I have been to this place a couple of times before and it serves the same taste and same quality. When we went there yesterday, they were about to close but they allowed us to sit there and eat. The staff is very nice and polite. We ordered black bean burrito and tofu bean curd enchiladas and both were good. Since this place is near a college the price for both the dish was just 15$ which was reasonable. Would definitely recommend this place for take outs. read more

I ordered a tofu burrito for delivery. When I opened it, it looked like this (minus the bite at the top). The shell was soft and open, the juices inside the burrito leaked everywhere including my clothing. I'd have to agree with a few other reviews, i.e., I'd like to see a little more meat and a little less lettuce in my burrito. But beyond that, I like the place for what it gives you. That starts with a freshly made, lightly toasted tortilla - that's something that just has a really good "mouth feel," and just try getting that type of tortilla at a fast food place or burrito chain. It's also made quickly, almost as quickly as if I'd been going down a burrito assembly line. The price is reasonable, and the staff are very friendly. I haven't had enough similar food at nearby independent Mexican establishments, but it's hands down mucho mejor than the "Live Mas" stuff. read more

This taco spot is okay if you're in the mood for something quick and cheap. Definitely not real Mexican style tacos if that's what you're looking for. I have gotten a few tacos here and also their nachos. The food however is not made fresh to order, instead they have a small hot bar behind the counter where they scoop out the toppings/meat. The steak tacos are one of the better things on the menu since those are cooked on the grill to order. I noticed that when you get the ground beef (or Tex mex chili as they call it), they literally just scoop it and serve you which is sometimes questionable because who knows how long it could be sitting there? I've never seen this spot busy. I also realized that when you get the nachos they literally take a container pre packed with chips (honestly about 10) and put cheese on it before putting it in the microwave. Yes, the MICROWAVE! Soo strange, for all that it seems like you can just do it yourself at home. He then adds the meat and beans (which are like warm) before putting jalapeños. So delishious! So I didn't really know what to expect when we got to this small taco place. It's super cute, small and family owned. The tacos are super reasonable in price and they have a variety. They are cooked to order so they are super fresh and I loved that they come with salsa and sour cream if you want it! No extra fee for salsa and it really adds to the taste of the taco. I usually get the shrimp tacos but get at least two or three tacos the burritos are big but I prefer getting a few different tacos. Definitely recommend ! read more

This little hole in the walk is cute, but we had the tacos which were bla. Salty, flour tortillas, I prefer corn, and they had to make the pico de Gallo sauce which was too spicy. The service was ok, but it's a counter which is hard to mess up. At least there's seating outside, but it's right by the round about. Good, cheap food immediately across from the Vassar campus. Quesadillas are small but filling, burritos are large, nachos are mostly a good idea. The guacamole is nowhere near the best guac I've had, but it goes well with the food. There's not much more to say beyond it's awesome and tasty, except that it can take some time before the food is ready & it gets cramped with people waiting in that tiny space. Start with I ordered three ground beef tacos what I got was three tacos to go and they were 90% lettuce and 10% beef on the top! If I wanted a lettuce taco I would've ordered one. Best tortillas EVER. I'm a huge fan of burritos. And a huge fan of Fresco's burritos.. So I was sad to graduate and head back to San Francisco [well, not too devastated.. But every time I want a burrito, I miss Poughkeepsie]. I've substituted my burrito fix with Chipotle, but it just isn't the same. Even though Chipotle gives bigger burritos, the quality is just different. The chicken and tortillas that Fresco's provides is just so much better than other places. Everything seems so fresh and the portions are just perfect. I'm currently back in Poughkeepsie, visiting friends are Vassar and I tried a fajita for the first time and I was amazed. It was SO GOOD!
