Absolutely bizarre that people are giving this place 1 stars. I did two pretty substantial bathroom remodels in my house, and used showers, shower pans, vanities, various hardware from home depot. First vanity showed up damaged, but it happens. Prices were decent--great return policy as well. Paint people need a little better training, but other than that really no complaints. read more

We had a wonderful experience working with Taylor at the Gig Harbor Home Depot over the weekend, as she expertly guided us through the process of buying a new washer and dryer. She was knowledgeable, efficient, and engaging, and she had us through the process very quickly, including offering us a fantastic financing option. We could not have asked for a better buying process. The reason this is a 4 star rating and not a 5 star rating is that this location has clear signage about safety protocols related to the pandemic, but it's staff do not seem to be enforcing any of them. In fact, approximately 50% of the people we saw in the store were not wearing masks or socially distancing, even when interacting with staff. Until we reach higher vaccination numbers in this area, it seems irresponsible to merely post signage about safety protocols with no intention of adhering to them. read more

Ordered replacement windows in November and as of March Home Depot/Milgard windows has not even begun to manufacture them. Color coding errors along with selling me windows that they can't provide has delayed my order. I was contacted by the area window manager and he indicated that even though they are canceling my order they may charge me a penalty before my refund is delivered. They have now backed off the penalty but have yet to refund my deposit. Please beware as Home Depot has over promised and under delivered. I would give zero stars if I could. I have given this Home Depot so many chances to improve their customer service, yet they fail at it every time. I just can't even begin to describe how disheartened I feel about this place. During this whole pandemic, they have just became richer and richer and yet they did not put any of that money back into their people. ZERO STARS! We ordered a washer and dryer set here in early July, paid for delivery and home installation, were given a delivery date at the end of July. They arrived on time for delivery and installation. And from that point on everything fell apart. The washer arrived with a HUGE dent in the front. It was completely defunct and could not even be used. A few scratches here and there I can understand and forgive but truly it takes a special kind of talent to damage a 200 lb washer to that extent. The dryer, they did not install, after making up some excuse. And the steam hose that we bought and paid for was somehow not delivered. After reaching out to Home Depot, they deferred us to the vendor. We had to wait another two weeks before their next delivery date for a replacement washer. And now, a day before our replacement delivery, they call to say that the item is on back order and won't be available until 9/7. At this point we have waited OVER A MONTH for a washer that this company damaged. And now they tell us we have to wait another month?! How about you reimburse me for all the trips to the laundromat and the utter grief and horror we've had to endure from something as simple as buying a laundry appliance? There should have been a unit set aside for us as soon as they were back in stock, even if pending delivery, since we bought and paid for this over a month ago! So yes, buyer beware, this is how they treat customers, with complete disregard. We ended up canceling the order and took our business to Lowe's instead. I bought a Ryobi electric lawn mower 18 months ago from Home Depot. This summer the mower keeps shutting off while mowing our very small yard. I returned to Home Depot to get warranty service. I was informed that Home Depot no longer provides support for Ryobi products! What?!! I was told to contact Ryobi directly. I tried Ryobi's customer service and discovered that I would have to ship the product to one of their service locations, and pay for the shipping both ways. Ship a lawnmower? The closest authorized Ryobi service center is in British Columbia (Victoria), Canada. In other words, there is no warranty service for Ryobi products purchased from Home Depot. Don't buy them there. Five hundred dollars wasted. Lesson learned. read more

I'll start off by saying that in the past I've preferred Lowe's to Home Depot, especially since a Lowe's is located in the town where I live. But the primary reason why I avoided Home Depot was because I did not like the politics of the founders of the business. So, for the most part, I boycotted the chain. But after Lowe's took what should have been a simple refrigerator purchase and complicated it into a needlessly stressful experience due to incompetence and just bad employee training, my wife and decided to give Home Depot a chance, I had seen an excellent purchase candidate online so we went to check it out. As bad and incompetent as Lowe's had been, our refrigerator purchase turned out to be the easiest major appliance purchase we've ever enjoyed. Not only did they have it in stock--a little thing at which Lowe's failed miserably--their appliance sales associate was thoroughly professional, and knowledgeable, and an absolute joy to work with. Her name is Alessandra Cable, and I suggest that if you're in the market for a new appliance like a fridge or an oven or a washer/dryer, etc., trying shopping on a quiet Monday night when she can give you her full attention. She really knows her stuff. She led us through the purchase agreement--including the extended warranty (which we decided to purchase as opposed to her selling us one--there is a difference) by reading and highlighting every single bit of info she was required not only to read but to ensure we understood. We've worked with car salespersons who were not as thorough. Before we were done we not only understood everything about the purchase and warranty but also all the info we needed regarding the delivery and how to contact the company who was to deliver the fridge if a need arose. My wife and I were both impressed by her thoroughness and by her sweet personality. In fact, everyone I've talked to on the phone--from HD's appliance support telephone line to the store telephone operator to one of Alessandra's colleagues have been superb. That store telephone operator was hugely friendly and helpful, while the Lowe's operator sounded like I was just taking up her time. I'll stop the comparisons here since this is a pro-HD review, not an anti-Lowe's rant. The fridge was delivered today, and the delivery was as smooth and problem-free as the purchase. Smiles all around this entire transaction. So, once again I've learned that sometimes you have to set politics and even social consciousness aside and go with who sells a product at a fair price, and provides world class customer service while making it clear they value your business. I'll still shop at Lowe's for the small hardware stuff. But thanks to Alessandra Cable, the the telephone operator and other store associates, and Jeanette at the appliance support telephone line, we're now loyal to the Gig Harbor Home Depot. read more

Please read: bought dishwasher and had delivery and install about a week later... We are told it's on the truck and being delivered. We waited the afternoon into the evening at finally at 9 pm told its to late.. We learn it was never on the truck and up to 1/2 the time they just flat out lie and it's not on the truck. Now it's another week later and we waited until 5:30 and when we called they claim it was attempted to be delivered at 5:43 and no one was home.. We called at 5:30 and in the future we were not home for the delivery. They lied and lied and lied and we have no idea when and if we will see a dishwasher and Home Depot did nothing and they didn't care and said, we are sorry and out of our control.. On June 3, 2020 at 7:30 a.m., I had to enter the store because I wasn't able to pre-order one of three items online. Not one single employee was wearing a mask. I will not be back. Update: On Feb 23, 2022 there were no employees in the garden department. I tried and tried reaching plastic pots--the size I wanted was stored high overhead. I tried climbing and reaching--no luck. I went and got a hoe and pulled on the pots; they all hit me on the head and then crashed on the floor. One broke. Three hours later, my head still hurts and I have a bump. read more

After 50 minutes I called him back to see if he was lost because sometimes it's hard to find my house. he hung up on me without speaking to me, and would not answer his phone after that when he arrived, he was jerking things around and asked me if I still wanted the washing machine! I put my Spanish-speaking neighbor on speakerphone And asked her to tell him that I was just concerned that he was lost. He snapped at her in Spanish and continue to be abrupt with me. I needed to visit this Home Depot to duplicate a few important keys of mine, and after some browsing around I found the section with the key machine. In the past, I've had to track down a nearby employee for help and ask if they had a moment. This time, a man named Lee quickly saw that I could use some assistance. I didn't need to hunt anyone down or fiddle around like an idiot before he politely offered a bit of aid. Lee was very easy to talk to. He patiently and effectively explained to me how the machine worked, showed me what types of key shapes I needed for my various duplicates, gave me advice in case I ever lose my keys, and even recommended a few places I could visit next once my old Toyota key couldn't work with their machine. Lee was everything you could ask for in an employee, coming from a very inexperienced customer. He didn't make me feel dumb or rushed, was very knowledgeable in answering my questions, and sincerely made me feel a hundred times more welcome. Thanks to his help and his awesome attitude, it's easy to say I'll be recommending this place in the future to friends and colleagues alike. read more

We normally go to the Tacoma Home Depot and dread it every time. We actually go to McClendon's when we can instead. There's never anyone available to help let alone even seeing someone walking around. In the off chance you can find someone, they are always paging for someone else who never shows up. We came here about 8:30pm and we didn't know what to do with ourselves! We're not used to having 3-4 people helping you all at one time. We started chuckling because we were so baffled. This place has a way better selection and pricing for some reason seems a little cheaper. Didn't realize it was only a 10 minute drive from Tacoma, we'll be coming here from now on. Paying the toll on the way back is worth it. We are remodeling so came here for bathroom vanities and tile. They brought everything to the front for us and loaded it in our truck. I read a few other reviews, so I would recommend coming in the evening when it's not busy and you have all the employees to yourself! Lol! read more

Home Depot customer service will tell you your order is canceled and their is no order in system. You'll get annoyed and decide to look elsewhere. A week later someone will call and be very rude and upset and say you should have followed contract and canceled right away with 3 days. Went to buy a washing machine on May 3. Was told it would not be delivered until May 15. Said we were going to see if anybody else can deliver before May 15 and left. The middle aged woman at the home appliance section said it would be the same delivery date if we decide to purchase there as long as we returned within a few days. So we did return in a few days. We approached a younger woman at the same home appliance section but were told she was already helping someone else. That someone else (another customer) turned out to be the person on the phone with her "Boo" for the entire 15 minutes we were waiting but she wouldn't even have an eye contact with us, but instead, started chit-chatting with a male employee. You know you are selling something that costs 500-1200 bucks there. We aren't there to buy a candy bar. So at least say "I am sorry, I will be right with you." or direct us to someone who can help us make the purchase. During the same visit, we were talking to an employee about a shower head and he abruptly told us "I have to go to garden section (or whatever he called it)" and left. We thought he was going to come back and after 10 minutes of waiting, we found him on a forklift. LOL. What the hell. So we ended up buying just a Ring camera - We were helped by an assistant manager there and he was very helpful. Lowe's in Port Orchard is actually closer than The Home Depot in Gig Harbor. Funny a business that has been around this long still has no clue what they have on the shelves at any given time. As long as the count is within 10 items or so it's considered good. Can't imagine how much they are losing just by not being able to track what's on the shelves and coming in off the trucks.... This being said I DON"T recommend doing an online order unless they list 15 items in stock otherwise it's a waste of your time like it was for me. I called the store and confirmed they had the item I order and was told it would be ready when I got there... Needless to say NO even after I called to confirm they had they didn't. Wow! The poor customer service at this place is to say the least.... consistent. This was my final trip to Home Depot in Gig Harbor. I've had several bad experiences at this branch but because of its convenient location decided to give it another try. My mistake. Went to buy a filter for my refrigerator water dispenser. Asked the sales associate for help and told him I have my model number. He quickly informed me "the model number doesn't tell me anything". Wow. So, I go to the service desk to ask for help. The lady there tells me " your best bet is to call GE". No-one was willing to help buy a water filter for the water dispenser on the refrigerator that I purchased there just two years ago. So, I drove the distance to the Port Orchard Lowe's. Gave the sales assoc. the model # which she thanked me for having and she handed the filter with a smile! Then asked if she could help with anything else. Never again Home Depot. read more

Ordering online would be really convenient, except that it's always at LEAST a half-hour wait to pick up curbside... if they can find your order at all. (And, yes, that is after they've emailed to say the order is ready, we're not jumping the gun or anything.) On the occasion we gave up on curbside and went into the store to find out what the problem was/pick up inside, we were told they couldn't find the order, but they would re-pull it. It was only about half a dozen items, but we finally gave up after waiting half an hour from THAT point. It took two more visits to finally get that order; ultimately what seemed to work was calling ahead and saying, "This will be my third attempt to pick up this order, with you guys not being able to find it both times. Can you please check and make sure it is where it belongs, before I make the 35-minute drive to come pick it up?" And then I waited 20 minutes on the phone before they came back and said they had found it. Picking up at the online order desk before the pandemic required considerable patience, too, so I don't think it's just the pandemic. Although certainly they are even worse now. read more

My husband said we could load it ourselves, but on our way out an employee named Joe said he could help us when he was done loading another customer. My husband didn't want to bother him so we pushed our carts out to start loading the trailer. Within a couple of minutes Joe came jogging out and helped my husband load everything! Needs NEW MANAGEMENT- GO TO WILCO if they carry what you have, or LOWES is about 10 miles north. Wow, for a home improvement store they couldn't find a lazier group of employees. I'm here quite often, depending on the time of year, I'll come in 2-3 times per week. More often than not, an employees response is along the lines of "well, I'd have to get a ladder for that" (when asked if an employee could scan a display item to see if there are any left) or "we don't have anyone here who is familiar with that" (when asked about paver base substitutes) or multiple times hear employees complaining about loading bags of mulch. Many times, I've walked away from a purchase do to employees being unhelpful and bought online thru Amazon instead. Where do these people think they work??? read more

Contracted services Do not use Home Depot for anything other than buying a screw. We used them to install a door - ordered in March. Wrong measurements were taken, so second door came in May. The door was installed, the trim is not level, the weatherstrip was installed improperly so I can see outside (which means things can get inside), parts of the door are missing. So they send the main installer out who tells us we need ANOTHER new door ordered because the one installed in the wrong size. It's now 6 months later and we still don't have a resolution. My primary issue - unkept promises, no communication, and no results. They offer a guarantee on the work, but the only guarantee they have provided thus far is not doing ANYTHING they promise, including returned phone calls. read more

That's pretty obvious because they clearly don't care about their customers potential exposure to the virus. When I was finally allowed to enter, there were so few customers in every aisle I looked down that I swore I heard an echo! I've never seen any Home Depot, not in WA, Idaho, Montana, etc., so empty. I had decided to use Home Depot's online site to make my purchases and make it easier on everyone. Last night I ordered only things that were,"In stock, in the store", and paid with a card. I used their curbside option as I'd used it a couple of weeks ago and it took them only a few hours to have it ready. Reasonable. I had called in this morning because I'd heard nothing back by 10 AM. A girl told me they didn't have my order ready yet. I took the opportunity to cancel one item and get a different size. She told me that I had to cancel the whole order, to make any changes, so I did and then she turns around and tells me (not a minute later) that I could have canceled the order on the one item, instead of doing it all again. What?! So I completed the whole order and paid, again. By 0430 this afternoon still nothing from Home Depot so I called and the girl told me they were backed up. I said I would head over as I needed the items purchased. She said I would have to get them myself and then come to the customer service area. That's ok. I went into the store, waited in the banned gathering and when I went to get the items I'd purchased, one of them was nowhere to be found. I went to the customer service area and waited another 25 minutes in a banned gathering. When I finally got to the register and tried to explain my dilemma, making a joke about how my order had probably been ignored as the item was not even in the store, this red haired, heavy set woman became extremely defensive and told me that, "You are not the only person".... Really? Thank you for enlightening me, but what does that have to do with my purchasing items that weren't, "available in the store", . She continued on spewing out numbers of orders they'd had and all of the customers...! Here's a customer with a valid reason for being upset and that's what you tell them? Extremely bad customer service skills. Finally, she explained that the online ordering updates every 48 hours. What?! Then how does Home Depot know if something is in the store or not? They don't, she tells me acting like I'm unreasonable to expect that thing that I paid for, and that the online site that said, "Available in the Gig Harbor store", to be available. Now my money is not only tied up in the first order cancellation that I was incorrectly told to do, it's tied up in a second. She finally made a helpful decision by simply handling it - which she should have done in the beginning. This tells me that she must be some kind of manager, as she didn't make any transactions and I was permitted to take two smaller quantities to make up for the one that wasn't there. Way too late to redeem herself, but thanks? I should be billing Home Depot for all my wasted time as they are responsible. Just really poor all the way around. read more

This evening, I went to the Home Depot store in Gig Harbor Washington not feeling in the best of spirits while I was laboring a sore back . I was pursuing a few obscure nuts and bolts. Upon arriving in the nut and bolt section I noticed a gentleman working hard who was diligently organizing things on the shelves. Initially, I tried to avoid asking for his attention and in respect to trying not to disrupt what he was doing, I tried to find these nuts and bolts myself. After spending a few minutes with no success on my own ,I decided to ask this gentleman if he could help me. Immediately, he stopped what he was doing and kindly told me that he would be happy to help me. Then he continued to help me find three washers and three nuts. I couldn't believe it, when he pulled out the large ladder rack to pick out one small box on the top of the shelf of washers for me. Getting to interact with this amazing associate/person who was so professional, courteous and sincere changed the entire direction of my evening for the positive. He spent maybe 20 minutes with me tonight for an .88 cent purchase and I walked out of this store tonight feeling like a million bucks. Getting to experience this kind of top notch customer service made such an amazing impression on my evening tonight taking me back to a place in time that I didn't know even know still existed. Were seniors husband disabled needed a cart not one to be found. Approached 3 cashers 1 customer service rep asked for a shopping cart was told that they were short on carts. Some are damaged etc., no homeless to be found in the area. No rep offered to find a cart. When asked for a cart holding stock at register was refused. I found many carts around the store full of inventory stock so I empty one cart problem solved for my last trip to this store. They did offer for me to speak with the manager I decline because if he or she were doing their job then they would have carts for customers and not for employees to stock the shelves... read more

Had an experience similar to Aubrey F. Ordered some shutters on the 2nd where there is a large display sign which states delivery in just 7 days. When I hadn't heard anything in over 2 weeks I went in and was told they hadn't been shipped yet as the order wasn't placed until the 16th! Was told that the vendor doesn't accept faxed orders which is how they sent it so it was never processed. I asked why no one called to inform me of the delay and received no reply just a shoulder shrug. They reordered it correctly and I still didn't get a call for another 10 days. Needed the shutters to match the trim paint. Won't be buying it here. read more

The worst service (if you can call it that). I realize it's the Coronavirus and times are difficult for everyone. I get it - However in trying to get my lumber delivered and my previous lumber picked up it's a total failure and ineptitude on Home Depot's customer service. Talked to Tracy 12pm about it. She said she had to to 5 things to do and would call me right back and get my credit card after she did those 5 things and that their ProDesk had no one working in it that day (seems odd)? So I keep my phone with me for 3 hours until after 3pm and she did not call me back. I call back and her response was "oh I haven't done anything yet on this for you we're too busy with lines out the door". I asked what she needed to do? She needed to attach it to a different order. Why? Cuz she needed a SKU. I asked if she wanted me to look up the SKU numbers for her? Well she said perhaps I should come in then (and wait in the lines)? So I asked when she planned on handling this today perhaps? She 'hoped so'. At some point when is a costumer on the phone waiting for service less important than a customer at the door? Especially when they've waited a LONG time for service as well? So I look up the SKUs for Home Depot personnel because apparently they are unable to do even that! OMG. And call back, I got Eric. This goes no better. He puts me on and off hold, twice and one instance is 26 minutes on hold and he says it looks like it's gonna be another 20 mins and can he call me back? So I wait over an hour and he never calls back. There's a pattern here! I call back and ask for Eric and Tracy said "he's not there". So I wait 15 mins and call back. He's still not there. I ask to speak to the manager. They get 'Jen'. Jen says Eric is busy helping a customer load a door into his truck. So once again (this is the 3rd time) I explain to Jen everything. She says she'll talk to Eric and find out what is going on. Eric finally calls back after another 40 mins. They change the delivery fee from $79 to $85 - whatever. He can't pick up all my boards? I ask him to talk to the manager. He gets back and says ok they'll do it. But he's unable to set up delivery of my new boards and call tomorrow and see if they can figure it out! OMG, Awful place, continuous and repetitively bad service, snippy overworked personnel with exceedingly rare (exceptionally rare) moments of good service from one or maybe 2 members - and that's it. I'm taking my thousands and spending it at Lowes. Home Depot is closer unfortunately- but I've grown to hate the place. This is why I am spending $3000 for a high end washer and dryer from Lowe's because Home Depot doesn't deserve the money I've spent there. I spent over 5 hours with their lousy customer service - time which I will never get back. Epic failure Home Depot, you know what they say it starts at the top - I believe the manager does not care and this attitude spreads, much like a virus, down to the lower level personnel who demonstrate it - daily. read more
