This was the first full, nourishing meal I have truly been able to enjoy in a long time. For the first time in months, I did not feel weak or fragile afterward. I felt full, steady, and strong. That kind of experience goes beyond just good food. It felt restorative. It felt like care. From what others often say, this place has built a strong reputation for bold Sichuan flavors that are still approachable. People tend to mention the generous portions, the consistent quality, and the fact that the spice levels are flavorful rather than overwhelming. It is the kind of spot that draws both regulars and first time visitors who are looking for something reliable and satisfying. Spicy House gave me more than just a meal. They gave me a moment of comfort and strength when I really needed it. We will absolutely be back.
