This is my second time going to Fred M. Susan Auto Body. Both times they fix my car and it came out amazing. Expecially the last time when both doors of my Subaru Forrester where totally smash that I had to get new doors. The person who talk to me , she was very business like, and explain every thing that was going to happen and how long. Even text me to let me know that it would take longer because of the door. Came and got my car looked brand new! Very please, less stress and glad I let them repair my car. Thanks Fred M Susan Auto Body! read more

They have exceptional services in terms of communication to set expectations and follow ups. They also did a great job on fixing the car. I would totally recommend them! read more

A fender bender/insurance claim brought me in to Fred M Susan Auto Body to get my entire front bumper, grill & left headlight completely replaced. Was very nervous to have work done on my 2013 Lexus as its pearl white (a 3-stage coat) and very hard to fade into the rest of the car. Front desk woman, Mary, was incredibly nice and explained everything to me that would be happening. Signed up for text alerts through the shop and was always updated about the estimated time of completion. Very professional staff and very easy to work with. Went to pick up my car and couldn't have been happier with the end result. They were forced to use all original Lexus parts (a win in my book), and absolutely knocked the job out of the park. The entire front end is beautiful and looks like the car just pulled off the lot, THANK YOU BILL AND COMPANY!! Bottom line, if you need auto body work done, bring your car here, they are incredible at what they do as well as being friendly and professional. Thanks again Fred M Susan Auto Body!!!! read more

Fred M Susan Auto Body - Body Shops Near Me - Somerville, Massachusetts

My favorite auto body shop in the Cambridge/Somerville area. They are always super helpful and go out of there way to make sure you know what's happening with your vehicle once its in their hands. They call with updates and are available to answer any and all questions I have about my car while it's being fixed. Mary is super friendly and responsive and the new owner is a gem of a guy. I will definitely head here for any and all auto body work for as long as I live in the area! read more

I had some body work done recently at Fred M. Susan Auto Body. I was very pleased with the service, they were very responsive, the work was done faster than I anticipated and the quality extremely good. As a bonus they cleaned the outside and inside of our car before pick up which in Covid-19 times was a real blessing. I highly recommend this company. read more

After making an appointment for service on a Friday for the following Wednesday morning, I was told that the car would not be looked at until the following week. The person who was going to check me in kept saying it was the afternoon even though it was the morning and implied that the week was already over, and told me that the process of ordering parts would take days. Other shops I have gone to have routinely obtained parts on the same or next day. There was absolutely no reason for them to schedule an appointment if they could not look at the car for several days. I just spoke with a friend who had the identical experience with them(!) Apparently, they make appointments to get lots of business, but do not actually look at the cars for quite some time. read more

My car was T-boned, causing over $4,000 worth of damage, luckily paid by the other person's insurance. Fred M. Susan was on the list of recommended body shops from my insurance company, so I took the car there. Both the woman at the front desk, Mary, and the mechanic who I dealt with were super friendly. I picked up my car today, and I am blown away by how fantastic it looks! They did all the repairs perfectly, and also took care of some small scratches and bumper nicks that weren't part of what the insurance paid for. And, they completely detailed it, inside and out. My car is six years old, but it now looks as good as new. I highly recommend Fred. M. Susan. read more

I picked this auto body shop randomly from the list that my insurance company gave me to fix my car. Absolutely best car service I have ever had. The woman at the front desk, the one who usually picks up the phone sounds like a typical gruff Boston native, but she was extremely sweet and even offered to come and pick us up so we didn't have to take the bus to pick up our car when it was done. They took care of everything, including ordering and having the parts in the shop BEFORE we dropped off the car so that they could take care of it within the week. We got the car back clean and beautiful and the guy who worked on our car walked us through everything he did, including having the old parts they took off there to show us. I highly recommend going to them for your auto body needs. They don't have an outside lot, so you have to basically drive up to the garage door in the building which freaked me out at first, but hey, you know your car is safe behind locked doors! read more

Perfect repair, old school cool, everything perfect! Can't say enough good stuff about these folks. Intro: Our Jeep got side swiped by a garbage company taking away a roll off. Kudos to the driver and company for their honesty in providing info. Middle: Insurance company guided us toward local companies (FMS Auto Body) but they didn't have reviews. Took a chance, glad we did. Everything was handled seamlessly from the appraisal, sourcing of parts, and repair (apologies, I will NOT be in 7am - but thanks for the option). Courtesy and informative. End: These folks have an eye for detail! Perfect fix, great communication! I feel like we got star treatment - these folks are the BEST! Pure Class! Thank you for such a wonderful experience. read more

Due to an accident, I recently had my car towed to Fred M. Susan Auto Body. I choose them because they were an approved shop of my insurance company, and because of the reviews. When I walked into the office, he brought me to my car and showed me his assessment of the damage. After I grabbed my belongings from the car, I asked him some questions about what causes a car to become a total loss. He explained super clear how/why. I also asked if he had any advice about what my insurance company may offer me if car is total loss, and how to protect myself from a low quote. He walked me through some pointers and bullet points to argue if my insurance under quoted me. At this point it was past closing, and Rafael was still super patient and could tell he cared that I got a fair shake of things, even showing me my car on www.nada.com to see what I should be getting for the car. Again, I appreciate their honesty, time, and care in making sure I got a fair outcome. The three times I called, they were very thorough, patient, and thoughtful, and did not rush me off the phone or out of the office. If I ever need work on my car, this is my first and only choice. Period. read more

This place is the best- I have a spiritual lemon of a Range Rover whose lease can't end soon enough, and between ice last year breaking the windshield AND the glass roof, and then getting hit by a newspaper truck this year, they've gotten a lot of my business. Mary at the front desk is such a sweetheart and goes above and beyond, especially when the other party's insurance company is being sketchy. Sometimes the work takes a bit longer than intended, but that's usually due to matters beyond their control. Really nice people who do awesome work! read more

I was referred to Fred M Susan by my insurance company for some auto body work. Rafael was incredibly helpful and professional in terms of communication and getting the job done. He also managed to get me a discounted car rental while my car was in the shop. The repair was done within the time estimated and it was well done. I would definitely recommend them !! read more

The running joke when I pick up my car at Fred M Susan is "I hope I don't come back anytime soon ..." That being said, we've relied on these guys for accident repair for the past 10 years and they've never let us down. Just picked up my Subaru Forester, which was in a front end collision. The process with Liberty Mutual was painless, with communication every step of the way, and the work was done a day earlier than quoted. And Stanley even fixed up a couple of dings that were unrelated to the accident since they were painting. Definitely recommend -- we don't take our cars anywhere else. read more

I also picked Fred Susan from my insurance companies list of recommended mechanics. I could not have been happier with my service. Fred was genuinely interested in getting me in and out of there at the lowest cost to me. The woman at the front desk was such a nice person to talk to and empathized with my situation (being rear ended by someone without insurance). All in all, they seem like good people, running an honest business and I would recommend them highly. read more

Chose this spot from the list my insurance company gave me to for guaranteed work. They went above and beyond for great service and scheduling and the guy who worked on my Corolla was super friendly. The one and only snag is that the garage entrance is on the street with no street parking. Highly recommended nonetheless. read more

Such a great shop! I've used them twice and have had a perfect experience each time. They take care of communicating with insurance and provide excellent customer service. The body work on my car looked great. Dealing with a car accident is very stressful but this shop takes so much of the stress out of it. read more

Referred by my insurance company. Excellent work replacing 2 door panels. Very patient and affable staff / management as well.

Such a great shop in Somerville. My car was hit in a parking lot and both driver's side door panels needed to be repaired. They worked directly with the insurance company to complete the repair. I really didn't have to do anything other than drop the car off and pick it up. I never had to call and ask if my car was ready. It was ready when they said it would be done, and Mary from the office called me as they were cleaning the car so I could come get it before the holiday weekend. The repair was PERFECT, and they were quick. They even cleaned the interior of the car and washed it. Everyone at the shop is super nice. If you have Liberty Mutual insurance they are an authorized body shop, and even if you don't, GO THERE. The work is top notch. read more

I couldn't have asked for a better experience! They do excellent repair work (my car looks amazing now) and they have the best customer service! Highly recommend!! read more

Unless you want to add a month of misery to your life, stay far away from this place. They were recommended by my insurance company; stupidly, I sent the car here due to convenient location near my house. Not only did this shop refuse to release the vehicle even after being provided proof that the check they cashed had cleared, they then damaged the engine to my car so that it wouldn't run. They were ordered to release my car after investigation by my insurance company, and then moved the car to some other location and lied about it being towed away. The police had to get involved to locate my vehicle and force them to release it, at which point I had it towed to the dealer for an actual diagnostic. What had this autobody shop done to my car to render it undriveable, after it being brand new in July 2014 and involved in a minor fender bender accident, you ask? THEY DAMAGED the ENTIRE ENGINE! Yes. Damaged the ENGINE. The dealer confirmed that the car needed an entire engine replacement after this shop was done with its meddling and shenanigans. Unbelievable, yes, quite. I am still in shock. The car, again, brand new. Bought: July 2014. Driven, less than 400 miles. Should NOT need a NEW ENGINE (this repair is unheard of in my experience with cars). The car is a Toyota, btw. This repair will NEVER be needed until the car is 25-30 years old. The accident, over a month ago now, was a rear end and required a bumper replacement. Which also begs the question, how does a bumper replacement take over a month to complete? Bah, nevermind, this shop has much bigger offenses to its name to concentrate on here. Avoid this shop. Cross the street if you are near it on Somerville Ave in Somerville. The people are awful, too, especially that woman Mary in the office. Also, they DAMAGE Vehicles they are asked to repair. ENTIRE ENGINES, somehow. OK, I'm done. Maybe. Wow. read more

Best local Auto body shop! It was a seamless process from getting an estimate, to drop off, to pick up, and with communication with the insurance company in between. Thanks Bill! read more

Apart from a slightly awkward location to get to in Somerville, this auto-body shop is by far and away the best I've come across (and I've been to several in multiple countries - not that I'm accident prone). Their customer service is outstanding, the work itself (done twice on two separate cars) has been perfect, and they are flexible about the pick up and drop off of cars, even offering to drive me back to my home after dropping off a car recently for repair. Friendly, professional and attentive - perfect. read more

Super friendly and helpful with figuring things out, and they did a quick and perfect job! Hopefully I won't get hit again, but if I do, this is absolutely where I will bring my car. read more

Great auto body shop. We were sent there by our insurance company after our car was hit. They were very accommodating - they took time but did a good job. They gave me a drop at my work the day I dropped off the car. I was even able to leave my rental car with them and they got the rental company to pick it up from them. Very polite and friendly people - all of them - starting from the receptionist (who is a darling) to the owner to the mechanics in the shop. read more

This place has something of mine that is rare in their industry: trust. They say what they do and they do what they say. They are responsive, transparent and thorough. Really pleasant to deal with. Now they are always my first call for body work. read more

This is probably the 2nd yelp review I've ever written, but I have had 2 great experiences at Fred M Susan that I felt the need to post and recommend others make this their auto body shop. In 2011, I was in a no-fault car accident where I was sandwiched between two SUVs, resulting in $6k in damages. The employees at Fred M Susan were sincere, considerate and very knowledgeable. They gave me the reassurance I needed to feel less shaken up at the time and within 2 weeks (as promised), my car looked and felt like brand new. This winter, I somehow accidentally cracked my front bumper on a mound of ice/snow and part of my car was dragging underneath on the highway. I called Fred M Susan and they got me in the next day before work for a temporary fix. They discussed pricing and my options and realistically recommended I wait until after the winter to fix the crack. The mechanic secured my bumper at no charge and everyone wished me well. The customer service and detailed, quality work here is what makes a difference to me and should for you in looking for an auto body shop near Somerville. read more
