Freight Haven Corporation is a small start-up freight broker spearheaded by a reliable, trustworthy fellow that has been our rep for many, many years when he had previously been a part of another freight broker, Epic Freight Solutions Inc, that was recently acquired by a much larger freight broker, Omni Logistics. This review is intended to be both a review about our rep who took care of us when he was formerly a part of Epic Freight Solutions as well as when he transitioned into Omni Logistics for a period of time but ultimately left the latter company to be a part of this new start-up company, Freight Haven Corporation, doing essentially the same thing.
In the interest of fairness, like all reps who have worked under a company and who had a boss above them, they obviously had rules to follow and thus, if they truly cannot make an exception to help us out on a rather dire shipping situation, they'll at least say so but will do other things to make it up to us in some way, which to me are some very nice gestures ang good relationship-building practices. Evan was one of those wonderful reps that we had worked with for many years and while yes, there were a few occasions where he couldn't follow through and help us out, I would say that, by and large, that he came through and helped our company like 98% of the time and the team that he led who are largely still a part of Omni Logistics still to this day were some of the most professional, customer-focused shipping specialists.
That being said, it would seem that a couple of the original team members from the former Epic Freight Solutions team had also left Omni and decided to join with Evan at this new start-up company. I want to stress here that because they are a new start-up company that their network of agents may not be as extensive as when they were originally a part of Epic Freight Solutions, which is now a part of Omni Logistics.
We decided to give them a couple of shipments as a 'trial run' to see if the same sort of consistency that was there when they were a part of Epic Freight Solutions as well as initially during their transition to Omni Logistics was still there and for the most part, I would certainly say so. In fact, their price points are pretty competitive--undercutting Omni and other freight brokers that we use by a considerable margin for certain regions of the USA. Since they are a start-up company, they don't have the often-times restrictive protocols and micromanagement practices in place that larger freight brokers have to have in place in order to maintain order and efficiency. And for that precise reason, you get a much more personalized sort of service that larger freight brokers are unable to provide due to their size.
In any case, that's just the natural course of things for any business once they've nailed down a working, sustainable business model so this isn't necessarily a negative thing. Althrough for the client accounts, such as us, who are now forced to use Omni since they acquired Epic Freight, the same sort of customer-focused service that we used to get has been largely lost and talking to the old Epic Freight team that are now a part of Omni Logistics all feel very robotic and impersonable. It feels like we're just a number to them now even though that's not the intention but because they are now 'Omni Logistics employees' they have to follow the new rules as laid out by the parent company and thus can only 'speak' to us a certain way, which genuinely sucks in many respects.
Getting back to Freight Haven Corp though, for me, I'm convinced that this is the new freight broker that our company should use going forward but alas, the powers that be have decided that since Epic is now a part of Omni, that it would be best that we stick it out with Omni as opposed to going to a smaller, start-up company for our shipping needs, which is a shame but that doesn't change how I feel about Freight Haven Corp. I would wholeheartedly use them for most of our shipping needs--provided that they take care of us as they did previously when they were under a different company--if I had the power and authority to make that call.
All that being said, if you're looking for a smaller freight broker that can offer you a more personalized shipping service for LTL & FTL for domestic and international shipments, I think Freight Haven Corporation is a worthy contender to consider when you have so many options to choose from.
