We reached out to Alleycat Exterminating when we began to have some more visitors in our apartment of the mouse and roach variety after our cat died. Don talked my husband through some steps we could take to try and plug any holes and fix the issue on our own if we wanted to but after finding a few more bugs we decided to make an appointment to have professionals help. Lauren stopped by, did a thorough check of our whole apartment, and ended up calling in someone else to bring additional materials to help ensure our problems were solved. Both she and her husband (it's a family business!) did a great job explaining what they were doing, what they were using, and answer any questions we had. The traps they leave behind and poison they use are childproof and pet safe, and also placed in ways to limit chances of small kids or pets to even get to them. Their fee was incredibly reasonable, they're communicative, and I finally feel like I can sleep a little easier. They'll be coming back to check-in in a few weeks to make sure there are no new signs of anything and discuss any next steps as needed but we are feeling optimistic and taken care of by friendly, reasonable professionals. Very much recommend them! read more

He took care of the problem, the intruder was apprehended and dealt with within 24 hours.

Had a little Mickey running around the apartment and found Alley Cat on the forums. Scott came out less than an hour after I called and spent the next 2 hours showing us spaces that I had never even seen before for one to come through! He sealed up every single space thoroughly and laid down decent traps and bait. Knocking Wood but so far it's been Good! Also gave us photos of the evidence for us to present to the LandLords and 311 when they come out, which will be so helpful. Worth every penny. read more

I used Alleycat Exterminating for an ongoing mice issue that I have tried to tackle on my own without success. Don who came was very punctual. Answered all my questions as well as providing assurance that for the $280 that I paid, there's 30 days guarantee. Meaning he will return free of charge within that 30 days if the problem persists. I am very happy with his services and will definitely recommend him to anyone who needs it. read more

Alleycat Exterminating - Mice caught with his "special mix". - Pest Control Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Alleycat was amazing and so consoling for my mice (and landlord) induced ragged piece of mind. I worked with Lauren and her husband. They quickly assessed the situation, answered all my questions, filled all the holes and administered mice catching "stations." Although I continue to be skeptical about the mice, I haven't seen anymore and am comforted that I can call them for the next 30 days. Love that they are Brooklyn locals, family run and affordable. SO worth the cost! read more

In our experience, we found Don and Alleycat to be the absolute best exterminator when dealing with rodents for at least a few reasons: 1. they're incredibly responsive 2. they're passionate about the work that needs to be done and making people's lives' more comfortable 3. they're effective in their problem solving (and creativity) 4. they've asked us for $0 after a month working together even though I've offered to throw money their way a few times! Note: I think the reason they haven't charged us is that Don gave me all the advice via text and I executed it. This was my first time having to deal with rodents directly as my wife and I just bought a place last year. Usually we'd just ask our landlord to deal with it but the onus was on us this time. I used to be terrified of rodents until now. Backstory: We found out in December we had rodents going into our basement drop ceiling because our neighbor's shared party wall had openings in their foundation and their own basement walls. So we could hear the rodents scratching and gnawing their way in there as it got colder outside and knew something was going on. Luckily we had a speaker in the ceiling so I brought it down and lo and behold - rodent droppings and chewed up insulation came down with it. I was thoroughly disgusted, dismayed, I thought my life was gonna end right there. I placed a video camera up there and closed it back up to see what they were getting up to. I also called up a few exterminators in late December and then I found Don. He picked up right away even though he was under the weather, my wife and I described the issue to him. First off, Don helped build confidence - he told us we've got this - I couldn't comprehend exactly what he meant but it was nice to hear that he wasn't as worried as I was! Over the next month, Don guided us on what to do along the way. Why was it taking so long to eradicate the issue? We had to work offense and defense at the same time: while we were aggressively placing 10-12 snap traps in the ceiling to combat any rodents (from where the speaker was and we also created an access panel), we also had to work with our neighbor to close up any outdoor entry points. Luckily, we've had an awesome neighbor who has been collaborative about fixing the problem. One of our favorite parts was the approach that Don had: he told us exactly which traps to get on Amazon and then when it came to the bait he told us the types of smoked meats, fruits, dark chocolate, oils, etc. to use and they worked! I always thought peanut butter was the main option, but it actually wasn't that effective in this case. Buffet approach is the way to go. Anyway, you might be horrified to know that over a few weeks I caught a couple of dozen rodents this way during the winter. At one point I thought about waking up every morning and putting on warpaint before heading down there I was so adamant about battling them. Now, we don't see any signs of rodents at all anymore, and we're taking additional steps to make sure it's all fixed for the long term. Definitely, absolutely couldn't have been able to do this mentally or physically without Don. You'll be lucky to work with him and team. You don't have to approach it the way we did, but hopefully you find comfort in knowing they know what the hell they're doing and aren't trying to rip you off doing it. We are now customers for life and looking forward to hiring them for future projects. read more

We met Lauren & Scott after our building-provided services weren't up to par. They were professional, reassuring, diligent, left no stone unturned... providing our home with pest-free peace and our sanity in check! We now have added AlleyCat to our rotation of seasonal upkeep services - and believe it or not, we now actually enjoy their visits lol. Highly highly recommend to everybody, for all needs! read more

2024 Update: I'm still in the same apartment in Williamsburg and had another mouse problem that no maintenance folks could figure out or diagnose. I found this contact for Alley Cat from years ago -- and this time Scott and Lauren came by. They were incredibly thorough, wise, and kind. If you had ever told me I could laugh during a rodent infestation I would say you were nuts, but Scott and Lauren combine their professionalism with humor and humanity. It took a couple times to find the hidden hole where the mouse was coming through, but they did find it. I am writing after having gone 2.5 weeks without any more unwanted visits. I am glad I stuck with Alley Cat and am keeping them on emergency dial just in case. Highly HIGHLY recommend to others. read more

Don is literally the best exterminator in Brooklyn but almost more importantly, he's a gem of a person. He know's exactly where to look and the nature of different building structures in Brooklyn, a true and tried expert who doesn't cut corners! I first used his services in my old apartment when I lived alone and had a mouse problem. My landlord's crappy exterminator didn't solve the problem. Don came in, made me laugh, put me at ease and resolved the issue in one visit. My current apartment with my husband is older and we've basically seen mice once a year. Our current landlord's exterminator is NEVER able to solve the issue so we end up calling Don about once a year. He comes over, fixes the shoddy work that the other guy did and we don't see a mouse for a whole year. I never thought I'd say I'm looking forward to my exterminator coming over but every time, he puts a smile on our faces! He told me his kids are now expanding the business to different areas of the NYC and Jersey and from all the stories I've heard about them, I bet they're just as great. read more

Just had Don by this morning to help out with a mouse problem. Great service and very knowledgeable. It's important to understand: when you call, you get Don. When Alleycat comes by, it's Don. You pay Don. There's no nonsense going through an intermediary, having "one of their technicians come out". It's all Don. And Don is great. read more

Don and Lauren are both so amazing! I've had difficulties because of neighbors with rodent issues and they have been persistent in the best way--problem-solving ways to resolve the issue. And even setting up a trail cam to make sure we understand the source and problem so that they can eradicate. I'm so grateful for them! read more

Don at Alleycat is incredible. Years ago he did a visual inspection to confirm a case of bedbugs and was so calm and kind to my very freaked out roommates and I. Don throughly inspected every bed room and living room and did it with patience and kindness while I asked a multitude of questions. Because my landlord had their own exterminator I wasn't able to use Alley Cat for the service but I wish we could have. Since then Alley Cat has been my go to for any pest questions which has included sending photos of bugs and every time i get a prompt clear response. Alleycat is the only exterminator I recommend to my friends! read more

Prompt, communicative and thorough! I have never written a Yelp review before, but had to vouch for this company because mice can be so hard to deal with in NYC! I spoke to Don who told me about their mouse service, and had his daughter who works for him reach out to me immediately. We were able to schedule the appointment for them to come inspect our building easily over text, and Lauren texted me the night before to confirm the appointment. I wasn't able to be onsite the day of the appointment, so had the tenant who spotted the mouse in her apt. let Lauren in. Although we had treated the entire building for mice before, including stuffing all holes in the walls with steel wool, Lauren quickly found a hole we had missed, and not only did she plug the hole, but she checked all the holes I had plugged as well and added some copper mesh to all areas to make sure the mice couldn't get back in. I highly recommend Alleycat for any mouse issues you may be having! read more

Donnie is the best! Extremely responsive, effective, and thorough. Also a lovely guy.

I am so happy that I reached out to Don at Alleycat! He quickly responded to my request and advised on the exact type of pest, when it had previously been misidentified by my veterinarian. He was also very fair in providing an estimate for treatment. While I am not sure about moving forward with professional treatment for this issue, I would definitely choose Alleycat for all of my exterminator services. Thank you so much, Don! read more

We have used Alleycat for a few issues over the years (both mice and bugs) and have always had a great experience with Alleycat. Don has come to help us and is always very friendly and helpful. I had a an amazing experience with Don from Alleycat. I was desperate finding a real exterminator expert to get rid of the mice at home. Before finding Don I called other companies that did not do much than adding poison and glue stickers.. hopefully I found Alleycatt on Yelp. Don came 2 days after my request and fixed everything! Found and Sealed holes and added traps. Results after 2 weeks I don't have any mice!! And it's been 2 years that we were dealing with this issue. Thx Don!! We had been hearing mice in our kitchen in Brooklyn for a few weeks and when we woke up to holes in our bread bag it was the last straw. We called Don- who was super helpful- and gave us some suggestions to try over the phone. He was so nice, patient, not trying to sell us anything and seemed to want us to try and solve the problem on our own. We ended up catching some of the mice with Don's suggestions but in a few weeks they were back. Don came over right after i called, checked the entire kitchen, basement, yard and house perimeter for holes. Added steel wool where needed, did a poison treatment, and was super helpful, nice, and an all around pleasant person. Mouse was caught and gone that night. Prices are super reasonable - will not hesitate to call Don next time we have a rodent issues. read more

Don is my hero. I've had a terrible mouse problem since November. I tried a different exterminator a couple times and they still kept coming. I messaged Don on Yelp and he came by a couple days later and sealed any holes he saw, put poison boxes everywhere and told me they'd be gone in 2 weeks. He's also a sweetheart. Exactly 2 weeks later they were gone. When one popped up a few days later he came by for free to inspect everything again and reassured me it would gone soon too. It's been a week without mice and I'm so grateful to have my apartment free of squeaks and droppings. Don is the best! read more

Don Clark came to my apartment to deal with mice six or seven years ago, and he was one of the most impressive professionals I have ever worked with. When I spotted a mouse a few days ago I contacted Alleycat immediately. Alleycat is a shining example of why family-run businesses can reach such a high bar of excellence. Go nowhere else for pest control. read more

I called Don who kindly informed me that he serviced the Brooklyn area- fact that I already suspected. As we know, Brooklyn is the New York City borough that has the largest geographic area, so it is totally understandable that he may not be available for other locations. Anyone else would have ended the phone conversation at that point, but he genuinely wanted to help me. He generously shared his time and unparalleled wisdom. Coming across as a total gentleman with impeccable listening skills, I did not even notice when roles reversed as he began asking me questions. I never felt judged or concerned he would dismiss any novice attempts to resolve an unprecedented situation. By the end of the delightfully useful exchange of ideas, he recommended a gem of a person who did not let Donnie down. However, Don asked me to "please" call him back if the geographically closer recommendation did not respond in the expected timeframe. Good people associate with good people so that was not the case for the record. As one reviewer stated, this transparent sense of ethical business practices makes global citizens proud to support small business owners whose mission it is to help and not progress at our financial and psychological expense. read more

My roommates and I have called Don a few times at this point, and while I wish we weren't having to call an exterminator at all, he makes it such a pleasant experience each time. In addition to the fact that he is meticulous and thorough, he is also incredibly personable and kind. While he is going through cabinets, laying traps and spraying, he will walk you through the science and technicalities of what he's doing. You gain knowledge of what exactly it is you're up against with the given pest, and he demystifies the process, which is so reassuring and really makes the whole problem seem less daunting. Not to mention he's got stories for days! In one visit he eliminated our mouse problem, and has been very on top of the ongoing roach issue. Don is such a gem, and we couldn't recommend him more highly. read more

Don! Don is a lifesaver. When I found a bedbug on my wall, I texted a picture to Don. He replied right away (and confirmed that it was a bedbug), and so I gave him a call to schedule treatment -- and mentioned that, oh, by the way, we've had German roaches terrorizing us for seven months, too. He showed up to address both issues, and made sure I knew what he was doing every step of the way -- in fact, he suspected the lone bed bug had traveled from a neighbor, and took the time to show me exactly where he thought it had come from (a light switch on a shared wall), then treated the area. Now, here's the part where I tell you that I've had four -- four! -- exterminators treat for German roaches, and that I was starting to accept the fact that I'd be living alongside them forever. Don came in though and treated every cabinet in the kitchen (he even took them off the hinges to treat and then put them back on), along all the baseboards, and around all the appliances. He showed me where roaches tend to hide, and pointed out areas of concern -- physically, with a flashlight, making sure that I could see, too. When he came for the two-week follow up, he let me know what we were looking for, and how he could tell that things were improving. These roaches are an issue long embedded in our building, and Don took the time to figure out a plan -- and assured me that a roach free future is possible! (And for what it's worth, I've not seen another bed bug since his first spray.) On top of his meticulous work, Don is warm and kind and personable (and funny -- and it's nice to laugh when you're looking for roaches in your kitchen, trust me). For the first time in dealing with an exterminator, I feel heard. He told me when we spoke on the phone that first time that he was personally invested in helping me solve my roach problem, and I know now that he truly meant it. You're not going to find anyone better for the job, I promise! read more

Amazing service, very helpful, was easy to communicate with, assisted in identifying a specific insect, honest, quick to respond.

Don Clark did a great job in the basement. He did a thourough job disinfecting and cleaning. A true mensch.

We had a small mouse problem and we called an exterminator service. About a month later, we wanted to make sure that we were all clear so we called Don from Alleycat. Don came on the same day, he checked the corners, he looked behind the stove. He said that the problem had been resolved. He didn't even charge my mom for the visit. He is a very kind, honest man, which can be hard to come by in this town. Hopefully I won't have to call another exterminator service but if I do, I will definitely be calling Don! read more

We have worked with Don for a few years and it has always be a pleasure. He has been extremely effective in eliminating and proofing our building from mice when we had construction next door a couple of years ago. He worked with us and neighboring building to miraculously eliminating them from the backyards and actually prevented any from getting inside the building. I cannot recommend more highly. read more

Really happy I found these guys. We've had a mouse problem for a while now and the previous exterminators clearly didnt do a great job as they been running amok in our little apartment. Got a few quotes from a bunch of companies and Alley Cat were the most reasonably priced and had great reviews, so went with them. They were polite, warm and friendly from the get-go, and were able to make an appointment to come round just a few days later. I have a thick accent and they heard the wrong address on the phone, so on the day they called and asked where I was but were super accommodating about the error and promptly showed up (still within the hour window they gave me). Don, the exterminator, was an absolute delight. He says he's being doing this his whole life and it really shows. He used a cable camera (not seen any other exterminators use one of these!) and showed me where the little buggers where getting in. He also closed up a bunch of holes and crevices around the apartment. He's full of knowledge and very happy to share, so I actually learnt a lot during his visit. He's a really friendly and warm person, and thankfully really good at his job. The proof: since then, I'm happy to report, I've not heard a squeek! All in all, a really positive experience. Highly recommended. read more

Exceptional service. Solved the fruit fly problem immediately. The very best in town!

Let me tell you, I was at the End. Of. My. Rope. when I called Alley Cat. I have received FOUR expensive bed bug treatments, but I was still seeing insects. Crawling. On. My. Mattress. OMG. All summer. It was HORRIBLE. So I called Alley Cat after seeing so many positive reviews here. Don is a true professional an a nice person. He went over my place with surgical precision. He not only removed the mattresses, but lifted the cherry wood bed frame like Superman, in order to spray underneath. My bug problem is OVER. The magic is in the fact that this is a family owned business. Every time he takes on a customer, it is his good name at stake. Other places just hire techs who spray and ::shrug::. Don says he learned the biz from his father so he takes pride in doing a splendid job, Well done! read more
