In fact, I was lured to take the ferry across the sound just to check out this store again, a month later. My first time visit, I walked passed this store not thinking much. I thought everything might be really expensive since all the stores in the area were pretty pricey. I had just come out of a store just across the street that sold a dress for $150. I didn't think anything in this little town had affordable things. Boy I was wrong. I stopped to look at the clothing rack outside and found this beautiful classy dress for only $20. It was for sale and it was just beautiful. It was like a dress you would find at anthropologie or a high end boutique. It was the perfect dress that I had been looking for the last week since I had a special event. Inside the store, they had an assortment of clothing, wonderful smelling perfume, and accessories. My friends bought perfume and hair accessories. I ended up buying this wonderful dress. I kept thinking about how I loved this store's collection/style of clothing and affordable prices that I decided to drag my husband to come to Bainbridge Island again the next week! I found another dress upon my second visit for $35. Not bad for a high quality and beautifully designed dress :) I was kind of sad because the store had signs stating that the owner was retiring and that was why their stuff was heavily discounted. Their selection had whittled down since the last time I was there. I highly recommend coming to this store before it closes! I wish I could stay opened!

But then, I returned recently while visiting family, and had a wonderful experience. The tenant greeted us warmly, and explained which pieces were for sale and which were only for rental. She gave us some recommendations for other shops in the area as well. She was just so sweet! I tried on a selection of items, and settled on a vintage red mod dress. It was fairly priced, at about $50, and the dress was in good condition. I packed it in my suitcase, and flew home to the east coast... when I put it on for work for the first time, I felt something stabbing into my hip! I took the dress off, flipping it inside out. I pulled open the side seam allowance, and there was a huge, rusty metal clothes pin in the seam. It stabbed me! I love the dress, but I was disappointed that the shop didn't spot the pin at intake. It could have been dangerous! Overall I have positive feelings about the shop, but if you purchase second hand from here, please be sure to look over your clothing before wearing it. I'd hate for someone else to be stabbed!

I was especially interested in their wonderful assortment of bath and body products, as well as an entire wall of hand poured candles. I certainly look forward to returning when I have more time to peruse other offerings, but for now, I was happy to take home a few soaps and a soy candle from a local artisan. Pro-Tip: This shop offers candle making classes, so if you've been looking for an opportunity to learn, this could be your place :)

Not really my personal taste, as far as the style of clothing goes, but I have to admire the quality of the clothing and shoes and boots and accessories here. Excellent quality and unique wares for this demographic of shoppers. Large selection of footware (many European, that I've never seen before. This is definately the place to go for leather European clogs!). They play super music (Motown was on when I was last here), and there are comfy couches (usually you can find the menfolk resting here, waiting patiently for their lady friends to be done shopping). The women who work here are lovely, too, and helpful. I should note that there is an AWESOME clearance section in the rear of the store. There aren't many sizes of items there, so you have to be lucky to find your size in a shoe or boot or clothing you want, but boy, the deals are great in this area.

I had an abrupt exit as I needed to get back to the family, and she was more than generous in extending her help over-the-phone and eventually a personal delivery for my items left behind. I will be back in the summer and Covet will be the first boutique I mention to family and friends back in Phoenix before I return, and the first place I purchase from again upon revisiting. They have men and women's clothing to check out but since I am fairly picky with clothing I did not find anything that quite hit me. But there was plenty of other stuff that I liked. The home decor selection is what really drew me in. Their candle selection I really enjoyed as the primary draw on the home decor front. And of course candy... what would I do without that? They had some great caramels here as well. The f=general vibe with this place is country chic so that is what to pick up from when going here. They also sell pumpkins, peaches, blueberries and more when they are all in season of course. Definitely a place to make a stop at when visiting the island.

As we pulled up in the parking lot, the first thing I saw was the only thing I wanted- a place to sit in the sun and this place has a long patio with two different areas to sit and they are gorgeous. One side had red Adirondack chairs all facing out for a nice view of Little Bird Garden across the way. The other had padded outdoor seating where you could sit and enjoy the sun. So ladies, if your hubbies aren't into shopping, they can hang out on the patio and chill on the patio. Inside there are fun little nooks. This place lives up to the "country store" name because they sell bulbs for flowers, candles, souvenirs and home design items. They also have men and women's clothing and there's a section for old time candy and fun kitchen items. It reminded me of one of those old mercantile shops you see in westerns or movies from the 40s and 50s where they have a little bit of everything and what they didn't have, they could order if you picked out what you want from the Sears Roebuck catalogue. Don't know how decisions are made about what they put in the store, but however these decisions are made, they're good decisions :) Not overwhelmed with junk that calls itself "antique". And there's nothing here that's torn, stained or just past it. Prices fair, and sometimes surprisingly good! Stuff changes out regularly. I've bought big and small things here, spent between $500 and $5. Everything I have found here is just cool. The only problem is that Billie Jo can never remember my NAME! ;)
