The servers were absolutely excellent - very friendly, very knowledgable, not condescending at all (which you might expect at some wine bars). We had the mussels and tried their wine recommendations and a few moscow mule variations. Everything was fantastic! We had such a great time that we came back the next day for their brunch! The chairs in the Meyer's Den are wide and comfortable, the decor is dark and classy, and being in the basement away from the dining room made it very quiet and easy to converse with family. The room is rather spacious for 12 guests, but could also accommodate a few more people without feeling cramped. Out of the appetizers we selected, the Charred Octopus was very popular and everyone enjoyed it...even those that had never previously eaten octopus. I'm a wine snob myself, so I was a bit skeptical initially when I saw their wine list. Most of the wines they serve retail for $10-20. They do have some bottles that are more expensive (retail ~$30). However, after tasting some of their entry level wines (Ancient Peaks Zinfandel & Gouguenheim Malbec), my worries vanished. Everything I tasted was excellent and drank better than their actual price point. Steve was a great host. He was laid back, but still friendly and attentive to all of our guests. He made sure everybody's drink needs were satisfied. He was also flexible with letting us in the venue early to set up and also staying late to clean up. When I let her know kindly that I have done this many times and noted that they just upcharge which I'm cool with, she shook her head no and said "they've never let me do that when I try." There was no "I'll check" or even a we may have to ring it up separate, etc. she literally was telling me no and willing to do nothing about it. So I ordered a smaller, one main dish and moved on because she wouldn't let me order more food however they wanted to bill/upcharge it. We were a party of 7. I totally understand not making changes for the same price, but I'm simply trying to order the food I want and willing to pay for it however they wanted to charge it.
