Pest pro was worth it for a small mouse problem and minor roaches. I talked to a young man on the phone at length before the appointment. I explained that the technician must arrive prepared to assess and treat in ONE appointment. I specified that he must move appliances, stuff gaps with steel wool, get under radiator covers and plug holes with foam-- no more but no less than that. Pest pro was the third place I called and the only place that was willing to meet my requirements of coming prepared to plug up and treat. The other two places said they needed to do an assessment which in my experience can mean just forcing you to pay and stay home all day twice instead of once. The person who showed up was new to the job but came prepared as requested and did a great job. They plugged behind my stove, placed traps behind my fridge, plugged under several radiators, and left glue traps out. In the end a wooden trap that I placed caught the mouse and I haven't seen another since. I'm pretty certain that the kitchen mice were coming in behind the stove which pest pro mouse-proofed well. It was $325 in the end but it only took one appointment and the problem is totally solved so I would use them again, though I don't think I'll have to because they really sealed up the place and recommended some follow ups which I can do myself for larger holes that they couldn't handle wit steel wool and foam. read more

I reached out to Pest Pro recently after a strange conversation with my building exterminator who wasn't willing to let me pay him for additional services. I've recently had an influx of German roaches after living in my building for 4+ years with almost no issues. It's an older building, so there are plenty of opportunities for roaches to enter - I guess I've just been lucky. John was extremely helpful over the phone and a great communicator. The technician he sent to my apartment was also very helpful and thorough. They were able to identify that my apartment was free of roaches and that they were entering from outside my unit, which was helpful. My landlord has since helped me plug up some of the holes. It seems to be helping, but it's going to take time. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars, is because I believe they could be more clear on their pricing model. The range I was quoted for the square footage of my apartment was wide: $175-315 plus tax. Even though I ended up having no roaches for the technician to kill after the treatment, my cost still ended up being $315+. I was a little upset to pay so much only to be told I have no roaches, so John did bring the price down to $299. I still think the way they price their services could be more clear, so that customers have a better sense of what they are paying for up front and that they feel they can trust the business. read more

Pricing is opaque, exorbitantly expensive, and out of sync with the scope of services provided. The exterminator visited for approximately 15 minutes, laid some paper traps, utilized spray, and stuffed a hole with steel wool and I was charged a whopping $275 equating to ~$18 per minute for my less than 400 square foot apartment. Furthermore, the inspection was not thorough and missed multiple key areas where insect droppings were later found. John would not provide an itemized invoice detailing what I was charged for so it is difficult to get a sense for what I am actually being charged for. We'd never experienced any crazy pest problems (thankfully, knock on wood) until recently when we noticed some termite mud tunnels forming on the ceiling of one of our rooms. Irony of knocking on wood while the termites are eating away huh... So you can imagine how anxious I got seeing the termites building their tunnels just above our heads. Highly recommend using Pest Pro. I saw two cockroaches in late May and absolutely lost my mind. I was terrified for weeks of seeing another one. I finally decided to pay for an exterminator and it was 10000% worth it. Josh, my technician, was so knowledgable and patient as I had a million questions due to my obsessive internet research on roaches. He took the time to go through my apartment and tell me about problem areas as well as solutions. We found the spot where the two roaches came through and he sealed them up. He also taught me a lot about building infrastructures (told you I was obsessive about this) and what I should be looking for in any future apartments. It kind of felt like therapy, to be honest. All I can say is WOW!! So this is my first review ever but I felt the need to go this far!! I was BLOWN away by the service I received from Pest Pro. They set up an appointment for me the very next day after my call. Then they sent the most caring, informative, and kind exterminator I have ever met!!! I discovered carpet beetles in my apartment (they go for wool, cashmere, essentially your top things lol) and I was obviously frantic. I have a lot of clothes and a lot of closets. I had a previous exterminator come that barely explained anything to me and just made me panic. When Josh arrived everything changed!! I was calm, he explained everything, we didn't find one anywhere after I cleaned. He stayed for 3 hours!!! Never complaining! My owner contracted Pest Pro to exterminate bedbugs in my apt. The team sprayed the floors and furniture in every room and hallway twice in 2-weeks intervals. Now, that might seem standard/normal, but it's the post-service care which assures me that this extermination company is legit and honest. After 4 weeks of living out of plastic bags and bins, I found a lone bedbug crawling on the bedroom floor-- clearly an adult but without the glut of blood. Paranoid, I called Pest Pro and spoke to John, who patiently explained the causes of bedbug presence and explained my options. All throughout the treatment, he has been communicating with my owner and building management to thoroughly address not only the bedbug in my unit but also to follow through with the surrounding units to ensure the hygiene and safety of all. It might be obvious and the norm for some, but in my experience, but I haven't had the best experience in customer service and integrity from most businesses, regardless of the type of business and cost in NYC, unfortunately. Pest Pro and John are the exception to the bad businesses I've experienced. Extermination is emotionally exhausting, and John assuaged my fears. Lacking Professional Customer Service -- If it was yesterday or a year or two or three does not make your false statements any less a lie. And yes, I moved into a building that had bugs and as soon as I could get out of the lease I left from the building because it had bugs. Which your company is supposed to take care of and why I had to take a day off from work that day to wait for your company to do what the building pays you to do but it was a no show, which is why there was a complaint. But you again instead of taking the responsible approach like a normal professional place would... you decided to retaliate with lies, be patronizing and place blame on the customer, be condescending, demeaning, disrespectful and self righteous. You are a bully in ever sense of the word and no matter how many lies you make up to try to divert from the truth - the truth is still that. And for the record your company was there to handle a long standing issue. I had to stay home because of this issue, then ultimately, I needed to move because of that issue. All those months and your company could not fix the problem. I've lived in 2 other amazing building in midtown & UES and none of them had bug problems... John and his team were great! We were sure we had bedbugs and John spent at least twenty minutes with us on the phone explaining, reassuring, educating us. John recommended sending out our clothes etc. to a special laundry for heat treatment. What to do about our electronics. This was during full lockdown and we hadn't had anyone come into the apartment. We scheduled an inspection. Josh, the technician, disinfected himself at our door, wore a mask and maintained social distance. Josh determined we had pigeon mites from an empty nest on our windowsill. After we had the nest removed, Josh returned to spray and bomb our apartment. That night, the mites were gone and two weeks later all is well! Thought he charged us fairly - it's not an inexpensive thing so you want to go with someone you trust. And I probably called John 5x a day with questions and he was always patient and very nice. Is it possible to love your exterminator? I just might. My experience with pest control over 40 years of urban living has been mostly bad, and I really can't speak highly enough about this particular PestPro visit. The guy on the phone, John, couldn't have been more courteous in letting me describe the problem and scheduling the visit. He even called when his technician was running late. The technician, Albert, was wonderful, and took lots of time to show us where roaches were hanging out. Cell phone pictures of the area right under the sink! (Gross.) He pronounced our "sanitation" unproblematic, but showed us how we were providing "harborage" in file boxes on top of the cabinets (stored cooking utensils). And he applied gel and spray and a few "roach motels" to help assess our progress. Really, he couldn't have been more helpful. read more

After reading my review, John, the owner, dealt with me personally to deal with my issue and spent a bunch of time listening to my issue regarding the service I received and then spent time listening to the issue with my living space and the issues with the critters. After the tech visited my home and inspected it thoroughly, John called me and explained the situation with my apt., the cleanliness of my building, and the surrounding neighborhood. It's too bad the landlord doesn't get directly involved in the maintenance of his building and protecting his investment. I would recommend using his services highly!
