Conveniently located at the center of a small strip mall situated at the corner. This is a small mom-n-pop establishment. We've come on several occasions for our breakfast take out. We have taken breakfast pastries, breakfast sandwich and kolaches and coffee. We have never been disappointed. Those large sized kolaches taste amazing! I lived in the area for almost a year and barely found out about this place last month. Been coming here almost frequently and I gotta say I love it. When I came the people at the front treated me with respect and welcomed me. Now I'm a regular here. The food taste great. The donhts I can definitely guarantee that they're made fresh every day and they do rotate by switching the donuts every hour or so. It's nice and quiet for a small morning stop to have breakfast/ lunch. They have a variety of options to drink and also offer a Lunch special which includes A burger of your choice, a drink, fries and also a donut and I personally think it's an amazing deal for 9.99+tax. I always come here with my little brother-in-law to enjoy our time together here in this establishment. Also there is a special breakfast in which you get either a biscuit or a croissant and a donut and drink. Just under $4 which is a really good deal. They're hamburgers are really good too. They sell a cheeseburger with fries, a drink, and a donut for $5.49. That's a deal you can't beat these days. The burger is pretty delicious. They also sell great kolaches in a variety of flavors. I live in Hornby Bend and there is just a handful of places nearby, we just tried this donut shop just this morning let's just say it may be small but the staff is so welcoming and the donuts taste amazing !! I learned about this place when the amazing Kelly S. Bookmarked it the night before I headed out to see my parents in Houston. I saw it and, based on the reviews, thought my parents would enjoy some fresh donuts to sweeten my visit. In a strip mall in nearly the middle of nowhere, this place was worth the detour. It was 6am and I walked in to the smell of warm donuts and coffee. The place was empty and I was promptly greeted with a smile. I requested 7 donuts (one was mine for the drive). I was informed that the glazed were JUST out of the oven, so of course I got a few of those included. I also got a chocolate covered, strawberry glazed, and sugar donut. That paired with an iced coffee - which is the only area this place is deficient (Regular mass brewed ok hot coffee just poured over ice). All for like $6. Woohoo! So, the donuts? I shoved that sugared one in my mouth as soon as I got back in the car. The glazed may have been just out of the oven but the sugared weren't much older. It was still warm and so so so fluffy and fresh. Not overly sweet with a great texture. Who can beat warm dough!! My parents (1.5 hours later) exclaimed that they were probably the best donuts they've had. And my Dad will find any excuse to run to Shipley's apparently. So Shipley's 0, Fresh Donuts 3. My Dad mentioned the strawberry glazed wasn't too artificial and no too sweet - so that's awesome. Mom said the chocolate glazed actually tasted like chocolate and not just sugar. Rating based on the classics, not the extras they serve (burgers, breakfast tacos, smoothies, etc.). Though, the burger and breakfast tacos more than hold their own. Anywho, this place makes an exceptional donut. Slight crispness on the exterior and a glaze that's not too sweet plus a chewy rich interior that gives you something to savor. The meat kolaches are amazing as well. Been several times in the few months I've lived in the area and I've never known them to serve one with any of the common kolache fails (overbaked, dry or "biscuity" dough, and dry or flavorless sausage). Only suggestion for improvement would be to start making the sausage in-house. Though, that's asking a lot from a mom and pop shop with two full time employees (seen a third person, but only once). That fifth star is for the service. The petite asian lady you'll typically see smiling as you enter or making friendly small talk with the "hang-abouters" is super sweet. Her husband (I assume), who is typically in the back working the grill, comes out when it gets busy and is very polite and welcoming as well. So, give 'em a try if you haven't already! I had the hamburger donut..the ground beef patty was cooked on the spot..which I would say makes a big difference...the quality of the ground beef was awesome and well seasoned..the donut was on point also..it never got soggy...The customer service was also 5 star very tentative and made sure I was ok with the wait and let me know I could call in the order in the future..So this is to the management..I not only liked the hamburger donut..I LOVED IT read more
