(Nov 2023): Well, I gave them a year and tried it again. I really want to like this place because it's got a great vibe and the decor is cozy and pleasant, as are the people working there. But the food is just...LACKING. Not the portions of pasta, mind you. Those are still as ridiculous as ever. You could LITERALLY feed a family of 4 on their side dish of pasta. But flavor...where is it?? I still can't find it. Their homemade pasta in and of itself is delicious, even their gnocchi which I usually find generally mushy and unpleasant is really good, but somehow there's just nothing that pops about their food...it is just bland. And marinara should be fresh and fully of fresh tomato and garlic chunks, but this is overcooked with mushy stewed tomatoes, very little visible garlic and mostly just juice. The red sauce is better, which says a lot because I'm always a marinara person. They revamped the menu layout since last year and it is an improvement, however the fact that you can't get anything for under $25 and then have to choose either a salad OR pasta with it, is mind-blowing. Most people require some sort of veg with a meal (and we're talking about a crappy bagged-lettuce salad with some chick peas, a single pepperoncini, one single cherry tomato and one slice of cucumber the side of a quarter) so, throw that salad in with the meal like literally every other restaurant does! I'm trying to be healthy so I chose the salad, but I left hungry and everyone else left satisfied with enough pasta to take home to feed the rest of the family. If there's a next time (and I only think that's even a possibility because others I'm with choose it), I'll eat my salad at home before we go. So, for $57 for one person, I got 4 slices of eggplant with tasteless, dry breading, a side-salad, one glass of wine and a [still fabulous] cannoli. Does that sound like it's worth it? Well, when I'm eating eggplant parm and thinking, "man, I make this so much better," and paying $7/slice when I know a whole eggplant costs $3 retail, it's an issue for me when I'm not even enjoying the taste to the point that even though I hadn't eaten all day, I didn't even finish it. PS: new this year, there is an upcharge for every item if you don't pay with cash. So bring your cash unless you want to pay their credit card usage fees. (Nov 2022): Used to be our go to for an upgraded meal close by, especially through COVID shutdowns, but no more. It will be more of a maybe-once-a-year thing. Their meal prices and upcharges are ridiculous. $15 for a side of spaghetti?? $5 for a tiny cup of extra sauce?? $26 for mediocre eggplant parmesan and if you want a salad or soup with it that's $3 extra?? Who has ever heard of paying $30 for a meal of eggplant parm anywhere? I realize that all restaurants prices have increased, but of all of the numerous places I've been, this one is the most shocking--and with the least return for your buck. I think the most disappointing part is that the food quality seems to be slipping while the prices are increasing. Don't get me wrong, their food is still good...it's just not GOOOD. I have had better Italian food for better prices within the last month. Not to mention I am a food photographer--not by trade, but I take photos of my food everywhere and it never once occurred to me to snap any pictures of this food. None of our meals were photo-worthy. I am a big believer that you eat with your eyes first and that set it off in the wrong direction right off the bat. Have dined @ Fratelli's for years now, thru various owners and renovations. This week's experience broke me. Ridiculously loud (we were stuck in a back room with a large party) to the point of having to literally scream at each other, and the meal was tremendously uninspiring. 4 meals plus appetizers, and not a thing that any of us enjoyed. I went here with a large party and the staff was very accommodating in creating a space for us. We also paid in about 10 different checks and they were very nice about that. The restaurant is big, with a bar area, and nice large waiting area and they were so crowded for a random Tuesday night. The warm garlic oil that came with the complementary bread was so good! I loved the warm-ness and the garlic-y depth of the flavors. I could dip stuff in that oil all day! I also had the calamari app, it was good. The pieces were big, you get lots of it and the breading had a nice crunch. My entree came with a soup or salad. I chose the italian wedding soup. Oh my gosh this soup was so salty! I had two spoons and was salted out. Salad was the way to go here I guess. For entree I had cacciuco (half order). You get a lot even for half an order. There wasn't a ton of seafood in the half order, but you do get all of the seafoods listed. First off, the pasta was well cooked. It was al dente and held up well in the garlic and oil sauce. The sauce had very little flavor, I was told by my co-worker that there usually is more sauce in there. So since the sauce was flavorless, the pasta was also flavorless. The scallops were cooked very well so it retained its sweetness and wasn't chewy. The shrimp was boring, nothing special. The crab meat was way over cooked and there wasn't much of it. The meat was chewy so I guess it didn't matter there wasn't that much. The clams (you get 2) was ok, nothing too exciting. The reason this place got 2 stars was because even though the waitress was accommodating, she was very rude to one of my friends. My friend ordered a veal parm but instead was brought a chicken. When she stated this to the waitress, she shoved the ordering ticket in my friend's face and pointed aggressively saying "see? CHICKEN parm". Which, by the way, was not even good according to my friend. I think there's no way the waitress could have misheard and wrote down the wrong thing so of course my friend was wrong right??? Overall, I would recommend my app and the bread, but everything else was a little too disappointing to make the drive. read more

My husband & I had gotten a gift card for Fratelli's & finally used it Wednesday evening going about 5:00pm. We didn't have reservations & that wasn't a problem. We were seated immediately & our waitress, Kim, came to our table right away & told us the specials for that night. We decided to try the deep fried cauliflower which had a horse radish dipping sauce & the batter as well as sauce were excellent. I had the cheeseburger soup which was the best soup I have had in a long time!! My husband had the antipasto platter for his dinner & said it was very good. I tried the cheese only & liked it so much I got the name of it from Kim! I had fettuccine Alfredo with added shrimp & it was good not outstanding but nothing to complain about! We had leftovers so that pleased us both!! The bill was $60 before tip which we felt was very reasonable. read more

The food is still decent but, they've raised their prices and they've lowered their expectations on their meals. The seafood bisque had imitation crab in it. The Sicilian Calamari was good but a major scaled down version of its former self. You no longer get a salad with your meal. You get a choice of Over pasta, side of pasta, salad, vegetable OR a cup of soup. What really got me was the "country fried steak" special at a Upper scale Italian restaurant. I have no problem paying for amazing food but when you raise prices and cheap out on your ingredients I have a problem. My wife and I have a skewed sense of what people might consider "expensive " for dining out because we do so a lot. Some places you know ahead of time as expensive and some are just unnaturally expensive. Sadly such is the case here. When I've gone out to dinner lately I like to see signs of rebirth and renewal, hoping that Covid is in the rear view. Fratellis is one reminder after another to the contrary. There's a 3.5 % surcharge for credit cards. Pasta dishes come with soup or salad but veal and chicken do not and it's worded very ambiguously on the menu . We saw a few customers who remarked "that's not how it used to be"- probably have been regulars fir years but not been back since Covid. My wife asked for a side of rigatoni. She got corrected that they have ziti. Umm the menu says rigatoni. One of the best things about Fratellis has always been their homemade gnocchis and they know that too because now if you want gnocchi instead of pasta it's a $15 up charge. Meat sauce up charge. Mushrooms- $4 ! You don't pay that much on a pizza! Yes overall the food was good the service was fine. Casual weekday dinner for 2 . 2 entrees an app and 2 glasses of wine - over $100 . We left full but a little shell shocked too. 3.5 stars is about right for here but today I couldn't do 4 for benefit of the doubt read more

A friend of mine took me to Fratelli's for dinner. He had eaten here in the past and knows he can get spaghetti with garlic and oil, it's the only thing he ever orders in an Italian restaurant. I'm a little more adventurous. I ordered the Veal saltimbocca, sautéed escarole, prosciutto ham, olives and mushrooms in a chianti wine sauce. It also came with a nice house salad. It was all just OK. The veal was over cooked and while the chianti wine sauce was good, there was much too much of it. Like everything was swimming in chianti wine soup. The side of pasta was nothing to write home about. The red sauce was a little bland. I must say the portions were generous. They don't serve espresso so we skipped dessert. The place also looks tired and dated. Our waitress was very attentive and kept my water glass full. Would I go back? Only if I had too, like when I'm traveling with someone else who only orders spaghetti in garlic and oil. Guess you can't screw that up too badly. read more

We had dinner with a couple friends. I've never been before. The interior looks fairly new but the color scheme is already dated. It's a generic big box or corporate hotel vibe. They do stick larger parties next to smaller tables. It was a bit noisy but not any worse than any other restaurant. I got the gnocchi with greens and beans. My friends got Alfredo and pasta with marinara. We started with cheese garlic bread. Decent but average. That was the best part of the meal. The gnocchi were terrible. The worst I've ever had. They were incredibly dense, chewy and devoid of flavor. The beans were not properly prepared so they were still partially dry and hard. The greens were edible but too crunchy. I tried a bite of the Alfredo and marinara. The Alfredo was also awful. Dull and lacking flavor. My friend ended putting a ton of pepper on it to eat it. The chicken they got in it was rubbery and chewy. The marinara was watery and bland. The service we had was good and friendly. The prices are ridiculous for the terrible quality of the food. I understand that prices have gone up but the prices here are outrageously too high for what you get. Quantity doesn't mean quality. This is one of those places that nickel and dimes you to death. Fees for this, fees for that and the worst fee of all, the credit card fee. We drove out from the Rochester area to meet these friends. We enjoyed spending time with them but it will never be at Fratelli's again. Just terrible, overpriced food and nonsense fees. read more

We have been going to Fratelli's since they opened, our entire family and bringing friends. I am very disappointed in how much they have gone downhill. They used to be amazing in every way. I purchased a $100 gift certificate for our son and daughter in law for Christmas. The website wasn't working very well. It took me 3 days to get in. Once I made the purchase it did not give me their option of $10 for every $50 spent. i immediately called and spoke to the woman who always answers. Explained what happened & she assured me all the kids had to do was mention it when they came. My dil mentioned it when making the reservation, explained it again & was also assured by the same woman "no problem". They went on Valentine's Day & were seated by David Currenti. He very gruff & told them "No, that doesn't apply to web purchases" when my dil explained the situation. The server was great, as always. Their food was cold and lacked the flavor that it used to have. They didn't even offer children's choices that evening. After such a rude encounter with one of the owners, David, and the poor quality of food, I assure you, they will not be returning, after all these years, and neither will we. Garbage, Our meal: Fried Calamari, it was like chewing gum disgusting and inedible. Caprese Salad the cheese ball interior was a cottage cheese texture, watery and absolutely nauseating. Pasta was served in a liquid tomato sauce and had absolutely zero flavor. There was not enough salt and pepper on the table to make it taste better. Anyone who gives this place a good rating has never experienced good Italian dining. Im from New York and I know overall the food in Utah is lacking to say the least. This place is a traditional Italian restaurant with food just like grandma used to make. So, no offense to grandma, but the food is really just average. Where this place excels is in portion size. If you want 2+ meals out of a single dish, you come here. This place is the equivalent of grandma saying "Mangia tutto!" The first time I was here was 2008 or so. I had an absolutely HUGE dish of fettuccine alfredo. I ate what I could and then did not eat alfredo sauce again for about 5 years. AND I AM ABSOLUTELY SERIOUS! It wasn't bad alfredo sauce, it was just wayyy too much, and I overdid it. So be careful - LOL! (I eat it again now, if you were wondering!) We then went here again last month with a large party. I got the Chicken French (along with most of my family - we're such Rochesterians!). It was average. But again, LARGE. I don't know if it was 2 whole chicken breasts or 1 large breast fileted into 2, but it seemed like 2 breasts! Getting it over pasta with the French sauce is recommended! My husband got the manicotti which was actually pretty good with their homemade pasta. I heard that the tripe was pretty good too but didn't try it. The place got a makeover recently and actually looks really nice! The whole bar area is really cute. The service was great and accommodating. Fratelli's isn't really worth the drive down from Rochester, in my opinion. However, I know that some people really like this type of non-fussy traditional grandma-style Italian food. Highly recommend the homemade ravioli!!!! Extremely fresh tasting and delicious. Spaghetti carbonara wasn't impressive. The bacon was mostly pieces of fat and the sauce was more like and Alfredo sauce than an egg based sauce. Would come back for the homemade pasta for sure! read more

Fratellis has been around for years. Since it's remodeling it has improved a great deal. It is nice to have the takeout option, especially for us that have to avoid close contact. One of my wife's favorites is the lasagna on Thursday. We also agree that the Alfredo is some of the most flavorful around. For me, I have had chicken Marsala at many restaurants but nothing compares to Fratellis. That is my go to. The portions are enough for two meals also, so we get to enjoy for dinner and lunch! It is an inviting place to dine in also. I cannot imagine how anyone could leave a poor review. We are very fortunate to have them in our area! read more

Service for us was excellent and maybe that is because it was a Thursday evening and we had a reservation. The waitresses were super friendly and down to earth. The food was average and no one thing was extraordinary as far as italian. The pasta is from a box but everything else seems to be homemade. The portions are huge as everyone stared and if I went again I would definitely split a meal while still sharing one of the other oversized apps. Price with tip took us to north of $120 which did include one drink and 2 apps and no dessert or coffee. Seems high unless you weigh the fact that you bring home a second dinner. I would prefer to have less, bring home nothing which just may mean sharing a meal. I would still consider going back just because of the service and relaxed environment. read more

I have been there before. Sauce is mediocre. We always seem to be rushed through courses. Saturday my friend and I ordered the Prime Rib. It was the worst I ever had. It was soggy and tasteless. It appeared steamed and not roasted. We each ate one bite. When asked if food was ok, I told waitress my disappointment in a $33 prime rib entree. She had no comment to either of us. BTW...my soup was cold. I ordered veal parm to go for my ill friend. When I got to her house we found the veal overcooked and burnt. Side and veal had a bit of sauce. Fratelli's offers some tasty Italian food in an unexpected location! I came here after celebrating a graduation with my family and was pleasantly surprised. We had a reservation made months in advance and the table was ready when we arrived. The inside of the restaurant has recently been renovated. You can tell there is updated decor and it has a clean look about it. There are a few dining areas, and the one section we were seated in was a bit stuffy- it was sectioned off without any windows and not much ventilation. This, by the way, was the only part of my experience that I wasn't pleased with. Our waitress (I believe her name was Carol) was friendly and helpful when going over menu items and specials. She was attentive and made sure we were taken care of. I ordered Moscato which was sweet and tasty. For dinner, I ordered a half order of a delicious seafood dish over linguine, I believe it was called Cacciuco. I also ordered a salad with balsamic vinegarette which was simple but flavorful. When Carol asked if she should take my glass (with a few drops of wine left), she told me to just "throw it back", to which I laughed and complied. My sister ordered the Gnocchi which could've fed 5 easily. We were all pleased with our dishes and will definitely come back to Fratelli's when we are in the area! read more

I used to drive to Fratelli's from Rochester because it was old school Italian with large portions at a good price. I went for the 1st time in a few years last night and found that they completely remodelled the inside and the outside of the restaurant, their trying to get high tech with tablets, the prices had gone up 50% ($13 for a kids pasta without a meatball) and the portions were half the size. Not a smart move considering the state of the restaurant industry and that they are further out into the country. I will not go back. read more

SHOCKED Just moved to the area and kept passing this place - lots always packed and looked like a great spot to try. We went tonight, waited 45mins at the bar (no problem) for a table. Once seated we ordered stuffed shrimp as an app, the shrimp were- I kid you not- 1/4 the size you'd expect, stuffed with imitation crab, for $17?!? Okay... fine... My partner ordered a pork chop (medium rare), I a pasta dish. He is never one to send food back but after a couple of cuts into his pork we realized that 1/2 of it was completely raw, and the other allllmost to medium rare. We flagged down a waitress to help us and asked for a more even cooked/ well done pork. 2 minutes later we get the same cut of meat, literally the same cuts he made into this pork chop- MIND YOU IT WAS $27?!? So the expectations were a little higher than the same cut that I could've made better at home for $10... I spoke up for him at this point and asked for a new cut- as there was no way with how uneven and absolutely rare 1/2 of it was, that this could possibly be cooked evenly. Our waitress returns with the old boxed up pork chop- insisting that the chef outright refuses to make a new cut of meat. She stated that she, and two more front of house staff agreed that the chef was outright wrong about his decision. We up and left after paying the $70 remaining bill (soup, $18 in wine, and my dish). I didn't even eat mine because I was in such shock. No manager offered to come and speak with us. But after leaving my partner walked back in and spoke with the front of house manager. He apologized and gave us a $50 gift card... I mean come on. Just give me my mother loving money back at this point... These people absolutely dropped the ball. Will never consider eating there again. Do yourself a favor, drive the extra 15 minutes to ember down the road. read more

So being new to the Carolinas and a Native New Yorker, finding a great Pizza joint was a must. Walking into Fratellis we already new it was more that a pizza joint. We were greeted by friendly staff and a warm ambiance. The owner Joe is such a nice guy and made us feel at home. Jenae our go to waitress always has a smile and an amazing personality. Most importantly, their pizza is solid. Get a large NY cheese and you won't be disappointed! Of all the blocks pizza spots, Fratellis is holding thr crown, and... they sell by the slice. It is the usual American Italian (Chicken|Veal Parm|French, meatballs, ravioli, red sauce, Barilla pasta, etc) served in the usual enormous portions. It looks like a nicely renovated casual eatery. The food was not stand out except in its portions and that's not something I would drive out 40 minutes from Rochester for. It was quite busy when we went so do make reservations. I ordered the chicken marsela and it was okay, but not great. I ordered a cannoli for dessert, drank water and it cost me $32. I've been to Fratelli's on numerous occasions, and the service has been exceptional every time. The staff is pleasant and accommodating and the food is the best around. I've never left there hungry, and commonly with a to-go box. The wines are fantastic, the portions are huge, and the prices are comparable to the Italian chains, though that's about the only similarity. I would recommend a reservation, as I've never seen Fratelli's on a slow night. That alone should speak volumes on the quality. Fratelli's is definitely worth going out of the way for a great night out. read more

My husband and I have enjoyed eating at fratelli's for many yrs-always have had delicious and plentiful dinners. Last night was different for me. While my husband ordered a special, Haddock Alaska( it was plentiful and delicious), I ordered the Stuffed Shrimp and a side of linguine off the menu for $31.00. Now I know what COVID has done to the economy. I don't live under a rock. Because of COVID, instead of 2 side dishes, you only get one. I get that, not a problem. I even understand the newly added "convenience fee" of $1.73 added when using a charge card. My stuffed shrimp consisted of 6 one inch long shrimp with stuffing on them. The linguine with marinara sauce was delicious however it was lukewarm at best and a larger portion could have been had. I did not say anything to our server, Carol because from the onset of our visit, she seemed a bit defensive and maybe annoyed for some reason. While my husband's dinner was up to their great standards, my was not. Either lower the price on the shrimp dish or serve larger shrimp. My wife and I along with my sister and her husband ate there this past Saturday night. We drove 35 minutes from victor and my sister drove 30 minutes from Spencerport. I ordered Veal Parm with Alfredo sauce. It was delicious but a little dry. I asked our server if I could have some more sauce. When our bill came I was billed $3.00 for the Alfredo plus an additional $3.50 for the additional sauce. I guess I was just surprised to see an additional $6.50 on my bill when I was never informed it would be additional. My point and the point a lot of consumers have is: we don't like surprises. Fratellis has always been a great place with great food. That was not the case with this experience, but I have not been there in over a year. Yesterday I ordered plain spaghetti and meatballs and my Wife got the chicken Marsala. Where to begin?! my pasta was fettuccini not spaghetti which was over cooked. The sauce was bland and generic and more than likely came from a can. The meatballs tasted like dull meatloaf and was nothing special. My wives chicken Marsala had way, way too many mushrooms and tasted like it was just thrown together. A dish like chicken Marsala should reflect the chefs passion for their menu and food and it was just not there. We were very disappointed especially after spending what we did on the meals. I have spoken to a couple friends of mine and they agree that Fratellis is not what it used to be. One last thing to add, I noticed things were dusty in the restaurant and even cobwebs on plants and in the corner which I notified the host of just to make them aware, not to be a Dick. I hope they get their act together and step up the standards. read more

The tired and worn look is gone thanks to a recent remodel, so the decor is quite pleasant and comfortable. Appetizers are my favorites. Unfortunately we didn't get to try the food here. I live in the area and had been wanting to try this place for a while now. We stopped in fairly early, (530) on a Thursday evening (12/20). The host was busy cashing out two to-go orders. After he finished he was doing something with their receipts for several minutes with his back to us. At that point the phone rang and he asked the caller to hold. He then went back to doing something with these receipts, and then took the phone call. At that point we'd been standing there unacknowledged for almost 10 minutes. He, nor anyone else, ever spoke to us once. We chose to leave and I doubt we'll go back. read more
