Teach Employees to Be Respectful to the Customers and Don't Blame the Customers for the Employees Mistakes.

Besides the regular shopping we did today, I went to the Optical Dept. to order new new pairs of glasses, one regular and a pair of sunglasses. I was lucky enough to have Teanna work with me. She's also worked with my wife and she is superb. She knows her stuff and you can absolutely trust her suggestions and advice. She's a reason why we only buy our prescription eyeglasses at Costco. She helped me pick out two sets of frames and even did a 'tune-up' on the pair of glasses I'm wearing until the new ones arrive. Teanna reminded me that we can always bring our glasses in for tune-ups like replacing worn nose pads and readjusting the frames fit on the ears and nose. This is the type of added value Costco provides for all prescription eyeglass purchases. read more

For our household I am not exactly sure getting utilizing it to it's fullest entirely works because our household is fairly small. But not just that we are fairly new to Costco and we kind of need to adjust accordingly to this kind of bulk shopping and zero in on things we need bulk of and not focus on this kind of a store like Fred Meyer is. Although I acknowledge larger families could probably use it as an equivalent. We were told the Gig Harbor location was less chaotic and while it was slightly less so it's still a very fast paced place. Nothing too much different than the one in our own town however they seemed to get people through the check outs at amazing speed. I'd definitely would return should a Costco need arise and we were in the Gig Harbor area. If you aren't used to the area however I'd recommend coming in and out with GPS as it can be very confusing with what feels like a large amount of stores clustered off of one road along with it's roundabouts. read more

Used to shop almost exclusively at Costco stores but have been cutting back more and more over about the last decade. I've finally reached a point of not wanting to return and I think they've outlived their appeal to me. Especially here in Utah... kids run wildly throughout the store scarfing up the free samples. I think lame duck parents bring their kids here to feed them rather than cooking something at home. It ruins the entire shopping experience. They've changed the food court ordering, I won't use kiosks so that ruins that part of the store. The prices are about the same as any other store but you still have to pay the membership. Came here for a tire repair. They got us in within an hour. However, they told us it's illegal for them to do a repair since the thread is worn out (we didn't even have this set of tire for that long). Told us the repair will take 20 min. An hour later, still no communication. We came back in and still not done and we waited another10 min. Would not recommend if you have any other options to get your tire fixed read more

This Costco is not as crowded as other Costcos, which makes shopping more enjoyable. My complaint is that the employees giving samples are not very friendly. If they really want you to try a sample they should be more inviting. Giving out samples to people can be overwhelming, but it does help to sell the product. read more

Some of the people at the customer service desk need to look up what customer service means, especially the woman with glasses. Forgot my card yesterday and she acted like I had asked her to lift a car off of her or I had just committed a huge crime. The same woman was incredibly rude when we went to renew our cards this year with a promotion. The promotion was clearly advertised on Costcos site, I called to confirm, but this woman refused to honor it. Instead she launched into a bunch of other heavy handed promotions that included credit card enrollment. read more

I visited this Costco within the last week and there was a lady with blondish hair in the bakery. I think she's the bakery manager. She was so rude to people that she worked with and all the people around her. It made me sick to my stomach! . The way she treats other people other human beings is despicable and gross! I was with my wife and our three children. They all witnessed this person's terrible, terrible attitude towards other people. I call BS on Costco. Attempted to order an LG Induction range from Costco.Com that was on sales until 12/31. When I tried to add it to my cart, it said the item was unavailable for purchase and would not accept my order. Check today and what do to you know? The same oven is available but not at the sale price. With no way to get a rain check, that deal is gone. That's fraud and deceit in my book. Used to think that Costco was a first class organization. I buy my tires at COSTCO. Never have had a problem until now. I had a nail in my tire, I was close to COSTCO I swung in and talked to the guy at the tire shop. I said I have a nail in my tire I'd like a repair. He asked if I had an appointment, I told him no my tire just went flat and I found a nail in it so I came here. He basically yelled well then it will be five hours. COSTCO is not a tire shop. They do installations and they have people working in Gig Harbor with zero customer service skills. This review is for the food court only. I have been a Costco member since 1995 and have always felt I've gotten great quality for good value, everything always. Today I left the Gig Harbor WA store shaken. I was in the restroom, taking care of business. I was washing my hands when I was done and I heard one of the stall doors open, saw the red hat of an employee out of the corner of my eye and then took a good look as this person walked on by and out of the restroom without even looking at the sink. I followed to see if maybe they headed to an employee lounge where there was a sink. Nope!! Straight into the food court kitchen and proceeded to grab and handle pizza with their bare UNWASHED hands as it was coming off the conveyor! Unnerved me to see the least. Refuse to let my service dog in Said she was too small to be a service dog and asked her where her vest was and asked what the dog was for completely inappropriate. Definitely going to avoid this place now. I had only recently got the service dog approval so I didn't have a vest for her yet and she was so small that you can't really find a vest her size its been quite difficult read more

Review Costco Gig Harbor Pharmacy: I normally use Walgreens but was recommended to use Costco for my pet's RX. Our beloved dog has stage 4 kidney failure. To keep her comfortable in the last few weeks of her life our vet prescribed anti nausea medication (Cerenia). Today I refilled it and was called by a Pharmacist named Ken. He shared with me that a mistake had been made on the previous prescription. The vet had prescribed 160 mg (1/4 of each tablet daily). Your pharmacy gave us 16mg (1/4 of each tablet daily). My dog was supposed to be receiving 40 mg a day and WAS ONLY RECEIVING 4mg!! This is completely unacceptable! This pharmacy has made other mistakes in the past that I was willing to overlook but not this. Ken said he would be providing this next RX for free. After I pick up the CORRECT DOSAGE this evening. I will never trust this pharmacy again for my pet's prescriptions, let alone any humans in my home. SHAME ON YOU GH COSTCO PHARMACY!! read more

Went to tire center for rotation and flat. Told them my local tire shop had looked and made a tire repair. They refused to even look at the flat tire. Turns out there was no repair done on the flat tire all the local shop had done was dismount the tire clean the rim and put the tire back on. These are costco tires and now they claim they will not warranty them bc someone else "made a repair". I live over an hour away from this costco and have been loyal for all tire sets for 10years. I will be getting tires and service elsewhere for all 3 vehicles. Ridiculous that they wouldn't even look at the tire in question but would do the rotation. A week ago I got my baby out of the car in the pouring rain and walked in Costco. I put diapers and several other things in my cart. I make my way up to the self checkout and a lady stopped me and asked to see my Costco card. Now I understand all of their rules and regulations about having to be a member, but I AM a member. My husband and I pay for our membership every year. I handed over the card with no complaint and explained that it was my husbands card. I understand their rules about having your own card, and would have been more understanding had they politely turned me away, but the lady at the self checkout proceeded to make a scene and embarrass me. I am an easygoing person and I try to be very nice, but when someone treats me like that it makes me mad. A friend of mine was at the store with me, and though I would not usually do this, she paid for my items. This made the staff even more upset and they proceeded to point and whisper about me and at me. Also speaking in their walkie talkies about me. The manager even came over to whisper in the ear of the cashier and tell her how horrible of a person I am. Upon finishing up my purchase, they proceeded to follow me to the door as though I was stealing or doing something criminal. As I said, if I didn't already pay for a yearly membership, I would get it, but seeing as how I do, I DID NOT deserve this embarrassment from the staff. I just wanted diapers for my baby. The store itself is great, but I would give the staff zero stars if I could. read more

I wasnt expecting to write this quick review. We have been to many costcos and I have never been compelled to sit down and make a note of my experience. For whatever reason we had a lovely experience at Costco this weekend. The sun was out. We found a beautiful parking spot close to the front. We made a cool purchase and had lovely interactions with every employee who all wanted to chat and were overly helpful while we waited to check out. It reminded me of visiting Trader Joes. People genuinely felt excited about being at work. It was just a perfect example of great customer service and that will always make me feel good. I cant say for sure they are always this happy, but it made my day for sure. read more

Every year I try pumpkin pie despite disliking it. I always think "maybe I'll like it this year," "maybe this pumpkin pie is the one that changes my mind". Despite my efforts I have spent my entire life confused as to why people go crazy for the stuff. After 25 years, and 25 Thanksgivings I was ready to give up on pumpkin pie. That all changed tonight. Turns out there IS a pumpkin pie for me out there and its COSTCO'S. I took one bite and felt like every one of my failed attempts, every bite of flavorless and soggy pie, was worth it. This pie tastes way more expensive than its price of $5.99. To me this pie is priceless. Sweet and flavorful filling, flaky buttery crust, and the ratio of the two is perfect. No soggy bottoms here! This pie puts every homemade pie I've ever tasted to shame, no offense mom! And to every other person thinking about making a pumpkin pie this year, maybe leave it to the pros at Costco. Not only will you probably save money, after taking into account the ingredient costs to yield of pie, you just can't beat Costco's price for a nearly 4lb pie! Not only that you probably won't beat its flavor either. Sorry‍ With all this being said I am ready to make up for lost time. I will be keeping this pie on hand for the rest of Fall and I hope that everybody can find as much joy in Costco's pumpkin pie as I have. read more

Love Costco except for the last time I was there. Made my purchases and wanted to add a hotdog when I was paying. They evidently only let you order and pay for whole pizzas at checkout now. I asked if I can pay cash and was told to go to the cash register where you pick up food orders. Only one employee behind counter filling orders that people had placed at the order kiosk. He was working like crazy so I will give him props for that. I stood by the cash register for five minutes with money in hand wanting to buy a hot dog. I finally gave up and left. Super disappointed! Very dissatisfied with the customer service center today. Thank you for making me hold up a line to get a Costco Cash card for the gas pump. Not only was the cashier confused by my request but the customers behind me also thought that I was wrongfully turned away by your "customer service agents." I did not happen to catch their names but this was the first time in I had this request. Luckily I need gas otherwise I would have left and went somewhere else to get my petrol. My husband and I love Costco and I'm not ashamed at all to admit that we are executive members. This location has great perks like friendly service, a solid selection of local beers, and decent seafood choices. As a bonus point, we also recently purchased a new furnace and AC through Costco (because global warming and killer heatwaves) and they offer a significant rebate that will supply us with a considerable amount of groceries and other goods. Any time we need more than one pound of meat or produce, this is our first stop. We are a family of two plus a dog so you don't have to have a huge household to benefit from the bulk deals. And of course their gasoline prices can't be beat! Writing this as I head over for our weekly haul. read more

This review is primarily about the Optical Department. 3 stars because the rest of Costco is great and the retail associates at this location are outstanding. They're a 5 star team, for sure. The Optical Dept., however, is AWFUL. They're a 1 Star team. They're slow, they're rude, they're inept... it shouldn't take 3 weeks to get contacts, but shopping here meant that my daughter received a box of contacts for her right eye in the mail a week after our order while the left eye lenses never arrived. When I called to find out why, a woman explained to me that they were being shipped from a different location and that we should continue to wait a few more days. When another week went by, I called again and this time the person I spoke with was horribly rude. I could hear in the background that they were busy, so maybe that's why. She asked me if I had a tracking number and I didn't because THEY have that information, I tried to explain that that's part of the reason I was calling. She got pretty mad at me about that. She put me on hold for quite a while and then returned to the phone saying the contacts were there, at the store, and that I could pick them up anytime. I wanted to ask how long they've been there, were they ever going to call and let us know? When I got to the store to pick them up, the line was very long, but I passed by it because there's a sign at the end of the counter that says something along the lines of "pick up prepaid contact lenses here," so that's where I went. Y'all, I literally got yelled at: "you need to take a number and get in line!" - it was nuts. Ultimately, I got the contacts, so that's good, but I can never, ever, EVER, ever shop for contacts or glasses here again. To top it all off, the prices are the same as everywhere else, so there's really no incentive to try again, but all the reason in the world to let everyone know how bad this place is. On Wednesday March 29th at 10am 2023. Me and a couple freinds went into this costco with my grandma. We were chased down and asked about relationship status with my grandma. i took this personal as I am recently adopted. after grabbing food, our grandma left to keep shopping and let us go back to the car. While walking out, the SAME lady approached us in a rude attitude and said we were NOT aloud back in ever and assuming it wasnt my family member . She accused my grandma of being a random lady off the street. Which I found affensive. She got all up in our faces as we walked by. She does NOT deserve emoplyee of the month. read more

This isn't for this particular Costco bust just Costco as an entity. I have tried ordering outdoor furniture sets four times now for all of them to be canceled a couple days before the delivery date. Extremely aggravating to get your hopes up on such a big purchase then to have it taken away. We have tried the call us and chat feature online and gone into the store and all we get is that the item is now out of stock. No answer to why we were able to purchase, why my order would cancel and still show in stock online, when we would be able to get one and it's making us not want to shop at Costco any more. read more

I just got signed up at this location for a membership. When I said I wanted to sign up the employee responded with "Tell me, what are your spending habits like on groceries." I reluctantly gave an estimate. He responded that I should sign up for the gold membership and gave me the whole run down. I said "I think I just want standard for now and I will see if I want that later." This other employee comes up while this guy is entering my info in their system and gives me the same run down. I had to tell them no on 3 separate occasions. I just felt like it was not very polite to ask me about my choices when it comes how how I spend my money and to patronize me by to people telling me the same thing. Why harass a customer that is willing to purchase your product because they don't want more of your product? I may look at this differently than some but I felt disrespected. It's Costco, what can I say. It's virtually identical to all the other Costcos but not as big as the one in South Center. Seems to be less crowded than the Tacoma or Silverdale branches. If you like Costco, you'll like this Costco. It's nice and clean and has those 1.50 hotdogs we all know and love. One thing to note, the round abouts (or traffic circles if you call them that) are kind of a pain to navigate and there's 3 of them to get here. So if you hate those maybe go for a different location. read more

I have been buying food from the bakery and cafe of multiple Costco's in multiple States over the last decade and have had conversations with the employees specifically regarding how you don't need a membership to buy those items and today at 6 p.m. I was notified very unprofessionally by the attendant Jacob in the exit that I was required to have a membership and could not buy a slice of pizza. I was considering at Costco membership but clearly you do not deserve my business whatsoever if you would not let me buy a $1.50 slice of pizza which is something that I have been doing for over a decade at least 40 times at Costco's in multiple different states.
