Fra diavolo
Stephanie L.

Had to make the drive to stop in after craving Italian food and seeing all the great reviews. I had the fra diavolo which does not come with pasta, but you have the option to add it. I also tried their bolognese. Both entrees were good sized portions. There's bar seating options as well and they were able to sit walk ins for dinner, but I do recommend a reservation on a busy weekend night.

Delicious food. Pasta Al dente. Sat at the bar for dinner. Good service. Causal setting. Dimly light. Small place. Nice location for a date

Zuppe di Pesce. As good as it looks, tastes even better!!!

Everything about the evening was thouroughly enjoyed. Kaylee, our server and host, was helpful with her recommendations and her timely service. The pasta Carbanara was homemade and true to its expected flavors. Our other main plate was the Zuppe di Pesce. Wow!! The best seafood dish we have enjoyed in a long time. Thank you for a great night out in Canandaigua

Pasta Carbonara

This place is a hidden gem! So cozy and cute inside, excellent service, and fantastic food! Never had a bad meal here. A must try!

Blackberry Mint Mojito

Working from out of town and happened across this diamond in the rough! Couldn't suggest a better spot for food. Everything I had from the carbonara to the bolognese was to die for! If I'm ever in the area agin I know what's for dinner!

Chicken Milanese - best I've had. Cooked impossibly perfect.

The Rose Tavern located in the renowned Lake House on Canandaigua Lake. The ambiance is beautiful…read more The staff is welcoming. The bartenders were extremely talented. Steven and Megan are a proper fun duo behind the bar but their skills really stand out. My only negative is HOW EXPENSIVE the drinks are. You have to remember that this is an experience and enjoy every moment but be prepared for a steep bar/restaurant bill. We will definitely be back again. We are locals and have so few lakefront dining/drinking venues that this is a nice place to enjoy the views with a mix of local wines and international, spirits and beers. Cin Cin!

Would give them 3.5 stars. Agree with some other reviews that the view and atmosphere is nice but…read morenot worth the upsale price. We came as a larger group and they were nice enough for us to order from the breakfast menu as they switched over the lunch menu at 11:30am. Our table enjoyed the food but all agreed it wasn't worth the price point. I tried the chocolate croissant with homemade butter and maple bacon jam along with the Canadian bacon Benedict. The chocolate croissant was nice with the maple bacon jam but definitely not worth the price point of $12. The croissant was quite smaller, like the chocolate croissants you can get from Costco or Starbucks. The Canadian bacon eggs Benedict however was delicious and I really enjoyed it! I just am not sure again it was worth the high price point. However I definitely felt the service was missing. As we were the only ones in the dining area, I felt the service was missing the mark. The server saw we were carrying a baby in the restaurant but didn't ask if we wanted a high chair. My mother-in-law spied it in the corner and then we had to ask for it and we proceeded to set it up at the table. As I was with 2 young kids, I ordered some simple items before the main course like their chocolate croissant and fruit cup. I assumed the server would ask if we wanted those ahead of time but that didn't happen. He also had forgotten my son's drink order and which my son actually had to ask him after some time "where's my juice?" My older son had ordered the s'mores waffles and it looked good when it was delivered but as I cut some of it for me to try later on, I soon realized the batter was uncooked in the middle of most of them. I was thoroughly disappointed he had eaten some of it before I discovered it was uncooked. The server throughly apologized and they remade the order which in the end, we ended up taking home with us. They also didn't take the order off the check for us which normally that would happen. For such a classy restaurant, we would think they would know how to make waffles and for more top-notch service. I think next time we will just enjoy the nice views and choose to eat somewhere else when we are in the area.

Upon arrival, we were told there were no lounge tables available, no explanation. We then asked for a booth and were given the last available "half booth" ( so what is the point of making a reservation?). We did not complain. There are several items on the menu with no price stated, and it is awkward to have to ask, but we did ask some prices as you kind of like to know what you're paying! Duh. Hubby got filet mignon $65 and it was good, but only the size of a tennis ball at most. I got scallops $45 for only 4 of them.Medium sized . Really? In Canandaigua?? The garlic mashed were good, but warm, not hot. Server did not appear again soon enough to let her know. Also, I could have sworn she told us that soup or salad was included with our meals, but when the bill came there was a charge for each. Again it is awkward to have to quibble about an issue like that; we just paid the bill as it was . It should be clearly stated on the menu what is included! All in all, a disappointing experience that cost $175 plus tip. We aren't planning to go back.

So, if you had no cash-better go out and get cash. $10 cover on Wed night??? This was the venues charge not the bands. The restaurant was empty. Not surprised as it was a Wednesday but the last few times we were there, the food went downhill since Nick moved away. They lost several great bartenders too. The common denominator is a very micro managing, overbearing, unfriendly owner. The venue is fantastic upstairs and down, BUT this needs to be sold to a passionate, dedicated, business savvy restaurateur. Someone PLEASE save this place and buy it out. We miss you Danielle and Nick!!! We miss Megan and Kayla! For the record-go support Junkyard Fieldtrip band. Amazing!!!!!

The most incredible (and only) speakeasy in the Finger Lakes…read more After hours of driving, we knew we needed a cool spot to go to at night for some delicious wine. Of course, the Finger Lakes are KNOWN for wine so we're just thinking we're making reservations for a wine bar (with "speakeasy" vibes). Which that would've been totally cool with us. After continuous back and forth, changing our reservations 50 million times, adding and taking people out, we finally made it to Vinifera on a Friday night and were super apologetic since we had to make yet another change. The staff was absolutely incredible and accommodating, they made sure our party of 10 would be in the same room/table. The only "downfall" was that we'd have to share the room with another small party. Which was absolutely not a problem and we ended up being BFF'S with them by the end of the night. We met the owner Jim - the most incredible human - and he took us down to the speakeasy (which passes right through a super secretive door in the back of the main room upstairs). Side note - the main room upstairs is a vibe on it's own btw and we would've been absolutely fine and happy there. It's an actual wine store and you can purchase all kind of local wines. Be sure to ask and get all the recommendations you want. Not only did we get to enjoy an incredible time but we got a super cool VIP experience and learned the story and so much history about this place, the concept, the origin and what sparked the idea of creating it. That itself, was a treat. On to the actual speakeasy experience. When you go downstairs (through that fun super cool super secretive door) - you're instantly transported to another era, another time. It's dark, it's velvety, chandeliers, spiderwebs (the aesthetic kind, idk if there were actually any but it fit the vibe in my head), Leonardo Da Vinci, Mona Lisa, candles, curtains. There are two super cool rooms, one to the right (which is where our large party sat at) and one to the left - totally recommended for smaller groups, it's cozy, it's chill, you can interact and share with other guests too. Just by this, I'm wowed. As if this wasn't enough, the drinks were absolutely incredible. I ended up ordering some kind of a smoked drink and they happily substituted the regular old fashioned for mezcal. What a dream. Everyone was happy with their drink orders, some ordered some off the menu things and they happily made them - even though they technically only serve what's on the menu. Wine flights are also available if you're in the wine vibe. Bottom line: we loved this place SO much, we came back 2 night's later for our last night. We sat in the other room and absolutely loved and enjoyed it. I had a lavender drink and it was delish. This place is a GEM and you should absolutely check it out and support it if you're in the area. If you're not, well now you have a place I know you'll love to go to!
