Before deciding on this company, I called two other local companies, both of which were expensive and were insisting upon a canine inspection. After reading other 5-star reviews for Northeastern Exterminating, I decided to give them a call, and I'm glad I did. I explained my issue to Joe, who worked to calm my nerves about this situation and thoroughly explained everything that would occur with his company's home inspection, to be performed by his son, James. I wanted an appointment ASAP, and although Joe could only offer me an appointment for several days later, he assured me that he would keep my number at the ready just in case they had a cancellation. The night before my inspection, I received a text message from James confirming the time he would arrive, the price that was agreed upon, and simple instructions for how to prep for the inspection. The next morning, I received another text about an hour before the scheduled time to pinpoint the exact time he would be arriving - which is insanely helpful and courteous. Upon arrival, right on time, James asked me about my situation and immediately got to work performing a thorough and comprehensive inspection of the three bedrooms in my house, from floor to ceiling. The bed, box springs, bed frames, baseboards, etc. everything was carefully inspected while he explained what he was doing, what he was looking for, and even what I could do in the future to put my mind at ease. They were able to set up an appointment that worked with my schedule for the following day (instead of my taking the whole day off from work). John was prompt, thorough, and answered all my questions. Our initial experiences with Northeastern Exterminating were good, as we had an issue with water bugs that they resolved. James was responsive and offered good customer service. Some months later, after discovering a rodent issue, we texted the company to have James come back, and we received an accidental reply from his father Joe that was very off putting and unprofessional. After discussing the situation with James more in depth, we understand that he is the primary person dealing with customers, and he apologized for the issue with Joe, which we appreciate it. And their quote was super reasonable! James was fantastic helping me with my bed bug (non-)situation. After finding a single live bug in a strange place, I freaked out and got an inspection from a different company. They have tons of great reviews and they come and do a canine inspection. Note at this point we had no other evidence of bugs, no bites on anyone, etc. Long story short, they claimed to find evidence in my couch (which no one else could see) and recommended very expensive (above market) treatment. While under the influence of fear I threw away my couch, but before accepting their treatment I listened to that little voice in my head telling me something was wrong, and went back to Yelp to find that other people had similar odd experiences with them, and decided on a second opinion. While looking for another company, I found Northeastern, read every review, and found that one of them even sounded like my situation. So I reached out, explained what happened, and got another inspection. James did an incredibly thorough inspection, looked under/inside everything, checked every nook; I was super impressed by his professionalism and dedication. It was night and day compared the other place. And I was happy to hear that there was nothing here (and likely never was). Most termite treatments are super-nasty chemicals, but when I found one that is *effective, *people-safe, and *eco-friendly (ALTRISET). I couldn't find a single exterminator that had used it, but Joe was thoughtful and open and offered to use it with a two-year warranty (!!). I am adding my excellent review to all the others that James and Northeastern Exterminating have gotten. Yikes! My tenants on the 3rd floor got bedbugs. They hired a bogus exterminating company, and 6 weeks later, my 2nd floor tenants got them. That is when I found, James, from Northeastern Exterminating who treated the problem and resolved it once and for all. Right away, he put everyone in the building (who were all freaking out) at ease. His patience, good listening skills, diligence, understanding and professionalism immediately came through. He spent lots of time inspecting my tenants' apartments and helped them by explaining all of the prepping that was necessary, before expertly dealing with the problem. It has been over a month, and he just came back and re-inspected. Fortunately, there are no longer any signs of bedbugs. He will return in a month to check again, to make sure. I can't express enough how helpful and professional the team at Northeastern Exterminating was to us. Northeastern Exterminating is a very professional company to work with. Fantastic customer service. Very easy to talk to and reasonably priced. I have heard of bed bugs and have seen documentaries about them and it scares the hell out of me. You never know who has it or if you are sitting next to someone on the bus or subway and one of those little suckers jump on to you and you bring it into your own home or if you invite someone into your home and they unintentionally bring them into your home. I definitely want this company on my speed dial. We had someone who had a bed bug problem but it was caught quickly. We made an appointment immediately and James came in and did a very thorough inspection unfortunately, he did find a problem. We scheduled to get the persons apartment treated ASAP. James then goes through the process of telling you how and what to do to prepare the apartment before treatment. James came back for the second scheduled appointment to treat the apartment. You cannot stay in the apartment during treatment and you have to stay out of your place for a few hours after treatment. I have to say that this person has not had any other problems with bed bugs after his apartment was treated. I will definitely use this company for all future extermination needs. read more

As someone who doesn't like poison being sprayed in the house, I cannot believe I am writing a 5 star review for an exterminator! But the experience I had with James was truly beyond 5 stars. First off, his communication is excellent from the first message I write here on YELP to a written thank you note I received in the mail after his visit. While he was here, he inspected my entire house, placed the poison carefully into cracks and crevices and was extremely attentive to the fact that I was scared my dog would ingest some of the poison. I called Northeastern the same afternoon I found a bed bug crawling on my sheets (yuck!). Hearing about the ordeal from friends who have gone through the whole bed bug experience, I was so anxious and wanted someone to come take care of the issue ASAP. I spoke to Joe over the phone and he was incredibly knowledgeable and said that he would squeeze me in the next morning and come by himself. Joe arrived the next morning right on time, took a look around my studio, and got to work telling me what needed to be done, how long it would take, what chemicals he was using, etc. We got along so well, and I stayed in the apt. for over 20 minutes just talking to him and helping him search for the nasty culprits. I left for an hour and came back to find a job well done. Joe had treated every surface and went above and beyond by doing extra work in several areas (even getting rid of a small ant problem he noticed as well). This review is long overdue! Should have written this review last year but never quite got around to it. Background: A year ago, there was the whole N-Train bed bugs news that really freaked me out. Around the same time, I had some mysterious bite marks near my upper thigh (in hind sight, I believed it was a very vicious mosquito that got trapped underneath my blankets and then went feasting). The combo of the bites and the N-Train bed bugs scare has left me sleepless for many nights so I decided to fork over the money and get professional help. I did a lot of yelp-research to find the best pest control company that has high reviews and is affordable-Northeaster Exterminating came up. I gave them a call and they were super courteous and helpful. In fact, the owner allowed me to share my fright and diagnosed that I probably didn't have a bed bug infestation if I only had a one time incident a month ago. He also provided some strategies I can try on my own to see if an inspection is truly necessary, which I so appreciate. In the end, though I didn't exactly see signs of potentially having bed bugs, I decided to do the inspection anyway because I just needed the peace of mind and they were quick to help me set one up. James provided the inspection and was very polite, patient, and thorough in his services. He answered all my questions and made me feel at ease. Overall, Northeastern has been superb! I can't recommend them enough. Well, it has been about two months since my unfortunate incident with none other than...bed bugs, and I am happy to say that they are still gone! YAY! I was horrified, mortified and paranoid when I first discovered that I had them. Luckily, it wasn't an enormous infestation, but nonetheless it freaked me out. I pride myself on being extremely cautious, clean and preventative when it comes to buggyness. So I never thought that this would crawl across my radar, but it did. Bed bugs, no one wants to admit it and especially at first you don't believe. These guys are the real deal, father son combo with exceptional interpersonal skills. After a few weeks of trying to combat the problem myself and a nagging pregnant wife I submitted.
