It's fun to explore and see if there is anything that sparks interest. Fortunately, for me, I really like what they curate. This place racially profiles like crazy, especially the cashier whose name is Gail. Walked into the store and instantly bats an eye at me and remains eye contact with me, while also mean mugging me. Eyes follow me throughout the whole store as i see her talking into the little mic or whatever. I actually caught her saying "keep an eye on that one" referring to me. Just your basic Cost Plus. Long gone the days were it was a REAL import store. A place to get hard to get things. Most everything now you can get in any box stores. Use to be THEEE place to get Christmas ornaments. Not anymore. However, the staff were very friendly and helpful. read more

World market by Tacoma Mall. SMH Terrible experience with customer service today. I walked in and was not greeted like I noticed everyone else was. In addition, through the store I was stared down by several store employees as if I was stealing, same ones who greeted everyone else but me.. I literally went in to get a bottle of water. As I approach the front to pay, there was an individual at the register who I THOUGHT was another employee talking with the cashier. Thinking they didn't notice me, I stood there for around 5 minutes, no greeting no "we will be right with you" or anything. Mind you, being stared down by the manager in the aisle next to me while he is loudly talking on the phone. I speak up and say "is this where I'm supposed to be to check out?" Again thinking I wasn't noticed.. The employee Shad, responded "what do you think" visibly annoyed. Then proceeded to scoff and laugh about it with his manager, very rude in my opinion in front of customers. I made a simple mistake in thinking that another customer was an employee. When it was my turn, I apologized and let him know that I made a mistake, but the way he spoke to me I found rude. He snarkily responded. "whatever lady... and "I don't like the way you talked to me." Which, I understand I was mildly annoyed, thinking I was being ignored, which is why I took accountability for that, but his responses following mine were inappropriate for his position in the matter. That was my first, and last time ever going to this store unfortunately. And like I said, all I wanted was a bottle of water. read more

I've missed this store and now that the Pier 1 is closed this is the closest I'll get. I always seem to find something to buy here, whether it be trinkets or bath and body or food. Airways a nice variety of everything. Today I picked up cute wooden measuring spoons, pho soup spoons, food items, small colorful gift bags and a yummy smelling candle. Staff was courteous and helpful. Of course masks required to enter. Staff wore masks and I believe they had hand sanitizer available although I carry my own. read more

Went in for their elf hunt advertised on sign in front of store. Drove 20 minutes to pick kid up early from school and all the way back so I could bring him at 4:00. Employee was unhelpful with event details said to come back at 4:00 when it starts. We came back and waited until 4:00 pm at the front of the store until event started. Noone else was up front so we thought for sure we would find an elf. I let the kids start looking right at 4:00 and by 4:05 all the prizes were gone by men that were in the store shopping watching where they here hidden. Kids dissapointed! Didn't even know we should be looking for pieces of paper not elves like sign said. Horrible waste of time event that only taught kids if you want to win okay to cheat. read more

Such a wide variety of items that are all to satisfy your hunger, your thirst (alcohol and nonalcohol), and your house. Visited on a Saturday evening and it wasnt so packed. We were looking for some holiday goodies to gift and found some really affordable items. It is a much smaller store than the other ones i have gone to up north but they still carry some of the same items. The staff here was super friendly. They all seemed to be busy due to it being Black Friday weekend but they were able to still help customers and keep the store organized. read more

I am disabled. Thete are usually no motorized wheelchairs in major craft stores. Seems every other "group" is being accomadated. I needed a few things and felt this store would have what I needed. I was a bit in pain, and had walked around this large store and not gotten just what I needed. I thought if leaving just to rest my back. I asked Regan if there were any chairs as I had to rest between departments. She spent extra time for me. She also took the concept of what I was looking for, and went to get examples. She was able to help me find what I wanted, and help me navigate where things were in the store. She went out of her way for me. I am in awe, as I never get an insightful person to help me find what I am after for craft projects. It takes me longer in a craft store, but usually there are no chairs or motorized wheelchairs. read more

This is such a fun store to shop at. I love the variety of things they always have and how clearly laid out the store is. Last time I stopped in, mostly to kill some time, I ended up with two great new pans (love their green pan line, truly non stick but with no chemicals!!) an outdoor pillow for one of my patio chairs (at 20% off) some candles and new kitchen tools. It was easy to get around and see the selection and almost everything was on sale, I spent just over $100 for all my goodies. I've found some great gifts for people there over the years also, always original and well made. It's a great spot for that one thing you need for a gift, their selection is big but not overwhelming and the staff is super helpful. Most importantly none of the stuff they have is junky. I've had an okay experience here. Frustrated because I got curtains. They had barely any selection. The curtains weren't the right color for my space. I called the store and asked if they'd have any more curtains come in, and they said they would and had a bunch on the truck. I waited a few days and went back but no curtains. I asked in desperation for the display curtain instead . Went home and realized the display curtain didn't match the other curtain, going back for the third time to return. The customer service was okay but also seemed like no one knew what was happening or what to do. Beautiful store, but I wouldn't expect much as far as what's available. read more

I don't think I've ever been to a WM I haven't loved. they're always stocked with the same things, which are great things for almost every purpose in life....no fresh veggies, but just about everything else you'll ever need to live a rich full life. so you could move in there and ask small children to drop zucchinis and tomatoes through the mail slot and all would be well with your soul....provided you could take invisible pills, this is all a very real possibility. okay then.... signing up for their rewards card is a wise decision as you will get emails which give you anywhere from 10-25% off your purchase (except booze) and that can save you loads of cash. Also, if you shop often enough, you begin to accumulate $10 free monies. I believe it's every $100 you spend, you get $10. I just went here tonight with my 15% off coupon in one hand and $60 worth of earned rewards I accumulated from buying other wonderful things. so it's getting free stuff to shop. I bought a $300 mid century cool TV stand but only paid $200 for it. so make sure u take advantage of rewards. I get couches and such here, so my rewards really add up. do dig around in their foods/snacks for really good deals on imported foods, candies and beverages. and check the end caps near the bathroom for clearance edibles. if you're weird like me, you'll like the foods that apparently others dont and save song kaching while you're at it. also, if you love someone, get them a world market gift card so they can choose things to their liking. and while your at it, get a unique gift bag and pick out a few things that show you know their taste. I'm practically an ancient artifact so I remember when Pier 1 imports was what world market now is, before some sinister import villain in an I'll fitting nylon suit bewitched it into not carrying all sorts of kitsch for a screaming deal...(is it just me or does Pier 1 always have Christmas trees in there???) ughhhhh. used to be so cool in the 80s. let's see if I had to say something I don't like I'd say....some of their curios and knickknacks are the generic made in China stuff....like you'd find at a craft store. I prefer they stick to the Rajasthani and Jaipur handmade works, for example. I love World Market in general. The big issue comes when I make A special trip to the store, see the hours posted as 10:00 for Saturday and come back at 10:00 only to find the store still closed. Several employees see me outside and don't take the time to let me know the REAL hours for the store are posted online...11:00. On a Saturday. They should probably change the multiple signs that say they open at 10:00. read more

This is review is specifically for the rude and unprofessional customer service I received from Jim at the Tacoma store. There was a confusion with my online order and Jim was very aggressive as I felt attacked about my purchase making it seem that I would walk just leave without paying for an item. Zairaiyah (sp?) the original rep I was working with was professional and even apologized for the behavior of Jim. Jim said she was new and didn't know process. Looks like she can give him some pointers on how to deal with customers. This was my first negative experience with Cost Plus so this will not prevent me from shopping here but I will definitely publicly state when I was treated fairly and when someone stepped in and did the right thing. I went in looking for something very specific so I didn't do a lot of looking around but my gosh this store has sooooo much cool stuff! I must say first and foremost that the staff is PHENOMENAL! I needed 8 glass jars of a specific size and there were only 6 on the shelf. I spent about 10 minutes in the store while one employee looked all over for any sign of more. One of the other employees, was very nice and personable so the 10 minutes really flew by. After all the work they put into finding the extra 2 I ended up having to leave with just the 6, but they are going to notify me when another shipment comes in and they gave me a rain check on the coupon price that I had for 30% off of the item since the coupon will be expired by the time they get more. This is such a great store. I've put together some great wedding and housewarming gifts here, always on a very reasonable budget - and I invariably find a few goodies I didn't know I needed for myself, too! Today, for example, I went in there looking for some fun things to fill a gift basket and also managed to come out with a nice wicker laundry hamper for $14.99 - more than $20 cheaper than any comparable baskets I'd found at Target, BB&Beyond, or Walmart. Score! I don't know how the selection at this store compares to other World Markets in the area, but the staff was quite friendly and helpful and the store was well maintained. read more

I liked this Cost Plus better than their location from my former hometown in Fort Collins, CO. For one the liquor laws are different in Washington and you have access to a wide array of alcoholic beverages just by going to places like Cost Plus or your local grocery store. One stop shopping at it's finest. They have a wonderful selection of wine to gander through here! Another reason why I like this Cost Plus is that the layout of their shelves seem to be more organized and easier to view everything they have. This is especially true for their grocery section. Still with the better layout I have been to other Cost Plus stores that are more organized still. For one, one of their stores had all of their wine in one big section of the store and had a wine consultant which was really awesome but given the space this store is given that is probably unrealistic. Cost Plus continues to bring in adorable domestic and home decor products. I love my sushi roll Christmas ornaments I bought here! I keep finding new things to love everytime I go here and most of it is in the grocery section. I am finding some of these items are easier to buy out here but I highly recommend you take a peak at their chocolate candy bar section. If you can score a Vosges or a Wild Ophelia candy bar then you are in for a treat! They also have a nice selection of the Hawaiian brand potato chips which are very good and my latest infatuation is the Chai Cola soda pop which is located in the soft drink section. Cost Plus continues to supply me with exotic and yummy treats and I always look forward to going here! read more

I love this place! The only sucky thing is this place is not cheap. I was throwing my Son's welcome home party and was able to find great serving plates for a reasonable price. I love there beer selection (I don't drink but I normally bring my husband a random bottle home to add to his collection) and the syrups for Italian sodas/coffee. Great place to pick up items for a unique gift basket or a weird piece to complete the look of your living room. People say this place is not cheap, but if you sign up for their email list, you will CONSTANTLY (not in the bad sense) be sent all sorts of coupons and deals. Often they are 15% off or (my favorite one is) the $10 of $30 purchase. That always gets me in the store. When I buy something for $20 I can easily add $10 of food (from SO many cultures) that I know will essentially be free. If it weren't for these coupons, I think the place would be a bit too pricey for me. Luckily, their "explorer" club has the best deals! read more

I unfortunately have been ignoring this gem of a store since moving to this area:( The complex it is located in, can be deceiving and I just always forget to stop by, but not anymore! I joined the store membership offering emails and such for coupons, which gives me a constant reminder that they are close by! The variety in this store and the products it offers are quite phenomenal. Alot of earthy things, recycled, organic and such. Now my fav section would be in the back were they have the wine!! Cupcake is my new fav brand of wine and it is decently priced:) I have yet to purchase any type of furniture yet but I always see other customers looking and checking it out, I see pretty good deals on the furniture since they are a little high end on the price. All in all, a great place for wine, smell goods (candles) and just neat decorative things for the home and office. World Market is always great. The staff at this location are friendly and helpful. After visiting the location in South Center, though, I'm amazed at how limited the selection in Tacoma is. There's a LOT that isn't sold here that you can find in Tukwila. We got our kitchen table here, and it's extremely solid and well made. The price was perfect. They didn't have enough chair pads in stock, so I had to make a trip to another WM just to complete my set, which was pretty annoying. They didn't offer to get the pads in for me. read more

The shelves are teeming with treasure- mostly edible or decorative. This is a great place to find treats from around the world, alternative gifts for the person who has everything or a little something for yourself. The wine and beer selection are good, we can find the odd items we're looking for like wheat gnocchi and vegemite, as well as a pitcher shaped like a camel to serve tea. It brings some happiness and joy into our house or others. The staff are always very friendly. They usually have some good clearance deals. The only downside is getting there, which is not Cost Plus's fault, but maybe try to go during daylight hours. read more

Two items, same product and price barcode with 2 different prices printed above the barcode. 1 with a $1.00 difference cheaper than the other, item was on "sale" but sale price was a $1.00 more than the cheaper labeled item.
