I have always liked going in hardware stores. But today my husband gave me a challenge: He was curious if he could find a new tip for his favorite walking cane. Well the people here were incredible in assisting us. There was a young lady at the register that directed us and two more people helped us locate : Yes a cane tip! I was elated! I have bought those before and it can be a pain to find the exact tip for canes. Both of us use canes now for better mobility. So we are glad we do not have to replace our favorite canes but put tips on them now. There is a section that have a variety of sizes. One store clerk pulled the tip off of my husband's cane and found the perfect fit. The package has four ! It was $5.14 ! I I bought a package of 2 tips at the nearby drugstore for for my cane. They were pricey and did not fit. And worse I lost the receipt. So I had to buy another cane. Because that tip was worn out to use anymore. So getting four tips for about $5 is a great deal. So anyone who has canes of any kind ,go to Ace Hardware to replace tips! They are helpful and go beyond to provide great customer service. And no worries, they will help you remove the old one and put new one on quickly. I truly did not expect Ace to have those kind of things but they did. I will return here and refer my friends. Oh and they also have some pretty plants here too. Next year I am definitely planting some flowers! And as you leave store, there is free hard candy to grab a few for just visiting . read more

The customer service here at checkout is non inviting they seem to be unwelcoming. Each time I visit I go in and out, cashiers so far seem inconvenienced by my 2-3 item purchase. I try not to visit this location if I can. I value Ace Hardware just not this location. The workers seem really unhappy and it's shows by how they treat their patrons. Get in and get out fast every time so that I make sure they know their time is valuable, even though they seem to be absolutely miserable at the checkout. I have tried to patronize this Ace store to keep it in business but their customer service sucks. The cashiers will not bag your purchases even if you bring your own. When standing in a long checkout line a rude lady stepped in front and started asking questions of the manager who left the customers trying to check out with their purchases so he could help the person that cut in front. When I have to spend any money, I carefully decide who to give it to and I try hard to shop local. Ace has been my go to hardware store because the prices are okay (everywhere is too expensive), the selection is good for me, and the employees are so nice and helpful! The big box stores have a much bigger selection but Ace, hands down, has the most helpful associates! read more

Update: bought bags of soil to patch the lawn, and they were full of rocks. Not tiny pebbles - actual rocks. It is Ace brand. I wasted another hour of my life on the phone with Ace corporate, and they just told me to return the bags for a refund. Nothing else, even though I spent another hour picking large rocks out of my lawn so I don't wreck my mower. Customer service is non-existent. Prices and service are better at McLendons, so even though Ace is closest, I'd rather go elsewhere. read more

Bought a US flag at ace in friday harbor. It ended up being 2 big for what i needed. When i got home to tacoma, went to ace hardware to return. With receipt. Package had never been opened. Manager refused to refund money. Stating receipt was old. It states on receipt there was a 90day refund policy. Manager said no and walked away. I cannot give this Ace Hardware enough stars! Not only did they track down a particular bbq in the color I wanted, they ordered it, out it together and delivered it at NO CHARGE! The owner was amazing, and Tony I cannot say enough wonderful things about. They got me the propane and cover I needed and all I had to do was come in and pay. They did everything! PLUS... I couldn't get the grill to work the day Tony delivered it. He came back the next day and got it going for me!!! They really go the EXTRA MILE. I won't go anywhere else!! Thank you Ace!! I have been a customer of this branch for 8 years. I will never spend a cent in this place again. The staff was unfriendly and gave zero help to what I needed to the point I realized I needed to leave and go elsewhere to get the products I was ready to purchase. Too bad that they can treat people this way and still stay in business I guess that is the perk of being located closer than other hardware stores. Oh well, the other places have better products and prices so an extra ten minutes round trip will save in the long run. My bad for trying to take a short cut and go there. They really are the helpful hardware place! I showed them pics of my burst pipe. It was a $7 fix. The plumber would have charged me $50 just to show up! They also helped me in the past with little house helper things like how to replace a electrical socket without dying. Nice folks read more

Wow. Way to fail at customer service. I needed to get my locks rekeyed in a hurry, as I had just bought a house. I went into Ace the day prior to when I was supposed to have the locks rekeyed to see if they provided this service. I was assured by two different employees that they did indeed do this but only certain employees knew how and I would have to schedule an appointment. I wasn't sure of the time that I could be there the next day so they took down my name and phone number. Later that night I received a voicemail from from one of the employees. I called back to schedule and the girl I spoke to was like, "I'm not sure we rekey, hold on..." That should have been my first red flag. She got back on the line and said, "Yes, we have two appointments tomorrow, one at 10:00 and one at 3:00." I said perfect I'll take the 10:00 and see you then. Fast forward to this morning. All the locks are off my doors, I'm having my house sat, and I drive down and say I'm here for my appointment. The lady looks at me with a blank face and says, "I don't know if we rekey here?" I reply, "Then why did I make an appointment?!" The manager comes over and starts talking to me and I explain that I came in yesterday, spoke with several employees, had one of the employees call me and made an appointment for today (with the time THE EMPLOYEE provided). He is confused because the employees that can rekey aren't even scheduled for today. WTF? Why schedule an appointment for today then? Why offer me times of 10:00 and 3:00? At that point I kind of start to lose it. I am on the phone with Lowe's, trying to see if they will rekey while the manager is calling McLendons. He tells me, yep, McLendons can do it now. I grab my locks, tell him he seriously needs to have a chat with his employees and I think he had the nerve to say please come back. Yeah, right. I will never, ever go to another Ace Hardware store in my Life. "Ace is the place with the helpful hardware folks?" Sure...In your dreams. read more

My experience here was great and it has become my new first stop shop for Home related shopping. I went to the other big stores (good luck trying to get some good customer service) of course they didn't have what I needed or really any idea of what I was talking about so I made my way to ace thinking I'd give it a try and they had absolutely everything I needed and more they even had undercoat spray in their automotive section that I couldn't find at either of the auto stores. I really like this location; we're pretty lucky to have a little neighborhood hardware store that carries ALL the basics. I can't count the number of times when I've planned my trip to Home Depot, and while getting groceries or coffee thought "I'll see if they have it at Ace, then I won't have to go all the way to HD". And they usually have it! The employees are pretty great, too. This is one store where you really feel like their job is to help you! They seem to really enjoy giving home improvement advice, trying to figure out your project with you, etc. read more

Came in looking for a specific item they didn't have in store, but could order. I needed it asap and told to come back 2 days later to pick up. (Which I thought was great turn around time.) Came back on pick-up date and order wasn't there. Given another pick-up date and same thing. Then told it'd be 2 weeks since I originally placed the order before it would come in. They could have done a better job communicating. I would have kept looking around at other local businesses to find the item I needed sooner. read more

If you read the reviews you will notice that they used to get a high rating. When they first opened up and for a few years after, customer service was great. It was close to my house and they were really helpful. Over the last 1 1/2 years customer service has become terrible. Twice I went in to buy paint samples. Both times the people at the counter were clueless and I ended up leaving without buying anything. I called the manager after the second time, he told me to come back and see him. Well I tried that, the staff up front told me he wasn't available. Today I thought I'd give it another shot, went in an bought a hose. The guy I was trying to ask questions about was cough all over the customers (as was the female at the cash register), he couldn't get it that there was no price listed on for the length and type of hose I wanted, kept saying well here's the price of the 100' despite me continuing to say I wanted the 75'. Well I bought it but think I will take it back. If I'm going to be treated as badly as they now treat their customers, I may as well go to the big box store and pay less. read more
