The wine bar was very close to our AirBnB so we walked down and had dinner and drinks. The servers were absolutely excellent - very friendly, very knowledgable, not condescending at all (which you might expect at some wine bars). We had the mussels and tried their wine recommendations and a few moscow mule variations. Everything was fantastic! We had such a great time that we came back the next day for their brunch! At that time we tried their amazing french bread with apples, and my wife had an incredible cabbage soup. Again, blew us away. We had such a great time that we came back that night for more drinks! She helped us develop a 4-course menu that was sure to have something for everyone, including vegan and allergy friendly options. The chairs in the Meyer's Den are wide and comfortable, the decor is dark and classy, and being in the basement away from the dining room made it very quiet and easy to converse with family. The room is rather spacious for 12 guests, but could also accommodate a few more people without feeling cramped. Out of the appetizers we selected, the Charred Octopus was very popular and everyone enjoyed it...even those that had never previously eaten octopus. The baby cauliflower dish was also a beautiful presentation, and quite large and enjoyable. The salads, particularly the Charred Hurricane salad, were nice light courses before the entree was served. The venue is cozy and intimate, but has high ceilings so it did not feel claustrophobic at all, even with 30+ guests at one point. I'm a wine snob myself, so I was a bit skeptical initially when I saw their wine list. Most of the wines they serve retail for $10-20. They do have some bottles that are more expensive (retail ~$30). However, after tasting some of their entry level wines (Ancient Peaks Zinfandel & Gouguenheim Malbec), my worries vanished. Everything I tasted was excellent and drank better than their actual price point. Steve was a great host. He was laid back, but still friendly and attentive to all of our guests. He made sure everybody's drink needs were satisfied. He was also flexible with letting us in the venue early to set up and also staying late to clean up.
