This, ladies and gentlemen is by no means coming from an expert....Just one family's recent, honest, real life experience After months of wondering why we were itchy, and our son complaining about "bites", we FINALLY figured out we had a bedbug infestation. Not knowing what to look for and having no experience with bedbugs, we were HORRIFIED to find out we had 'em "We are dirty...We are Disgusting!"..Then we talked to a relative, and a doctor friend, Professional family people with kids. Clean as clean can be. "Oh, We had bedbugs" Travel a lot?..Hi Risk...Movie theatre, school..Cna get them from ANYWHERE!!! The doctor: "TRAUMATIC....Absolutely the worst thing, outside of bad health, we EVER WENT THROUGH" First we called the clowns on TV "WITH THE DOGGY".. .1/2 hour, $3500.00+ $$$ as a quote !!!! threw a contract in my face.."Uh, I am not signing anything. We'll call you if we want your service" Next up, our local exterminator. Cheapest price, nice guy, worked with him before. My vibe was that he KINDA knew about bedbugs, but I wasn't satisfied that he REALLY knew a lot A friend then recommended, Caesar at FREEDOM Charge for consultation. Goes toward the price if you use FREEDOM. "OK, I thought", 'cause when I got off the phone with Caesar, I FELT like, "THIS IS THE GUY"..I was willing to throw the dice with Caesar...It FELT right... Caesar spent 2 HOURS in the house...The guy is a friggin' BEDBUG lunatic..and I say that with love..He's the guy you WANT. He LIVES bedbugs. Knows their history, all habits.. Unbelievably thorough ....Neighborhood, NYC kinda guy.....Like I grew up with....Not a uniform wearing expert from TV UPDATE Hired 2 people, along with my wife and I, 2 days, filled 70 CONTRACTOR (huge heavy duty black BAGS!!!,) full of everything we have ever owned. All clothes went into HI HEAT DRYER....Then all 35 bags (35 in garbage,) YAY bedbugs, we FINALLY did a spring cleaning, went on our terrace...Our life was on our terrace... Caesar and his assistant went to work..."Minefields" were put in place Freezing/& natural sprays used We lived like this for 2 weeks..Couch TOO INFESTED...In the GARBAGE!!! After 2 weeks, Caesar and his assistant came back to lay more minefields.. "You are their food. They only want your blood,. That's why they don't hang in the kitchen or bathroom...They like where you sleep and hang out the most. Bedroom, living room. To get their food (you!) they now have to go through my minefields." After 2 weeks, EVERYTHING in the 35 bags, went back in the house....4 people 2 more days of work....u have 48 hours, so if any are alive, they are most likely gonna die, on their way to you Guess what? Caesar was closer to 100% right, than he was 99%....a month later, and we have only seen 3 DEAD bedbugs..All in the first week... Ordered a NEW COUCH Must have texted Caesar 50 times, called 10....Available!!!, gets back as soon as he possibly can. He would have come a third time if need be to do more work Price: In between the cheap guy who didn't seem to know much, and the TV star for a million dollars (Where's the cute doggy?) Jeez, what ad money will get you! Affordable, by all means, IF you factor into the equation, you are going to get RID of YOUR PROBLEM (My experience!) Also, you can hire Caesar's people to professionally bag up everything(4 days of TORTURE, TRUST ME) for an affordable price.... First, I want to apologize to Cesar because this review is way, way overdue. It's been a little over a year since the bedbug nightmare first began. My husband and I were getting bitten but had no idea what was doing the biting. I was allergic to the bites and the nurse practitioner in my doctor's office assured me that it was not bedbugs. "It's not the right bite pattern" she said. WRONG. I finally saw one of the little buggers on a dust cloth and called a friend who had had the problem several years ago. She directed me to Cesar and I'll be forever in her debt! Cesar talked to me on the phone for quite some time, told me what to look for, his prices and procedures. Then he came in and did a complete inspection. Instantly I felt we were in good hands. He was knowledgeable, efficient and thorough. Explained exactly what we had to do and why. We explained that, now that we knew what and where the problem was, we had to go through our landlord. The landlord insisted on using his own exterminator who came in with ineffective product, mishandled the mattress and completely botched the job making a bad situation worse. Enter Cesar. He came back immediately. He told us how to pack things up and all the steps we had to take including detailed instructions on how to heat our clothes to the right temperature in the Bugzapper, checking books, old furniture, closets, etc. AND he told us what not to do. I was about at the end of my rope. He was patient and reassuring and answered all calls and texts. If he was so great, then why is this review so late, you ask? I think it's taken me this long to believe that we no longer have the problem. Honestly, I don't think I've been bitten since a week or two after the treatments. But every little bump I found was attributed to a bedbug. I truly hate crawly things. Bottom line: Cesar offered awesome service. He knows his stuff backwards and forwards. I felt that for the few weeks we dealt with him he made us family members. I couldn't have asked for more. I would call him again in a heartbeat but hope I never have to. And, yes, I hate even mentioning that I had bedbugs. But it's better to deal problem properly and give your community a chance to do the same than to pretend that nothing ever happened. THANKS Cesar! I used freedom and I am sorry to say I am not impressed. He spent less time inspecting than lecturing on how great he is! His actual job, standard compared to others we have had to try to solve our bedbug problem. Our problem is they go into hiding and wait the treatment out. Freedom does not resond to calls, emails, texts. I guess he is very busy and he got all his money. Talking about money he took 3x more than other pest exterminators. One K for one room. I've had bedbugs twice, in different apartments, in unrelated cases. Cesar took care of me both times. I highly recommend him, or at least, that you do thorough research to get a well-recommended expert to get the job done right. I've learned through Cesar and through researching other operations (such as the ones my landlords have recommended as well as other, cheaper solutions) that a bad job is not only likely to spread the problem to adjacent apartments--which means the bugs will be back eventually to visit you--but is also likely to use chemicals that are toxic to humans and, even more so, pets. If you live in an apartment, you may want to work out a deal with your landlord, like I did. Insisting that I use Cesar because my roommate has serious allergies, my landlord agreed to pay their usual contracting price ($650) and I paid the difference. This way I knew it would be done right, and safely. I can say with confidence that Cesar is one of the top experts in the NYC area. I've read articles about him and his face is on the cover of Pest Management Professional (yes, the industry has its own peer-reviewed journal!). Through Cesar I've also learned quite a lot about bedbugs, habits that can attract bedbugs, and about safe chemicals. He's passionate about his work and is excellent at explaining any details that can help customers learn. He's intensely absorbed in doing an excellent job, as one must be, I think, because exterminating bedbugs is very difficult. The reason I'm stressing all this is that, perhaps more than anything, bedbugs are a menace to the mind. When you have someone who can explain things like Cesar and assure you that it'll get handled right, you can begin to regain peace of mind over the coming weeks and months. Apart from his competence, knowledge, and passion--Cesar has excellent customer service skills. He's salt-of-the-earth and a courteous person; he's honest (e.g., he let me know that my landlords are obliged to exterminate for free when I first called him); he's sensitive to your budget and does not overcharge or nickel and dime; and best of all, he tells you that he's in this with you and assures you he will take care of your problem for good. The only thing I can say about Cesar that is less than superlative is that on occasion it takes him two or three days to return your calls. (Only occasionally, and he does follow up religiously after your treatments). At the time, though, it can be difficult because, as I said, your mind goes nutty knowing that everyday the problem's getting worse. Probably, the New York area is quickly learning what precious a commodity Cesar is, and it makes him incredibly busy. He's so valuable in my opinion that I almost don't want to sing his praises so loud, for fear he'll be unavailable if I ever need him again. He really knows his stuff and hands down can give you answers that other exterminating companies couldn't answer. I utilized this company to get rid of a bed bug infestation. I despise pests and have 1 infant and a newborn which makes matters worse. Cesar took this into consideration and acted promptly. Following the inspection, he made himself available the next day. I was very satisfied with the type of service this company provided. Cesar was courteous, easily accessible and responsive (in person and via cell!) to all of my questions despite the paranoia. He was thorough in explaining the procedure and the types of chemicals utilized to exterminate. The chemicals were natural which are just as effective as harsh ones, but safe for the kids.
