Absolutely great service first of all just wanted to say that before I said anything else Now I would like to say the store is pretty small compared to some of the other ones but I have had impeccable service at this place from every single person and one that stands out in my mind is Mr. Christopher bishop that guy has taking care of me every single time I've come in there he's cool he's calm he's collective he's assertive and he knows his stuff. I want to talk to somebody about tools I want to talk to somebody knows what they're doing in every person in there knows what they're talking about!!! Just dropped $350 in there on their parking lot sale couldn't resist!!! What a bargain!!!!!!!! Myself I couldn't of asked for better service and being in service and having to do customer related fixes directly in People's homes I know what it's like to have someone appreciate what you've done for them and when I went to the store not once but twice to return an item and they had a problem with the receipt they still manage to get me what I asked for. Went to purchase a replacement 1hp motor. I asked if I could have the box opened to see if the mounts were the same as the old motor. The box did not include mounting plate dimensions. Was told it wasn't a problem by an employee. Proceeded to head to the front to do this with supervision. The gentleman at the front told me this was not allowed. He then informed me there is a 20% restocking fee if the part is incorrect. I checked out harbor freight policy and it seems to be normal to allow customers to see if the part in the box is correct (under supervision of course). Unfortunately I do not recall the name of the employee. He was an older gentleman with a small composition. He did not provide a pleasant shopping experience and seemed to want to make a simple purchase a grievance for me. Didn't seem to care either way if he received my business. Lacking in customer service. I went to the location near me to make a purchase with a coupon promoted and readily available through the Harbor Freight app. When I tried to redeem the coupon I was told that I could not use it unless I set up a "customer profile", requiring me to share my private information with Harbor Freight. Nothing on the coupon states this"policy", additionally nothing on the website/app contains any information to support this. Harbor Freight does have "Member Only Deals". The coupon in question is not one of them. It's simply identified as a "Super Coupon, Use In-Store& Online" The "Supervisor" who handled my transaction had no interest in helping me & was condescending and rude. Why make deals available to the public, then deny customers access to them? I won't pay an extra $30, but I will make the purchase elsewhere. read more

Visited two stores today, the first one in Tacoma where I was greeted with excellent customer service from a team of knowledgeable employees. I was directed straight to where the odd tool I needed should have been. The guy helping me checked the stores inventory and when he realized they where out of stock he located the tool at the Lakewood store for me. Once in Lakewood it was more of the same, fast knowledgeable service. read more

Inexpensive tools some of which are great bargains. I would be wary of anything with moving parts, they just aren't top quality. The staff is fine. Unfortunately they'll advertise stuff they don't actually have in stock, so you may end up dissapointed. read more

Usually shop at Home Depot but they didn't have what I was looking for so I drove over to harbor freight and boy am I glad I did. Knowledgeable staff, great selection friendly environment. I don't like Liz cause she pulled coupons out to save me money, she made sure my purchase had a warranty for $5 extra cause.... well I break things. I usually wander aimlessly, bored out of my mind when I'm here. However, this is one of my husband's favorite stores and I have to admit it's a neat store. It's known for their low prices on cheap tools, but I'm amazed at the selection of items you wouldn't think they would carry. My husband bought me a metal detector from there and I've bought cheap gardening equipment and a fancy digital and glass weight scale here for less than I could get at the Kmart across the street. I also found a decent security system w/ night vision cameras for a very, very, very good price. Sure, their tools may not be as nice (or as long lasting) as the brand name tools, but if you're poor or if you want to try out a tool before buying an expensive brand, then this is the store for you. Even thought they're always busy, I've always observed good customer service from the employees. read more

What can you say, this is a big kids candy store. Very good selection of tools for the average home owner. These tools are not for heavy industry. I did a complete re-model of my home using their tools, had only one drill fail. I don't usually purchase their insurance, because the prices are so low, I just throw the tool away and purchase a new one. Lots of basic electric supplies as well as basic auto repair tools. Their pneumatic nail guns ran as long as my professional nail guns. The welding products are for light duty use only! Most of the complaints that I have read about these tools and products are from people who fail to read directions and running the in excess of their duty cycle. The staff is very knowledgeable and willing to help. If you have to return anything, they will do anything to help to correct the problem. read more

Harbor Freight is a great store for tools used by the hobbyist. The full purchase price for many tools is less than the cost of a single days rental for a similar tool. If you earn your living with particular tools, it may be best to pay more for them and buy them elsewhere. However for the majority of us who do backyard or weekend projects, Harbor Freight is the place to go. The price is right!! read more

Bought a battery charger from here as well as the protection plan. I no longer needed the charger (bought a better one) and when I went to return the one I bought from HF, they couldn't find my info in the computer and couldn't search me by name. What was even the point of the protection plan! A total waste. Would not by from here again. read more

I've been to this store several times and have usually been able to find what I need. However, on my last visit I had such a bad customer service experience that I will not be returning. I found an item clearly marked twenty dollars that rang up for ninety. So, I told the cashier and we went over to clear this up. I showed him the spot marked for twenty dollars, which still had several more of the item in the same spot. I thought this would be the end of the issue, but instead the employee treated me like I was ticket switching, told me to deal with it, and stormed off. This pissed me off and I'm still pissed. It was by far the most aggravating shopping experience I've ever had. read more

I found a ton of really cool stuff at Harbor Freight for super cheap! My friend had two motorcycle magazines that both had Harbor Freight coupons in them. At the time, we needed stuff to get our spare room ready to take apart a motorcycle engine. Although, that never ended up happening - I'm still head over heels at how much stuff I got and how little I ended up spending at Harbor Freight! They had the small, medium & large of the magnetic bolt and screw holder "bowls" (I love those things and the small one was like $4). I also bought a feeler gauge (way cheaper than I had imagined, but I forgot how much it was), a brake bleeder kit (I think it was only $3 or $4) and my husband got one of those stools where there is a shelf with dividers around the bottom, so you can keep what you're working on organized. It was $25, and we had a coupon for 20% off one item that from the motorcycle magazines. The service was very good considering it was about 15 minutes to closing when we got there. Since it was my first time, I didn't know where anything was. So I asked. The salesman was very helpful - and I had a list of things that I needed to get, and he showed me where to go to get everything on my list. The feeler gauge, brake bleeder kit and magnetic bowls were a surprise finds and I walked around the store following the salesman! The salesman could have been in a hurry to close and get home, but if he was, he didn't show it. Obviously, with these low prices, the tools aren't as good as Craftsman (which I used to go to Sears for). But for Harbor Freight prices, you really can't complain. And as it was pointed out to me, everything that is Pittsburgh branded, is warrantied for life. Though I believe that you have to mail the item in. I've heard in some stores, they're very liberal with their warranty and return policies - meaning you don't have to have the receipt of original packaging. I've also heard that the warranty is more of a gimmick, since it costs about $10 to return something through the mail. My friend gave me torque wrench (something that I've wanted and needed for a while - but they're expensive). He asked me to guess how much he spent on it. I had no idea, since he's a BARGAIN hunter. I found out that he only paid $10 for a torque wrench, so he bought about 15 of them when they were on sale and have been giving them out as gifts! Of course - my husband and I would love to have great expensive tools (I do still want a nice torque wrench), but until we get a garage - there's no point for us to invest a lot of money on tools that mainly stay at my husband's work or in our 2nd bedroom, aka, the utility/storage room. But for now -as long as I have my DeWALT with both the drill and the various bit sets, Harbor Freight works out just great for me! read more

Just left this Harbor Freight location and let me tell you, it was the best experience we've ever had at a hardware store. My husband was looking for quite a few large items and also wanted to browse the store. We were immediately greeted by a helpful associate who got my husband's list and said he'd have everything at the register for him when he was done browsing. I then took my two kids to go to the restroom, which was occupied. A different associate escorted my kids and I to the employee restroom so we wouldn't have to wait. Afterwards, while browsing, I was noticing that everything was well stocked, organized, and clean. When we went to check out, the cashier honored a coupon that had expired two days prior, as well as spent extra time looking for additional coupons for our larger items. She offered my daughter a sticker, which my daughter gladly accepted. Seeing we had our hands full with the large purchase and the two kids, yet a different associate helped us out to our car. On the way to the car, my daughter dropped her sticker and started screaming "my sticker!!!" I stopped to look for the sticker but it was dark and I told her we'd have to play with her stickers back at home. The associate loaded our large items, my husband thanked him and said good night. While my husband loaded the smaller items and we got the kids buckled, the associate came back out with more stickers for my daughter! Every single associate we came in contact with was friendly, courteous, and helpful. They went above and beyond to make our experience a good one. The store was great, but the associates were even better. As someone who worked 10+ years in customer service/retail, I can say for sure that many people at this store are doing something very very right. We will definitely be back! read more

I am really disappointed in this location of Harbor Freight. I have been an avid customer over the years and have visited probably 7-10 different locations, and never experienced the terrible service I did at this one. The selection was not nearly as large as any other location I have been to, which is not a huge deal because this store still carries the basics and simply has less of the extra items. We were able to get in and find what we needed with ease, but not without two different employees being incredibly rude to us. The third interaction with an employee was just as terrible and will motivate me to go to a further location next time I am in need of low cost tools. read more

We just ordered a saw online and it came with a defect, so we brought it back to the Tacoma store and were truly amazed at our service. Chris the store manager was helpful and courteous. He was showing the cashier how to do the return answering questions of another cashier and answering the phone and was saying thank you and you're welcome with no stress and an awesome attitude. More places need to be like this, it is a dying tradition to treat your employees properly and to have awesome customer service. The only complaint I have... The store is great and most of the people are friendly and helpful we shop here all the time and love it, but the cashier Alicia that just checked us out was VERY rude! Not just to us but to everyone in her line. She acted like she was wasting her time with us and she'd shake her head and exhale every time someone took a little too long to answer her questions. I am a DIYer and needed some air tools for a 1 time project. But if buying cheap tools, means having to be treated like a low-life, than it's not worth it! On my 1st visit, the sales person spent 30 minutes schooling me on air compressors, guns and the accessories. I picked out my 1st air gun, staples, hoses and which compressor would be best for me, but as I told him, I might be able to borrow a compressor as long as I have all of the other stuff I need. Since I wasn't sure, and since I live about 40 minutes from the store, he told me that if I bought it, I would have no trouble returning it. On my second visit, I brought the unused compressor, still in the box, and my receipt, for a refund. I was planning to use the $99 from the compressor I didn't end up needing, towards the $150 worth of nail guns for my project. The cashier was very nice about it and said the refund was no problem even though I had opened the box. The manager, on the other hand, was openly rude and aggressive about the return. My best guess is that she assumed I had used it for my project, and now wanted a refund? I honestly don't know. But since I expect to be treated as curteously during a refund as I am during a purchase, I will never shop Harbor Freight again. *And it turns out that Home Depot has everything I need on sale for the Holidays so the only money I lost was the $20 restocking fee at Harbor Freight! read more

Harbor freight is awesome! I do not buy all my tools there, but I have quite a few including 2 air compressors. Their quality may not be as good as others but I have found, "if you respect the tool" they serve you well. Harbor Freight is a valuable resource. read more
