I reserved a U-Haul truck and two furniture dollies at this location, only to be informed upon arrival that they don't actually have a furniture dollies. The store blamed this on U-Haul not keeping track of equipment, and U-Haul said the same thing about them. Either way, that doesn't paint a flattering picture of the whole operation. U-Haul customer service then sent me on a 2-hour long wild goose chase to two other locations before finally securing two dollies. Even then, the store claimed that U-Haul never contacted them after I was told that someone called ahead to guarantee, so I had to fill out a second contract for the dolly rental. This took so much time that I wasn't able to fully pack the truck. U-haul refunded me basically the cost of gas and the dollies, nothing more. It's Penske trucks from here on out! Obviously only the first part of this journey was caused by McLendon, but it wouldn't have happened at all had their inventory information been accurate.

A few weeks ago, I went into the Westgate Ace Hardware with my husband. We wanted to build a catio…read moreand went to check out materials we could use. When we entered the store something instantly felt off. I got a weird vibe from the employees. We started down separate aisles intending to meet up after a while. O heard an associate approach my husband to see if he needed help. He kindly declined and the associate then headed my direction. He asked me the same and I explained to him that we were looking for materials to build a catio. We didn't need his assistance, but would continue looking and let him know if we needed help. He walked away but only a few steps and turned around to watch . It felt weird and uncomfortable so I headed towards where my husband was. I asked him if he felt like we were being watched and he agreed 100%. Knowing there was nothing they would find in watching us we continued looking around. They could watch us all they wanted and they did. After discussing our options and deciding to return once we took some measurements at home we headedtowards the front of the store. I went towards the mistintsnas he looked at some tools down a different aisle. The associate, Randy announces "Thats enough, you need to leave." My husband asked him why and his response was that he didn't need to give us a reason. My husband then said we didn't do anything or steal anything so there's no reason we can't look in the store. Randy then said you guys are in here all the time and never buy anything. I then told him we were willing to empty all our pockets and I would dump out my purse because we don't steal. He again said to leave now. I was in shock. They had no grounds to kick us out and were accusing us of something we never did. As we headed to the car I was furious and decided to go back and stand outside the door in order to get his name. I immediately called corporate headquarters and explained what had just happened. The representative acted concerned and went as far as looking up our rewards account to verify what I had told him. We have frequented that location and have a history showing several transactions. I believe that was the first visit we left empty handed since we discovered the store. He acted like he cared and assured me I would hear from the manager of the store the next day. We got no phone call. The representative also offered us a coupon for our experience but my response was that he could send a gift card with $500 on it and I still wouldn't set foot in that store ever again. I have never been so offended by a retailer in my life. I'm a mother of two and work for a living to provide for my kids. I am not homeless or someone who steals from anyone or anywhere. I don't look like someone who doesnt have money or engages in illegal activity. I was raised better than that and don't appreciate false accusations that have no grounds. I understand theft has increased in our town over the past few years, but accusing innocent people will only cause your company to lose more money. It's been a few weeks and I'm just as angry as I was that day. I would advise you to avoid stepping foot into Ace Hardware at all costs. They don't deserve any legitimate business and have no problem kicking out paying customers. I intend to make this be known to the point of making a mark in the decline of their business so no one else feels the bitterness and shock that I feel. Especially to Randy who should fired for his profiling and rudeness accusing people who have done nothing wrong. He should find a job away from the public if he ever wants to make something of himself. Stay away from this place! The icing on the cake is that we got our materials elsewhere and the Catio was a huge success. So much so that we might make a business out of it. Luckily we won't be helping Ace out with our business and someone else can have our business. They won't have to worry about us stealing because we just don't do that no matter who falsely accuses us of it.

I was told that with tax, a yard of their very good garden soil would be approximately $29. Ok, I will be in next week. After arriving and talking with staff, the clerk said to me that this is for flower beds, correct? No, it is for food for my family fir vegetables. She then told me that the soil I was going to purchase would not support food growth... I was then told: "We have our compost blend and we also mix our compost with steer manure compost and fish compost and it is twice the price." I then decided to buy two yards. The next morning I was surprised to find that my son had filled my garden beds for me, but there is all kinds if 'stuff' in the dirt! I easily gathered a 1/2 baggie of pieces of plastic in clear, white, blue, black, red, another blue,... along with pieces of painted metal i. Blue, red, black, green, dark blue, bright blue, white, etc... -along with treated 'Beauty Bark'... I took the baggie half filled with the debris and my receipt... The Manager was not in and would call- and THEY WOULD NOT GIVE ME BACK MY RECEIPT! They also kept the baggie, which I wanted them to see as unfortunately I can easily gather more. I was then informed by the two women working behind the counter that they get their compost from the Pierce County Dump! Excuse Me?! When an employee informs me that WE make OUR with premium compost, OUR steer manure compost, and OUR fish compost; I don not get the impression that you receive it from the Pierce County Landfill!!?? I specifically asked and was given an answer of: WE make OUR with OUR WE MAKE... Had I been properly informed of the compost origins, I would absolutely NOT have purchased ANY product originating from ANY Landfill project. Today marks two weeks since I drove there again, and asked to speak to the Manager. I called yet again today, Monday June 10, 2024 and wouldn't ya know, the manager just stepped out and will call me back. At this point, I can only recommend NEVER DOING BUSINESS WITH PURDY TOPSOIL GRAVEL! Sincerely, Kimberly Kelly Lehman

I was just finishing up the purchase of almost $8,000 for a SawStop table saw. As the store employees were bringing the saw out to my rental truck, the internal mobile base broke. They had another saw on the showroom floor with the part that broke in it, but they didn't want to pull from that saw to fix mine. They also were not willing to deliver it to me. They offered absolutely nothing to compensate for my $185 rental truck, or my time to take the day to come get the saw. They just wanted me to eat all my time and expense and wait for the replacement part to arrive and for them to install it. I had absolutely no fault in this. It broke while in the store's possession, yet they wanted me to bear all of the time and truck rental expenses a second time to pick up the saw a week or so later. I thought that was ridiculous and said that they can fix it with the part in the saw on their floor, they could deliver it to my house for free since I already paid for the truck once. Or, they could give me money back. Dennis Schmit chose to refund my money. My salesman later came up with an idea of a store credit as a third option. I was good with that, but again the store manager Dennis Schmit said "no". I will never shop at the Sumner Woodworker Store ever again. While I was in Eternal Soul I got a text notifying me of a situation that made me have to head home and forgo my trip to this store. I get in my car and start driving down the road and notice an elderly white man and his dog are blocking the road in front of me. I roll down my window and it's the owner of the store telling me he's about to tow my car. This bitter old man starts yelling at me, asking if I can read, spewing profanities, and wouldn't hear anything I had to say. I was flustered and couldn't get a word in to explain. He kept insisting that I go back into his lot because he has a tow truck on the way. Like he seriously thought I was just going to go put my car back in the lot to get towed . I apologized profusely and remained calm but he continued to spew profanities at me, screamed at me "wake up!" and got too close to my window. It ended with him screaming at me to "get the fuck outta here!" I don't know if he was extra hateful because I'm a young black woman and didn't think anyone like me could POSSIBLY be a customer of his store but be VERY careful shopping here. I was literally only parked in his lot for maybe 15 minutes. If you do decide to give this place your business, make sure you IMMEDIATELY enter the business after parking and leave IMMEDIATELY after you're done shopping...even if you have multiple stops, you have to move your car in between or risk getting towed. The owner is seriously unstable and aggressive. Beware!
