Don't let the name fool you. This place offers more than just dim sum. They are located in a very busy shopping center. Parking can be difficult, but well worth it. The dining area is large and clean with plenty of room in the aisles to move around. The service was very good, our waiters were very attentive. The food was fantastic, every dish we ordered was very delicious. If you want to try some very good authentic Cantonese food, give Dim Sum King a try!

Came on a Saturday at around 12:45pm during busy hours. Wait was about 30-45 minutes to sit down. Can't really complain about wait time, just means the establishment is very popular. Tables have a clean sheet so if you drop the food with your minimal experience with chopsticks you can pick it up and eat it. Food is excellent and service is great. Great for family, friends, and dates. (That rhymed btw) The baked durian puff is a MUST TRY! YA FEEL ME BRUH? Lobster nudels (noodles) are herrrrra guuuuut, like hella okurt skrttt. Highly recommend with my utmost respectful regards.

Came here for the first time and thought the food was pretty good! Every dish we got was flavorful and well-priced. Would come back again. Parking could be challenging at peak hours though.

We were back again for the Lunar New Year. The food was excellent and a touch on all the classics! It was packed to the brim like sardines in a can, so that was expected of such a holiday season. We also got dim sum from them for takeout soon after too, so this is a good stop for classic Cantonese dishes as well as dim sum to-go. Flavors are excellent and pretty much a guarantee.

Super delicious dim sum! Honestly wondering if locales rated this lower to try to keep it a secret but sharing is caring. This place definitely gets busy during peak dim sum hours so come early or be prepared to wait a bit, especially on the weekend. Parking gets pretty full and it's an average sized restaurant. They don't do the push cart and you order from the slip which I think is really to just save space and squeeze in more tables. Now obviously there are your basic go tos such as shu mai, steamed spareribs, etc but what we need to look at here is the duck! Whether you choose the roasted or Peking duck version, both are solidly tender and delicious. Don't expect the Peking Duck to have super crispy skin without the fat but it's still delicious. Everything is a little bit oilier than I'd like but the soaked goodness is worth it.

I grabbed a quick lunch here on my way from SFO to the North Bay. There is a parking lot shared with other stores. It wasn't busy the day before Thanksgiving so we got seated right away. No carts, write your order down on the menu. Food came out pretty quick. Everything was okay, not my favorite of all time, but good. Price is reasonable, it was $65 for two with a little bit of leftovers.

After shopping at 99 Ranch, we decided to have lunch here. It's been a while since I've eaten here, and now they have dim sum all day long. It was ~15 minute wait around prime lunch time. Like most dim sum restaurants, there's a paper menu to check off items and give to the waiter. There was also a lady pushing around a cart with boiled items, chicken feet, and porridge. Our order: Hot tea: $1.75/person +We selected 铁观音 Iron Goddess and it was robust. +Tea cups were easy to hold. -Every time we poured tea from the pot, it leaked onto the table. 蟹子烧麦 Steamed Pork Dumplings AKA Siu Mai (4 pcs): $7.95 +Shrimper's delight: Filling was full of shrimp and topped w/shrimp roe +Not too salty -Filling didn't taste very fresh. 潮州蒸粉果 Steamed Minced Meat Dumplings (3 pcs): $6.95 -I didn't try this but this is one of my dad's fave dim sum items and he didn't like it. He said that the filling was mostly veggies. 蘋果叉燒酥 Baked BBQ Pork Puff w/Apple Flavor (3 pcs): $6.95 +Each puff was huge: Definitely the largest BBQ pork puffs I've seen! +Filled w/salty & sweet BBQ pork filling +Golden brown top w/sesame seeds added a fragrant toasty flavor. -Soft texture: It was missing the flaky, crispy layers. -Tasted like a regular BBQ pork puff: I didn't see or taste apples. 香煎韮菜果 Pan-Fried Chives & Meat Dumplings (3 pcs): $9.75 +Good amount of chive & shrimp filling: Shrimp wasn't included in the name and there wasn't any meat so beware if you have a shrimp allergy or are expecting meat. -Despite having "pan-fried" in the name, the tops and bottoms weren't crispy. Also the wrapper was thick. -Expensive for the quality and size: I've had tastier ones for less. 鮮蝦滑腸粉 Shrimp Rice Noodle Rolls (3 rolls/6 pcs): $9.75 +Filled with large, plump shrimp +Rice noodles were silky smooth and thin. +Despite sitting in a pool of soy sauce, it wasn't salty. 脆皮紅燒乳鸽 Braised Pigeon: $18.95 +Meat was juicy -Underseasoned: We used the lemon wedge and seasoned salt on the side. -The skin looked (and tasted) off: It didn't have that glistening sheen. Side notes: 1.) Happy hour M-F 9:00am-10:00am: All sizes of dim sum are $6.95. 2.) Free parking in the Skyline Plaza lot *Verdict: 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 d/t service. Dishes were cleared promptly and we received tea refills without having to ask.

The dim sum was very good and much like other places I have eaten at. Even a few of them in my area. Service was excellent and quick for the most part. What suck was that we came during lunch. Therefore no happy hour. They have it twice a day. First from 9 to 10 AM and from 3 PM to 5 PM. Otherwise it is the regular price. Since we purposely went there because of the daily TV advertising, we won't be back. There are plenty near SFO which is easier to get to get since it's on way home.

Great spot for dim sum w/better than average decor vs. a hole in a wall. The baskets arrive piping hot & tea pots refilled in seconds. Been here 10x's & simply let the party do all the ordering. My rice crepes & custard buns & I'm set for whats to come.

Great food, tons of selection and variety, friendly service, ample seating, huge portion sizes, and reasonable prices. We got some dim sum classics which were all delicious. We also got the Fujian fried rice, and this fried rice was massive. Easily enough to serve 6-8 people. All the items were honestly pretty big in size. The restaurant is spacious with tons of tables and seating. Service was prompt, and they helped us box up our leftovers. We spent $87 for 2 people, and we have more than enough leftovers for 2-3 more meals.

I haven't been back here since they remodeled the restaurant quite some years ago. The trick I learned is to reserve a room, they have at least three private rooms that I am aware of. The rooms require a minimum of two hundred dollars for the bill. That can easily be made with eight plus adults that eat dim sum. We actually made it with additional orders to take out because we only had five adults and three children that didn't eat much but then again the adults had to keep up with me, lol. Their steamed chicken feet which I forgot to get a pic of were real good, that's probably why I didn't get a pic because everyone grabbed it as soon as it arrived, their bean curd skin wrapped veg was also a winner but all and all, most of their dim sum items were pretty exceptional. This is a very popular place so coming early or later after the crowds have tapered off is advisable. The tripe and cold chicken feet I pretty much polished off by myself. I would keep this restaurant in mind if I'm looking for great dim sum.

This place, located in chilly Daly City, overall offers excellent dim sum. It is especially impressive because very few dim sum restaurants serve dim sum until dinner time. My favorite is the radish cake series. The pan-fried radish cake and XO sauce are both great. The beef with mushrooms also performs very well. I highly recommend it to connoisseurs who love Cantonese dim sum.

The environment here is excellent--neat and clean. The service is also incredibly friendly, attentive, and meticulous. They respond swiftly to any request--it's simply fantastic! The food is not only beautifully plated also exceptional in taste. I will definitely bring my friends here to dine again; I genuinely give it a five-star rating.

Ask the Community - Dim Sum King

How many can be seated in the Private dining room?

I believe the dining table can seat 10 or 12. It's a big table.

How can i make a reservation?

Give them a call to make reservation. You can also call to get a number for waitlist.

Is it open for indoor dining?

    yes

    Open for dine in?

Yes. We've had two meals of dim sum over the past three weeks. When you enter, each person must stand of a thermometer to be scanned. Once the entire party has been scanned, they can be seated.

Is this open during shelter in place?

Yes! And they just opened up last weekend for dine in, albeit socially distanced tables!

Do they have dim sum during dinner?

Went tonight (6/20/2021) we were told no more dim sum during dinner time. Hopefully, this is just a temporary thing.

    The services were really?

Ok, they forgot one item from our order, but didn't let us know until we asked. To make matters worse, they were going to charge us for the item. At the end, the bill was adjusted. The food has been consistently good.

We didn't have to wait long for a table; there were a few patrons here but it wasn't overly crowded. After we ordered, we didnt have to wait too long for our food to arrive, and when it did it was really good! The salt and pepper chicken wings had a nice crunch and were not overly salted, and the walnut prawns were delicious, and my boyfriend finished up their seafood porridge. The service here is quite good too; my boyfriend ordered the porridge and when it was delivered to our table, they even poured some in a smaller bowl for each of us which was nice. After our meal they even packed up our leftover food in to-go containers. The one thing though was that nearing the end of the meal I wasn't quite finished with my bowl of rice (I took a little break) but they mistakenly took it away assuming I was done. They didn't pack it with our other left-over food so they must have thrown it out :/ It would have been nice if they asked first before taking it, especially since there was still food in it. Overall, we had a really good experience here, both in regard to food and service.

They are located in a strip mall near several different food places, bakery, and a bowling alley. This is a solid dim sum place, with no frills and reasonable prices. You order off a printed menu that's in Chinese with tiny English subtitles. You can also order off their regular menu if you want to supplement the dim sum dishes. Their food is very good, and some dishes were excellent. The service was pretty quick, and before we knew it, all our dishes were out with almost no room on the lazy Susan. The standouts for me were: + Steamed custard buns (piggy buns) - I ordered these for the kiddies, but dang they are so good. The custard filling is so velvety, it's almost like pudding. I think I detected a hint of coconut too - yum. + Beef chow fun - this had a really good wok flavor and the noodles were less wide than most. The noodles didn't clump either, and the bean sprouts were still crispy. + Roasted pork belly - the skin was so crispy and the pork was juicy. We ordered most of the basic dishes like har gaw, sui mai, noodle rolls, turnip cake, stuffed eggplant, chicken feet, etc. and they were all above average. My only complaint is if you don't read Chinese, the menu is a little hard to navigate. The English subtitles are so small that if you're looking for something, you have to scan the front and back of the menu trying to find the item. I was looking for sticky rice in lotus leaf, but found sticky rice roll and thought it was the same thing. It wasn't. The sticky rice roll was not bad, but I found the rice drier than when it's in lotus leaf. We ordered a few things by mistake because the English subtitles were not that descriptive. Overall, a great alternative to more popular places like Koi Palace. The menu may not be as creative as Koi, but you don't have to deal with the lines and you still get great food.

We tried the BBQ Pork pastry, and it was flaky, flavorful, and just the right amount of sweet and savory--definitely recommend that one. Overall, we enjoyed almost everything we ordered. The only miss for us was one of the fried fish dishes and the green onion mantou, which was just okay. Would we come back? Absolutely. The service was efficient, the portions generous, and the food solid. Great spot if you're looking for dim sum that delivers on quality without the usual weekend chaos.

Most Chinese restaurants will accommodate a guest request so long as they have the ingredients and they know how to compose the dish. How they work out the pricing may be something else. At the table immediately behind my mom, I heard the guest ordering a Hot & Sour Soup, add Won Ton. One of my favorite mash-ups! We ended up having a very nice conversation over lunch. Of course, we ordered the same soup and the price they charged was a reasonable $16.95. I've had some places try to charge me for two soups which I think is ridiculous. He had the black bean spicy fish with white rice, and I chose the mapo tofu with fried rice. Each lunch came with tea, a cup of hot and sour soup, and an egg roll. The soup really stood out. It wasn't just a thin broth with a few scraps floating around. It was a genuine, comforting hot and sour soup with real ingredients in every spoonful. That alone made the meal feel thoughtful and complete. The portions were satisfying and well balanced, and everything arrived hot and fresh. My husband enjoyed his fish, which had good flavor and a nice texture. The mapo tofu was exactly how I like it. The tofu held its shape, which made a big difference. I do not enjoy overly soft tofu that falls apart, and this had a firmer bite that worked really well with the sauce. The dish was clean tasting, with a steady heat that was noticeable but not overwhelming. It had spice, but it did not overpower the dish or linger too aggressively. There was no pork, which I appreciated, and it still felt complete and satisfying without it. What made this meal especially meaningful for me is that I had just gotten out of the hospital a week ago after dealing with malnutrition, dehydration, and several health issues. I had not been eating well and had lost over 80 pounds in the past year. This was the first full, nourishing meal I have truly been able to enjoy in a long time. For the first time in months, I did not feel weak or fragile afterward. I felt full, steady, and strong. That kind of experience goes beyond just good food. It felt restorative. It felt like care. From what others often say, this place has built a strong reputation for bold Sichuan flavors that are still approachable. People tend to mention the generous portions, the consistent quality, and the fact that the spice levels are flavorful rather than overwhelming. It is the kind of spot that draws both regulars and first time visitors who are looking for something reliable and satisfying. Spicy House gave me more than just a meal. They gave me a moment of comfort and strength when I really needed it. We will absolutely be back.

But they still felt a little bit of tingling so we suspect there was more oyster sauce in the food than they let on. The restaurant was pretty empty, but it sometimes still took a little longer to get the server's attention, maybe because there are a lot of takeout orders. The restaurant is pretty nice inside and has plenty of seating, but there were a few tables with random stuff piled on them so maybe they were reorganizing or something
