Well it says they close at 1:30pm for lunch- I arrived right at the counter and the time was 1:28pm - they had already locked everything down the front counters and pull down locking gates were closed and were walking away from the front of the closed pharmacy - I asked do they close early for lunch and the blond lady said "sometimes" - so beware they do not close at 1:30pm they close at 1:25pm (seems like they should state such on the sign). 1:30 MEANS 1:30 NOT 1:25 or 1:28!!! I have lived in Gig Harbor for over 40 years and this is the worse pharmacy ever. As it is preferred for my Medicare part D, I have to use it. They never answer their phones even though I have been on hold for over an hour several different occasions. The only way to communicate with them is to drive there in person. My current RX has several refills on it and they have been telling me they are out of the RX for two weeks and that it has been ordered. Now, they indicate I never asked for a refill even though I went there in person. Horrible service and competency. read more

I have a cat that needs insulin twice a day. Every time the insulin is due for renewal I call at least a week ahead to order. It has taken me as many as 5 visits to the pharmacy for the pharmacy to have the insulin in stock. I've only been going to Walgreens because I don't have pet insurance and with GoodRx this pharmacy was purported to be the cheapest....also most aggravating!! Today I went to pick up the insulin, which I had called in about a week and a half ago, and was informed that once again it never came in with the order that arrived 4 days ago. No one told me that there was no insulin to pick up. For whatever reason, this very common medication is not kept in stock. Meanwhile...I talked to a friend today whose dad was on the same insulin and she never had any problem with getting it from Costco. The staff at Walgreens are very apologetic. The pharmacist even told me today that controlled pain meds are not arriving for cancer patients and the pharmacy doesn't find out that the Rx can't be filled until the twice weekly order arrives and the pain meds are not in the order. As a former RN this is completely unacceptable. How this pharmacy stays in business is beyond me. read more

This pharmacy is the absolute worst. Their automated system doesn't check for updated prescription numbers, says it will fill the perscription and then doesn't. I went through the drive through yesterday, they said they'd have it filled by the end of the day. went back this morning and now they say it won't be filled until Monday. Unbelievable. Horrible customer service. On another need, I waited on the phone for 2 hours to only be disconnected. I went in to the store and she told me they don't answer their phones. NEW RX called in on the same day by the same doctor and one not filled until over a week from the first one. wanted to pick both up at the same time and they were so late with the second RX that they put the first one back and I had to start over. Every time I call, I have a minimum of a 20-30 wait time. My daughter had a rx put in on the 20th and insurance rejected it (not Walgreens fault). When I called, I waited 30 min for them to tell me it will be refilled on the 24th which was great. The 24th came around, and yet again there was an issue with it getting filled, so I call again today. I was on hold for 31 minutes and I get disconnected. I call back and this time, I'm on hold for 2 hrs!!!! Only to get disconnected yet again. This is ridiculous. There should be no reason for any customer to be on hold for 2 hrs. I guarantee I called before many of the customers who drove up or walked in. read more

Terrible pharmacy. Customer service in the pharmacy is seriously lacking and the turnaround for a prescription is ridiculous.

Having read the recent reviews, it seems like I visited a Walgreens in an alternate universe! After an unsuccessful run at getting flu/COVID vaccinations at another not-to-be-named pharmacy (name rhymes with RiteAid), my husband and I had an exceptional experience at Walgreens. From making the appointment online (a breeze!) to leaving the store post-vaccination everything went smoothly. The pharmacy team was prompt, friendly, efficient. Store was bright, clean, well-stocked and the cashier at check out was very pleasant. Very grateful we were able to get our much needed vaccines and happy to have taken our business to Walgreens. read more

Count your prescription pills! Today was the second time the Pharmacy issued me the incorrect amount of pain pills following surgery for my prescription. The first time they shorted me 5 pills, today 1 pill. Not sure if this is just an honest mistake or something more sinister. If it happens once, a mistake, twice a coincidence, the third time, it's time to inform law enforcement that something is wrong at this pharmacy. Especially when you're dealing with a narcotic. read more

The 1 star review is for the Pharmacy department. All the staff who worked in the other departments have always been extremely kind and welcoming. I'm not the type to write negative reviews but wow, I felt compelled to post after such an awful experience. Julie, the Pharmacy Technician, was extremely condescending, judgmental, and rude. She was even completely disrespectful to the male trainee under orientation today who was politely asking if Ive been helped or not after waiting in line for awhile. I would give this pharmacy a negative 10 if I could. A family member was discharged from the hospital and I had to wait 3 days to get their medication on one occasion. During another pick up attempt, the RX wasn't ready even after 5 days. I explained the medication was urgently needed by this point. The lady at the drive thru window told me that there were over 500 RXs ahead of this one and everyone needs theirs medicines just like me. I left and called another Walgreens in a different town and the RXs were ready within an hour. This place needs to be investigated by their corporate office or someone in charge of the pharmacist. The location seems to have enough workers behind the counter so I don't understand how they are continually this dysfunctional. Perhaps they need to hire more pharmacists who can fill the prescriptions in a timely matter like all the other Walgreens locations can. read more

The sense of urgency at the pharmacy is atrocious. My doctor sent over a prescription on 12/5 and it said it was delayed due to an insurance issue. On 12/13 I tried to call in but was on hold for 38 min and had to return to work. 12/15 I had more prescriptions sent in, but shortly after was notified of the sake insurance issue. I called again and this time waited 20 min but got to a tech who fixed the "insurance" issue in seconds for both prescriptions. It was 1.5 hours before they closed and the prescriptions come prepackaged so they only require labeling and the tech told me they would not be ready. The next day u had to call and wait on hold for 40 min before someone informed me they were still working on them. Within minutes after my call I had a notification that they were ready. This experience feels like poor management and a low bar for customer service and understanding that most people can't wait a full 2 weeks for someone to click a button and clear an error that would send their prescription to process. Most people are prescribed medications as a critical element of their health car and it doesn't feel like this fact is recognized by pharmacy staff. read more

This time, I called the automated number, requested a refill for a medication the system said was available for refill, received the "available for pick up" text. I have used Walgreens in Gig Harbor as well as other locations, Most locations are not anywhere near what they were 5 or 10 years ago but this location is without a doubt the worst around. Every prescription seems to have some type of issue that delays filling and even then it requires someone to hold their hand and walk them through the process to correct their error. Most indifferent group of egotists I've seen. To be fair they may have conscientious personnel but they are not to be seen. Maybe because they are covered up rectifying the miscues of others. As much as I hate to, I guess I will transfer business to Rite Aid or CVS if there are any. read more

I will never fill a prescription at this pharmacy again or spend a dime at any Walgreens. I'm aware that Walgreens allows its employees to refuse to fill birth control prescriptions due to religious objections, but this week's experience was unbelievable. I called to refill BC and was told insurance approved it and it would be ready for pickup the next day. When I went to pick it up, they mysteriously had NO RECORD of the prescription even though it was filled there previously. There were refills left according to the label, and somehow they have NO RECORD of the prescription when given the full prescription number FROM THE LABEL. When asked repeatedly for an explanation, I was only told to call my provider. Refusing to refill BC doesn't prevent abortions, and a company that receives reimbursement from federal programs like Medicare and Medicaid has no right to play politics with healthcare. read more

My friend had never printed photos from her phone and struggled to even find them, but Kara never rolled her eyes or lost patience with two ladies who needed a lot of hand-holding. With her assistance, we were able to print over 40 pictures for a graduation scrapbook.Thank you, Kara. You're the best! read more

I am also commenting on their pharmacy. Yesterday they tried to give my husband someone else's medication. The names were the same but there was no checking of birth date, address, phone number, etc. Later in the day I went down to get the correct medication and I asked to speak with the pharmacist. I was shocked when he was rude, couldn't be bothered, and not the least bit helpful. Plus, he looked like a sloppy mess. I kept thinking, "This can't be the actual pharmacist can it?!" When you need to trust an expert on something as important as medications, shame on Walgreens for thinking this is acceptable. read more

I am specifically commenting on the pharmacy. It is really sad to say that if I had written this review a year ago, I would have given a 5-star rating and raved about how pleased I was with all aspects of the service I received from the pharmacy at the Walgreens in Gig Harbor, WA. They seem to be completely overwhelmed. I hand-carried a paper prescription. They said the medication was out of stock but they would have it in a couple days. I returned 4 days later to find out they never ordered it. I returned 10 days after that to find out they don't know how to get the medication and suggested I try a different pharmacy. In a second case, my insurance had questions about a medication. Walgreens has not been able to help coordinate information with my Dr. to get the prescription filled. They said they could get me a 5-day supply while things were being resolved. I asked them not to do that, but they did anyway. Whenever I visit the pharmacy, whether inside or at the drive-thru, there is a 15 minute wait. Lastly, the automatic refill information which is sent to my mobile phone each month has not been correct in 5 months. If you are looking for a regular pharmacy in Gig Harbor, I am sorry to have to say I would not recommend Walgreens at this time. read more
